Statistics
General | Posted 4 years agoI hate people's excuses to write off basic statistics to justify their tedious and asinine opinions, like saying "1% of America's population is over 3 million people". Yes, and 99% of America's population is over 300 million people. Do you see why 99% is a more significant number than 1% statistically speaking? Of course, I know that this is just an emotional thing for them. 2+2 might as well equal 5 if they feel like it needs to be to justify being a fucker.

Regarding criticism and new artists
General | Posted 4 years agoJust saying "art is subjective, just have fun" and things like that is not helpful. I used to not have fun when drawing, now I do, I'm 90% sure becoming better at it had something to do with that. Regardless telling me to have fun wasn't what made it happen, and definitely not telling me to not take art seriously. We draw diapers, no matter how silly it is, we're still artists for better or for worse.
When I was a new artist I constantly had people obviously make up nice things to say about my art even when I literally asked them what they thought. That doesn't apply to all praise mind you, this is a different thing. It's really obvious when it happens. It sucked and felt patronizing as hell especially in hindsight. Don't be that guy.
I learned better from people telling me my art sucked, especially if they told me what sucked about it. One of my big jumps in quality was literally when somebody pointed out I was fucking up how to draw the human spine, so I learned how to do it right. Even if he was the slightest bit callous about it, he was right and I thank him for it.
Also I hate it when people say "you can't just say my art is bad, you're not a better artist than me". If you think about it, that makes no sense because for someone to improve in the first place they probably can see that their own is inferior, so basically they are constantly in a state of not being a better artist than themselves so by that logic they can't say their own art is bad.

A thought on male sex stereotypes
General | Posted 4 years agoNote: Sex stereotypes and "gender" are essentially synonymous
I usually don't use the word "femboy" or "trap" so as not to describe any man as "feminine", for the sole reason that it's not true. Sometimes I do say femboy, but only because it's at least useful because people know what I mean when I say it, but I'd like it if people would use it less. No matter what a man looks like or how a man dresses, that should have no implication on his identity as a man or especially not his sexuality whatsoever. As a side note, a man's sexuality doesn't have to have any implication on him either. You do not need to change anything about yourself to fit society's expectation.
What's described as "feminine" doesn't even make much sense. Being cute and pretty is seen as feminine, yet many females are neither of those things. If anything it just describes an idealized vision of what a female is, something that barely exists. If that can describe men just as well, or even better than most females, then is it really feminine? To a lesser extent, I also think the concept of being "manly" is invalid, but I think it's fine if a man personally identifies with manliness. I find it admirable when a man goes against what society considers masculine but doesn't let that stop him from feeling manly.
That isn't to say "real men wear pink" or anything of the sort. If you think saying that is okay, stop. It does not support the cause. Sexism against men cannot be solved by more sexism against men.

The paradox of tolerance
General | Posted 4 years agoThe conclusion you should draw from the paradox of tolerance should be that a "tolerant" society either doesn't last or doesn't remain tolerant for long, not that your endless (highly intolerant I might add!) moral crusade is somehow justified.
Tato did nothing wrong

Degenerate
General | Posted 4 years agoDegenerate can mean a lot of things and it says a lot about someone when they immediately take great offense at it. They fill in the blanks with the worst things about them.

Gender isn't real
General | Posted 4 years agoAnd if you're nodding along with me when I say that, I hope you also know that sex *is* real and there are only two of them.
Diaper God update
General | Posted 4 years agoI figure I should actually use journals to say something relevant to my content for once instead of what I've been using it for. Pixiv doesn't have journals so this is kind of the one place where I can say things to my audience whenever I feel like it, for that reason this is also hitting you a little bit sooner here than there,
First, sorry for the lack of posts. I am currently sitting on a great many unfinished things, but I'll be posting some soon.
The next thing, remember that writing project I mentioned a while ago? I've been writing more of that, and it's coming along great. I've been working on it for over 2 years, ever since I first drew Hilda and the boys. It's very much become my main project, my thing. As such I'm giving it time to do it right. I'm looking forward to finally releasing it.
