New comm sheet
Posted 7 years agoHey dudes,
So after a lot of thinking it over I went and tweaked my commission structure and added some other details I'm often asked or come up during the commission process. The bulk will be a word doc so I can easily change things or swap out more relevant references but I will be working on a piece of art as a header that will replace the current featured art piece on my front page. Go ahead and lemme know what you guys think:

Posted 8 years agoSpoomas comm queue open!
Posted 8 years agoOkay! So here's how we're gonna do this:
I have a pending queue. That means your name and comm description will be on a list that I will be drawing from in the coming weeks. I will be noting you when I'm ready to start on your commission and payment will be processed once I start on it. Please note, there is no guarantees I'll have time to get your request done before October is over. I might still do a few more after October but there are no guarantees. I just want to get across that it's very possible that I won't have enough time or creative motivation to do everyone's halloween pics and that I might have to move on to other work. This is also to prevent the issue I've had of taking on too many comms at once and leaving them to languish on my comm list after I've burnt out on a subject.
Next up: Normal comm rates will be used for this: $65 per basic shade character and $85 for detailed shades. I'll also still be open to the colored sketches I've been doing over the past few weeks for a more cost effective alternative. Those are $40 each with mini panels varying depending on complexity. If you're interested you can note me with a solid description of what you'd like, what length and commission grade you had in mind, and any relevant refs you can provide.
This here is a list of ideas you guys can draw from. You're not restricted to them but they're a good resource if you're interested in commissioning but don't have any ideas in mind: https://docs.google.com/document/d/.....it?usp=sharing
ALL THAT ASIDE, I'm really excited to be able to do something with this halloween season for once and I'm certain I'll have fun with these :3

Spookmas ideas
Posted 8 years agoSo I'm slowly prepping for spookmas this year. Once I have some more pressing things cleared out I'll be trying to take on a few spookmas comms once I have the time and to kick it off I started talking shop with some people and came up with some ideas people can opt in on if you want an early peek and to maybe suggest some ideas yourself: https://docs.google.com/document/d/.....it?usp=sharing
Pony dolls: last call
Posted 8 years agoOkay!
So the pony doll thing ended up taking off a bit more than expected. I decided I'll be doing a last call for them and then I'll be getting back on track with backlog work and some other recent comms I've yet to get to. Most of the income from all of these will also be going towards a few refunds and a birthday present of some variety for one of my brothers.
Anyway, if you want in on a pony doll pic they're $40 for a colored sketch and you can get mini panels as well for $10 each (example: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/24863695/ ). Go ahead and note me the details if you're interested. I'll also not be taking anymore comms upfront unless I intend to finish them within a week or two's time so I'll only be adding people to a queue and then invoicing them once I'm ready to start on their request.

Plans going forward, refunds for older work
Posted 8 years agoHey dudes,
So I wanted to cut to the point on this one, I don't want to be too ambitious or flowery with this. Heck knows I've done that too much and not really have anything come of it. So I've come to the realization that I have a pretty fickle muse. That meaning that my interest tends to fall off pretty substantially if I let an idea stagnate for too long. I'm sure a good few of you have noticed that with how long they've had to wait for me to do work they've commissioned from me. I rarely do this out of laziness, this tends to happen because I've gotten too excited in the past and queued up too much work at once or sudden expenses come up and I have to pay for them quickly by taking on a bunch of work (This was especially terrible when I didn't charge as much for my work as I do now). It also doesn't help when I have to come back to a sketch after I've gotten better since I drew it. The problem comes when, as I said, I lose interest in an idea and I find making progress with it much more difficult. It's caused me to not make enough progress with backlog work when I set out to do it and I'd end up burning out for up to a week as a result of trying to do too much of it at once. It also creates a lot of anxiety and guilt that I just can't get over and it ends up contributing to that burnout even more. It's not something I like to admit, it's very unprofessional of me. But after four years of this I think its' something I just have to come to terms with. That's why I've decided it might be best if I simply forge forward with new comms and ideas and discuss some refunds with some of the people I've owed work to for a few months or more.
So here's the plan I was thinking over: I'll be discussing some refunds with a few people I've owed work to. Those of you whom I've owed for a while now can note me if you were interested in discussing it or I'll be noting some myself if they don't end up reading this journal. If they'd like to still proceed with the work I will not object, this is something I don't want to force onto anyone. But if they are okay with it I'll be adding them to a refund queue and giving them a return for their investment as soon as I can. As an apology, I'll be giving those people a colored sketch of whatever they'd like just so they can at least get something for the wait they've had to sit through. This also would not take the idea that was refunded off the table, I simply think it might be best to let the stagnation of it sitting in the queue for so long subside so that we can come back to it with refreshed interest if they still want to commission the idea in the future.
As I've said, I don't want to get too ambitious again, I want to give what I've owed and clear my plate. Maybe then I can start doing some new things like regular comic work and going to cons. Until then, I just wanted to say I'm sorry to those I've been so unprofessional to and that I hope I can make up for it by getting myself in order and being the professional I ought to be by now.

Streaming: idea corner sketches
Posted 8 years agoHey dudes, I've decided to do an "idea corner" stream where I take ideas and characters to do on the fly since I'm in a weird idea mood again. These are on a case-by-case basis and they are technically free, just throw whatever idea you had in mind in the simplest way possible and it might get done. Though these are technically free you're free to pitch in a donation through paypal if you'd like. You can catch the stream over here:

Taking some ideas
Posted 8 years agoWork's gone well today, I deserve a small break tonight, right? Throw me some ideas and maybe I'll sketch a few tonight (Just don't forget there's no guarantees they'll be done. Just in the mood for throwing around ideas)

JWP requires doll testers
Posted 8 years agoSo I was working with a commissioner by the name of
jwp to make a doll sequence that I've currently sketched out here: https://twitter.com/ShinyHelix/stat.....62807826309121
They were musing over having someone to collaborate on using the doll after they've taken them home and wanted me to throw out a journal for anyone who might be interested so feel free to note them :3

Moving back with the folks + recent scuffles
Posted 8 years agoHeyo,
So a few things have been going on lately but I wanted to start with the most pressing one first: a few days ago I got an email from my landlord saying they plan on selling the house we rent from in November. Given that this is Vancouver- one of the most expensive places to live in Canada- and the fact that this place was a steal as it is, I think the only real course of action is to move back in with my folks for the time being instead of raising expenses more. At least not while my backlog is as flooded as it is. Now this is less distressing and more depressing. I spent a lot, went through a lot of stress and got racked with pretty severe homesickness getting here. However, this isn't any kind of desperate announcement. I'll only have to pay for a flight back to Ontario instead of having to make it a round trip and I'll have a big financial burden off my back. So despite the disappointment I will have some time to reevaluate myself, save some money, get my backlog cleared and so on and so forth. I originally thought I'd have the time and energy to do that after I moved out but I suppose that's rent and hindsight for you.
That said, paying for the flight isn't too much of an issue anymore since I already have a little more than it costs for a flight there saved up. I'll just have to pay for rent and food and all that until I go back to my folks in August.
OKAY, sooo the other thing. It may have come to some people's attention that there was a recent scuffle over one of my more recent posts. I just wanted to make it clear that everything has been resolved and that there's no more bad blood between anybody. I can't and won't name anybody specific but those of you who've seen will know what I'm talking about and those of you who haven't can rest assured that what happened has been resolved now.

Saving for family trip, Mew asks, backlog progress
Posted 8 years agoHey guys,
So I've been trying to avoid it recently but after getting a small contribution from my mother I can't really not think about it anymore. I'm talking about visiting the family for the summer and it's something I'm going to need extra funding to do since I need to pay for a flight. As a result I'll be doing a few more days of same day comms to pay for it and then I'll be getting back to doing backlog work for the foreseeable future. So if you're interested you can drop me a note and we can discuss some ideas. Also, if you're one of the very patient people in my backlog you can also drop me a note and we can work out a progress schedule for when I do get back to backlog work.
That aside, I wanted to try taking some asks for Mew. OF COURSE I am aware that Mew isn't a very fleshed out character yet but I think taking some asks for her might help me to do just that. So whatever might me on your minds I'll try to answer what I can to the best of my ability. Just keep in mind that I might not be able to answer all of them depending on how many I get.
Anyways, that's about everything I can think of. I hope everyone is having a smooth summer :3

Rent time: taking comms for this week
Posted 8 years agoHey guys,
It's that time again. I'll be taking new comms over the course of about a week or so in order to afford rent and then I'll be getting back on track with backlog work. I won't be doing same day comms the same way I did before though. Instead I'll just put those who are interested on a list and then hit them up when I'm ready to do what they requested. Just be sure to note me with what you would like and what times you'll be available over the next week or so. Also keep in mind that there's a one to two character maximum for these. Same as before, these will be in detailed shades for $70 per character.

Frump's doin' commissions!
Posted 8 years agoHey dudes,
So my good friend and fellow shiny/ weird shit enthusiast went and opened commissions: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/23354638/
They do a lot of TFy and inanimate stuff but they have experience doing more normal shiny things if anybody's interested. She's got a super fun style and could use the income :3

Rent's made, things going forward
Posted 8 years agoHey guys,
So I've managed to make rent for this month and I can't thank everyone enough. Though I'll still be taking another quick comm or two just to cover food for the next little while if anybody's still interested.
That said, I think this past week or so has brought something to my attention. That being that I've worked far more diligently and efficiently than I have in months. This is due to two things: I've been pacing myself more, and I've made promises to commissioners to make certain milestones within a day instead of over a week or a month. I feel this is something I can do outside of just same day comms and I think I'll be putting it to practice some more going forward. So I'll be making an effort to let a commissioner know when I'll be working on something for them and then set a goal to reach for that day or certain milestones over the next couple of days.
Once again, I want to thank everyone for putting up with my messy work ethic and scheduling skills and I hope to improve them just a bit more using what I've learned this week.

Same day comm closed for today: Still taking submissions
Posted 8 years agoooookay, so the slot is closed for the day but I decided I'd still leave submissions open for anybody who wants in some time this week since I'll be doing these on a daily basis. I'll also be posting a proper submission that's easier to see every day for those who miss it as well. So yes feel free to note me if you would like a shot at one of the same day comms over the course of the next week.
Rent's coming up: Same day comm slot open
Posted 8 years agoHey guys, so motivation hasn't been great over the past week and a half now. I found out my uncle came down with cancer and it finally got me to go see somebody about anxiety. I got all the advice I expected: eat better, get out more, think happy thoughts. I got a referral to a psychiatrist but the general result of the visit was that I should probably take better care of myself. Anyway, I should be back on track for doing consistent work and, once again, if I owe you work and you wanted any ETA's feel free to note me.
Anyway, rent's gonna be due in a little over a week and I've got a lot of ground to cover so I'll be doing one or two same day comms roughly every day from now until the end of the month. The rules are simple: if you're interested you need to be free to answer notes or PMs in a relatively timely manner to get updates from me through the course of the day. I'll be giving this a little over an hour for people to put their requests for the spot in and then I'll be choosing who gets the spot at random. That way it doesn't have to be entirely first come first serve. It'll also be $70 for a detailed pic since, as said, I need to make rent relatively soon. There's no restrictions to subject matter (beyond my usual do's and don'ts) but I've been in a bit of a rubbery nun mood as of late if you wanted to do anything with that. If I still have the time or energy to do another pic after the first one I'll be repeating the process of putting up a journal for it and picking the person who gets the spot at random. Though it'll likely be in a shorter span of time just to keep motivation going.
Oh and I ask that we try to keep it simple for these. Anything too elaborate in detail will likely take longer than I have time to do within the span of a day. But that being said, feel free to note me if you'd like the spot along with what you'd like and I'll let you know in about an hour if you got the spot. take care, dudes.
