CHANGING THE STARTUP SOUND IN WINDOWS 7
Posted 15 years agoBEFORE ANYTHING: GO INTO PERSONALIZE, SOUNDS, AND UNCHECK THE WINDOWS STARTUP SOUND.
Step one: Download this little goodie: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Progra.....e-Editor.shtml SAVE THIS TO A FLASH DRIVE, as you will need to run it on a different computer.
Step 2: Go into C:\Windows\System32 and find imageres.dll. Copy it to your desktop and save a second copy onto a flash drive.
Step 3: Take the audio file you want and convert it to wave format. If it's .wav and not .wave, go into DOS and enter rename (insert filepath here) 5080.wave, like this: rename C:\GTintro.wav 5080.wave. Then take this and copy it onto your flash drive.
(5080 is the startup sound for Windows 7 computers in US English)
ON A SECOND COMPUTER:
Step 4: Run XN Resource Editor, Open the imageres.dll file you copied, and click "Resources," then "Imput User Resource." Select your renamed sound file and insert it. Then, right-click on the "English (United States)" file and select "Delete Resource." Save the file. If you do this on Windows 7, it'll give you an Error 50. You could also dual-boot XP, if you have it.
Once you're done editing imageres.dll, take your flash drive to your Windows 7 powered rig.
Step 5 is tricky, and I'm not completely sure how I got it. You're going to need to change permissions, which Windows 7 is notoriously picky about. You'll find that only "trustedinstaller" can mess with System32 files. What you need to do is go into DOS and enter the takeown command, which is shown here:

Getting a camera! Canon 50D
Posted 15 years agoSo I finally got the money for a camera. Tax refunds are awesome like that.
I was debating for months about what camera I wanted, and I finally settled on the Canon 50D DSLR. I found one brand new for $860 including shipping. Body only, though.
I decided to get the body first, then hunt for a better lens than the cheapo kit ones. I probably won't get it until April, though.
But either way... WOOT!!! Awesome photography to come! ^^

They're the SAME people that yell that Obama is violating the Constitution, but THEY THEMSELVES ARE VIOLATING THE SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE!
Same-sex marriage bans violate Article 4 Section 1, Article 6, and Amendments 1, 9, 10, and 14 of the Constitution of the United States of America. These HYPOCRITES keep talking about "their rights" being violated by allowing some gay couple to get married in another place, but CAN'T NAME WHAT RIGHTS THOSE ARE!
These people also believe that being gay is a choice. They've driven countless gays to suicide because they demonize homosexuals. These people claim abortion is murder- DRIVING GAYS TO SUICIDE IS MURDER, YOU DUMB FUCKS.

I've decided that I'm going to open an automotive tuning shop. Right now I'm planning on doing costom intake/exhaust work as well as ECU tuning. A dyno is a MUST, but I know they're ungodly expensive.
I'm also hoping to be able to do some aero work like design and fabricate costom undertrays.
There is a dirt racing track nearby, so I'll most likely have a customer base comprised of racers and ricers. I've seen quite a few tuner cars out here.
So after I'm out of Oregon State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, I'll be opening up shop. ^^
Now for a name.. Lupine Performance Engineering?

Same-sex civil unions are denied equal rights. A gay couple cannot even visit one another in a hospital or make medical decisions for their partner. The rights that the law refuses to grant to homosexuals are the same rights that heterosexuals take for granted. This can go on no more!
In the words of Franklin D. Roosevelt, "The moment a mere numerical superiority by either states or voters in this country proceeds to ignore the needs and desires of the minority, and for their own selfish purpose or advancement, hamper or oppress that minority, or debar them in any way from equal privileges and equal rights -- that moment will mark the failure of our constitutional system."
Brothers and sisters, the time has come! No longer can you remain silent. Speak and be known! Continue to march the streets. Continue to open dialogs, and prove that you are no different from anyone else and you deserve no different treatment. You did not ask nor choose to be this way. It is time we heterosexuals realize that the people affected by discrimination are our friends and neighbors, even our family members. They co-exist with us, and most of us don't even know when we meet a gay man or woman. Yet the "law" still treats them as inferior. There are many who think that only gays support gay rights. They are wrong. As I stand here today and speak out against oppression, I prove them wrong. I am here to say, enough is enough! We can no longer continue to use and abuse the right to marry when there are countless Americans denied that same right! I am here to prove that the so-called "Religious Right" is the Religious Wrong! Even President Obama has said America "is not a Christian country, but one of many faiths." Not every American believes the same way you do! There are many religions in the world, most of which conflict. None can be proven right or wrong, and that's why it's called "faith!" Faith should stay in your own heart, and out of the laws of this country.
Some say that marriage is strictly a religious rite. If that is true, marriage should be removed from law entirely, including heterosexual marriage. But if they would read their bibles entirely, they would realize that it teaches love, acceptance, and brotherhood. It also says that they should follow the word of God and not bother with the governments of Man! These hypocrites only take what they want from the Bible and ignore the rest.
Some also say that marriage is for procreation. Either these people are blind and deaf, or they refuse to see the countless infants born out of wedlock, and countless wedded couples who are incapable of bearing children. Should these couples be barred the right to marry as well? These paranoid homophobics are looking for any and all excuse to justify their wrong, but it is still wrong. They have the right to disagree, but their right to swing their fists end where another man's nose begins!
Go forth and flood your county offices! Demand marriage certificates! They will refuse, but declare your Constitutional rights! You may be arrested, but this is necessary to send a message across the country that your rights have been taken away! Civil disobedience is one of the strongest messages you can send. It has worked in the past, and will work again. If you truly want equality, you must be willing to do whatever it takes. Flood the jails! Send your message loud and clear!
You are not alone in this fight for freedom. It will be long and hard, but you have allies. In time, you will win this fight. Your freedom cannot be denied forever! A member contacted me about whether or not they can be used for expanding and printing, and I sent him some additional samples as well as a full-sized image for quality inspection. He liked what he saw, and placed an order as soon as I told him the custom labeled discs were available!

Same-Sex Marriage Bans and the United States Constitution
Posted 16 years agoCalifornia's Proposition 8 is in Federal court right now in a two week trial that will decide whether voters have the right to take rights away from a minority, or if same-sex marriage bans violate the United States Constitution. Those who take our Supreme Law of the Land to heart know that it is there to protect the rights of a minority among other things. After looking into same-sex marriage bans, I have found that they violate the United States Constitution, and must be struck down at all costs.
Part of Article 4, Section 1 states, "Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State. And the Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof." Now, we know that if we get married in one state and move to another, we don't have to marry again, because of this clause. However, if a gay couple gets married, their marriage is not recognised in all states. This violates Full Faith and Credit, and thus the law is Unconstitutional.
Part of Article 6 reads, "This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding." Obviously, this says that the US Constituion is the highest law in America, and no other laws can violate it. Unfortunately, many groups are attacking the Supremacy Clause by trying to write discrimination into state laws. State same-sex marriage bans violate the US Constitution, and thus are null and void.
The 1st Amendment reads, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." This amendment has set the standard for the Separation between Church and State. When the first pilgrims came to America, they sought religious freedom. They did not believe in the Church of England, and so were outcasts. When our Founding Fathers made our great country, they wrote this Amendment to make sure that the government would not become what we broke free from. Passing a law using religious justification, like Proposition 8, is a direct attack on our nation's very foundations. Religious extremists are seeking to turn America into a theocracy, saying America is a "Christian Nation." The moment America is a "Christian Nation" is the very monent our nation is no longer the United States of America.
The 9th Amendment reads, "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people." The argument that "marriage isn't in the Constitution so it's not a right" holds no ground because of this Amendment. Obviously, the framers couldn't list every human right, so they left it open. In the US Supreme Court case Loving v. Virginia, marriage was determined to be a fundimental right.
The 10th Amendment reads, "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." This Amendment gives States powers not delegated to the Federal government. However, the clause "nor prohibited by it to the states" means that if the Constitution says no, then it's no, period, and States cannot violate the US Constitution. State same-sex marriage bans overstep the powers granted to States, and is therefore Unconstitutional.
The 14th Amendment reads, "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." This is a big one. Same-sex marriage bans deny Americans equal protection of the law. It also clearly says, "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States." This means that states cannot pass laws like California's Proposition 8.

I've had an epiphany...
Posted 16 years agoDo we ever really grow up? I mean, babies rely on bottles. Adults do as well. From booze bottles to water bottles, even grown-ups have their lips permanately adhered to some kind of container. The only difference is that adult water bottles have high-flow nipples.
(... Okay. I've got to get a K&N sticker on my water bottle's sport top now. It would be HILARIOUS.)
When we get old, we once again lose control of our excretory systems and need to rely on absorbent undergarments.
During our middle age, we feel a drastic need to be young again. We buy lots of toys and act like a kid again.
This has led me to conclude that age is merely an illusion. We never do grow up. We just repress our childhood.
Either I'm on to something Freudian here, or age regression art is just looking too damn cute. XD

Posted 16 years agoI came to Oregon State University because I wanted to be a Wildlife Biologist and Wolf Specialist, but after taking some coursework, it just didn't feel right to me. So,I explored some options, and ended up changing majors to Mechanical Engineering, and joining OSU's Formula SAE racing team!
I'm stoked about that. The team captain said my GPA WILL go down being on the team, since so much time is devoted to it, but having the SAE racing program on your resume will easilly top a high GPA. And, I'm a total racing nut, so it's a perfect fit.
Maybe I can network with some people on the inside and make a professional career in racing. ^^
Now if only I can get my custom undertray on Stickers..

Posted 16 years agoWell, getting the undertray on Stickers hasn't been easy. I've hit a road block. I can't do the two middle pieces until it's on a proper lift, so that's going to be a little while before that's done. I realized that jackstands just don't lift the car high enough for me to move underneath it.
Modified the front undertray today, so hopefully I'll see an improvement.

DarkEmberKitty's place a long while back. It turned out SO GOOD. Even the breast meat was dripping with juices, and it was so flavorful, Ember ended up eating half the skin before I got in a taste.

Rolling automotive project
Posted 16 years agoI'm slowly working on improving my '91 Ford Tempo while I'm still using it as a daily driver. And it's the only car I have.
So far, I've replaced the rear springs with Moog variable-rate cargo springs, which definitely stiffens up the rear and helps reduce understeer. I swapped one of the rear struts to a Gabriel Ultra when the stock strut broke during the spring swap. Haven't gotten the other side yet.
I've also thrown in a K&N air filter and modified the stock air intake to let in more air, as well as replaced the restrictive stock muffler with a much higher flowing Dynomax Super Turbo (gives it a nice low note, and the volume is low- in other words, perfect).
Aerowise, I've added front and rear tire spats (the picture in my submissions is old, since I've done some research on the size of the spats, and now have the front and rear spats to appropriate sizes for lift and drag reduction), a rear lip spoiler, and vortex generators (think of those fin-looking things on the newer Lancer Evo.)
I've also replaced one of the rubber exhaust hangers, so my pipes aren't dangling anymore.
Astetically, I've added a pair of driving lights and a tach, and it's plastered with stickers, a pair of pawprints in the side rear windows, and my fursona in the rear window.
Here's my to-do list:
I REALLY need to get the passenger window replaced. It got stuck down when the motor died and it shattered when trying to get it back up.
Need to replace the other 3 struts and swap the front springs.
I'm also looking into designing a belly pan. I just need to wait until after the special election here in Oregon (January, and I'm not sure how I'm going to vote. Need to read the text first, but the general consensus is Dems vote Yes and Republicans vote No on two measures to increase revenue through taxes. I'm socially liberal, but fiscally conservative, so I might vote no on those unless the text says it's something that won't affect employment.) before I'll be able to get material for it. Those campaign signs are made of coroplast, a plastic that's made like cardboard, and is quite good for these kind of things.
I'm also thinking about slapping some 17" wheels on it, if I find a good deal on a set with a 4X108 bolt pattern and around 40mm offset.
There's a possibility I might be getting a front air dam and side skirts as well, which are very rare for Tempos.
Other than that, I FINALLY got the check engine light to stay off! The EGR and IAC valves needed a good cleaning, and I also got the throttle body while I was at it. She's got some nice power now, and even surprised me a few times. :) She's also got new Oregon plates and I've got my Oregon license, so I'm fully legal now, and don't need to re-register until 2011! XD
Also, Progressive has pretty good rates for male drivers under 25. It was only $350 for 6 months, and everywhere else was at least $600. Geico was $660, and 21st Century was a whopping $1300.

Astetically, I've added a pair of driving lights and a tach, and it's plastered with stickers, a pair of pawprints in the side rear windows, and my fursona in the rear window.

I REALLY need to get the passenger window replaced. It got stuck down when the motor died and it shattered when trying to get it back up.
Need to replace the other 3 struts and swap the front springs.
I'm also looking into designing a belly pan. I just need to wait until after the special election here in Oregon (January, and I'm not sure how I'm going to vote. Need to read the text first, but the general consensus is Dems vote Yes and Republicans vote No on two measures to increase revenue through taxes. I'm socially liberal, but fiscally conservative, so I might vote no on those unless the text says it's something that won't affect employment.) before I'll be able to get material for it. Those campaign signs are made of coroplast, a plastic that's made like cardboard, and is quite good for these kind of things.
I'm also thinking about slapping some 17" wheels on it, if I find a good deal on a set with a 4X108 bolt pattern and around 40mm offset.
There's a possibility I might be getting a front air dam and side skirts as well, which are very rare for Tempos.
Other than that, I FINALLY got the check engine light to stay off! The EGR and IAC valves needed a good cleaning, and I also got the throttle body while I was at it. She's got some nice power now, and even surprised me a few times. :) She's also got new Oregon plates and I've got my Oregon license, so I'm fully legal now, and don't need to re-register until 2011! XD
Also, Progressive has pretty good rates for male drivers under 25. It was only $350 for 6 months, and everywhere else was at least $600. Geico was $660, and 21st Century was a whopping $1300.
