I am a kittenhawk. I'm the equivalent of an outdoor housecat: I like adventure, but from time to time I'm content to curl up in my house with my twoleg. I often wear a collar with a bell.

Hawkflight (often abbreviated to Hawk)


2. What kind of character is it (furry, anime, etc) and any particular race?

Housecat with wings and talons, and really soft belly feathers. Feral, with anthro capabilities, like Cat from "Little Bear".


3. What is the first thing your character would think of when he/she first wakes up?

"Five more minutes, mommy......"


4. Your character's favorite outfit would be?

Being feral, he doesn't normally wear clothes. But he does have a lovely blue collar with a large golden bell, and blue hair ribbons.


5. When your character looks into a mirror, what's the first thing they would notice?

If his ribbons are on straight, after which he'll spend fifteen minutes trying to get them on just right.


6. Does your character have the same tastes in food as you?

Yep! (^_^) Also, being feral, he enjoys hunting mice, voles, and the like.


7. How is your character similar to you?

He has almost identical tastes. He's modeled after me in so many ways, it would take a long time to recount. It would be a lot quicker and easier to ask how he's different.


8. How is he different?

Much better! Well, the major difference is, he's 8 years old (or, 12 years younger than me). And of average height, maybe somewhat shorter, as opposed to I, who am abnormally tall. This means he can get away with being cute, wearing a dress if he wants, and even drinking from a bottle like he has on one or two occasions. Also, he has a pet baby dragon.


9. If your character could speak, would they have the same voice as you?

Yep. Well, the same voice as I had at that age.


10. If you were to suddenly become your character, what do you think would be the first thing you would do as them?

Well, obviously the first thing I would do is get things squared away. Making sure my friends and family know about it (especially since I still live with my parents). Then, after things settled down, I'd bond with my new pet baby dragon, then go out and play with kids my (new) age.


11. Is there something about your character that you don't like how others think of them?

Not really. Everyone treats him like a cub, which is good, because he is a cub.


12. What advantages does your character have over you?

He can fly. 'Nuff said. Also, he's just so danged cute!

He's small and young, so adults might not take him seriously, even when he has something important to say.

Don't think so. Well, there is that bell around his neck, buuuuut that's not important.

Not really. I do plan on starting an RP with a definite story though, with him as the main character.

People always, always forget his belly feathers, and that his front legs are talons. Not sure if that counts.

Yes. Mommy and daddy, who take care of things during sleepovers at my place . I've also made a "cool" version of him that's my age.

No, but I have RPed as him many times.

Oh, you wouldn't believe. First, he was an anti-hero "experiment" from the Lilo and Stitch world. Then he was a cat (still my age). Then he was a hawk, because I liked to fly. Then he was a cat again, then a kittyhawk, like he is today. Then he was feral, then anthro for a bit. Then feral again. Then he became the age he is today, then he regained some anthro capabilities, and now he even has a bedroom (which is where I host sleepover RPs over IM, lemme know if you wanna join me ^_^). I look forward to seeing what the future holds for him.

1 – Do you and your "fursona" look alike?

Weeeeell ... here's the story. When I was at Anime Boston, I asked someone to draw me as a cat. That was the basis, weather directly or indirectly, for pretty much every picture afterwards. I try to provide a picture of me to base my fursona off of whenever I have someone draw it, though this doesn't always happen (see:  simplepale;  brandimuffin).

That said ... my fursona is feral. That is, four legs, no hands. So that aspect is rather different. Also, my fursona is of average size for his species, even a little on the short side, while I am rather tall. But in build and facial features, we are similar.

2 – Do you and your "fursona" share attires?

Since my fursona is Sonic-style, i.e. naked (save for his fur, and collar with a bell) ... I'd have to say no. The one time I did make an anthro version of him, he wore nothing but pants, bad-ass earrings, and a lead gauntlet to prevent his nuclear powers from destroying everyone he loves. That ... is also not my attire.

Though, if I did an RP in a normal, modern setting, and used an anthro version of him, I'd probably dress him like I'm dressed right now: in a sassy t-shirt and jeans.

3 – Do you share the same sexuality as your fursona?

Yep. Male, through-and-through.

Well, I'd have to put him on two legs and give him some clothes. Grow him up about four-and-a-half feet.

Well, I couldn't decide on a hawk or a cat. I was a cat for a while, then I was a hawk for the longest time. Now, I'm experimenting with being a kittyhawk, a fusion of the two. Still trying to perfect my anthro form, but my feral form is all worked out.

I am a kittyhawk. I'm the equivalent of an outdoor housecat: I like adventure, but from time to time I'm content to curl up in my house with my twoleg. I often wear a collar with a bell.

Okay, I've been looking around this and many other sites, and there's one thing that annoys me. It seems that everyone here has gotten their ideas of what a meerkat is from The Lion King. Now, let me post a picture real quick of one of those meerkats:

That is NOT a meerkat. That is a scrawny, big-nosed, flabby-cheeked ... thing that's trying to pose as a meerkat anf failing horribly. The body is passable (or would be if it wasn't so skinny), but that face is just ... horrible!

Now, don't get me wrong. Timon is a fantastic character. He's just not a meerkat.

Now, there are plenty of pictures here I could use as examples. But I don't want to single anyone out. So I'll just leave it at this: Next time you're drawing a meerkat, just remember, draw a PROPER meerkat. Not those freaks from The Lion King.

Alright. I'm getting tired of people asking what a kittenhawk is, so I'm just going to post it here for all to see. It's small now, but hopefully it will grow in time.

First off, "kittenhawk" is the juvenile term for a member of the species, like "kitten", "puppy", or "fledgling". The adult form is a term that's currently under debate, as while "cathawk" is the officially accepted term, the term "hawkcat" is gaining more and more support. For the purposes of this document, we will use the terms “kittenhawk” and “cathawk”.

Kittenhawks and cathawks are, in the simplest terms, part cat and part bird. In this sense, kittenhawks and cathawks are not so different from gryphons, sharing many similarities with them. Gryphons have the head and wings of an eagle, and their front legs are talons, like an eagle. They also have a coat of feathers running up their entire front half. Their backside is that of a lion, having tawny fur and a lion's tail.

Cathawks, meanwhile, share more traits with the common household cat. They have the head of a housecat, and their main bodies are based on the body of a housecat. They have the wings of a bird, usually a member of the hawk family, though other types have been observed. Their front legs are talons, just like those of a bird of prey, or the front legs of a gryphon, only adapted for walking on four legs. That is to say, the back claw typical of talons is generally placed further up on the back of their legs, so that it does not get in the way when they are running. Their back legs are those of a common housecat as well. Their tails are, for the most part, like the tail of the common housecat, but their tails differ in that they have a tuft of feathers on the tip. This is a distinguishing feature of the cathawk, and one that few other species have.

Their fur pattern can seem complex, but it's really quite simple. Their heads are the head of a housecat, so that part of their body is covered in fur. Their feathers begin around the neckline. In very young kittenhawks, these feathers are quite fluffy, especially around the next where they form a ruff of sorts. This ruff helps to protect baby kittenhawks from being bitten in the neck by predators at a young age, and generally subsides into normal feathers within the first few months.

The feathers continue out over the kittenhawk's wings, but stop before going down its front legs, where it gives way to the scales typical of talons at around the knee. These feathers also continue down the belly, to its rear end. Fur travels down its back, and continues down the kittenhawk's back legs, and down its tail. At the very tip of the tail, there is another tuft of feathers. This tuft of feathers is also unusually thick on infants, and usually subsides into relatively normal feathers after a few months. But these feathers still stay somewhat fluffy into adulthood, creating an effect not unlike that of a paintbrush.
