Hey all. I'm alive and all that. I've actually been here all this time, faving submissions and reading journals. I'm like a ghost, man.
It's interesting none of you have taken me off your watch list yet. Just sayin'.
So I have some news. My Chemical Romance related news. If you're not a fan of them, that's fine and all, just this journal probably isn't relevant to you any more.
Apparently some idiots thought it'd be okay to start stalking the band members and their families, and harassing them, and sending them offensive and disgusting material. The guys are understandably upset with the entire fanbase, even though only a small portion acted in such an appalling way.
So this group on deviantART called Operation-MCRmy has started this project and is having people submit visual apologies and the founder is going to compile them into a video and send it to MCR. Although this project is coming to a close and the video is being made as I type this, there's still an opportunity to help out.
My point is, if anyone reading this loves My Chemical Romance, and wants to help, send one or all of the guys a note on Twitter and/or Facebook saying sorry about the disrespect, or thanks for all that they do, or mentioning Operation-MCRmy. Anything.
The fact that the fanbase is pulling together to try to make things right is beautiful and amazing, and I'm proud to be a part of it all. I love the MCRmy and all the wonderful things we are capable of doing.

today i went hiking with Allysia and we took photos of random stuff. at one point we came across a whole hillside of moqui marbles the size of fricken softballs. so expect some photos of those things. :D
the weirdest part though, was the silence. it was so quiet out there today!!! usually, you can hear bugs and the wind, or some car or airplanes even, but nope. it was eerie, especially for me, 'cause i tend to feel uneasy when there's complete silence. so i just cranked up whatever was playing in my head at the time (which happened to be Marilyn Manson lol) to drown out the quiet.
but it was cool. i practiced using the zoom on Allysia's camera and that was real fun. and we found this old barbed wire fence that had fallen over, so i tried to get some good shots of that, but i'm not sure how well they turned out. :P
anywho, yeah. i'll post a bunch of pics from that hike...eventually. i have trig homework to do first. >.<

that's right!!! it's the fifth anniversary of My Chemical Romance's music video for "Famous Last Words". and i know this sounds insignificant and totally not worth making a big deal about and a lot of people are gonna think "wow, this chick needs a life" but imma talk about it anyway.
it's not the fact that this amazing, beautiful, empowering, wonderful song has been around for five + years that's amazing. what's amazing is the fact that people (not just me) feel that this song (and this band) is worth celebrating. i think that says something about MCR, yes? this song in particular has saved so many lives (including my own) and has brought hope to those who have none.
okay now i'm starting to cry lol. but really, this band means the world to me. listening to The Black Parade has really helped with my depression and made me feel less alone. you cannot imagine the amount of gratitude i feel toward MCR.

Restoration is a tricky business, especially when it comes to abandoned buildings. They’re fragile, dangerous, and often full of poisons, like lead paint or asbestos. It’d be a lot easier to just tear them all down and build something new. However, these buildings hold architectural as well as historical significance that can’t be reclaimed once they’re gone.
By restoring abandoned buildings, we can preserve local heritage. For example, where I live, there are five old homes along Main Street dating from when the pioneers first settled in the area. No one touches them. With every passing year, they fall apart more and more, and no one is doing anything to fix them up. The ironic thing is that the town spends thousands of dollars on fireworks for the Pioneer Day celebrations every year. Why not celebrate our heritage by putting that money toward fixing up the homes our ancestors once lived in?
As far as city planning goes, abandoned buildings take up space. To solve this problem, the city could either remodel the existing structure and use it as living space or tear it down and build something new. While it is cheaper to tear down the original structure and start over with new materials, this is wasteful and pollutes the surrounding environment. New materials are often produced in factories that use chemicals in their products. These chemicals leak into the soil of the building site and harm native plants and animals. So think of restoration as another way to recycle or reuse materials.
The problem with restoration is that not all of the original materials can be salvaged. A lot of things will have to be replaced, which is expensive. Old buildings often have asbestos or lead paint everywhere, so that’s another thing to consider. Some are so beyond repair that they hardly look like buildings at all. I realize that not all abandoned buildings can be saved. The ones that are salvageable won’t stay stable for long. Something has to be done before they all fall apart completely. If we aren’t careful, architectural styles could start disappearing. If architects don’t adopt these older styles, they could become extinct.
Some buildings are abandoned because something terrible happened there. It is easy to see why people wouldn’t want these buildings restored to society because they hold bad memories. Even if a new structure is built there, those bad memories cling to the land. But if we don’t restore them, what is to be done with them?
