LOCK IN
Posted a week agoI feel like I have an endless to-do pile and not enough energy to maintain even one thing, the energy I have while insufficient, must be divided into little pieces like a classroom pizza. That said, maybe ideal productivity is an illusion and a normal pace is anywhere from a once a month accomplishment to once a year. In this modern life I guess we've all done way more than our predecessors ever did. Day to day used to be about obtaining food and preparing meals I'll bet because those things by themselves take so much time. All the time I spend on one thing means I have less time on other things.
Things I think help:
one-pot meal recipes
instant coffee (also instant decaf)
instant oatmeal
ramen
having an electric kettle
yogurt
nut/seed butter
If there ever appears to be a moment where i'm dead, I'm not. I'm just out there doing my best :')

Posted 3 months agoVENT!! I have to tell somebody because the situation is ridiculous. I took my grandpa (Vietnam veteran with Parkinson's due to exposure to agent orange) to the VA for the first time in his life to sign him up for assistance and services (long story short his excuse was "other men needed it more") but he can't see or read the forms (too blurry) so I need to get him glasses. First two appointments I had to cancel because he didn't feel well enough to go. He needs a caregiver desperately but I can't get him one unless he can fill out and sign forms which he can't see (he refuses to fill out anything he can't personally read). And he's deaf. He can't hear phone calls. My aunt who has power of attorney to help him with his forms is too angry to help. THERE!! :(
I pay out of pocket for anything my family needs let alone mine. I need help but all I can do is draw.
So if you need any art in the future please consider me, or recommend me to people who need art because I can totally do it.

How's Life?
Posted 4 months agoIt's TMI (but what is the internet for if I can't tell a bunch of strangers really offputting personal details) but since November i've been experiencing the worst eczema flare of my whole life. I'm always dry, I'm always flaking, always itchy, shedding skin in great amounts to the point where I suspect it's making me sick. My skin is tough and raw. I'm recovering from a UTI. I think I may be undergoing perimenopause (this gives me a lot of bad dysphoria because I don't want to have anything to do with sex or gender). I haven't been able to get much in the way of help because how things are now, it was already difficult before but now everything is worse. Understandably because I'm American I'm not doing so hot. My grandmother also recently passed away. Nothing I can afford really relieves my chronic/constant physical pains and discomforts. The closest thing to comfort I can get is like an Arizona Iced Tea. Everyone I know is going through a hard time so I really hope we all make it.
ART FIGHT
Posted a year agoI'm team seafoam but in my opinion it doesn't matter so long as we have fun! https://artfight.net/~rapidpunches
There's no telling how quickly I'll be able to pull anything off but https://ko-fi.com/rapidpunches I'm also open for commissions, your OCs, emotes, icon/avatar/logo needs. My grandparents have reached their 80s and my grandpa has parkinsons so I've been helping weekly. The usual story I've heard from other peers as well is the elderly are stubborn, bad at self-care, and eat more junk food than is good for them so I don't know how else to describe the situation. Their mental faculties as well as physical have been slowing down and they're being left behind in a time where things are deteriorating so fast. My grandparents are flabberghasted by the cost of everything. A lot of what I earn goes to my family.
Let this be a gentle reminder to begin healthy habits early because by the time we get old apparently we'll be adverse to change. Eat oatmeal, eat yogurt, learn to love eggs if you're not allergic, and eat the occasional fresh fruit (a banana, canned peaches, perhaps berries). Love nuggets and or fish sticks. Make small changes to make things easier and more accessible to yourself even if it's drinking capri suns and juice boxes to stay hydrated.

Hello!
Posted 2 years agoWell the last three years has been a terrifying descent into a condemned mineshaft via a rather punishing rollercoaster. I barely get to catch my breath before I have to scream again. I did manage some family emergencies. I won a grant to do animation (it's on my youtube) and I'm still looking for work because whatever I make is still never enough for the things that happen to me daily. What with what's happening to the creative industry (twitter dumpster fire, animators being fired, writers on strike, AI generation) things have been more on fire than just metaphorically. It's May now now 80 to 90 F degrees lately. I haven't slept more than two hours a day for several years.
On the brightside however, i'm still making art and I'll update now!

Living is hard...
Posted 5 years agoI don't know what to say. The public library is closed. Some businesses are closing. I am afraid of a travel ban because I have to travel across states to address a family emergency. I've been trying to raise money for days on social media but everyone else is also having problems affording hand sanitizer, soap, and toilet paper. I'm open for commissions.

I have a Teepublic
Posted 6 years agoMy computer and everything (my external hdd and flash drives, cables) are pretty old and about to die (everything keeps unmounting) so I've been volunteering time to FreeGeek to earn a new one. I need to complete 24 hours of service but getting on the schedule is hard! I have only completed 7.5 hours so far.
I had to cancel my internet a few months ago becauae I couldn't afford it and have been relying in the public library for internet mostly. I have data on my phone but posting art via a phone/hotspotting is a little slow and complicated!
If you want to help out I have a ko-fi and a teepublic where you can get my art on t shirts!
https://ko-fi.com/rapidpunches
T-Shirts are on sale for $13 so go check them out!
https://www.teepublic.com/user/rapidpunches
QwQ hopefully I can get back on track soon.

I'm not dead
Posted 7 years agoI cried all day Tuesday but I have some commissions and nice people came through. I have a bag potatoes to be the staple of this month. And I have instant oatmeal. I'll try to make some new art soon.
I need food money
Posted 7 years agoI thought I was going to have food money this month so I wasn't worried.
But I'm not going to have any.
It's my birthday later this month on the 17th and I wanted to save up to buy new hard drives but I'm not going to be able to. I have to eat. I can't have anything.
Commissions are open please consider me or referring me to anyone who might be interested.

Lubuntu and FOSS graphics drawing stuff!
Posted 7 years agoJust some stuff for my personal reference (or yours if you're interested in it!) since I've been tinkerng with my computer a lot trying to get the best performance out of it. I recently tried to install Arch Linux then Arch Bang to no success : ( then went back to lubuntu. I might retry later or go to a different distro if I get antsy.

AzPainter on Ubuntu with a Star G430S XP-Pen Tablet
Posted 7 years agoHello! Things have been slow for me since the cord on my old tablet frayed all the way through. My main rig is also intermittently restarting and getting stuck in boot loops. I have a new Star G430S graphics drawing tablet now and after downloading and installing the driver from digimend
https://github.com/DIGImend/digimen.....kernel-drivers
(UPDATE: You can build everything below but you can also apparently download and install from the .deb packages or the .AppImage very easily!)
Something like:
Going and getting the DIGIMEND driver for my tablet at https://github.com/DIGImend/digimen.....ivers/releases
$ sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic
$ sudo rmmod hid-kye
$ sudo rmmod hid-uclogic
$ sudo rmmod hid-huion
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo tar xzvf /home/USERFOLDERNAME/Downloads/digimend-kernel-drivers-7.tar.gz
$ cd /home/USERFOLDERNAME/digimend-kernel-drivers-7
$ sudo ./configure
$ sudo make
$ sudo make install
$ sudo reboot
(Tablet works in GIMP very well!) I also downloaded and installed AzPainter:
https://github.com/Symbian9/azpainter
Something like (because I don't remember anything):
$ sudo apt-get -y install gcc make libx11-dev libxext-dev libxi-dev libfreetype6-dev libfontconfig1-dev zlib1g-dev libjpeg-dev
$ sudo apt-get -y update
$ sudo apt-get -y install libpng-dev
$ tar xf /home/YOURUSERFOLDER/azpainter-continuous.tar.gz
$ cd azpainter-continuous
$ sudo ./configure

Hello!
Posted 7 years agoI'm new here and I don't know what to say so I guess I'll introduce you to my favorite programs. On Linux (I was using Linux Mint until an update broke mine so then I switched to Ubuntu), I like GIMP and mypaint. I draw at least more than half of the sharks on these two programs. My GIMP though is tricked out with GIMP PAINT STUDIO brushes.

On windows I use FireAlpaca or Medibang Paint Pro. I have to commute a lot and I'm usually on free wi-fi or an old computer so the little things I like a lot because they aren't resource heavy and they're free!
http://firealpaca.com
https://medibangpaint.com/en/
And I use an XP-Pen Star 03 tablet! They're cheaper than Wacoms so that's why I use them.

I guess that's all I got for an introduction ... γΎ(γ»Ογ»ο½)
