10 paces, turn, DRAW!
Posted 2 years agoYup. It's the end of the world as we know it. I am posting visual art created by myself now. For anyone who, for whatever reason, didn't believe me that I had no hand in drawing those beautiful pics by my lovely lost friend, allow me to dispel that doubt. THIS is the quality I am currently artistically capable of. So while my writing skill is on par with an eighth grader, my drawing skills would get laughed out of a fourth grade classroom.
But you know what? I'm trying. And I'm working on it. And no matter how bad this looks, trust me when I say it looks WAY better than what I was drawing back in January. I will do my best to post one drawing a month from now on. Some will have shorties attached, some will not. I just... I dunno. I've been so terrified of failure all my life. Now that I am on antidepressants, I want to embrace failure as a learning opportunity. Seems more productive.

A Shorty Experiment
Posted 3 years agoSome of my longtime fans may have noticed that my most recent story, Not Thinking Ahead (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/49299881/), was extremely short by my usual standards. This was not an accident, I didn't lose the other 3/4ths of the story down the back of the sofa or anything, I am just experimenting with returning to shortform content (sub 10k characters) as a way of reducing my workload and increasing my volume while also giving you guys more content to enjoy. Currently, I take a very "scattershot" approach with a very wide variety of niche content, which I feel isn't a great fit for my production model as I only put out (AT BEST!) 2 stories a month, usually just 1 (AT BEST!) which means a lot of the times, if someone doesn't like one of my stories, they are SoL for a long time before they get another chance to maybe enjoy my content. The advantage of producing more stories of shorter length is that I feel it is potentially a better fit for how diverse my content is as it means if you don't like a piece of my content, you won't have to wait so long for your next chance to enjoy it. Plus, the shorter stories will allow for more experimentation, as it won't be decided by populist voters or random commissions/trades/requests, so if you're interested in niche content this is also a win for you.
So please, don't be alarmed. I am just trying something new. I'm not going to halt longform production (baring yet another depression induced meltdown) or cutting down all my content. I just want to see if people enjoy shorter stories or if they only want to see big long meaty exploits to gorge themselves on.
And who knows? Depending on how the short stories are received, I may turn them into bite sized episodic pieces released between major projects, or expand them into full stories if/when they gain enough popularity or requests. Or maybe write a bunch of shorties as like "pilots" for a full story, and at set points throughout the year I will chose one of the pilots that got the most traction or that I personally feel has the most potential and expand that pilot into a full story.
Dunno yet. Just seeing how things play out. The experiment is in its infancy, and I require more data. So let me know what you think of me producing more shorties, or how you felt about my inaugural piece, Not Thinking Ahead and whether or not you feel like it needs any expansion or works well enough as a shorty!

Updates 2: Humble Pie & Ego Fuel
Posted 3 years agoMy second story has been updated and improved, so if you haven't read "The Garage Guillotine" in a while, maybe give it a look! https://www.furaffinity.net/view/40503375/
That said, unlike with Head for the Headless, which I had to effectively rewrite line by line due to how badly it held up, the updates on this story were minimal. I'm gonna be honest... I think I've been way too hard on both this story, and the slackjawed know-nothing lowest common denominator cretins who actually liked it. While I always considered this story one of my weaker ones, on account of it being super vanilla and overdone, I feel like the writing actually kinda compensates for how cliché it is. I'm not normally one to pat myself on the back, but I can't help but feel like I may have actually kind of done a better job on this one than I had initially thought. While there were a handful of awkward sentences and a few minor typos, it was otherwise solid, I think.
Gonna be honest with you all, this is kind of a new feeling for me. Re-reading something I made a long time ago and actually thinking it's good. It's a nice feeling. I'm sorry if that's conceited of me to say, but judging by how this story CRUSHES all my other stories in faves, I doubt many people would disagree that this one is actually alright.

Oh yeah, you can vote!
Posted 3 years agoI just recently realized that at no point have I ever mentioned this on FurAffinity, but the bulk of my stories are actually chosen by monthly public votes. If you would like to participate in selecting upcoming stories, please consider visiting my DeviantArt's journal and casting your vote! https://www.deviantart.com/presumablynotdead/posts
Updates
Posted 3 years agoI have updated my first story "Head for the Headless" to improve flow, remove typos, and generally make gooderer. If you liked that story's concept but hated how badly written it was, consider giving it another go. For purists, the original version can still be found in my scraps.
WARNING! SHARP OBJECTS!
Posted 3 years agoAs a heads up, the next 3 stories I post will all be about NBM sword fights. This was not a deliberate choice on my part, I just got an art trade for March and a commission for April both of which are sword fights, and the general public voted for me to remake "Bloodless Sport" for my March story poll. So if NBM sword fights aren't your bag, you may want to skim or skip me out until May. I just don't want people complaining that this is "all I do" now, as it was genuinely coincidental and not planned.
That said, if you're like me and NBM sword fights are literally your favorite form of NBM, then congratulations! You're in luck these next 6-7 weeks.

Long Time Coming
Posted 3 years agoTonight, I'm finally doing it. I'm finally going to be posting a furry story on this furry website for furries. So if you liked my content for the NBM but hate humanity and my fixation on human beings doing naughty, then rejoice! For I will finally be using this site for its intended purpose.
