Taking two surprise sketch slots-$110 each- CLOSED
Posted 4 years agoMental energy has been a bit low these past two days so I'll be doing two surprise sketches of whatever I fancy for those who fancy throwing their characters to my creative muses. If you're interested you can note me with characters and preferences as well as whether or not you're willing to experiment in terms of subject matter.
General subject matters that might happen:
- Pon TFs
- Objectification
- canon character outfitting/TFs of the shiny variety
Just keep in mind that these might go quickly since I plan to not take more than I can carry this time around.

Apologies for the art dump

Opening for one-off surprise sketches- CLOSED
Posted 5 years agoHey my dudes,
Been kinda uncertain of what I should do with myself this sunday before I get back to docket work. I didn't want to do anything too big either so I figured I'd try to do something like my usual surprise sequences but with a single one-off image or two if the result is extremely simple. These will look a lot like this here but with only a single end result or mid-change image:
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/33311140/
The usual info applies: I'll need emails, refs, and a list of preferences if you want to keep it within what you're comfortable with. I'll be opening up to three for now and then I'll see if I feel up to doing more a bit later tonight but for now go ahead and note me if interested.
That said, take care for now, friends <3
EDIT:
Boy that was fast, I'll have to do more if I can find the time this week

Taking squeaky pokemon sketch pages
Posted 6 years agoSo I'm trying something a little new since I started getting on this kick. Which is opening up to contributions to seeing certain mons being done up as chubby, squeaky cuties like these over here:
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/34.....che=1576054769
These'd be $60 each and you can toss me whatever mon you'd like as a suit, inflatable, gooey, general squeaky mon and I'll do it up like in those sketches with as much or as little prompting as you'd like.
However once these are done I'll be taking a break from doing any more comms until my current log is done. Thank you everyone for being patient and dealing with my erratic creative energy - 3-

Calling for muse guinea pigs!
Posted 6 years agoSo a fair few already saw this on twitter but I'll try to keep it brief:
Random art ideas still keep coming to me but I also want to take a break from the stress of comms while I get what I have left of my queue done. So I'll be doing a once in a blue moon thing and opening up to any and all character refs for potential use for random kink ideas that come to me over the course of this week and over my vacation in December. You won't be seeing the results of what I do until it's done and if you'd like to see or avoid my more out there ideas just say so in the comment along with your ref.
VERY IMPORTANT: Please don't go into this with any expectations what so ever, I want to keep this lighthearted and fun and there's only so many things I'll be able to sketch. I'd say focus more on the enjoyment of seeing who gets subjected to what rather than crossing your fingers that you get selected since I've had a ton of takers already. But I do also want to see everyone's lovely characters as well as those from people I haven't worked with before. This also doesn't necessarily mean I won't be doing any more comms until the end of December since I'll likely still be doing YCHs in the event that I want to put much more effort into a particular idea.
ANYWAY, I do hope I've set something up here that'll allow us all to have a little bit of fun with this and I look forward to showing everyone what I end up doing :3

Surprise sketches: spookmas edition -CLOSED-
Posted 6 years agoaaaaaaaaaaaaaalright. It's been a busy and stressful week so I could use something a little more laid back to do. I'll be opening some surprise sketch comm spots for those who are interested and I'll be doing them over the next week or two. These will be generally spookmas themed and they'll be $100 a pop (with a new option for a twice the length for $200 for those who are feeling saucy) They look like these with a few panels leading up to an end result:
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/33201333/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/32206494/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31721616/
Generally the way I do these is you can give me as wide a range of things you like as possible as well as whether or not you're up for experimenting a bit (along with the usual refs and such of course). I'll be taking on batches of about four at a time so I don't get swamped. That said, toss me a note with the usual info and emails and I'll let ya know if I still have room. Some might also notice that there's a bit of a markup on these and that's due to me taking a lot more time and effort with these with a more consistent size than I used to do. I'd like to make the quality on these a bit more consistent than I have before but I also need to make sure that it's worth the time invested.
Also, don't forget: The skeletons are everywhere this season. There may be one that's closer than you think.

On the topic of pricing and icons inparticular
Posted 6 years agoHeyo,
So yadayada I don't post updates a lot here anymore yadayada I mostly do those on twitter now yadayada. You've likely heard that already so I won't tire people with it.
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuut I will toss this one over here since I know there's a decent amount of people who follow me here but also don't really like using twitter. This is just a general announcement for some minor pricing changes on a few things but this is mostly pertaining to icons and their availability for those who have been asking for them a lot as of late:

Surprise sketches once again -CLOSED-
Posted 6 years agoI should do some work but I might just chilax with some more of those surprise comms if anyone wants to throw money at my face. $60 for a little sketch sequence/collage as per usual and anything goes this time around. If you're interested you can note me with the usual relevant information.
For those who don't know the gimmick here is that the outcome is meant to be a surprise for those who like one. But you can throw me certain subject matters that you'd prefer.

$60 Experimental sketch sequences
Posted 6 years agoHeyooooo,
I'm in an experimental mood this weekend. So I'll be doing some more of those surprise sketch sequences. Likely three? I'll see. Note me with info as per usual.
Also, experimental entails pretty much anything unusual or weird like this stuff here:

Life update
Posted 6 years agoHeyo,
So a very small update on the state of things. This is something of a continuation of my previous life update post where I went over trying to pair down my (not paid for) waiting list.
So first thing's first; My backlog is almost entirely clear. I know I had been saying this since like....august I think? Life happened, life happened a lot. But this time it's true. I should have everything paired down entirely by tomorrow and then after that I'll be entirely free again for the first time in roughly four or so years. So what does this mean exactly?
I'll be honest and say my creative enthusiasm has taken a bit of a hit in recent years. I find unless I'm intensely invested in something for one reason or another I usually just want to get a piece done in a relatively quick manner short of it looking rushed. Which has become a bad habit and its hurt my creative development as a result. The answer here was to take things at a more healthy pace and trying to focus on things I'm more invested in on a moment-to-moment basis.
The issue is that now-a-days I have a lot of people coming to me through DMs asking if I'm available or if I can do something specific for them. Though normally one might say to pay attention to when commission availability is officially announced but I tend to not like doing that. I recognize and deeply appreciate that my audience wants to work with me that much and I try my best to accommodate since most of them aren't pushy about it.
But the problem lies in their frequency. One or two every now and then is fine but I've gotten to the point where I get approached about commissions almost every other day and sometimes even more. One promised commission can quickly turn into three and then into five and so on until I've suddenly booked the next two weeks worth of work for myself. This results in me never really being able to catch my breath or pace myself properly. Not to mention it gets in the way of me wanting to pursue different projects or even taking a break to do other adulting things that I've put on the backburner for too long.
So what I'm trying to get at here is I need to pace myself more. As much as I truly want to not disappoint anybody I need to change how I do things further than I already have in recent months. Though this mostly just means me asking people to pay attention to when commission availability is officially announced with only the occasional exception. Which I do admit may be a little erratic since I've been doing well with YCHs and limited subject comms. I know this may come as a disappointment to some but you have to understand that I've had a bloated commission log that I've made it my mission to finish for about four years now and I desperately need a break from being five steps behind at all times.
SO ANYWAY. That's all I really wanted to say. I know this is common knowledge for a lot of artists but I guess it's been harder for me since I grew up always wanting to make everyone happy even to the detriment of my own mental health. I've made a lot of mistakes and learned a lot of lessons trying to get to where I am now and I suspect this won't be the last either. Which is why I do still want people to be open about things that I might be doing wrong so I can continue to get better.
I do also want to mention that I might be using this extra time/mental space to start looking into a backup skill set to compliment this job in the event that it might become less viable through either my life situation or the extremely unpredictable state of the various tools and websites I need to do this job. But we'll have to see where life goes from here first. Again, I want to thank everyone for their understanding and monumental patience throughout the past few long and extremely eventful years and I do hope I can continue to please long into the distant future.

$30 weird/experimental sketches [CLOSED FOR NOW]
Posted 6 years agoRealized I haven't really done any of these over here in a long time so I figured I might throw this one out for people who don't really use twitter.
Anyway, I'm in an experimental mood this weekend so I'm gonna do some little $30 sketches for those interested.

I'd say throw me pretty much anything aside from my hard donts that you can read over here on the starting line of the second page:

That said, throw me a note if you're interested and just keep in mind that these tend to go pretty quickly.

Slow uploads
Posted 6 years agoHey guys, gals and non-binary pals,
So I apologize that my uploading here has been basically non-existent. For about a month now I've been dealing with extremely slow upload speeds and random disconnects. The upload speeds being the biggest issue since it's so slow that most attempts to post things time out before they can get through and I've had to suffice with small twitter posts and sending things through dropbox. We had someone sent to check the area only to have them say there was no issue. We called about it again, had someone come in to check our line and modem only to be told that NOW there might be an area issue. We were given a general time frame of about a week for these fixes but we might consider switching providers if things don't improve within two weeks.
If it does come to that then I might make do with throwing up a journal or two with dropbox links just to let everyone know I'm not dead. buuuuut that's it. No other real updates other than that.
Stay cute my dudes :o

2019 going forward/ note to future commissioners
Posted 6 years agoHey there,
So I know not everybody follows my twitter so I felt it would probably help if I posted this here as well:
About a year ago I dedicated myself to clearing my backlog through either sheer work or refunding whatever I just didn’t have the creative spark for while also not taking any large chunks of work that would take more than a week to finish.. Luckily that has paid off and I’m almost entirely clear of the massive backlog that kept cycling new and old work over the years.
But now I feel the next step in breaking my bad habits is going to be learning to say no or at least sticking to only when I’m properly available for commissions. This is a point of personal conflict for me because I truly do love getting IMs from people who want to get different things and I want to be able to accommodate them in some way since I do feel that making people scrap for specific grades or amounts of work when I open commissions up to the public feels a little impersonal. It’s also a little unfair to people who live in radically different time zones from myself..
But this has grown into an issue where I can’t bring myself to say no to some people and I end up dedicating myself to doing work at later dates when I’m available and naturally that builds up just as much as when I used to take on ten plus commissions at one time. Though this is nowhere near as anxiety-inducing as when I’d hold on to people’s money and not produce work for them for months at a time it still has similar effects of causing me undue stress and burning me out creatively.
Though at the same time I don’t to want to absolve myself of any personal blame in this scenario. There are also plenty of instances where I clearly show excitement for an idea or I come to someone else about potential ideas and that feels far shittier to leave people hanging with. This is another aspect of this habit that I need to learn to kick/ find better outlets for; which I’ve recently been doing with buy-in YCHs. I know there’s only so much an apology will do in this scenario but I hope that there’s at least a bit of solace in me saying that I don’t blame you at all, I’m a little embarrassed at how I still make these mistakes after just hitting about five years of doing this job.
So what does this mean exactly? Not much in regards of me asking anything of my audience. I just wanted to get my thoughts out there and at least share the reasoning why I’m trying to change how I do business over time. The worst thing I worry about is seeming unfriendly or unapproachable and I do hope that maybe this will help show that I don’t mean for anything I say to come across as such. It’s simply me weaning myself off the habits that are unsustainable and trying to find a middle ground that works best for both my audience and my very erratic creative process.
For most this will likely not mean much, I write this mostly for those who I’ve done this to and if you’re reading this I sincerely apologize for my own lack of professionalism. If nothing else I am happy that I’ve almost got this gig in a space that I’m happy with and is sustainable as a job I can do without constant anxiety or massive sudden workloads.
So! TLDR: I’m going to be making a better effort to sticking to only doing commissions or promising to do them at a later time when I have officially announced that they’re open.

Cool YCH shoutout
Posted 7 years agoHey my dudes,

I put the first bid on one of the poses but I'll happily let anyone take over my spot if they fancied. I just didn't want to see this pic go by without seeing any attention.

Taking comms for next week -CLOSED-
Posted 7 years agoSo! Good news: Mum has a new job that she'll be starting next week. Bad news: utilities and internet still need paying. As much as I don't like to do this any more I might have to queue up comms for next week early just so things get safely paid off. I don't have any particular format I'm limiting this to, just whatever I'll have time for. If you're interested you can peek at my rates over here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/.....rFZXqMdY8/edit and you can note me here on FA or IM me on twitter.
Taking one detailed slot
Posted 7 years agoIt looks like I have a small gap in my work schedule this week so I'll be taking one quick detailed pic at the usual price of $110. If anyone is interested they can DM with the info, just keep in mind that this is first come first serve.
Taking detailed pieces. -CLOSED-
Posted 7 years agoHey dudes, I'm sorry I don't post too many journals around here anymore, I tend to make most of my announcements and shitposts over on twitter now if you want to check things out over there: https://twitter.com/ShinyHelix
That said, some financial issues have come up over here so I'm going to have to take on a batch of comms. I'll be taking five detailed pieces over the course of this coming week at $110 each as usual and you can note me if you're interested. I can potentially do mini panels with them but that will vary on a case-by-case basis.
Slots:
1.Yahjuu
2. Ardwin-arache
3.JWP
4.Petoflatex
5. icyfoxy
