I've decided to try something a little different this time, out of deference to a lot of potential clients having whacky timezone differences to myself and an interest in the fairest possible way to do things. This is a round I'm going to consider fairly "experimental" in nature; whether or not it happens again will be up to how well it's received and how smoothly I think it goes! So, what's the new drill, you ask?
Why, it's a slot raffle!
The short of it is this: anyone who wants a piece from me via commission can post in the journal below! I'll be leaving things "open" for roughlly 24 hours, at the end of which I'll use an RNG site to "draw" the winners of available slots. I'll leave notes below all entrants in their comment chains as to who won/didn't, after which things will default back to a far more usual rhythm (ie winners will have 24 hours to get me pay/info and then we go from there!). Sound cool? I hope so!

TLD;DR: I've been exhausted and runny sinus'd/feeling pretty run down ever since I slogged out of bed today, so no stream. Hopefully resting up a night will make me better tomorrow, though! Teeny Tiny Mini-hiatus!
Posted 9 years agoJust leaving another courtesy note up here so you guys are in the know! I'll still be around, technically, for those that know how to reach me, but very likely will not be streaming tonight or tomorrow! My mom is coming up for another visit at some point tomorrow because it's my sister's birthday (turning 30), so I'm just going to be setting work aside for family celebrations and the like. I should be back up to usual streaming speed by the end of the work week though!

So... Conventions. :D
Posted 9 years agoI thought it might be pertinent to (finally) sort of announce this somewhat officially, but I'll (gasp!) be in attendance for a couple of conventions this year! You can expect me to be at RMFC, Anthrocon (I'm gonna be behind 
Spartadog's table mostly as his dealing assistant/grunt frand), and even Furlandia, thanks to a well timed visit with 
Simpl1 out in that part of the country. Gonna be an exciting year!
I won't be dealing, myself, at any of the aforementioned cons, but you can bet your buns I'll be snooping the premises, attempting social interaction, and taking a lot of notes. I have tentative plans to make myself a regular dealer at cons one day, so this is my year to figure out how things actually work, how to handle myself, and how to (hopefully) tackle it as an intelligent businessperson. Also, maybe I'll see a few of you guys there!
If there are any questions or comments to all this, feel free to leave them below!

Sort of back in the waking world!
Posted 9 years agoHowdy hey, everyone! Just wanted to leave a note here that my Mom is on her way home, the visit with her went well, and I'm now free again to do work!
I might actually still be kind of low-key today though before I start blasting through the newest queue; admittedly I'm feeling pretty under the weather and sleep deprived this afternoon, and any stream that happened might be hideously informal. I've also been dickering around with some 3D software in the last couple of days, so I might spend the evening mucking on that like I did yesterday ( Simpl1 was kind enough to let me play for a couple of hours on a bust)!

Gonna be taking on a reasonable new chunk to chew through over the coming week or two today while I work on cleaning up the apartment; my mom's gonna be visiting tomorrow and spending the night, so I may not really be "here" with the usual streams again until Friday or Saturday. Since I'm back on the last dregs of my queue again (only a few very short hours left), I figured it was about time to get my ducks in a row for the next bunch! I will NOT be streaming tomorrow due to cleaning house/prep for a parental visit, but I WILL be opening for 20-30 hours' worth of fresh slots around 6 PM CST! I'll do my best to be on the dot with it, too!

So... I might need a volunteer commissioner.
Posted 9 years agoNow that I've eaten and charged up for the day, I wanted to poll for interest on something I've been contemplating trying-- though it would take a volunteer commissioner who is both A.) willing to trust me blindly for an asinine experiment and B.) okay with possibly not seeing their piece done in real time... sort of. I'll explain.
Basically I've been really wanting to push my color more lately. A little while back I made a portrait (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/19086010/ ) inspired by
Ophryon's work that got me really excited to be more experimental with my colors. I'd like to take another stab at this sort of 'fantastic colors' bit to see what happens, and I'd like to do it (ideally) on something like a simple square portrait along the same vein as icons like you see in that previous piece, since it'd help me focus on what I want to play with. Because I've been getting a lot of interest/engagement concerning this, I'd also like to record it for another little pseudo-demo stream people can watch along with, which I think I'd still likely do offline at this point for the sake of staying focussed. Stream recording of the aforementioned thing would very likely be this weekend at some point, which means your piece will not be made *quite* as instantaneously as you might hope.
SO.
Now the big question: would anyone out there possibly be interested in a single, "experimental" slot for this? It'd basically be a headshot, colors will be a total grab bag (I have no idea how this will turn out), and I'd put it in the realm of about 2 hours for time/cost, since that's what the last one amounted to. Any potential takers? If I miraculously had more than one brave soul willing to volunteer, I might either raffle the slot off or handpick it according to preference.

I have a very slight rollover from the previous queue left that will take precedence over new stuff whenever clients are around (2 hours left on Rath’s Mucha and 4 hours on Drak’s lich-thylacine I’ve been putting off ’til she’s present), but that aside, all of my prior work has been 100% finished now, so it’s time to take on more!

Posted 10 years agoJust thought I'd leave a little note up here as a courtesy heads-up! Since I'm so close to finishing off my current queue (Drakonicknight and Simpl1's being my only remaining pieces, of which are both in progress; Simpl's may be done tomorrow), I've decided that tomorrow will be a day for new queue collecting! This means lots of slots and hours (maybe 30+?) for claim will be available!

The parents and I managed to make it yesterday just shy of nightfall, and the past 24 hours have basically been a nonstop controlled chaos of moving furniture, buying supplies, and settling in, but I'm finally, FINALLY moved across state lines! I'm also currently super exhausted and very likely not gonna stream until tomorrow, if that, but HURRAH REGARDLESS.
Vash has also (finally) started coming out and exploring my new room. She spent the first few hours fear-wedged into the crack of the mattress, poor bug.

Posted 10 years agoFigured it'd be polite to leave a heads up here, yeah? Tonight I'm going to be (hopefully!) finishing up the very last piece for Newenglander on my 'short' queue (longer, slower pieces like continuing work for Lennon and Lionel are still being plucked away at), and I figured tomorrow would be as good a time as any to open up for a new round of slots. Chances are it'll be a lower end on hours available-- likely around 20 or so, with a possible hard cap of maybe 30, so long as people go into it knowing that I'll very likely either be absent completely or VERY slow to do anything this weekend, due to moving.
Last weekend's scheduled move was pushed back (just as I expected, honestly) to this weekend instead, and as far as I can tell, it may actually happen this time. This means that I'll be making a quasi-epic four hour journey to some suburb of Kansas City, complete with a new twin mattress so I don't have to clog my room up with my giant bed here, for new living conditions with my big sister. I'll be taking all of the important things of course: my work computer and all supplies, my precious things (art books, monster hunter figurines, my beautiful portrait from Springdragon, all my prints from beloved artists/my amazing gifts and hats and blankets from you guys/etc), and of course, my little mustached muse, Miss Vash. It's still kind of scary and daunting, thinking about how much my life is going to change, but I'm tentatively hopeful that this will be for the better. Hopefully both myself and the cat can survive it all without any heart attacks!

In short, there is a very real possibility that I'll be moving this weekend. I don't know how, exactly, or some of the factors that will go into it, but it's a four hour migration from here to Kansas City (or whatever suburb the apartment is supposed to be in), and I may have kind of a minimized presence online for a couple of days while I try getting settled in. I'll be living with my sister, who needs a second tenant to pay bills, until her lease expires. I'm told that the area is a lot more open and artsy than Tulsa is. Hopefully the room has decent space accommodations for my work area, too. Vash is getting drugged up to her little eyeballs so she doesn't have a heart attack during the drive (because of course she's coming with me, as is the natural order of things).
I just want to thank all of you guys for being so continually supportive and kind. I couldn't ask for better followers, watchers, support, friendship, you name it. Doing art and getting to mingle with you all is the driving force that keeps me going strong, even when things are a little down. I hope you're all having a fantastic week so far!

Back from the dead!
Posted 10 years agoOh man, my little break wound up a bit longer than expected-- my apologies for that! I've been gone from work due to a combination of family, tetchy health, and holiday things, but I'm still well, and holy crap is it time to come crawling back. I'm going stir crazy from lack of arts and lack of you guys. I hope you've all been having a wonderful late December, regardless of what holidays you celebrate! Even though I imagine I'll be kind of rusty, would anyone be interested in a (fairly short, probably, and possibly unfocussed) stream tonight to dabble on work and reacquaint with PS?

All is well!
Posted 10 years agoIn all the ways that matter, at least! I woke up at 6 in the morning today and we wound up spending something like 9 hours at the hospital, thanks to the patient before my mom having complications or something. HOWEVER. Her surgery went off without any problems, her arm is still numb in a sling, she isn't sick at all post-anesthesia, and we're all comfortably settled in now, having finally eaten dinner and settled in for the night.
I'm beat to hell and exhausted/braindead, but content. Look forward to more streams in the coming days once I'm rested! And I hope you're all having nice Fridays/coming weekends!

No stream tonight!
Posted 10 years agoNot feeling very hot today and trying to wrangle my stomach in order. I figured it'd be polite to leave a message just so people know-- tonight there should be no streaming happening on my end. Tomorrow, however, I should resume for another (hopefully full) work day!
ALSO, as a side note I just want everyone to be aware of, and have been meaning to make a post about; my mom has to go to the hospital for corrective surgery on her hand/wrist on Friday, so it's very likely I will not be around that day-- at least, not streaming publicly or anything. Back three or four months ago when she blacked out due to health issues in the garage, she fell on her hand and (so we found out later) fractured her wrist. The bones healed fine, but something in her nerves down there got damaged due to the trauma and it's been causing her chronic pain ever since. SO. If all goes well, come Friday, she'll finally be on the road to an actual recovery! It should be an outpatient thing if all goes well, but since she's going to be put under completely for the procedure and is pretty physically frail in the first place, I'm just going to go ahead and assume she'll be pretty sick post-anesthesia, and want to be free to hang around for whatever's needed that day once we're all home. Depending on how fast she bounces back, I may do streaming as usual on Saturday, or stay kind of low key over the weekend. We shall see!

Posted 10 years agoJust leaving another courtesy note here so no one wonders where I've gone! I'm pretty sure I've managed to catch a nice, icky stomach/flu bug thing or some sort, and I'm still feeling super peaked out/queasy today, so I don't think I'll risk any threat of vomiting on camera at you lovely folks. I've been feeling really crummy/tired/sick/under the weather all day and not really up to arting, so chances are I'm just gonna be an unproductive lout until I crash for the night. My apologies for any clients waiting on pieces; if I feel better/zippier tomorrow, I'll go for a good hardy day long stream again then and work up my productivity juices!

Though it's a little delayed and I've missed the first day (which was today), I'll be traveling up to Wichita, Kansas with my mom this evening once the weather here mellows out so I can take a little look-see at Central Plains Fur Con! I regrettably cannot find my badge and lanyard to haul along; it may have been packed somewhere in moving hubbub, but eh. Better to go with nothing than not go at all!
Work will be on pause for the few days I'll be out venturing beyond state lines, and I may or may not be radio silent here. Once I get back in a few days, however, I'll resume as normal!

YOU HAVE UNTIL TOMORROW, OCTOBER 29th, AT 6 PM CST TO SUBMIT YOUR SHORTENED COMMISSION FORM VIA COMMENT IN THIS JOURNAL BELOW. I'll be looking through everything and deciding what sounds the most interesting to accept, rather than simply taking on those who claim first! For those who don't enjoy this kind of bias, fear not; things will revert back to their normal routine next round. I just felt like being really biased and spoiling myself with some cool subjects!
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR A COMMISSION, PLEASE POST THE FOLLOWING:
1. 1-3 sentences (keep it succinct, please!) just giving me a general idea of what you'll be wanting. Is it a portrait? Character design/Hannification? Icon? Sketch page? I can't choose you if I don't know what you want!
2. How many hours you'll be wanting.
3. How much artistic freedom/liberty would be involved (a little, a lot, ALL THE THINGS)
4. You can include a reference or two of the characters via links if you have them!
Once the 'closing' time has passed tomorrow, I'll select my favorites, comment on them, sort everything into a finalized list, and handle commissions just like I always do (payment within 24 hours via Kdavis51[at]uco.edu in Paypal, full details noted to me, etc) with all the usual stipulations.
The amount of hours I take may be a little lower than usual because of some side projects, but we'll see! READY, SET, GO. :D
