Posted 13 years agoThis summer has not been kind to my computer(s). My desktop's motherboard fries itself, my laptop's battery dies, soon after that my laptop's power cord shorts out. My cheap replacement computer is virtually useless, and my external hard drive is starting to fail... AGAIN. I'm currently using my old laptop that surprisingly still works although its slow and runs hot fairly fast. With school right around the corner and me without a full time job I won't be able to fix these problems for a while so I'll be gone until then.

Posted 13 years agoWell, after years of reading about it happening to other people via their journal, the tragic event known as hard drive malfunction has finally happened to me. I don't think it's anything serious-- just the power cord shorting out-- but man... like 99% of my stuff is on my external hard drive. Now I have to send off for a replacement power cord and I won't be able to save anything until it gets here.:(

3) Excluding handhelds, how many VG consoles do you own presently?
NES, Genesis, Saturn, Playstation, Gamecube, X-box, X-box 360, so six I guess. I use to own a N64 though.
4) Were you a Street Fighter nut? Any character in particular?
I played Street Fighter II, Street Fighter II Turbo, and EX Plus Alpha when I was a kid. I always had preference for Guile, Cammy, and Garuda.
5) Do you think Capcom is a FUCKING awesome company?
I was a fan until they denied me Megaman Legends III and released Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom3 less than a year after I bought MVC3.
6) Here's the scenario. You had some friends over and you all ate FRIED CHICKEN! After the meal you all decide to play some video games. As your friend reaches for a controller you notice his/her hands are very "greasy." Are you the type that would insist they wash their hands before pawing the controller, or is it no big deal?
Yep. You have to wash your hands before picking up a controller, especially if they're dirty.

The New Thunder Cats Cartoon is Awesome!
Posted 14 years agoAt first I had my reservations about the show, but after watching the premiere last night I think I'll need to make time on Friday Nights to watch it. It's a bit different than the original: they dropped the superman-esque origin story in favor of Thunder Cats taking place in a more medieval fantasy meets technology setting rather than a post apocalyptic setting, Lion-o and Tygra are brother with Lion-O being interested in technology and being overall more level headed than Tygra, Snarf doesn't talk ect. The animation is top notch and the action is exciting. The story so far is enjoyable and well written. I high recommend watching this show.

Favorite/Least Favorite Pokemon Meme

Bug : +Scyther -Burmy
Scyther is the coolest looking bug Pokémon in my opinion, gotta love those scythe arms.. Burmy looks like something took a dump on its head.
Dark : +Sableye -Skuntank
I always thought that Sableye had a cool looking design. What's not to like about an imp-like Pokémon with a diamonds for eyes and a wicked set of teeth? Skuntank on the other hand is nothing but wasted potential in my opinion. I can excuse Skuntank's unevolved form Stunky for looking silly as it's suppose to be cute and child-like; but Skuntank looks like a cross between Garfield and a drunk Fifi La Fume, it just looks ugly to me. Plus it has a butt face.
Dragon : +Dragonite -Palkia
Dragonite has always been one of my favorite Pokémon and it's definitely my favorite dragon type Pokémon. It has a nice simple design that looks cool without being too flashy. Palkia looks a little too flashy and doesn't really look all that cool to me. It loo.ks like Betterman or a Panzer Dragoon creature
Electric : + Flaaffy - Emolga/ Electivire
Sheep= Awesome, Electricity=Awesome, Electric Sheep= Awesome^2. In my opinion Flaffy looks cooler than its next evolutionary stage Ampharos. Back when I played Gold and Silver the Mereep line was a mainstay in my line up throughout the game. I had to put two down for least favorite electric Pokémon. An electric rodent with colorful cheeks how original and what the hell is Electivire suppose to be anyway? Well whatever it is, it is uuugly.
Fighting : + Machoke /-Throh/Sawk
I think Machoke is everyone's favorite fighting Pokémon. With Throh and Sawk it seems like they just ran out of ideas for fighting types.
Fire : + Infernape - Moltres
Infernape is one of my favorite Pokémon of all time so… yeah. For the worst fire type Pokémon it was a tie between the Torchick line and Moltres, but Moltres came out one top because for it to be such a legendary Pokémon, it always let me down in the indigo plateau.
Flying : + Mandibuzz - Rayquaza
Mandibuzz just looks awesome, coolest bird Pokémon in opinion. I never liked Rayquaza's design it almost made it on my least favorite dragon type list.
Ghost : +Haunter - Jellicent
Huanter looks cooler than Gangar, yeah I said it. Jellicent… need I say more?
Grass : +Vileplume - Amoonguss
Vileplume is my favorite Pokémon period. Don't ask me why I just love its design. Where Vileplume is my favorite Pokémon, Amoonguss is one of the worst, uncreative designs for a Pokémon I've ever seen. Maybe if it wasn't colored like a poke ball I would have liked it better but eh…
Ground : + Hippowdon - Rhyperior
I like hippos so Hippowdon just look awesome to me. I loved Rhydon's design but I'm not too keen on Rhyerior's, chalk another one up for wasted potential.
Ice : +Froslass -Vanilluxe/ Cryogonal
A yukionna inspired Pokémon, nice. I think Cryogonal has a nice concept but has an overall bad design.
Normal : +Miltank - Regigigas
A cow pokemon with udders need I say more. Regigigas looks like disco themed pokemon to me.
Poison : + Nidoqueen - Garbodor
Nidoqueen has tigolbiddies. Garbage themed pokemon is garbage.
Psychic : + Xatu - Gothitelle
I dig Xatu's Native American totem pole kachina look. As for Gothitelle I really don't have anything against the design, and I know Jynx has a similar subculture, theme but it just seems like a Pokémon someone came up when they were writing fan fiction or something.
Rock : + Cranidos - Graveler
My fursona is part Pachycephalosaurus so you know I love Cranidos. Graveler looks like a Dr. Mario virus to me.
Steel : + Aggron - Probopass
Aggron just looks cool to me. I like Probopass but I think its design is a bit much.
Water : +Lapras/Wartortle - Ludicolo
I can't choose between Lapras or Warturtule as my favorite water pokemon so I choose them both. Ludicolo… what can I say?
Starter +Squirtle -Snivy
As far as starters go you can't beat Squirtle. Snivy look like it's got an attitude problem.
Legendary +Mewtwo -Cresselia
Mewtwo hands down, I was the neighborhood Pokémon champ thanks to him lol. Cresselia looks like my gravy bowl.

Bug : +Scyther -Burmy
Scyther is the coolest looking bug Pokémon in my opinion, gotta love those scythe arms.. Burmy looks like something took a dump on its head.
Dark : +Sableye -Skuntank
I always thought that Sableye had a cool looking design. What's not to like about an imp-like Pokémon with a diamonds for eyes and a wicked set of teeth? Skuntank on the other hand is nothing but wasted potential in my opinion. I can excuse Skuntank's unevolved form Stunky for looking silly as it's suppose to be cute and child-like; but Skuntank looks like a cross between Garfield and a drunk Fifi La Fume, it just looks ugly to me. Plus it has a butt face.
Dragon : +Dragonite -Palkia
Dragonite has always been one of my favorite Pokémon and it's definitely my favorite dragon type Pokémon. It has a nice simple design that looks cool without being too flashy. Palkia looks a little too flashy and doesn't really look all that cool to me. It loo.ks like Betterman or a Panzer Dragoon creature
Electric : + Flaaffy - Emolga/ Electivire
Sheep= Awesome, Electricity=Awesome, Electric Sheep= Awesome^2. In my opinion Flaffy looks cooler than its next evolutionary stage Ampharos. Back when I played Gold and Silver the Mereep line was a mainstay in my line up throughout the game. I had to put two down for least favorite electric Pokémon. An electric rodent with colorful cheeks how original and what the hell is Electivire suppose to be anyway? Well whatever it is, it is uuugly.
Fighting : + Machoke /-Throh/Sawk
I think Machoke is everyone's favorite fighting Pokémon. With Throh and Sawk it seems like they just ran out of ideas for fighting types.

A Shell of an Update

Gift Art
A few months back I decided that I was going to run a secret lottery for my watchers and offer gift art to three or four randomly selected winners. Some of you may already know who you are so if you're reading this here is the reason why it's taking so long to post your gift art is because:
My Tablet Broke
In a stroke of irony I lost my drawing tablet while doing some spring cleaning --is it even spring yet? -- when I finally found it again it wasn't working properly; this compounded by the fact that the software that came with it no longer wants to work on my desktop means that I can't really finish projects in a timely manner. Do note that I do have the sketches done for the contest winners and few more pictures for gallery in are on the way, but they'll have to remain in sketch form until I figure out a way to fix my old tablet or get a new one. Anyway!
Characters Sheets, Color Theory, and Character
'Been trying to make a rough draft model sheet for my fursona and haven't had any luck in the matter. It's the little things that gets to me and because it's a model sheet I want to get it just right. I can't decide on his body type/build, on how many digits will go on hands and feet, whether he has digigrade or plantigrade feet, the size of his feet, the size and shape of his turtle shell, should he even have a turtle shell, how many horns should have on his head, what are the size and shape of his horns etc. Thinking about the minute little details like that drives me crazy , but if anything I definitely want the next batch of pictures to have my model sheet in them. I've also been busy creating new characters, or I should say actually drawing new characters that I've had on the back-burner for a while now. And while coming up with a concept for a character is easy, actually sitting down and sorting out the details for characters is a bit tricky. Especially for someone who likes to obsess over things like that. As I've said above one thing that bothers me is the little details that make the character who they are ;and I'm not talking about like personality and stuff like that, that comes easy, I'm talking about physical traits like species, hair style, eye color, build, clothing etc.
The one thing that really is difficult for me to get down is the color scheme of a character. This detail alone can really define a character; blue characters are calm, cool, shy, red characters are fiery and passionate etc. I know I don't have to limit a character's personality by their color, but why mess with a formula that sort of works. And because this is furry the rainbow in the sky is the limit. I mean there are so many colors to choose from and I have a general idea of a character's color scheme, but when I put it down I go "ew that’s ugly, that's not going to work".
I've come up with concepts for over 30 characters and when I finally said "enough is enough, time to put these characters on paper", I couldn't come up with a complete color scheme for not one character… not even my own fursona! Maybe because I don't understand color theory and can't even do a decent shading job, maybe I'm over thinking this a little, but this is something I want to get right and not have individuals that are too similar too each and share color scheme. Which bring me to another subject:
Character Originality
This one is a touchy subject because my first submission was basically a *lol* black and white picture of a character who is essentially a recolor of another character
But don't you just hate it when you come up with what you think is a original creation only to find out that someone else has thought of something eerily similar first or at around the same time as you. And I'm not talking about ideas that are so common around here they've almost become expected like a vixen character with red hair and green eyes, or a otter character who is a buffed out surfing power swimmer, an opossum character with the last name… Opossum. That stuff is conventional, no, I'm talking about a character whose species and gender are rarely used together and who name is even rarer (and very foreign relatively speaking)and has nothing to do with species, personality, or coloration of the character. To think that two people would come up with a character like this around the same time with no contact to each other is kind of cool and simultaneously kind of vexing because the original character that you've came up with, well isn't original XP.
What subject to Draw Next
Yeah I'm not sure what I should draw next well besides a character/ Model sheets. So any suggestions what's subject would you like to see me draw?
Okay this update turned into a tl;dr style rant that no one is likely going to read so I'm going to end it right here. I have more to say but I'll leave that for another journal. Next journal I'll talk about vidiya games and the invasion of Ponies on FA.
