Bear-handed Brawl
Posted 11 years agoSo it seems that Bron has gotten himself involved in a little combat tournament. Though his intimidating stature is usually enough to keep Cleo safe, he does want to keep his fighting chops up. Turns out he's in for a tough fight against a very fast opponent his first round. A little support, though, is all he needs to overpower this speedster. Drop by and cast your vote for who you want to win round one: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14474389/
The New Face of Communication
Posted 11 years agoWell, Facerig is officially on my Steam wishlist. I'd go ahead and buy it now but my PC doesn't have a camera and the deal lasts until December, so I've got plenty of time.
Still, if anyone wants to pick it up for me, I'll write a story for you or color a couple pics. Let me know your Steam ID if you're interested and I'll add you.

TMI Thursday
Posted 11 years agoI don't do these often, but since I've gotten a few new watchers recently, I thought I'd give people the chance to ask some things. Just post a question and I'll try to answer as thoroughly as I can, but remember, nothing will be answered that involves personally identifiable data.
Hentairo's Movie Review
Posted 11 years agoWell, I finally got around to seeing the new Ninja Turtles movie today and for some reason I feel obligated to put my thoughts down in a public forum.
First the good. The movie was fairly well paced, without a lot of places where you're thinking 'let's get on with it.' There was plenty of action and it was mostly remarkably well done. The movie had a few great shout-outs to old school TMNT (let's just say 'turbo ginsu' and leave it at that). The special effects were also really well done. People may knock the Turtle's new design, but it's executed remarkably well. The 3D, though not always apparent, is used particularly well in a few places (I especially like this one trick where when the Shredder was speaking in Japanese, he would be in the fore/background, the person he's talking to would be opposite, and the subtitles would be between the two plains).
Unfortunately, that's where the good ends. The writing, aside from the dialog, is pretty poor. Plot holes and inconsistencies abound and character development is practically nil. With most of the characters you have to rely on previous knowledge of the franchise in order to understand them because they are not given opportunities to really express their character. Raph and Mikey are the only Turtles that really have personality in this film and the other turtles are just shadows of themselves. Only two human characters seem to have had any real thought put into them: Eric Sachs and Vernon Fenwick. Everyone else is left pretty much alone. Even April, who is supposedly the most important human character in the movie, is given almost no chance to show any deeper level of character.
Addressing the matter of Eric Sachs: he was a fine character on his own, but he suffered greatly from being billed as this movie's Shredder. Here, Shredder was a completely separate character, and one given so little development and personality that he's almost relegated to hired muscle rather than being the evil mastermind. Sachs could have done very well either as the shredder or as a secondary character (he could even have been Baxter Stockman), but as the movie goes, he just ends up stealing the limelight from the character who SHOULD have been the primary protagonist. As for Vernon, I like that they tried to make him less of a douche-bag than his 80's incarnation, but not at the cost of making him a more significant character than people who had 4 times the screen time or more.
And Megan Fox? People say this role proves she can't act, but the writing didn't give her any real chances to. Her most intense acting moments were given over to her trying to convince people that there were four giant turtles turning back a crime wave 'single-handedly.'
It seems to me like what's happened here is that someone gave the producers the skeleton of an okay plot and the skin of a famous IP, then the just dumped the guts and muscle of a decent movie into the skin from the sluice of a cement mixer. This movie could have been decent if any effort had been put in to constructing a well organized story and putting some real depth into the characters, but as it is it's nothing more than a great action sequence wrapped up in a moldy skin of plot. As much of a chance as I wanted to give this movie, I have to say that it rivals The Next Mutation as the worst piece of dreck ever stamped with the TMNT logo. If you insist on seeing it, wait until some TV station broadcasts it.

The One Thing That Annoys Me About Steam
Posted 11 years agoI've got about half a dozen games that Steam has versions of, but I can't download them from Steam because I originally bought the retail versions! If I want the Steam versions (and the automatic updates and DLC that go with them), I need to buy the games AGAIN!
Going on a Troll Hunt.

Posted 11 years agoIf latex fashion became mainstream (i.e.- people could walk down the street wearing a full latex outfit and people wouldn't think twice about it), would it stop being so sexy?
A thought...
Posted 11 years agoJust putting this idea out for discussion.
The only difference between a Victorian era Lady and traditional Japanese geisha is that the Lady is expected to manage the serving staff.

More Hypotheticals!!!
Posted 11 years agoYou pick up the phone and a voice on the other end says "I will brew you a sexual potion. Tell me what you want it to do and I will make it so. I will replace the potion whenever necessary." What do you say to them?
Can anyone recommend a hyper-realistic artist?
Posted 11 years agoI mean the kind that seems to paint every strand of hair and the weave of cloth and uses real anatomical references for animals. There's a famous anthro that I've found has no high-realism pieces and I may want to get it done some time.
Flip the Script
Posted 11 years agoOkay, here's how this thing is going to work. You have two options. First option: pick one of my characters: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4471684/ I'll tell you what they would be like if they were evil. Second option: pick one of your characters and tell me what they would be like if they were evil. If they're evil, tell me what they'd be like if they were good. If good and evil don't define them well, pick some dichotomy (dominant/submissive, outgoing/shy, friendly/aggressive, etc.) that does fit them and say what they'd be like the other way.
Just a quick reminder:
Posted 11 years agoI'm open for coloring and story commissions. Just click on my 'Commissions' tab for info.
I feel like a double-feature.
Posted 11 years agoAnyone interested in see back-to-back the 80's classic duology, Short Circuit 1 and 2? Let me know when you're available in the next few days and I'll see what we can do.
Random questions and CYOA idea
Posted 11 years agoOkay, first off, I had an idea for a Choose Your Own Adventure type story. Here's how it would work: I would write the beginning of a story and at the end I would give the readers a set of options to pick from for what the character does next. The most popular choice will be written for free with more options to follow. However, once a choice has passed, readers can have other options written by donating money to me and picking the option they'd like to see. In this way, the 'main' story remains free while people can explore other options for an inexpensive fee. Once certain donation thresholds are met, I will use the donation money to commission art of scenes that have taken place in the CYOA. What do you think of the idea?
Now, as for the random question, Which do you think is the better group of Super Heroes: the Mystery Men (all of them, not just the main ones in the movie) or the secondary heroes in The Tick (not counting American Maid, who is actually competent)?

To coin a phrase
Posted 11 years agoAnyone know the best way to introduce a new expression into general parlance? I want this phrase I came up with to see wider use.
The phrase is 'to pull a Playstation.' It refers to when two or more people or groups work together to develop a product or idea and then one party uses underhanded means to claim all that was produced cooperatively as their own.
The expression finds it's origins in the origin of the Playstation. For those of you who aren't familiar with video game history, the Playstation was originally a joint venture between Nintendo, who had had long experience developing gaming systems, and Sony, who had recently copyrighted compact disc technology. The idea was to use the greater storage capacity of optical discs to vastly improve the capabilities of home consoles. They worked together and developed the main core of the system, but then one of Nintendo's lawyers found a clause buried in the partnership contract that stated that Sony would become the sole owner of any IP that was released on their CDs. Needless to say, Nintendo immediately pulled out of the deal, but Sony retained the rights to all the hardware that was developed. A year later, they released that hardware as the Sony Playstation.

Okay, let's try to get back on track.
Posted 11 years agoThis week, I'm going to do my best to get back into RPing. If we've RP'd in the past and you want to give it another go, just comment here with the times you're going to be available for the next week or so and I'll make the time to 'meet' for some fun. Remember to either tell me your time zone or convert the time to Eastern time.
To those of you who've been waiting on me for a while (you know who you are), I'm SOOOOO SORRY, and I'll get back to you straight away.

Oldies Stream
Posted 11 years agoI'm thinking of doing a movie stream honoring 60's rock. I'm planning on showing Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Across the Universe, and Pirate Radio (AKA The Boat That Rocked). Would anyone be interested in watching and can anyone suggest similar movies available on Netflix?
Please disregard the previous journal.
Posted 11 years agoThat's Murphy's Law for you. No sooner do I state publicly that I have a job than management decides that I'm 'not what they're looking for.' Apparently some of the supervisors felt that I had an 'abrasive personality,' something they never saw fit to mention to me, and the manager terminated my employment as of 34 minutes ago.
Well, this means I won't be able to buy more art like I wanted, but hopefully I can keep up the writing motivation that had started to to root. Hopefully I'll have better luck finding a job now than I have in the last 4 years...

An update (GASP)
Posted 11 years agoI don't do these personal updates much, but I just thought I'd let you in on some good news.
I HAVE A JOB!!
It's not much, but as of about 2 weeks ago, I'm gainfully employed by Krogers. It's still taking a bit of getting used to (especially in the feet department), but I am now working fairly steadily. As I'm sure most of you who have gotten a job after a lengthy unemployment know, just having that small amount of extra stability makes a HUGE difference in your life!
Now, while on the down side it means I have to pour through a few hundred DA and FA posts when I get off, on the plus side the extra stability means I'm in a better position mentally and I'm getting back into my writing after too long! It also means that I'm going to start being able to BUY commissions now and then, so you can expect to see more from me around here!
Thanks for listening!

Tonight, you recieve a message...
Posted 11 years ago...that says that in the morning, your life is going to become the object of a (realistic) porno. Your old life will be over and your new one permanent, but you have the chance now to influence how it will happen if you respond to the message. Do you respond and if so, how?
Now, this is not your character this is happening to, it's YOU in REAL LIFE. Whatever porn thing happens is going to be your new life and you only have minutes to change it.

The More You Know...
Posted 11 years agoApparently the feminine equivalent of 'phallic' is 'yonic,' from the Sanskrit 'yoni.'
yoni (ˈjəʊnɪ)
n
1. (Hinduism) the female genitalia, regarded as a divine symbol of sexual pleasure and matrix of generation and the visible form of Sakti
2. (Hinduism) an image of these as an object of worship
