Of Mice & Men "The Flood" Review
Posted 14 years ago So the new Of Mice & Men studio album dropped on June 14, and if you liked their self-debut album, then you will love this album. It has jaw dropping screams from Austin Carlile who returns as main screamer and lead, and amazing clean vocals by Shayley Bourget who in my opinion make this album what it is. This album has the energy it requires considering all the drama going around this band with lead singer changes and firings. Personally, I like these few songs off the album, Purified, The Great Hendowski, and Still YDG’n. (I will post a link to listen to these on the bottom of this review) Now if you haven’t heard of this band before, I would say they sound like Our Last Night, or Drop Dead Gorgeous but that’s just my own personal opinion because, beside this album, Of Mice & Men doesn’t have a lot of clean vocals.
Happy listening

LIFERUINER - SOSE (track)
Posted 14 years agoSo far these guys have spat out some okay at best tunes (I'm biased enough to like them, not-so-guilty pleasure, oh well). First album really isn't anything worth mentioning. I never listen to it. Taking Back The Night Life was sorta a step up, I actually listen to it from time to time but it's still not much more than brocore.
Guys disappear for a while then come back and drop this.
Still, it's nothing groundbreaking or new, but this coming from them kinda blew my mind. I just thought "whoa, guys finally grew up a bit". I'm stoked to hear the rest of the new EP which they'll be releasing for free sometime "soon".

We Came As Romans : New Album Announced + Deafheaven.
Posted 14 years agoNot much to share other than news for WCAR for those of you that are fans of them.
They just released a song from their new album "Understanding What We've Grown To Be" set to drop September 9th, titled "Mis//Understanding". It's really nothing special, I'm hoping the rest of the album is a little better but it's still solid.
QUICK EDIT. Okay so thanks to Deathwish's twitter, I just checked out the new release from Deafheaven "Roads To Judah" and it's SOLID. It's like shoegaze + black metal + post rock I guess, described in a review as Explosions In The Sky meets Behemoth meets Converge. It's kinda like Alcest and This Will Destroy You (if TWDY had blast beats and black metal vocals). It's chill but intense at the same time, deff worth a listen.

The Wonder Years: This is pop punk at its finest. If you dig Pop Punk at all, then you’ll be into these guys. They write realistic lyrics and if you’ve gone through shit in high school and college then you’ll relate. Pick up their album “The Upsides”.
Melrose Diner - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyYmgms8YV4
This Party Sucks - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZtx__Jn2GU
Kid Liberty One of the sickest easycore bands out there. Super nice guys with sick tunes. I booked them a few months back and the show was crazy. I got my tooth chipped. So you know they’re good.
Coolguy Deluxe! - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMyOpTctQng
Fireworks: This band is made up of really talented musicians and their bassist is missing a hand. They just released a new album called “Gospel”. If you like The Get Up kids, New Found Glory, Fall Out Boy or really any early pop punk/ emo stuff then you’ll be into this.
Summer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kb-bB8o-yEM
Title Fight: If you like pop punk and melodic hardcore stuff then this band is the perfect mix. Great lyrics, great music and amazing live.
27 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKqKM-gvK_w
Such Gold: Really great live band! They lean to more of the punk side of pop punk. Check out their “Stand Tall ep”
Four Super Bowls, No Rings - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KxuBAwGRWs
Me vs Hero: Good easycore band from the UK. Their music video is pretty awesome, they fight mimes. Fuck mimes.

Technical Death-Core Tuesday! Animosity/KOTA/HCTK
Posted 14 years agoSince i'm bored as piss, and have nothing but time at the moment.
I'll share some of my favorite bands, that are of the technical death-core variety
Most are bands that really got me into the scene back in the day, but have released a few new albums which are also good!
First and foremost, one of the bands that really got me into the death-core scene
Animosity
"Fake Blood"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPdQeOfK--c
Damn, it's so old, I wish they would re-record it or remaster it now haha.
I got into them in late 04, not too long before Empires was released.
Check out their newer stuff, it's abit heavier, and more technical (And better sound quality)
"TERRORSTORM"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRtI.....eature=related
Off their last album in 07.
Knight of the Abyss
"Megabrain"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=je52.....eature=related
Got into these guys late late 07 after Juggernaut was released.
Was honestly one of my favorite death-core bands at the time.
Their guitar work/vocals are nasty!
And fuck it, an all time favorite.
Here Comes The Kraken
"The legend of The Rent Is Way Hardcore"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdlifSVh2x8
Don't care how overrated their drummer is, or how shitty they are now.
Just sad to see an awesome mexican band just die :/
Well... Now I have a sad, so that's it.
Peace <3

The Devil Wears Prada "Born To Lose"
Posted 14 years agohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3W4D.....mbedded#at=117
I honestly think it's pretty good.
I personally love their guitar work.
BUT
It feels like it should have been put on Roots Above And Branches Below
So I don't know what to expect from their new album...
I've been a fan since their conception in 05
But I just don't know.
Their clear vocals sound alot better now, in my honest opinion
So what do you guys think?
Hopefully it's amazing like Plagues.
Sincerely, Probably the most hated furry in Florida <3

Some pretty chill dudes, and their tunes are fucking sick! GREAT LIVE SHOW!
I got wrecked from out of nowhere during one of their last breakdowns, got hit like 3 times in the face. Hit, then straight decked, and kicked. All by the same dude. but I was cool, just had dirt in my eye which was like the worst part, but he gave me a hug and it was chill haha
Elevations
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Eleva.....p_178091127385
Couple of pretty good tracks, they do 2 vocalists pretty awesomely!
Pits were good, and their presence was top notch!
The Analyst
http://www.facebook.com/theanalystm.....p_178091127385
Honestly, they remind me so much of Suicide Silence back in like 06-07
Their vocalist is pretty nasty, their presence is top notch and the pits were just fucking insane.
I personally dig their guitar work. Abit repetitive, but fucking nice.
That's about it for now, but this should be enough to feed your breakdown needs.
Peace

And also, just for shits and giggles.
An old local band of Ohio
Low On Air
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rka0iMvZo1Q
They're actually pretty sick live, too bad they've been broken up forever huh?
I wish the scene was still like this...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQPWzPvjBqU
Where all the people who supported local hardcore shit ACTUALLY came out to every show, and had fun.
Fuck you tough guys.

Here's some cool unsigned bands you should check out
Posted 14 years agoSourblood representing Columbus Ohio. Great live show, music is pretty tight too.
Sentients from Chardon Ohio. Great technical shit with a nice taste of prog. They're about to be recording an EP with the dudes from Born of Osiris.
Forever in Terror. Amazing instrumental work, metal as fuck but they still break it down. These guys deserve to be way bigger than they are(but aren't probably because they don't play open notes for 75% of their songs :p).
Ruled By Reason. Lots of melody, minimal chugga chuggas. Not to mention they are some of the most chill dudes out there.
Skies of December. Nothing ground breaking here, but if you ever get the chance to see them live, don't hesitate to do it, I don't care how far you have to drive.
Portals. This is what djent is supposed to sound like. 2 piece instrumental band shitting on every band in the 216.
Hester Prynne. They ARE technically an unsigned band now. Finishing up the rest of their 2 month US tour, check em out if they're coming to your city soon.
That's enough to keep you busy for now :p

THE COLOR MORALE/BELIE MY BURIAL/PERGAMUM +
Posted 14 years agoThe Color Morale - My Devil In Your Eyes
http://chugcore.blogspot.com/2011/0.....eyes-2011.html
PHENOMENAL album. If you like Emarosa (Relativity era) you'll get down with this. It's like them but heavier.
BELIE MY BURIAL, A sick as fuck band from pissburgh (2 hours short of hometown heroes for me) just dropped a fresh track on their myspace. It's absolutely killer. I'm hoping this is foreshadowing a new album from them because I've been dying for a full length from them since their 5 track self-titled EP dropped. http://www.myspace.com/beliemyburial
Destruction Of A King - Consumed
http://chugcore.blogspot.com/2011/0.....umed-2011.html
Nothing special, just some run of the mill chugs but if you're looking for some fresh breakdowns these guys have a few good ones.
Within The Ruins - Invade
http://www.ilikedyoubetterdead.com/.....vade-2010.html
Just posting Invade because I think we forgot to post it when it dropped. I didn't realize Chewy posted Omen (or the new FTFD) so I was about to post those but yeah, just now noticed haha. I picked up Omen in hot topic when I was out blowing all my birthday money and decided I'd give them another shot from the LP section for $9. I have no idea where the fuck my head was at when I listened to Invade the first time and blew it off but wow fuck me for that. Solid album (no need for I told you so's Jeff or Raz, I'm aware I fucked up there lol).
Stickup Kid - The Sincerest Form Of Flattery
http://www.ilikedyoubetterdead.com/.....-flattery.html
Nothing special here, just some pop-punk stuff. I just felt the need to post them because they have a song called "born in the vault, die in the vault" and I can't say no to a band that makes a Fallout reference.
La Dispute / Touche Amor - Searching For A Pulse / Weight Of The World
http://tinyurl.com/44r4yhl
La Dispute / KOJI - Never Come Undone

And FINALLY, Pergamum - The Promise
http://www.ilikedyoubetterdead.com/.....mise-2011.html
http://www.myspace.com/pergamumtheband
NOT GOING TO LIE, The album art caught my eye, Go figure, furfag moment BESPUSE ME. But seriously these guys are a LOT better than I was expecting. There's some SERIOUSLY GOOD RIFFAGE GOING ON WITH THIS ALBUM. Sick shit. If you take anything away from this post, be SURE to check these guys out.

Texas In July
Posted 14 years agoI am One Song In and I Am already impressed by what my ears are hearing.
the guitars are very melodic but heavy at the same time. It Reminds me of OLD AUGUST BURNS RED
hence Thrill Seeker :]
Vocals could use a tiny little more work but overall ou can tel he's putting everything he has in his work.
Drums are clean and easy sounding .....we need our fast pace beats at times damn it
I am very happy a band like this has come to the scene and trying to keep it alive.
no bickering or bullshit.
enjoy the music or dont.
its good for bands to progress instead of listening to the same breakdowns 50 times.
its repetative and gets old fast at times.
these guys will surely not dissappoint with their new album
enjoy guys and gals
take a listen and you decide =]

DEADHORSE / LOTS OF POST ROCK /BORN OF OSIRIS
Posted 14 years agoDeadhorse isn't hardcore or anything heavy but they are nothing short of fucking incredible. I had the pleasure of seeing them on the first stop of their new england tour last night and just wow. It's an intense emotional experience to see them play, they're passionate, fun and NICE AS HELL. If you like Explosions In The Sky or really any other post rock band you should definitely get into this.
http://post-engineering.blogspot.co.....e-our-own.html
Speaking of Explosions, their new album Take Care, Take Care, Take Care (uhhh okay?) dropped this month. I haven't checked it out but they've yet to disappoint.
http://post-engineering.blogspot.co.....care-take.html
And while we're on the subject of post rock still, I just randomly came across a post of the new This Will Destroy You album (I didn't even know they were working on a new one but yeah). Good stuff.
http://post-engineering.blogspot.co.....ou-tunnel.html
I've been lazy to get to this but the new Born Of Osiris is out. Again, I have yet to listen to it but I've heard mixed reviews, either HOLY SHIT IT'S AMAZING, or EH, THEY'VE GONE DOWNHILL FROM A HIGHER PLACE. I'll leave it up to you if it's solid or not.

Posted 14 years agoJust Thought I'd Let You Fuzzies know
that yes they are in fact back together
but Michael Crafter or Edward Butcher WILL NOT be on vocals.
In Stead They Have Jamie Hope (ex-The Red Shore)
Jona says he is still going to continue in Bring Me The Horizon as well =/
lets see where this goes. New album will be out next year.
