I love drawing furry characters, apparently! I’m enjoying it a lot!
Something I might as well ask… given what you’ve seen in my latest roundup of ArtFight pieces, would anyone be interested in getting a commission from me? Same traditional style for $20-$30?
Just putting some feelers out there. If a lot of people end up wanting to commission me, I’ll have to do it by slots just so I don’t drown in work.
Let me know what you think! I’d love to draw some characters for people!

Been a long time since I posted a new journal here.
You may have noticed I’ve been posting some more original art, and even doing the odd commission here and there. I’ve enjoyed doing it, and I feel like I’m getting better at it.
I’m still not fully committed to taking regular commissions, but you’ll be the first to know if I do.
I’m not planning on doing this full-time, but if enough people are interested, I think I’d like to be more involved in the community and engaging with my watchers— you all.
In the last week, I’ve made two new pieces of original furry art, which is unprecedented for me. I’m happy with them, but the reception was lukewarm. If you like what I make and share, let me ask you: what do you want to see from me?

Dang, first journal since November.
Things have been a little hectic for me, but a good kind of hectic. I’ve been making more furry art lately, not the least of which was a friggin’ commission. If people really like my stuff enough for that, I might have to open up some slots, see what people are interested in!
As a way to test my skills, I even participated in ArtFight- drew about 13 attacks! I had a ton of fun and will be uploading them soon. They’re only pencil sketches, but people have so many pretty characters… it felt worth it to me.
Sadly, those uploads will be a bit slow because FA has been misbehaving on my iPad, where I try to keep all my furry stuff. I can’t upload anything, because I press “submit” and it just goes back to the upload page. The last upload, I did through my phone. We’ll see if I can either find a comfy workaround or not. I’ll share the art one way or another.
In the meantime, how have you all been? Do you like my stuff? Should I make folders that shows what I did and didn’t draw?

Writing commissions?

If I opened for writing commissions, who would be interested in getting one?
Start out small, just a few slots for 5000 words at most to get a feel for how it fits into my schedule and how to make it fun/ engaging, and then see where things could go from there.
I write inflation, fat, growth, kinky smut in general- look at my faves and gallery, you’ll get a sense of what I’m into.
Maybe $10 for every 1000 words.
Who would be interested? Any ideas on what you’d want to see from me?

Here's the thing: furry art and expression just isn't important to me. I have other things going on in my life that I care about much more, and I think that's going to continue for a while. I considered offering writing commissions, decided against it. I stuck my toe into RP for a while, loved it but quickly got bored of it. All this to say that I'm really not passionate about being a furry.
Another thing is, I'm gray/asexual in real life, and in embracing that, I find myself less and less attracted to it all. I know I post and fave a lot of NSFW stuff, but I'm really not rabid about it. Sex where I'm involved? Gross. Sex as a concept, from a distance? Yes. Even my fursona is more a placeholder than anything: Hafgan isn't a reflection of who I am as a person in the slightest. And who I am as a person would really like to keep my real life separate from my furry interests as much as possible.
Letting you know, if I didn't already make it clear: my scope of activity is going to be very sparse. Thank you for the favorites, thank you for the encouragement, but I'm really happy to just observe.

Secret Santa Signal Boost!

Not sure why. I'm not sure how long this burst of inspiration will last, so I won't go so far as to say that my hiatus is over.
Whatever. It's a fun idea, and the artist clearly wants to put some good effort into it. Hopefully I'm going to do it justice.

Not making more furry art (for now)
General | Posted 5 years agoOkay! So, some of you may have read my previous journals and surmised that I have a lot of conflicting feelings about being a furry- I won’t run you through the gamut again.
This is my latest revelation: I don’t want to make more furry art. This isn’t part of any soul-searching or personal crisis. I asked myself, “is this what I want to devote my creative energy to?” And the answer was no, I don’t. I’m not trying to say it’s not worth doing in of itself, but it’s not for me. I want to do other things. This situation may change, but for now, I’m not going to make furry art.
I’m doing fine; like I said, this isn’t a crisis or any personal problem. I just have a clear idea of where my priorities are right now. Until further notice, I won’t be drawing furries. I’m sorry to disappoint some of you, but I’m grateful to those who understand.

There are times where I look at all this and wonder, "does this really bring me joy, or is it just something I'm addicted to?" I've wrestled with my furry identity all my life, always feeling like I'm indulging in something dark or illicit. Like this is unhealthy or holding me back from being my best self. Whenever I spend time doing something furry-related, I ask myself, "is this really how I want to spend my time?"
Ugh. I definitely don't want to spend so much time with my thoughts. My brain goes to ugly places.
On a lighter note, I did have fun making my new birb, Rayah, even though it's not the best piece of digital art I've made... I haven't been using my tablet much. Now that I actually have a few people watching my account, it makes me wonder if I should start making more art to make watching me worthwhile. Which begs the question: why DO you follow me? What was it about my work or profile that led you to my page? I'd love to know. Truly, I would.
In the meantime, hang in there, stay safe, and don't be the United States. We're a damn mess right now.

I’m starting to miss it, I’m not gonna lie. I’m not at the point where I’m repressing it with every fiber of my being or putting ice on my parts to ignore the sensation, but I can say that I’m eager to get back into things. Thankfully, I’ll be nice and busy soon, so that should make things easier.

And I don't mean that in a "I've really been holding back" kinda way, my life has just been busy. I really do enjoy this website and the people here, but I feel like I'm doing something healthy by taking a break from it for a bit. It's kinda nice.
But, I've been here before. Everything starts out okay, then you start to crave the things you're denying yourself. It's like sugar when you're on a diet. How long until I crack? We'll see.

General | Posted 6 years agoThis has been on my mind lately... I don’t have a fursona, but I’m wondering what it would be like to have one. My reasoning is that I don’t really want or need one; I like to be anonymous and keep my furry stuff separate from my real-life stuff, but I’m not too fond of the sense of detachment I have from my work and the community.
If I came up with one, it would still feel odd because I wouldn’t want it to be me in a furry context, I would want it to be like a character in a video game- my avatar, as it were, not necessarily a reflection of my innermost self. This would have to be a creation that feels genuine, yet isn’t a true reflection of who I am... it’s a dilemma.
Am I overthinking this?* I dunno, I’m just letting all my thoughts out onto the page. I might think more on this later, we’ll see.

It occurs to me that no one reads my journals, so I can say pretty much whatever I want here. I’m going to write five outrageous things: only one of them is true. Whoever reads, try to figure out which is true.
- I don’t believe climate change is fake, so I burn a lot of coal to hurry it along
- I eat raw deer hearts when I go hunting
- I’ve been shot multiple times
- I work for the FBI and I’m on FA as part of an intelligence-gathering mission
- I wish that the South had won the Civil War
It occurs to me that no one reads my journals, so I can say pretty much whatever I want here. I’m going to write five outrageous things: only one of them is true. Whoever reads, try to figure out which is true.

A long-awaited update

What a time it's been. Long story short, I've been getting eaten alive by work, and my tablet is acting up... I don't know when or if I'll be able to do digital work again. It's not that I don't want to- I've just been swamped. Maybe I can do some traditional stuff?
To everyone who's still been supportive of me, thank you so much. Once I feel like I'm more secure in what I'm doing, I'll be sure to get some more work going... I might even open commissions, if people are interested!

This year has gone on for ages. So many things happened, and it's kind of been a pain in the ass. I've had a lot of my own demons to battle, my own ups and downs... I'm ready to calm down for a bit of a Winter's rest. I'm going to ease up on the art and commissions for a little while (except, of course, to those whom I owe commission money to. You will get paid).
There's no drama, no sob story, I just need a break. Thanks so much for all the attention and praise, but I need a change of scenery for a bit. If anything, please give that love to all the people I've commissioned.
