Memories make me want to go back there...
Posted 12 years agoI caught up to Uncle Kage on Saturday night just for a very, very brief talk. I wanted to thank him for keeping me sane, though I guess I worded it wrong (or maybe I worded it just perfectly enough that he could have a go at it because it was perfect).
Maybe I should have said something closer to "Thank you for helping me stay on the right side of insane."
I won't repeat what he said because I promise you I will get all emotional and pathetic (plus I can't remember every word now; the whole con was a whirlwind of amazing for me).
What I can say is simply this: Thanks for the laughter, Kage.

Dear lord...
Posted 12 years agoI love my friends. They couldn't be here with me this weekend for so many reasons, so I'm here by myself, but they've still made this whole thing (and my first fursuit) so much better.
It's ridiculous. I'm so damn grateful and just...content which, mind you, is something that rarely ever happens to me.
I have not had the people-induced panic attack(s) that I was so sure I would have, being out of town all alone, surrounded by hundreds of strangers and strangers-that-aren't-really-strangers-because-I-know-your-suit/character-omg at any given time. I do have social anxiety disorder...but it kicks in most often when I'm tossed into a situation that I don't actually want to be in.
Midwest Furfest? This is something I wanted and a lot of people in a lot of places came together to make it pretty much perfect. No, I'm not wearing the badges that were created for me and, no, I don't have paws at the moment because, let's face it, my luck isn't the best, but it's still all working out pretty brilliantly.
I've walked until my feet were screaming and then walked some more, spent more money than I rightfully should have (but let's face it, the con isn't over yet and I was thinking about selling that Dark Natasha print to someone, but I think I'll keep it instead because A) I am an asshole like that, apparently, and B) I've been a fan of Natasha for a long damn time), gotten Foxfeather totems, repeatedly died of cute, died of cute times three, sweated into my eyes in my first suit, laughed until I nearly fell out of my chair, shaken Uncle Kage's hand, heard some beautiful music, and discovered that I can finally touch my toes with relative ease (not entirely con-related, but still amazing news because weight-loss means I'm on my way to my first full suit).
And it is still not over.
I may have to try to spring for a shiny sponsorship to this thing next year because I am just that in love with it all. I will be back and I will be bringing friends. But for now, I must obey the 621 rule. There would be a second shower in it for me tonight, but my ankles are pissed at me, so standing up is a very bad idea right now.
Time to sleep so I can make some more memories.

Booked Up
Posted 12 years agoRoom booked, train booked, membership purchased, dog tag bought JUST BECAUSE (I walked out of Walmart and there was one of the machines...sue me), walkies charged...
One way or another, it is on.
See you in Chicago next week, bitches! (It'll definitely take my mind off of the funeral, that's for damn sure, though the man that died was just a shell...my Dad has been gone for years.)

Posted 12 years agoWhere are you staying?
Hyatt O'Hare. X3 I booked early.
What day are you getting there?
November 22nd. Seven hour (or so) ride once we get on the road.
Who will you be with?
Rainfurr and some other Cleveland natives. XD
Who will you hang out with during the convention?
Rain, those Cleveland natives, and whoever tacks themselves on.
Are there any panels you might be attending?
I have no idea. O.o;
Will you be suiting?
Hellyes, as
HarleyKaninchen
Do you do free art?
I don't art. I'm more of a writer, but I keep that to myself, mostly.
Do you do trades?
See above.
Do you do badges?
See above-above.
Do you do commissions?
See above-above-above.
What is your gender?
Female, though Harley is male.
How tall are you?
5'6", but the boots I'll be wearing make me roughly 5'8".
Are you taken? Are you looking for a 'mate'?
Single, not looking.
Can I talk to you?
Eeeyup, both out of suit and in-suit. Moving jaw, baby!
Can I touch you?
No bad touch, but I'm a hugger.
How can I find you?
Tweet me: TraumKaninchen.
Can I visit your room?
Err…it's a shared room that's sort of bound to be backed at any given time by furries, non-furries, and potential furries at any given time, yet it's not exactly a party. You'll have to get group approval, but if cats and rabbits and humans are drawn to you, sure.
Can I buy you drinks?
If we share a table, sure. I prefer Sprite or Mountain Dew…or a vodka and pineapple.
Can I give you stuff?
._. Don't give me anything. I can't give you anything back.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Hugs, sure. Snuggles? Well…do I know you? If not, probably not.
Are you nice?
I never really thought so, but I'm tolerant…but I also have a short temper.
How long are you going?
From the 22nd to the 25th.
Do you have an artist table?
Nah, but I'll be visiting some.
Will you be going to parties?
Maybe. >.>
Will you be performing?
Nope. Stage fright, man…
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Just call me by name. "Harley," "Kani," "Roadie," or "Nidi." Only close friends or people I really connect with get my real name.
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
Everywhere.
What/where will you be eating?
Wherever Rain drags us, at the hotel…wherever. XD
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
Again, group approval and there's no way in hell we can afford to pay for anyone else's food.
Can I look in your sketchbook?
If I have one, it will be empty and literally reserved for people to doodle in.
Can I draw in your sketchbook?
Hells. Yes.
Can I take your picture?
Out of suit, ask first. I hate seeing myself in pictures. In-suit, sure.
