Kudos to the BBC for presenting the article in a neutral fashion, which is what they're sopposed to do.
Now if only I can find these behavioural scientists that are sopposedly wanting to study Furries. I'd give them a hell of a time, since I can also analyze behaviour. lol

wo0t wo0t! I's happy now. ^^ My additional financial aid finally came through! So I'm not broke anymore, and I can pay the rent.
And it also means... CAR UPGRADES. I'm getting some extra parts for my Tempo. XD Higher-flow muffler (stock is 150 cfm (CRAP), and the one I'm getting is 272 cfm, and it's SMALLER!), vortex generators, M3-style lip spoiler, and I'll be fabricating a diffuser. ^^ I'm also looking into materials for an air dam.
And I can finally get around to installing the Moog variable-rate cargo springs I have for the front, as well as get some new struts.
Though my laptop is DYING. It's running slower than normal, and I just reformatted the hard drive, which has always leaned it out and restored the speed when it was new. Won't be able to afford the Toshiba I'm going to build until January, though.
Also, my Yosemite photo CDs are on Ebay! 25% of every purchase goes to Defenders of Wildlife!

Commissions from my fiancee, and my Yosemite CDs are on Ebay
General | Posted 16 years agoMy fiancee,
DarkEmberKitty is thinking about offering some commissions. She's been rather inspired lately.. Right now she's doing some pictures for haloween, and they actually look really good! She hasn't been able to scan them as of yet, and we don't have a camera (which hopefully will change soon! I won't be able to afford the DSLR I'm wanting to get eventually, but at least I can get a higher end Canon point-and-shoot that we can use for her art and I can do for some nature photos.)
So, if anyone would like to ask about commissions, send her a note! Don't worry, she doesn't bite... anyone other than me.. >_>

THINGS ARE FINALLY LOOKING UP!
General | Posted 16 years agoSo, yeah. After weeks of stressing over being broke, and being warned that if my girlfriend and I don't come up with something soon, our landlady was going to have to serve us notice.
BUT.
My additional financial aid FINALLY came through. Next week I'll be getting a sum of $3,500 into my bank account, so I'll be able to pay overdue rent, as well as get my car registered in Oregon, get an oil change, and several other necessary things.
Also. I'm going to start putting money aside to get myself a new laptop. I'm looking at customizing a Toshiba Sattelite A500. XD Except they pulled the graphics card options except for the crappy integrated one. O_o Not going that route.
I'm also going to be investing in a DSLR, so I can start my photograhy again! The laptop has the Labelflash feature which writes labels onto CDs, so I'll really be able to sell some photo collections!
By the way, my Yosemite collection is still for sale at $15 per CD, $10 for each additional CD if you want a copy for a friend or backup. ^^
Now, to go get my girlfriend coffee... She has withdrawls.

Seriously... There's too much drama here.
General | Posted 16 years agoPeople on FA just need to calm the f*** down. Seriously.
First, there's the zoophile witch hunt, and now I read on another members journal that she was banned because she was on a TV show talking about fursuit sex.
I don't agree with how she misrepresented the fandom, and would have suggested that she made it clear they're lifestylers, I give them props for going public.
But seriously, there's too much drama on here.
What'll be next, banning all the cub fans? Hardcore kinks?
I'm predicting a mass exodus if things keep going this way... Myself included.

SAVE OREGON'S WOLF POPULATION!
General | Posted 16 years agoFrom the Center of Biological Diversity:
As you read this email, a federal sharpshooter in a plane is tracking a pair of wolves near eastern Oregon's Eagle Cap Wilderness. Homing in on a radio collar worn by the male wolf, the sharpshooter is under orders to shoot both wolves because they killed livestock.
The wolves are in a forested area where a clear shot is not guaranteed. Furthermore, the killers must shoot the uncollared wolf first to ensure that both wolves are destroyed.
That means there may still be time to save these wolves.
Right now, the Center for Biological Diversity is fighting to restore these wolves' yanked Endangered Species Act protections through a lawsuit that also seeks protection for wolves in Idaho and Montana.
We have requested an injunction that could come any day now; if granted, it would mean the end of this hunt and a renewed opportunity for wolves, livestock, and people to co-exist peacefully in Oregon.
The permit to kill these wolves has been issued by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. Please ask Governor Ted Kulongoski to intercede and spare these wolves now -- they're running out of time.
Use the following text to urge Governor Ted Kulongoski to call off the hunt immediately. Call him at (503) 378-4582, fax him at (503) 378-6827, or email him via the web at http://governor.oregon.gov/Gov/contact_us.shtml.
Dear Governor Kulongoski,
I urge you to immediately call off the hunt for the pair of wolves near eastern Oregon's Eagle Cap Wilderness and insist the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife rescind the kill order and permit.
You can intercede and spare these incredible animals -- but time is running out.
The targeted wolves killed sheep and a cow in April and May, but after ranchers took steps to protect their stock they suffered no more losses through June, July, and most of August.
Oregon Department of Wildlife should continue helping livestock owners develop effective means to protect their stock and give Oregon the opportunity for wolves, livestock, and people to co-exist peacefully. In the meantime, occasional but rare depredations should not preclude the survival of these precious recolonizing wolves. These wolves need your help now.
Please call off the hunt and urge the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife to immediately rescind the kill order and permit.

In the meantime, occasional but rare depredations should not preclude the survival of these precious recolonizing wolves. These wolves need your help now.
Please call off the hunt and urge the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife to immediately rescind the kill order and permit.
SAVE IDAHO'S WOLVES BEFORE THEY BECOME EXTINCT!

This link goes to a video from Defenders of Wildlife telling the grim tale of how Idaho's governor wants to slaughter the wolves in his state.
The Gray Wolf has been prematurely removed from the Endangered Species List- They're still very much in danger from humans.
Please, take a moment and sign the letter to President Obama and urge him to relist the wolves before they become extinct!

I need some help... And a new radiator.
General | Posted 16 years agoI need some help from my watchers... My 1991 Ford Tempo overheated before I got very far when I was going to go take my license test. I took it to a radiator repair shop (very well trusted and has been in buisness for 30 years), and the mechanic told me that it's most likely not the thermostat like I thought, but it could be a clog in the radiator. The fix? Flush out the system, and replace the radiator. Without replacing the radiator, the same buildup will return. It also still has the original hoses, which need replacing.
The verdict? It'll cost around $600.
My real trouble is that I need to be at oreientation for my college out of state on Aug. 31st and Sep. 1st, so I need my car to be running and ready by then.
So, my watchers, I ask you for a favor. Would you mind ordering my CDs of Yosemite photos to help me save up money for the repairs? I accept PayPal, check, and money order.
Like my photos? They can be yours! I'm selling each photo for $1 each, and can be emailed to you! All pictures will come full-size and watermark-free.
I'm selling CD's of all 197 Yosemite National Park photos for $15, and mail them worldwide at no extra charge! All pictures are full-size and watermark free! That's less than 8 cents a picture!
NEW! Want prints? You can order them from DA, or ask me to print and frame them for you at less than what DA will charge! 8X10 prints are only $40, frame and shipping included!

States violate 1st Amendment, Article 6 of US Constitution
General | Posted 16 years agoSeveral states (including TX, AR, MA, MD, NC, PA, SC and TN) all have laws in their state constitutions which directly violate Article 6 of the US Constitution, which reads:
"The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."
Texas has a clause in Article 1, Section 4 of thier State Bill of Rights:
"Sec. 4. RELIGIOUS TESTS. No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office, or public trust, in this State; nor shall any one be excluded from holding office on account of his religious sentiments, provided he acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being."
The last clause is in clear violation of the United States Constitution. Source, from Texas lawbooks: http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx......N/htm/CN.1.htm
Arkansas has the following law in Article 19, Section 1 of their state constitution:
"No person who denies the being of a God shall hold any office in the civil departments of this State, nor be competent to testify as a witness in any Court. "
Again, clearly violating the US Constitution. Source: http://www.sos.arkansas.gov/ar-cons.....arcart19-1.htm
Maryland has the same religious test, violating Article 6, under the State Constitution's Bill of Rights, Articles 36 and 37:
"Article 36.
That as it is the duty of every man to worship God in such manner as he
thinks most acceptable to Him, all persons are equally entitled to protection in their
religious liberty; wherefore, no person ought by any law to be molested in his person
or estate, on account of his religious persuasion, or profession, or for his religious
practice, unless, under the color of religion, he shall disturb the good order, peace or
safety of the State, or shall infringe the laws of morality, or injure others in their
natural, civil or religious rights; nor ought any person to be compelled to frequent,
or maintain, or contribute, unless on contract, to maintain, any place of worship, or
any ministry; nor shall any person, otherwise competent, be deemed incompetent as
a witness, or juror, on account of his religious belief, provided, he believes in the
existence of God, and that under His dispensation such person will be held morally
accountable for his acts, and be rewarded or punished therefor either in this world
or in the world to come.
Nothing shall prohibit or require the making reference to belief in, reliance
upon, or invoking the aid of God or a Supreme Being in any governmental or public
document, proceeding, activity, ceremony, school, institution, or place.
Nothing in this article shall constitute an establishment of religion. (1970, ch.
558, ratified Nov. 3, 1970.)
Article 37.
That no religious test ought ever to be required as a qualification for any
office of profit or trust in this State, other than a declaration of belief in the
existence of God; nor shall the Legislature prescribe any other oath of office than
the oath prescribed by this Constitution."

There are more, which can all be verified from the direct text of their state Constitutions.

So... New journal. What to add?
General | Posted 16 years agoHm. Well, my project involving my car is going fairly well. I got the hood vents finished, and I'm working on adding some flaps in front of the rear tires to deflect air away from them, but Idon't know the proper name, actually. ^^; Their purpose is to push air away from the tires, because if the air hits the rotating tires, it creates a lot of turbulence, and actually generates lift from the air being forced under the tires. The flaps prevent this from happening. I have them cut and fitted, but I need to figure out how to install them.
Maybe I should try one of those meme thingies...
