It's always been a dream of mine to have my thoughts about the Furry Fandom printed by someone else. It not only validates what I say about Furry, but also spreads it.

Adjective Species published my piece. I wrote on what it means to be a Furry, and why this Fandom matters so much to us. I'm really excited to see it up and can't wait to read more!

Where is the warm and loving wealth of this Fandom? Because I don't feel it anymore....

I can't remember the last time I felt that the kindness and goodness that I felt in my early days as a Furry. I can't remember the last time I actually saw a Furry exhibit the iconic Furry open kindness and friendliness I remember feeling when I first joined. More than anything I feel abandoned by my friends and my family, the only one bothering to come around and see me regularly gives me the feeling he only does so because I'm fun to make fun of, and in his words "are too easy." I've been chided for being too gay, chided for being too sexual, scorned for acting on passions that a few years ago would not have been scorned. All by friends who are Furries. That boundless self discovery seems to have gone away. I feel so sad and lonely and abandoned by my own Fandom, the Fandom that I promised my life too. I'm beginning to loose my drive to fight for that Furry Dream. I wish I could find that passion again that I had when I first felt the magic of knowing I was not alone anymore. Now I've been left alone again.

I want to go to BLFC but I can't afford a room myself, and do Califur. I'm hoping someone has some room in their room. I don't drink, smoke, or get rowdy, but don't care if you do. I've got a good room record. I've really been wanting to go to this con! Anyone got room in their room? I can definitely pay a share.

Every Furcon is a life changing experience for me. I always come to some revelation or learn something massive about myself and the world. I really came out of my shell this Further Confusion, and I learned that I am somewhat... Attractive? I did some things I probably shouldn't have done, but I am proud that I had the courage to do them. I think this FC I learned that I should stop basing my decisions based on what I should or shouldn't do, but rather what I want or don't want to do. I am constantly confused and upset because I never ask myself if I -want- to do something and then do it, but rather because I ask if I -should- do something and mill around kicking that idea around for a while while life passes be by and I get almost nowhere. When I sleep with that boy, when I want to go to college, when I buy that art commission I will now ask myself "Do I want to" until the question becomes second nature.

I've always been a good writer. I used to make money at it under another screen name, but I stopped doing it cause..well I guess cause I wasn't ready. Its a funny thing, not ready to write. I think a lot of it had to do with being an English major. The works we read were so superior, and we were always tasked with "determining the correct meaning." which seemed counter intuitive to the point of the works existence. Also, I looked at the other students: the hipster wannabe starving artists who were more interested in being a writer than they were about writing.. and I asked myself "Do I really want to be like them?" And so I lost the drive. Well now I have no one questioning me, and I'm not trying to find the "right answer" to anything, and I am free to read what I want since I gave the major up one class from completing it.

I always had this saying I repeated to myself: "When all is lost, write." and so now that my family has fallen apart, my life has come crashing down, and on some days not even the Fandom can cheer me up or push me on anymore I have decided to listen to myself.

What I have up right now is not much. Hardly three paragraphs, and I give no promises of any big bazang coming soon, but its something. It feels good to have done -something-.

I have never met a Brony I didn't like. They exemplify all the best parts of this Fandom. They are so similar; a great ally.

So I've seen Hemms in suit in a few videos now and...well...I'm really rather boring. I need advice on what to do to make myself less of a manikin wearing a fox suit and more of a fursuiter.  thatkrazyk9  simboku are great suiters, and I admire them greatly.... but I just am not the kind of "run around arms flailing chasing stuff till I fall down" fursuiter. There are plenty of suiters already like that, though I think those two are two of the best. So, how can Hemms be interesting and fun to watch and interact with without being a total spaz?

I guess a good place for me to start would be "Who would I be if I were perfectly at peace?"

I have found the missing piece to The Fandom. I have found the missing piece to my Fursona, and why he was never real. I understand now what Fursonas really are, and what they really mean, because I never really met Hemms until I drew him.

There was a moment in practice where I was drawing based off of on of the drawings at  thefurryartacademy and when finished the figure staring back at me, who's eyes were looking at me, and who's face was mine as a fox...was me.

I linked the disconnect between me and my Fursona, and now I understand everyone else's.

A Fursona is not a tool for communication. It is you. It is the you that looks back from the paper. It is personal. This Fandom just got a lot more personal. I see how deep a connection with a Fursona one may have and how it makes ALL of those social barriers come crashing down. It wipes away preconditioned prejudices in the eyes of people looking at it and supplants them with just the true you as manifests in your emotion by your pen. I knew this before but I understand HOW!

I look forward to really meeting you, Hemms. I look forward to unlocking myself.

I dont understand how Furries -do stuff-. People I know sit around on FA all day and fave all these things, go on videochat, and watch movies with the youtube sync thing, get notes, hang out... I don't get what I am doing wrong and why that doesn't happen to me. People complain about the fact that I don't use FA much. I am on here EVERY DAY for hours but I don't understand how I don't get invited to the stuff other people do, like the aforementioned. This isn't a "I don't get comments and watchers nyeeehhh!" whine post. This is a "People do this stuff on FA or RL and I don't have any idea its going on" whine post. Next time someone does a fursuit video chat, or watches a thing with a youtube sync can I be invited please? I've been in this Fandom 3 years and I feel like I have 4 or 5 friends who do stuff with me when its convenient. One doesn't even watch me on FA anymore. I don't even know the artists people talk about anymore. Where the hell do you guys find the time to do this stuff when you are busier than me, but I sometimes have completely free days and spend them sitting around doing nothing?

Given the rate of Furry expansion around the globe, I notice that Furries, though we will always be linked to one another in spirit, lack a true connection that spans oceans. Our communication has failed to keep up with the spread of our culture, and for that, I feel the creation or adoption of a Furry language is pertinent. Should a Furry in Mexico City be communicating with a Furry in Vietnam, and neither speak the other language, both could switch to the Furry language and communicate quite well.

This journal is written in Saurian. It is a Crypto-language. This means that it is just a reordering of letter characters into a different order that still has phonetics. I think that a language such as this would be perfect as an adopted Furry language, and here is why. There would be no need to construct a new phonetics system from scratch, or compile different languages into one like Esperanto. Instead, it reorders a Romantic character language into a different order. This means you do not need to translate it heavily. Any language that uses a Romantic character system, i.e. A,B,C,D,E... merely has to be re-ordered into the order of the speaker or listener's language. Spanish and Vietnamese writing both uses a Romantic character system. This means that it is theoretically possible to use Saurian to code for both. It would not work for direct translation, sadly. A message sent in Saurian from Spanish, when de-coded by the Vietnamese Furry, would code for Spanish words. It ads a layer of complexity, because a different coding system would have to be made for each Romantic language system that Saurian could code for, and to get it match up would require some odd misspellings of words through translation. Already Saurian has trouble with y and in Saurian for English M=M. But it is a good start to solving this potential impending problem of a Furry language barrier: a barrier that would create a Vietnamese Furry Fandom, A Spanish Furry Fandom, a German Furry Fandom in stead of one monolithic Furry Fandom.

Eventually the coding would get cumbersome, I admit, but then the idea is that the Fandom would leave the coding system behind, having learned what common things are in Saurian. A phonetics system would surely develop, and it would be a giant first step to a language reform within the Furry Fandom, and a bolster to our Cultural Identity.

We are out there, fighting for the New Fur Order.

It is going to be my 21st birthday soon. On the 26th. I don't drink, and I don't want to start, but regardless one's 21st birthday is a culturally important one. My family has pretty much decided that I am going to dinner with them. My father has also bought tickets to a showing of riff trax. So I believe. But here is the thing... I don't really want to spend my 21st birthday with my family. I don't want my most special birthday that only comes once in my life with my parents and my grandparents guilting me, then guilting each-other, then fighting each other. I don't want to listen to ways I should be making money, and I certainly don't want to be pressured about school when i am questioning the validity of my continuation there. any other birthday, fine. but i have been through too many birthdays where i got the message loud and clear that i was inadequate and unimportant, and where I was alone with little or no celebration. Since moving out and finding a wonder in life, a purpose in working and living, and a worth for my existence I don't want to waste the most important birthday. Frankly I want to spend this birthday with you guys. This fandom has always been my family ever since it took me into its arms. I want to have the best birthday ever with people like Alex Nobles, Yoshi Yosuke and other furries who have made my life worth living. There is a furmeet at the park in LA. Plans were all made for me already. Maybe I should just go to the furmeet, or please, if anyone has any better ideas tell me! I don't want another wasted birthday alone.

I am thinking I really want to go to the LA:Furmet for my birthday. Be with my people. It would make me the happiest to be hugged and loved and made, well, worthy of having a good birthday for once. You know, I can't tell you how many times I woke up on a birthday and knew there was little waiting for me. I had lots of birthdays that were dull. I cried on a lot of them. They way I look at it is that... Well, maybe my family doesn't deserve to see me on my birthday, at least not on the day of. No, I think I deserve to spend my most important birthday with the family that has actually been there, and has given me the morals and lessons and will I have today.

It is hard to believe it is only the first day. It feels like enough happene today to fill three cons. It is unmistakably the most well organized Furcon I have ever ever even too. The help and service table is right smack dab in the middle of the con, and there is always someone on staff who can help.

The best part is the programming.... Or actually lack of. There is just enough programming that it is all worth going too, leaving plenty of time to talk and lounge.... And flirt. I felt more community here than any other con, and I do not feel rushed to say "hi,bye!" So I can meet everyone.

Never have I had a more progressive or educational car ride.  metranisome gave me a missing piece to my equation of Furry. He gave me the idea of discourse in this Fandom, and its importance to its future. A part of me has always know this was important, but Wesley made me realize just HOW important it could be to the future of this Fandom. Though I naturally do this in my free time, I think I will make a concerted effort to start this discourse in writing, and finally utilize this FA.

My life has been great! I have a little room, with a shower and my own bathroom, a rock hard bed, boring white walls, and I am happier than I have ever been. I am living in a city that I love, near people who I want to make my life with, and am making my way with only minimal help from family. I am removed from the other voices of the world and I can finally hear my own. I am making progress, and meeting goals. I am so happy. I want others to be happy with. I want to meet and hang out with Furs who I have moved closer too. I want to finally be able to fully step into the Furry Lifestyle.

I am now 206 pounds!

When I started my diet in March I was 260 Pounds.

The best part about it is the ability to breathe.

I am not doing this because I want to be in the raffle. I am doing this because I support their efforts, and they show amazing promise!

I am not one to take sides. In fact I pride myself for having gone 6 years in this Fandom fairly unscathed by the drama which so easily ricochets between us. I don't know the truth behind any rumors, or who did what, if anything, nor do I hold anyone responsible. But I will say this as common sense, and true not just for our current situation, but for all of us out there.

We Furries deserve conventions that are responsive to our wishes. We deserve a convention that understands its place as a pillar of the community, and that means that the convention should exist not just for the purpose of three days out of the year, but for 365 days out of the year. Those who are the directors of the convention are the de facto leaders of the community. The convention should be a shining example of what the local Furry populace not only is, but is capable of, and therefore the leaders should be as well. So let me ask this! Who are we who are incapable of choosing those leaders ourselves? If the convention is the pillar of the community shouldn't that community's will be reflected by the actions of the convention?

A Convention and it's staff should be more than just the organizers for a three day party, and the convention should be more than just a party itself. The responsibilities of the convention staff should extend beyond the convention's dates into the ongoing promotion, protection, and elevation of the base local Furry community it serves. Those who staff our conventions should start to think of themselves as civil servants, and those who attend should start thinking of themselves as rightfully worthy of empowerment. If a Convention currently fails to meet these standards, and reign over instead of lift up, then it should be altered or abolished.
