Might be leaving for a bit
Posted 13 years agoHey guys,
I've noticed my Hellkitty production has tapered off as of late and I didn't want to leave you hanging. As I've mentioned here and there, this account is a project to keep myself artistically occupied while dealing with a block. I've been doing a bit more of my normal art and have taken to ballpoint sketching in class instead of pencil drawing. Thus less activity on this account.
I'm not sure if this trend is going to continue or if I'm going to return soon, since I'm facing the same issues I was when I decided to start the Hellkitty project. But if I do vanish, you'll know why. And even so, I might magically pop back up without warning in the future.
The Hellkitty comic might still be on even if the normal work comes to a halt, though, since it's sort of a different project in and of itself. But even if I started on that today and worked on it pretty solidly, it would still be quite a while before I could post anything, so if it happens then consider it a pleasant surprise. lol
You're all of course welcome to go say hi to me on my main account, though the style is so different I don't know if you'll be interested. And please don't be shy; I've always been lonely on that account (I have notably more friends over here). Though I can't promise I'll be active there either. ^^; Anyway, here's the link:
Keimera
I hope to see you guys around, one way or another. Till then, toodles~!
(PS: I think Kitty has become my official fursona regardless of what happens next. My old ones have needed to be replaced for quite some time because they were always more mood-embodiments than fursonas anyway,)

Working on a fursuit
Posted 13 years agoHey guys.
Sorry I haven't been uploading as much lately. I've been spending my free time on a few other projects, the latest of which is a Hellkitty mask. If I manage to finish it I'll post some pics.
Aside from that, my schedule ought to be less busy soon. I've been hanging out a great deal with a friend who was here for the summer, but he's headed back to school so I'll be spending quite a bit more time at home. This ought to translate into more art being finished, though I can't say for certain (especially with homework being a bit unpredictable).
Anyhow, wish me luck on the mask. I'm notorious for being so perfectionistic that I can't finish the damn things, but I've worked out enough tricks in my past attempts that this one might actually go smoothly. lol

Really. Trippy. Dream. o.O
Posted 13 years agoYou know how you'll have a bad dream, but it won't be a nightmare? Like there's no fright involved; it's just unpleasant? This morning I woke up from what was by far the worst fucking dream of my life, but now that I'm out of it I think it's interesting.
A bit of back-story regarding me and dreams: I've always had rather long, detailed dreams, and in a lot of them I'm half-lucid and/or I have senses other than sight/hearing (ie: taste, smell, and loads of tactile senses such as pain, texture, temperature, pressure, etc). Those other senses have been a lot more common the past month or two, whereas they used to be very rare.
Anyhow, this was one of those dreams where you wake up from a dream, but you're still dreaming. I have these on occasion, but usually they don't happen more than a time or two or three. This one lasted a good two-dozen or so, no exaggeration. By the time the first half of them had gone by I was so fucking desperate to wake up that I didn't even give a fuck what the dream was. It's not even that the dreams themselves were bad; I just wanted out. "Hey, guess what? We're throwing a birthday party! There's going to be cake and stuff!" "I DON'T GIVE A FIDDLER'S FLYING FUCK ABOUT YOUR MOTHERFUCKING CAKE. I'M TRYING TO WAKE UP." (That example was indeed one of the dreams, btw. lol). Some of them were obvious from the get-go and others took a little while before I remembered what I was doing, and sometimes I "woke up" right away and others I had to struggle for a bit in the dream.
The worst were the last two. Plenty of the dreams started with me waking up in my real bed, but those two tricked me. In the first one I "woke" and thought to myself, Fuck that shit. I'm getting out of bed so I don't fall back asleep. So I got up and soon noticed an inconsistency (namely, I wasn't wearing the same thing I had gone to sleep in). The last was probably the most disturbing. I woke, laid there for a moment looking around to make sure everything was how it should be, and noticed something that I've never had in a dream. You know when something is close to your face and you're looking past it, and because your eyes have different views of it you see a second one that's see-through? Yeah, I had that. So I took a few deep breaths (another detail I don't think I've ever had in a dream) and thought to myself, Finally. I'm back in reality.. So I got up like last time and went into the bathroom. After a moment I paused and was like, Let's just be 100% sure before I use the toilet, so I went to the sink, turned it on, put my hands under the cold running water, and then remembered that in the dreams I couldn't move my mouth (probably because my face was pressed to the pillow or such). So I tried and FUCKING HELL.
So then I FINALLY woke up for real. Clocks make senses again, text isn't gibberish, and (most importantly) I can move my mouth freely. Oh, and let me save you the joke: "Actually, you're still dreaming. LOLOLOLOL." Haha. So creative. I'm going to go have breakfast now. Goodbye and good-riddance to that fucking dream. For the first few minutes after waking up I was actually notably disoriented.
PS: No, I was not on drugs last night. My brain is just fucked up. lol

Anyone else getting the FA glitch where text vanishes?
Posted 13 years agoFor a while I've been dealing with a bug that sometimes makes text disappear when I try to edit stuff. (Which sounds kind of adorable if you imagine an actual bug eating your text or something. lol). It'll happen on drawing descriptions, journals, keywords, etc. Normally I'm careful about not clicking "update" when it occurs, but it just happened on my profile info and I didn't double-check before saving, so I had to rewrite it. I ended up adding some stuff I've been thinking about, though, so I suppose it worked out. I've also saved a copy in Word. Take that, bug! >:3
Anyhow, it seems to happen when the page finishes loading. So a page will pop up, the text will be there while it's loading, and then the instant it's done loading the text goes away. Since FA takes a while to load on my computer, I can often click it, ctrl+a, and copy it before it vanishes so that if/when it does I can just paste it back in. Sometimes I'm not quick enough, though, and I have to go back and reopen the page without saving so that I can try catching it again.
On the other hand, if the page takes a while to load, it might be long enough for me to scroll past the part that disappears and not notice that it goes away. Little text boxes (such as the Artist Information ones on "Edit Profile") don't seem to do it, so if I'm editing one of those and not paying attention to the main text I might not see it vanish and end up losing it.
I submitted a problem report just now, so hopefully they'll be able to tell me how to stop it (or at least know it's a problem they might want to fix).

School will be starting soon
Posted 13 years agoI've got a little more than a week before fall semester begins. I don't know how/if this will affect my level of art production. Classes are just as likely to increase how much I draw as they are to decrease it. I suspect nothing will change, at least for a little while, but I could be totally wrong. We'll hope and see.
Character Quiz Meme: Hellkitty
Posted 13 years agoHere's a little info quiz for Hellkitty. I've felt like detailing her a bit more lately (along with the Hell in her universe) so I decided to give this a shot.
1. What is your character's name?
Hellkitty, or just Kitty.
2. What is your character's name in another language?
Höllekatze, I guess? I'm not sure what this question is asking. Maybe it's more like, "What's the original meaning of your character's name in the language it originated from?" But that's moot because English is the language of origin. lol
3. How old is he/she?
Her mortal life was in the modern world, so she's probably been dead a few decades. Let's call it 30ish years. That's about 130ish years in cat.
4. What is your character's race/species?
Originally she was a typical bombay kitten, but died at the age of 3 weeks due to an unfortunate illness. Unbeknownst to anyone, the ailment had been caused by a bored hellcat who wanted a litter of her own. Upon death she was thieved away to this surrogate mother's nest and tenderly raised by the beast. Still quite impressionable, she took to the nature of her new home readily and thus became a hellcat herself. [btw, I just made all of that up on the spot based on the fact that she died as a kitten. lol]
5. Do they have a crush?
No. Questions 13 and 16 will explain why.
6. Do they have many friends?
Boat loads. There's often a fair amount of camaraderie between the hellbeasts (hellcats, hellhounds, hellskunks, etc). Unlike damned humans who take up employment in the inferno, the beasts generally don't fall into the loop of making each other miserable. This relieves much of the social tension and makes for a laid-back environment where fellow creatures readily tip their hats to each others, so to say.
8. Does your character like to eat?
Like many cats, the answer is both yes and no. They enjoy a good meal, but can be quite finicky.
9. What's his/her favorite food?
The souls of baptized infants, of course. It's a delicacy fit for a king. Day-to-day, though, hearts are a first-choice. One need simply walk up to any damned human and pluck it out.
10. What's his/her favorite drink?
Chocolate milkshakes are by far the best. X3
...what? Were you expecting "virgin blood" or something? Foolish mortals. That's more of a sauce than a drink. When was the last time you had a glass of something salty?
11. Is your character annoying?
Most wouldn't say so. She's more one for charm.
13. Is your character loved?
"Love" is kind of an odd word in (this version of) Hell. Romantically speaking, it's pretty much absent, just by the design of the spiritual forms that reside there. Keeping things as such keeps the damned miserable and the residence from getting distracted. Sure, love can lead to misery and sin, but ultimately there are better ways to ensure that those goals are met.
14. Is your character hated?
Of course, but mainly just by those she tortures.
15. Is he/she emo/goth?
I guess she could be called goth considering what she wears, but that's sort of standard for her people. And emo? Fuck no. lol. She's actually quite talented at being positive and enjoying herself. Sin is about indulgence, and if implemented correctly it can lead to quite a fulfilling existence. Such a situation is virtually impossible on Earth, but given the unique environment of Hell demons have a lot of possibilities open to them.
16. Is he/she straight, bisexual, or gay?
She's spayed, so none of the above. This condition is the result of a cruel joke played by a few devils when she was fairly young. Let's just say she made sure they got what's coming. Or not coming, as the case may be. ;)
17. Is he/she a virgin?
Despite what Question 16 might suggest, no.
18. Name 3 hobbies:
Disembowelment, dismemberment, and playing with yarn. No, really, she does that. It drives the local seamstresses crazy.
19. Is your character normal?
Depends on your reference point. For a demonic beast, yes, but she tends to be a lot less stuffy than cats sometimes are on Earth.
20. Is your character attractive?
She's about average for her species / a cat. She's neither the kind of demon that's supposed to be grotesque nor the kind that uses good looks to their advantage.
21. How does your character handle emotions?
She's a pretty mellow critter and doesn't really get worked up. It's hard to get on her bad side, but if you do she doesn't spend time brooding over it. She just gets back at you and moves on.
22. Does your character have other forms?
Her two forms are her demonic form and her mortal form/disguise. The former can vary a bit, though, mainly in the size/build of her wings. The biggest difference is that sometimes the main membrane only attaches at the armpit of the wing whereas other times the webbing is properly connected along the back/sides. And sometimes she lacks wings altogether.
23. Does your character overreact?
Naw, she's cool-headed. She is known to get revenge at times, though, and when she does she makes a point of wronging the other person more than they wronged her. It makes people think twice before messing with her.
24. Is your character a criminal?
That's for you to decide. On one hand she lives in the bowels of Hell torturing people for eternity. On the other hand she's giving criminals their just desserts.
25. Does your character go to school?
Don't be silly. She's a cat.
26. What's his/her IQ?
She has an intellect equivalent to a human's and is known for planning things out carefully, so I'd say she's a bit more intelligent than your average Joe even though she's not the smartest being around.
27. Does your character have a disease/curse?
She certainly wouldn't say so.
28. Is your character dead?
Duh. lol
29. Does your character have a family?
About as much as any feral cat has a family.
30. Has he/she encountered any tragic times in life?
Honestly, no. She was too young to remember her mortal life, and it's never been something that bothered her.
31. What's the best time in your character's life?
There hasn't really been any change in her life since she was old enough to fend for herself. So here and now, I suppose.
32. If you could name one friend, which would you relate to your character?
No idea. lol
33. Is your character single?
She doesn't have a mate or living partner of any sort.
34. Has he/she developed any relationships?
Not romantic ones. She's got a few particularly good friends, though.
35. Does he/she have an element?
Ununquadium. Because earth/air/fire/water is boring. lol
36. Do you role-play your character?
I haven't. I'm not much of a role-player.
37. Do you write about your character?
Not in stories.
38. Does your character have a bad temper at times?
No. When she does get revenge on someone it's almost more of a business matter to her than an emotional one.
39. Does your character get depressed?
Not in the slightest. It's just not in her nature.
40. What's your character’s favorite animal?
She doesn't really have one, but if she had to pick she'd say humans because they're the source of most of her fun.
41. Does your character have any fears?
Not really.
42. Does your character have any weaknesses?
Naw.
43. Does your character look up to anyone?
Heroes aren't really much of a thing in Hell.
44. Does your character like music?
She can appreciate it, but doesn't really listen to it on her own.
45. What's your character's favorite type of music?
Hard rock, mainly.
46. Is he/she impatient?
As you can probably guess by now, no. lol
47. What's something funny about your character?
She can be subdued by head-scritches. X3
48. Name 5 nicknames:
She doesn't really have any aside from Kitty.
49. Does your character curse?
Yes, but not often. If you throw it around it loses its meaning.
50. This test is over, what does your character have to say?
"Congratulations. You now know me better than my creator did when she started this meme."
1. What is your character's name?
Hellkitty, or just Kitty.
2. What is your character's name in another language?

I might be streaming, so here are some questions
Posted 13 years agoI've been thinking about doing some art streams lately (specifically of my digital coloring process). Would you guys want me to post a journal a little while in advanced saying, "I'll be streaming at XYZ o'clock today" as well as the normal "I'm streaming" notification in my gallery when I start? I thought people might like a heads-up so that they know to be online and can thus watch the whole thing instead of logging on half way through.
Let me know here if you're interested in a pre-stream journal, otherwise I might not bother and just stream whenever the fancy hits me.
And as a side-note: I would probably be doing these in the afternoon/evening on both weekends and weekdays, but if you're interested in watching and there's a specific time that tends to work for you let me know and I'll try to stream then.

I'm back from my trip
Posted 13 years agoI'm back. The trip went well. I got a sunburn despite all my efforts against it. lol
I ended up not drawing any lineart like I had been hoping, but once I get settled back in I'll continue the 100 Themes.

I'm going on a trip, so I'll be inactive for a short while
Posted 13 years agoHi guys,
I'll probably be somewhat inactive for the next two weeks. Next weekend I'm heading out on a trip, and in the mean time I have to finish a bunch of classwork because I can't put it off till I get home. With any luck, though, I'll be able to get some lineart drawn up while I'm away so that I'll have things to color upon my return. There ought to be time for it, and I plan on printing out the 100 Themes list so I can keep working on that.
Till then,
~Kitty

Posted 13 years agoI like the rain as long as I don't have to be out and about in it, and today I'm staying home. So yay. X3
