I made a SubscribeStar
Posted a year agoI am currently out of work and the future is uncertain, so I set up a SubscribeStar page (correctly, this time)!
I intend on keeping the majority of my art freely available, but I will be uploading higher res paintings and some alts there.
https://subscribestar.adult/hexacult
Right now, this is mostly a tip jar, meant to help me pay for food / rent. There are multiple tiers, but they all get you the same access. The higher tiers are there if you want to be extra generous.
There are currently some bonus doodles on there, as well as a textless and cum-less alt for the recent possum taur pic.

Don't Forget To Check Scraps
Posted a year agoAs I've worked on my art and started to actually fill out my gallery with fully colored paintings, I've decided I'd rather post new doodles and quickie sketches to scraps rather than generally putting them in the main gallery.
The upshot is that if you like my art and want to see goofier, quicker, lower-effort stuff, there's plenty of it to go through, both new doodles and old.

Moving Alts To Scraps
Posted a year agoIn the interest of keeping my gallery a bit more clean at a glance, I'm moving some alternate versions of my recent paintings to scraps, like I've done with the original lines once the paintings werr completed.
All pictures in the "series" will have links to the other versions so it should be easy to get to them.
I feel like scraps is a good place for things like that, in lieu of being able to upload multiple versions of a picture in a single submission.
If you haven't yet, feel free to browse around in the scraps folder. There are a bunch of doodles o in there, including some collages of things I had previously only posted to social media.

Gallery Update Complete
Posted 2 years agoAlright, I think I've revisited everything.
I was able to upload high res versions of almost all of my art, save a few things I no longer have the originals of (mostly in scraps).
If you like my old art, I encourage you to check out the re-uploaded versions, and hope you find more consistent style of navigation links to be useful.

Gallery Reorganization
Posted 2 years agoI've decided to go through my entire gallery and do some cleanup and reorganization.
It's gonna take some time, but I'm attempting to do the following:
• Reorganize folders to be a bit more useful
◦ There will now be groups to organize my posts by contents
∙ Mediums/ – Folders for the way the artwork was created, be it a sketch, painting, pixel art, etc.
∙ Themes/ – Folders for common themes in my art, such as transformation, hyper, etc.
∙ Characters/ – Folders for characters I revisit from time to time, like my fursona, or the recurring Beast Energy series
◦ Folders for individual TF sequences are being removed
∙ I found these were getting both unwieldy and unhelpful, as most sequences are posted back to back and never revisited
• Standardize navigation links for sequences
◦ Sequences will now have ◀ Prev | First | Next ▶ links centered at the very top of each image in the submission to make navigation consistent and easy
◦ This should hopefully help alleviate anything that was lost by removing the individual sequence folders
• Upload higher resolution versions of ancient posts
◦ I submitted a lot of my really old art at super low resolutions, like 600x600, but I have higher res versions of most of them on my harddrive
◦ I'm not sure those old pieces really benefit from a higher res, as they're all pretty quick and sketchy, but I think it's worth it for posterity at the very least
I've gotten started on the process but it's gonna take a little while to get through it all, so things might be in a weird state for a day or two.
Edit – Wow what a pain to get an indented list. Shoutout to this Journal for a useful trick to get it working!

Moving some stuff to scraps
Posted 2 years agoHey folks, just a heads up that I'm doing a little gallery cleanup to try and put the paintings I've been working on lately a bit more front and center in my gallery.
This means that I've moved the lineart for things I later colored into scraps, along with some other sketches.
They are still fully accessible and are not being deleted! They'll stay in your favorites if you had any of them faved. You just may need to look in there if you want to find some recent sketches that aren't in the main gallery anymore.

Rules For Coloring My Sketches
Posted 6 years agoHey all,
Since I don't draw other people's characters too often, I didn't think about this when I first gave blanket permission to color and post my sketches (with attribution), but now that I've done some gift work featuring characters that belong to other people, it's clear that some rules should be established.
1. Include a link back to the original sketch that was altered in the description of the colored post
2. If a character belonging to a person other than me is included in the picture, please get their permission before altering it
3. Please ask me permission if you'd like to color a picture including my 'sona (hex)
4. I probably don't have to clarify this one, but don't use my lines as the basis for anything including hate speech
I think those are all pretty permissive. Most of my art doesn't include other people's characters so you should be all set going ahead and using them so long as you link back to the original.
Thanks.

Answering Shout Questions
Posted 7 years agoI don't know why people ask me questions in shouts, 'cuz I don't have any good way to respond to them, but there are a few hanging out in there that I feel are worth addressing.
Why don't I post more frequently?
I'm simply not a full-time artist. Unlike many of the very good and much more prolific artists on this site, I do not take commissions and my livelihood is in no way related to my ability to produce art at a reasonable pace. I typically only draw when I get motivated, and that only happens once in awhile.
Exacerbating the issue, I've been coping with depressive episodes, sometimes spanning months, for the last several years. I'm basically incapable of accomplishing creative stuff when I'm in one of those funks. You'll usually see me post several things in a short timespan when I get a brief burst of motivation, then I'll hit a slump and stop producing for awhile.
I'm currently taking steps to try to address this problem, but I'm in the very early stages of finding what will work for me, and even if I do get it under control I can't promise that I'll be a more prolific furry porn artist. Porn was always kind of the "easy out" for me creatively during and after college, where I felt I could still draw without having to have a big, grand idea behind it. I'm hoping that in the future I may be able to go back to some of those more intensive and creatively satisfying projects in the future.
Where have my streams gone?
I still do them on occasion, when the mood strikes me. Back when I started I was having an unusually long upswing in my mood, and I became a bit obsessed with streaming. I simply can't keep up that pace. They'll continue to be pretty intermittent for the foreseeable future. Sorry.
Will I start a Patreon / KoFi / taking commissions?
Nope. I'm financially stable without taking money to produce art, and I'd like to keep it that way. As soon as I start taking money it will become more of a responsibility to actually produce results, and my sometimes-hobby will morph into a job, and that just seems awful.

Apologies to Stream-goers
Posted 7 years agoSo tonight I put on a stream that I ended up calling off early, due to "not feeling it". This happens with some frequency, and I apologize to people who make time to come to them only for that to happen.
Unfortunately streaming is one of those things I'm not a natural at. I get very flustered when I'm working on something that's new or challenging, and it's much worse when I'm doing it in front of an audience. Sometimes it doesn't bother me, and I push through it just fine. Other times it weighs down on me quite a bit, occasionally to the point where I don't feel I can finish what I started. It's a function of my mood, and I can never quite tell which way it will go until after I've gotten into it.
Part of the problem does seem to stem from suggestions and randomization streams. While I like the idea of taking suggestions from the chat, in practice I often find it hard to work on things when I wasn't previously engaged in it, and taking creative control away from me tends to exacerbate the issue.
I'll likely refrain from streaming for awhile unless it's something I've already got a good handle on, like coloring already completed lineart.
I want to thank those of you who've had patience and understanding when I've put on a disappointing stream. You're all very supportive and lovely people.

PNG and SAI files updated
Posted 7 years agoHello all,
I just spent some time going through my artwork and cleaning up the folders on Google Drive. I've tried to do the following things, where possible:
* Rename images to match the names used on FurAffinity
* Export PNGs as uncolored line-art (where the lines are still usable)
* Export PNGs for the Grimoire sequence, One-Offs folder, and Stream Sketches folder
Feel free to browse around in there. You may find some unfinished sketches I never posted in the One-Offs folder if you've got a keen eye.

Stream Suggestions - A Clarification
Posted 7 years agoHey all,
I occasionally take suggestions for what to draw when I do my streams, but I've done a poor job of communicating how I use these suggestions.
How I Use Suggestions
I chat suggestions as jumping off points, the way a writer might expand upon a writing prompt. I often like to get a bunch of ideas from the chat and collate the ones I think will work well into a single image.
It can lead to some goofy but creative character designs that are fun to draw.
How I Don't Use Suggestions
I do not treat suggestions as commissions or requests. These pictures aren't intended for a single person. If I've started on a sketch and haven't included a fetish or stylistic choice that you've asked for in the chat, it may just not get included. There are some things I don't feel comfortable drawing, and there are some things that I don't think will work for the specific idea I'm sketching out at the time.
If you're looking for someone to do artwork specifically for you, where you can dictate the fine details of the picture, I'd recommend looking for a stream where the artist explicitly takes commissions.
Your best bet of getting something included in a sketch of mine is before I really start in on it, when I'm explicitly asking for ideas.
Hope that makes things a little clearer!

PNGs and SAI files for download
Posted 7 years agoHey all,
I previously suggested in a comment that I might do this, but I totally forgot until somebody who ended up coloring one of my sketches without access to the original files made a mention of it. I've uploaded the PNG and SAI files for the stuff I've posted online to Google Drive.
Click here to view the files on Google Drive
Some of the older stuff no longer has SAI files, and some of the SAI files weren't saved to PNGs, so make of it what you will. Feel free to browse around in there for stuff. I'll try to remember to keep it up to date.

Heck
Posted 7 years agoIt bugs me, way more than it probably should, that some EDM group (I think...? I'm not strictly positive I understand what it is they do...) are using my username on twitter, instagram, etc.
I'm not even interested in having accounts on those services, but like... Really? Couldn't you have done a Google search and realized that the name was associated with raunchy furry porn before thinking "yeah, that's a good one, let's go with that".
*harumph*
It was unique back when I grabbed it in 2011. 'Cuz I actually had the foresight to do a Google search before using it.
Get yer own name, you turds!
Heck.

Grimoire will return
Posted 7 years agoHey all. So I've been experimenting with some streams lately, and a regular bit of feedback I've gotten from the chat is that is that people want more of the Grimoire sequence. I think people are worried that it's been abandoned, since I've traditionally posted sequences in one big chunk only after finishing the entire thing.
I fully intend on coming back to it, with more transformations in store (for both characters)!
However I'm taking a bit of a break at the moment. This sequence has turned out to be much longer than I'd originally planned, and refusing to work on other things before completing it was sapping away my interest.
So, I've decided to approach it in chunks, doing a few pages at a time, with other stuff in between. I think that's a healthier way of completing longer projects like this. I'll be sure to group the submissions together with a folder and navigation. I may take a similar approach to future TF sequences, especially if they go full-comic like this one.
Hopefully that assuages any fears.

Wings are hard
Posted 8 years agoSeriously. I don't know why I keep trying to draw characters with wings. Wings are the new hands. Wings are the Dark Souls of furry art.
Edit
While we're here, because I like recommending music I'm listening to, check out the album "Seeds of Love" by Tears for Fears. I am so down with this album. It's a little more art rock than most of their other stuff.
Here's one of the best songs off it: Year of the Knife

Another album worth listening to
Posted 8 years agoBecause maybe somebody cares, I think it's worth giving this a signal boost. Australian Neo-Progressive Rock group Anubis released a new concept album recently. I've been listening to it on Spotify, and I really enjoy it.
It's called The Second Hand. Very melodic prog, sort of in the vein of IQ. You can listen to one of the songs on their official youtube channel:
Fool's Gold (Lyric Video) — The Second Hand by Anubis
Might on post some doodles today. I haven't been drawing much lately (or saving any of the stuff I've drawn). Wasn't super happy with how the latest thing came out (mostly in the background department - ended up being a sort of half-measure that distracts more than if I'd just done nothing). Anything I post today is probably going to be less ambitious and more doodly.

A music suggestion
Posted 9 years agoI have this week off, so I'm getting some time to draw. I always have music (or video or whatever) on in the background while drawing, and lately that role has been filed by A.C.T, a Swedish eclectic progressive rock band that I'm really enjoying.
I'd compare them to Kaipa, with elements of Dream Theater, Queen and Supertramp thrown in.
I've had Circus Pandemonium playing on loop. If you're a fan of bombastic, theatrical concept albums, definitely, definitely check this out. I'd also highly recommend their album Last Epic.
If you're not set on settling down and listening to an hour long album, these songs give a good sampling of their sound:
1. The End (Circus Pandemonium)
2. The Funniest Man Alive (Circus Pandemonium)
3. Wailings From a Building (Last Epic)
4. Mr. Lanford (Last Epic)

Gallery Folders
Posted 9 years agoHey, just a heads up. I actually went through and categorized stuff into folders finally. Obvious each TF sequence gets its own folder (under the Transformation subcategory). But I've also grouped other related pictures together under the Non-TF Collections category, and put together some generic theme folders as well (Pixels, Multibreast, Hyper) so act as sort of filters for common themes in my postings.
Dunno if people really use the folder system, but hopefully it'll be helpful to someone out there.

I am fine!
Posted 10 years agoHey there.
Apparently people are like... worrying about me, because I haven't posted in awhile. Don't worry, everything is fine!
Unfortunately I'm just not a super prolific artist. I have a full time job and several other hobbies, so I never really known when I'm going to get around to doing artwork. It's something I have to be in the mood for, and lately that's been pretty intermittent. I also have a bad habit of trying to get more ambitious drawings done than I have the time or motivation for, so there's a bit of unfinished stuff sitting around on my computer that may or may not ever get finished. It may find its way into scraps at some point.
Stuff will continue to show up. It won't be at a breakneck pace, but I do still draw, so things will wind up on here.
Sorry for the inconvenience. Just wanted to make it clear that there's nothing to be worried about.
cheers

Awesome Progressive Rock & Metal You Probably Haven't Heard
Posted 11 years agoRandom journal, because I feel like making one. I've been listening to a lot of Progressive Rock and Progressive Metal while drawing and working lately. My close friends will tell you that I'm a huge nerd for this kind of music - I don't leave them alone about it. Felt like sharing some of the stuff I discovered in the last year or so that really deserves a listen:
Disclaimer: My tastes in music tend to lean more towards melodic and technical stuff than music that's really full of attitude. I also tend to like stuff that expects to be listened to from start to finish, in album format. I'll be recommending albums rather than songs.
The Theory of Everything - Ayreon (2013)[Progressive Metal]
Category
- Concept Album, Rock Opera
Plot Synopsis
- A brilliant savant's life spirals out of control as he becomes consumed with his obsession for uncovering a unifying theory of everything.
Description
- A huge concept-album with an opera-like scale, by the Dutch mastermind Arjen Lucassen. Consists of 4 very long 20 minute songs, split up into a total of 42 short segments, with a cast of fantastic singers and guest musicians. This album has a serious pedigree when it comes to contributors, such as:
* Cristina Scabbia (Vocalist - Lacuna Coil)
* John Wetton (Vocalist - King Crimson, Asia)
* Jordan Rudess (Keyboardist - Dream Theater)
* Keith Emmerson (Keyboardist - Emmerson Lake & Palmer)
* Marco Hietala (Vocalist - Nightwish)
* Rick Wakeman (Keyboardist - Yes)
* Steve Hackett (Guitarist - Genesis)
Almost everything by Ayreon is fantastic, but this one goes above and beyond. I've listened to it dozens of times, sometimes back-to-back while drawing. Not once in its hour-and-a-half running length have I found it tedious or boring. It might just be me, but if you're going to check out one thing on this list, I think this one really deserves special notice.
Favorite Song
* Doesn't apply! Seriously, it's impossible to take a single song from this album out of context with the rest of it. Most of the album flows neatly from one song to the next. If you want to hear a bit, check out the first phase of it, Singularity
Other Awesome Albums by Ayreon
* Into the Electric Castle: A Space Opera
* The Human Equation
Visions - Haken (2011) [Progressive Metal, Progressive Rock]
Category
- Concept Album, Rock Opera
Plot Synopsis
- A child's dreams of his own death haunt him, causing him to go through life with paranoid delusions.
Description
- Haken is a relatively new band as far as the Progressive Rock and Metal genres go, and this is by far my favorite of their three albums to date. This is another concept album in rock-opera format, though not as bombastic as The Theory of Everything. Their sound comes across a bit like a cross between Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree, though they tend to trend a bit more melodic and even experimental with some of their instrumental segments. Been listening to this one a lot lately.
Favorite Song
* Visions - The album closer, a doozy at 22 minutes, but a fun and dynamic prog-rock epic
Other Awesome Albums by Haken
* Aquarius
* The Mountain
(They've only got the three!)
Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory - Dream Theater (1999) [Progressive Metal]
Category
- Concept Album, Rock Opera
Plot Synopsis
- A man undergoes regression therapy to discover the meaning behind his recurring dreams of a young girl's murder.
Description
- You might have actually heard of this one. Dream Theater is one of the most well-known contributors to the progressive metal genre. The group is composed of insanely skilled instrumentalists. Some of their music tends a bit to the heavier side of metal than I care for, but if you're like me, and you enjoy a great display of technical showmanship, you can't skip out on their music.
Favorite Song
* Scene Nine: Finally Free - A really great wrap-up to a really great album, drawing the story to a close and tying up loose ends
Other Awesome Albums by Dream Theater
* Images and Words
* Awake
(I should listen to more Dream Theater - I've really only heard the albums listed above. They've produced quite a few, though)
In Absentia - Porcupine Tree (2002) [Progressive Rock]
Category
- Loose Concept Album
Theme
- Songs about people who come unhinged.
Description
- Porcupine Tree took a little while to grow on me, but I wouldn't be without them now (which is a shame, because they're no longer a group =C ). In Absentia is probably one of their easier albums to get into. It has a bit of a heavier, more metal sound to it than their older albums, but a lot of quite hauntingly pretty melodic sections.
Favorite Song
* Trains - My first exposure to Porcupine Tree; still a favorite
Other Awesome Albums by Porcupine Tree
* The Incident
* Deadwing
(I hear their older stuff is great too. I have yet to delve into it in depth. Apparently it has a big Pink Floyd vibe)
Magnification - Yes (2000) [Progressive Rock]
Category
- Symphonic Rock
Description
- Yes is a powerhouse in the progressive rock world. They've released about 20 albums since the 1960s, and helped shape the entire genre in a major way. Most people have probably heard one or two of their songs on classic rock stations (I'm looking at you, Owner of a Lonely Heart). Magnification was a later release of theirs, largely overlooked, but utterly fantastic. The album has a more symphonic sound than most of their older output, but the blend of styles is seamless and wonderfully pleasing. This one has very little in common with the heavier sounds of the previous albums I listed, but it's totally worth checking out.
Favorite Song
* Spirit of Survival - This one seems to get a bad rap from reviewers on progarchives, but I quite like it. It's the first one I heard on the album, and enticed me to check the rest of it out. Maybe it'll do the same for you.
Other Awesome Albums by Yes (Dear god, there are so many)
* Close to the Edge
* The Yes Album
* Drama (for a very different sound, with a whole new singer!)
Rajaz - Camel (1999) [Progressive Rock]
Category
- Loose Concept Album
Theme
- Songs that evoke a sombre journey through a desert landscape
Description
- Camel is an interesting band from the 1970s that never got particularly popular. It's a shame, because they had a unique sound all their own, and the compositional and technical chops to back it up. Rajaz is a good album to relax to. It's smooth and somber and soulful. Andy Latimer's guitar work is somewhat evocative of Pink Floyd's, with strings that really sing out notes, full of emotion. This is a good album to zone out to while drawing.
Favorite Song
* Three Wishes - It was a toss-up between this and Lawrence. This one is a bit more energetic, and has a great taste of the really beautiful guitar work and overall tone at play throughout the album.
Other Awesome Albums by Camel
* Mirage
* Stationary Traveler
Alright, that's the end of my geeking out over progressive rock and metal albums that I've been listening to and loving this year. If you've never paid any attention to the genres, I urge you to give them a try. They aren't for everyone, and sometimes they take a bit of attention on the part of the listener, but I find this kind of music to be the most rewarding to just put on and absorb over the course of an hour or two.
And if you're the kind of person that doesn't listen to any particular kind of music outside of video games, you should also give it a shot. I got into progressive rock when I picked up on the similarities between ELP and various tracks from Final Fantasy while listening to the radio several years back. Seriously, some of the best videogame music out there has influences in classic progressive rock.
That's all, folks!
Edit
Because this is a furry site, here's a fun song by Camel about a fox: Fox Hill
Technically it's about a fox hunt, but *spoiler alert* they don't catch him.
* The Human Equation
* Aquarius
* The Mountain

My Weasyl Account
Posted 11 years agoHey guys,
In case you might want to know, I've had an account over on Weasyl.com for awhile now.
I just spent several hours tonight updating it to contain all the content on my FA page, plus some extra scraps I don't have posted here.
I also painstakingly went through all my TF sequences, put them in their own folders and adding First | Prev | Next | Final links, as well as skip-to links, on all of them, making them easier to view. I've done it for a few sequences on FA, but usually I'm too excited to get the content up to actually put them in.
So if you have any interest in Weasyl, and want to add me on there, I'll be trying to keep both accounts up to date. I find FA to have a slightly better browsing experience for content, but Weasyl allows better organization of folders for individual artists.

Observation
Posted 12 years agoMy last and only journal entry is 8 months old. Damn. So here's a random observation on the creation of adult artwork:
Despite your best efforts, when engaging in the process of creating pornography, you'll often find yourself surprised by the amount of time spent detailing mundane things like bed posts and street lamps. I'm fairly certain that, regardless of past experiences, this surprise will never get old.

YAML
Posted 13 years agoSo I just discovered YAML today. I gotta say, I'm a big fan. Never did like XML. Too much boilerplate, too little information conveyed. YAML seems like a great way to store some very basic text data for retrieval later. This excites me. In fact, I think all my submissions from now are going to be in YAML format.

... Okay, that was less exciting than I'd originally hoped. Maybe I'll stick to pictures.
And yes, I apologize for this entirely, massively inane journal entry. And it's my first one, too.
