Just as a heads-up, I'm temporarily closing comms while I work on my backlog. I definitely have some tweaks I want to make to my sheet and process as well to hopefully make things a bit smoother, and will be opening back up once I finish all my current YCH requests and polish up some outstanding comms

Well, I think it's about time I make a journal about this.

I don't have high hopes things will get better there long-term with the new policies, so rather than mope around about it, I made a SubscribeStar. I'll be uploading my backlog of exclusives there, and I'll be making an archive of all my full res and sketch files.

Additionally, I'm replacing the Patron Pic reward for supporters. It just isn't a sustainable option, basically making people wait for a reward they may only get once, and having such a waiting list built up when multiple people join in a short period. Instead, patrons who are eligible for one and haven't gotten one yet will be able to get in touch with me to redeem theirs, and after those are done, I will be doing more exclusives each month. I feel spending my energy making more content that all of my supporters can participate in and enjoy is a better use of it.

Gonna be closing up the Struggling to Stand YCH. As of now I have a few left to go, and I'll be at 80 of 'em, not including any of the alts. That's a whole lot, and I'm happy that it was this popular! But, now that regular comms are open again, I'm going to shift focus back to that and my usual Patreon content for a while. I will absolutely do more YCHs in the near future, I want to make them a regular thing. I'm also considering reopening it again later if there's enough interest, perhaps alongside the next one or if my comm queue gets a bit sparse. We'll see, I'd be interested in knowing your thoughts!

Well, this milestone snuck up on me! I've hit 1k watchers on here! I'm extraordinarily happy to see this many people like my drawings enough to support me. If I didn't have the current YCH going, I would do something special for the occasion, so I'll just have to come back once that's cooled off and set up something~

So, to help with getting some feedback and to get a better grasp of my progress and audience, I want to hear which of my pieces are your favorites! Feel free to link them in the comments or something, I'm always curious to see what stuff resonates the most.

Today marks 2 years since I first started drawing. If I had better time management, I'd probably have made something to celebrate.

I never really thought I'd get this far, yet now I only really want to go further. It feels odd to look back on it, given it was such a spur of the moment thing, something I only ever expected to be a side hobby I'd toss aside after I got bored of it after a few months. But now we're here. I still can't say I'm fully happy with my own work. Some days that feeling gets to me, other days it makes me want to just keep working until maybe some day I could be.

Admittedly, my mood lately has not been the best. Life's just been a bit hard. But, I can't help but be grateful through it all to know that I've made some things that people seem to enjoy. I hope to make more. I'd love to get to know more of the people who've inspired me, do more fun and spontaneous things like trades or raffles, get more confident in my work and put myself out there more. Maybe it's selfish to want to do and be so much more, but I definitely don't want this to be "it". And I'll work to make sure it isn't.

Just getting straight to the point, I'm gonna be giving some other platforms a try over the next while alongside my current ones. I tend to draw my pieces on very large canvas sizes, A3 paper, 300ppi, which comes out to 4960 x 3508. This is... large. So large, in fact, that to even upload to FA, they need to be compressed in a JPG or downscaled, and on Twitter, they automatically get JPG'd. Aside from the commissioner (or myself for personal stuff) nobody really got to experience the full, uncompressed versions. So, I started a Patreon for them here: https://www.patreon.com/HeftyScales

It's $3 per month to get the full size, uncompressed, PNG versions of my works, as well as the sketches that started the piece off! There is an additional $5 tier, where you can get WIP updates on pieces, as well as a 24 hour early access to certain personal works/sketches. Ultimately, I don't want anyone to be truly missing out on anything with me using Patreon, so I hope this will allow those who want to support me to do so with some tangible benefits, while still not alienating those who aren't interested.

Since I posted and shared my 'sona, I've gotten a bunch of very flattering and supportive compliments. It might not be many given how small my audience is, but I didn't realize until now that I've never really had someone tell me they like the look of my body, and I just need to say thanks. For the first time in probably over a decade, I actually felt like I wanted to exercise. So, I've started doing some light workouts in my apartment between projects, and I have to say, having this positive feedback made it feel good to do. I don't plan on losing fat, I'm always going to have a large gut, and at this point in my life I honestly really like that look. Instead, I feel a stronger desire to just keep myself healthy. Though, I wouldn't be upset about getting some big muscles to go with the big belly...

College has been a bit of a dark time, and I wish I had started using drawing as an outlet before my final year, it might have made things far less difficult.
