Posted 3 months agoSuper big thanks to everyone who commissioned me this summer. The support means a lot and I had a lot of fun too. :D
Did you know I also make music? I have a Bandcamp at https://hexadoodle.bandcamp.com/ and today is Bandcamp Friday, where the site waives its revenue share and more goes to the artists! I have a few albums and singles that are free to listen.
And/or, check out the albums that I've supported here, they're great! https://bandcamp.com/dodecadoodle

Voooooooore?
Posted 4 months agoMost of you know I enjoy vore but don't post it much, for the sake of my generalish audience. And I don't really draw enough of it to justify making a separate account. But now that FA has tag blocking I feel a bit better about exploring some fun eaty ideas! I'm going to file it all under Mature rather than General, and I'll tag all of it with the vore tag so you can filter it out if you prefer.
DOES THIS MEAN VORE COMMISSIONS???
You can pitch an idea, there's no harm in it, but I'm going to be very selective about them. I still don't feel like I'm quite up to par with the general vore artist's level of detail, nor are my specific tastes the same. But let's talk about it! These and all other commissions are still open through the end of July 2025: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/60927604/

Mastodon wrapup 2024
Posted 10 months agoThriving over at https://socel.net/@hexadoodle ! Here's some stuff I wrote this year.
🎶 My sinuses are stuffed up tight
I know what'll make it right
su-s-su-s-sudafed 🎶
At 5 years old, my business plan was to take a Barney tape I didn’t want anymore, put it on a cardboard box by the side of the road, leave it there unattended, and wait for someone to take it and leave a dollar in its place.
Upholstery sounds like a crime. Guy wanted in seven states for libel, embezzlement, and upholstery
Just saw an ad that would have me believe that cottage cheese can be gamer fuel
*Join public game lobby*
*Immediately get kicked*
Always in a game which has the option of private/password locked rooms. Why do people do this
🎶 Bash says permission denied
Looks like I have to override
Su-s-s-su-su-sudo 🎶
I'll know I've made it as a creator if I can get people to respond with nothing but the word "Damn."
They packaged this baby spinach like people were trying to steal a little of it. It bit me and I’m bleeding.
When you put down new grass, you can lift it up like a rug and sweep dirt underneath it, just like in the cartoons
We tried to make baked brie at our last family dinner but left it in the oven way too long. We dubbed the result “french queso”
Okay, now kick that sink out, it’s overstayed its welcome.
Around 2000, I was visiting relatives. They had a computer with a cool game on it that I wanted to bring home, so I asked my aunt if we could go buy about 50 floppy disks.
On an earlier trip, I tried taking home, from the same place in the same manner, a powerpoint presentation I made there about a different video game. It didn't make it home because of either
-airport scanners
-physical jostling
-a magnet in something I owned, because I packed my entire room into a duffel bag on trips
But like... a powerpoint presentation. That's the data 12yo me wanted to preserve? Who was I planning to show it to?
Around that time I remember thinking, Pokemon on the GBC is so fun but there's not enough people to play it with, how cool would it be to play it remotely with people around the world over the internet or something like it, or even a handheld version of the N64... nah, none of that will happen for another hundred years probably.
Today: Oh cool, another ai toy website *bookmarks it and never visits it*
Real actual commercial just now: if your depression meds cause this new condition, take this new medication for it! Side effects: depression and worse
Yknow, I love that Mastodon is a platform where I can take RISKS. I appreciate all the responses to this post and the different perspectives they've given me. I'm glad I can do that and not be called an idiot and driven off the platform.
Hello, one buyer’s remorse please
Apple TV: Look at all these shows we don't have!
Child at store: goo goo ga ga
Me: you can’t just spout cliches, kid. Get some material
So did anyone else think that the Salem Witch Trials took place in Oregon?
...Oh, found a generated-text website that seems to think so too.
Artfight? I prefer to artgetalong
Shirts with 90's cartoon characters are widely available now and I'm seeing them everywhere, and I don't know everyone's story so I won't try to gatekeep. People can wear whatever.
But, dude I saw today wearing a shirt with just Catdog on it, I was doing that waaaay before you were, and I guarantee it didn't screw up your brain like it did mine
All I want is to play a game literally all day with no adverse health effects whatsoever, is that so unreasonable
Hello, my name is Gestures Broadly
"Ready-made fursona" is an animal which, after anthropomorphism, needs no further design work. Examples include:
-Axolotl
-Capybara
-Orca
-Secretary Bird
(Incidentally the first two feel like they've exploded in popularity. I remember when they were obscure and sounded made-up.)
All you ever need to know about me is that in 6th grade I lost my TI graphing calculator and offered a 50 dollar reward for whoever could find it.
(A teacher found it and didn’t ask for the reward.)
I mean, you can’t put a price on the working Snake game I coded entirely in TI basic language.
(Long gone now due to random memory clear)
Descartes says “I think not…”
…but does not vanish, because Descartes understands the fallacy of the inverse.
Descartes probably wishes he could stop thinking so much.
Oh hey, it's another emailed receipt from some store I didn't go to because that older woman in another state whose email address is a letter off from mine, entered mine again.
Funniest dream I can remember in recent years was when I was selected to be one of five people to play a broadcasted game of Tetris against Putin. It became very clear that the game was rigged in his favor, as my screen immediately avalanched. Fortunately not much was at stake, mostly ego.
In a flood of tech fads, it’s always interesting which ones stick. They’re never what I expect.
QR codes seemed to go from “cool” to “ubiquitous, despised and annoying” to “standard and a great study in error correction”.
When robot vacuums first arrived I thought, what a dumb expensive novelty for people too lazy to vacuum (and let’s be honest, I’m one of those people). 20 years later they’re still around in force.
I think a bug flew up my nose.
Hello! You're receiving this email because we are updating the terms and conditions of a thing you never signed up for
Recipe with 12 ingredients? uuuuugh too much work
Recipe with 5 ingredients? ooh I could do that, and I bet it would be even better with these 7 other things in it
Mom misplaced glasses. Aunt: “Let’s call them”
My pants size is 36x32. That is, 36 rows by 32 columns of legs
“We have trained [humans] to think of the Future as a promised land which favoured heroes attain—not as something which everyone reaches at the rate of sixty minutes an hour, whatever he does, whoever he is.”
-Screwtape to Wormwood, and also me to people weaving at 76mph through 40mph traffic
I eat way too flippin fast. I need my meals served in one of those dog bowls with the grooves in it to slow me down
I’m a paperclip maximizer, except I turn them into little checkmarks
My favorite book of the Bible growing up was Weights And Measures.
"What, not Numbers?"
Nope, Numbers had too many words in it.
Office hack: scan a document as 1-sided, print it as 2-sided, and repeat to get infinite paper
All my internal debates lately seem to boil down to:
“No, you can’t {insert any (usually selfish) behavior}”
“BUT EVERYONE ELSE GETS TO!!!”
I learned from quesadillawizard that box mac n cheese can be made without milk, and now I’m pretty much unstoppable
I’ve lived around retirees for most of my independent life and I tend to become their free tech support by virtue of being not retired. It has its benefits though.
My main customer is a kind old lady and usually I fix her issue in a few minutes and she’s so grateful that she offers to buy me dinner.
The hunt was successful today. (What I call grocery shopping)
If your bumper sticker has so many words that I have to tailgate to read it...
...you know what, good on you. I generally have more respect for opinions that can’t be reduced to five or so words.
I’ve had enough of these new gnomes. You know the ones.
Seems like every time I hear about boxing weight classes, they’ve invented a new one. I’m waiting one day to hear about the donutweight division.
This thing I found on the internet has been selected for preservation in the national library of my hard drive for being culturally, historically or aesthetically significant
This year I have learned that I can learn anything.

What game is that from?
Posted 10 months agoIt's the title of my new album that I worked on last month: https://hexadoodle.bandcamp.com/alb.....e-is-that-from
It's free to listen, and TODAY, Bandcamp Friday, is the best day to buy it and all my other releases! If you happen to still do the "saving things to your local hard drive" thing.
I'm curious to know which games they remind you of. In tracks 4,6,8 I didn't have any specific game in mind, but I did for the rest. They're mostly PC games from around Y2K.
I'm also curious, what would you tag this music? All I've got is "electronic". Genres are ridiculous to try and follow anymore.

This November's project is...
Posted 12 months agoI first participated spur-of-the-moment in National Novel Writing Month in 2008. The following year I wrote with locals and it was magical, and it became a yearly tradition for me, because there's nothing I love more than a dumb achievement that I can brag about fulfilling. The last time I completed it was in 2020. By then, the forum community was super toxic, just about all the locals had moved away, and I was sick of writing period. If Nanowrimo is about "exuberant imperfection", being comfortable with making mistakes, then hooboy, the site has made some MISTAKES in recent years.
But it's been a lifelong struggle of mine to be okay with mistakes. I'm only just now learning to not be a perfectionist, to not give up at the first sign of difficulty. For all the awfulness it's become, early Nanowrimo really helped me get out of that funk.
So although I'm not participating anymore, November is still when I love to do a monthlong project with a final product I can show off. In 2021 I made 30 songs in 30 days. In 2022, a toon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiK5RzRueSY. I don't think I did much in 2023, and I'm in danger of repeating this in 2024. My fingers will mutiny if I keep playing Satisfactory every free moment.
Therefore my goal is to finish an album! I will post this journal (done!) and stream music making on and off this month to hopefully get myself motivated, and put the results up on Bandcamp.

Bloosky
Posted a year agoI got one but it's just for following others, no posts. Same name as here.
I'm not as paranoid as I used to be about old Twitter, but I also don't miss it. My guess is that Bluesky is going to turn into that due to being centralized and run by the same people.
☝️🤓 Have you considered -- you guessed it -- Mastodon? Follow me at https://socel.net/@hexadoodle for such gems as:

Posted a year agoWill take early August to finish the current queue. Big thanks to everyone for your support! It's always appreciated in the summer months.
One week left for commissions! No ideas? No problem!
Posted a year agoThe #1 commission obstacle I hear about lately is lack of ideas. Don't worry! I love artistic freedom. If all you have is a character and some interests, I can sketch up some brainstorms and hopefully come up with something you enjoy.

What do you wish I would draw more of?
Posted a year agoThis isn't requests, no guarantees, but I am curious if there was something I drew only once that you want to see explored more, or something I haven't drawn but still has my energy. Always nice to have some ideas to play with if I'm stuck in a rut. DMs are okay too if you're shy.
Favorite dumb things I said on mastodon in 2023
Posted a year agohttps://socel.net/@hexadoodle
If you are an argument whose premises imply its conclusion: you are valid
Sponge Bob... Is that like Boy George
History, or as the kids call it, IRL Lore
One time a jeopardy question asked for the two feuding families in Romeo and Juliet, and all that came to mind was “The Capulets and the Romulans”
Neither I, the stove, the microwave, or the clock radio want it to be an hour later. The phone and computer are the only ones insisting on it. There’s a culture war in my house now.
Bands: You get ONE song to sing about your band, and ONE song to sing about your genre. After that, you'd better have some subject matter.
There's too much content. Everyone needs to stop making content until I can get caught up.
You’d think *I* would have been the first to use the tag #chickenizedreversecentaurs
I just tried to pinch-zoom on a physical book. I'm finished, put me in a boomer comic.
Book I’m reading makes passing mention of a four-armed alien and I get a burst of joy but I’m also mad they’re not the main character >:(
Top story tonight: Two birds found dead by the bush. Forensics determined the same weapon was used on both, a single stone, suspected to be the same one used to vandalize a glass house last week.
Ok so it turns out that news article was a hoax, but the fact that I believed it just goes to show how crazy reality has become and NOT how gullible I am
When two people are intensely debating something you know nothing about:
"Bunny is a rider" by Caroline Polachek
"Bunny ain't no kind of rider" by Of Montreal
I’ve been using all the machines at the gym lately and getting a good routine, but my legs were never as sore as the day after I was squatting to interact in vrchat
From now on I’m pronouncing Machamp the same way as Duchamp. Only problem is that it sounds a bit too much like Marshtomp.
Update: It turns out Machamp is actually Scottish and should be spelled and pronounced MacHamp
Conclusion: https://socel.net/@hexadoodle/111281048356423634
I love when speech bubbles contain only pictures.
Ever make pasta and go “mmmm, that’s some good steel cut durum wheat semolina”
A student probably meant to wish me a nice day but said in an email “May you have a nice dream” which is honestly much better
Speedrunning a fresh OS installation
Me at 5 years old: *Memorizes the powers of 2 up to 2^20*
Me at 35 years old: *Didn't know the fine details of rice harvesting, but imagined it was more or less just scooped out of the ground in its white pill form*

Hex why do you only take comms in summer
Posted 2 years agoWell I WAS waiting for the entire internet to not be on fire to post this journal, so that I wouldn't get lost in the noise, but eh. I'm still here and my hangouts remain the same: https://linktr.ee/hexadoodle
Anyway, I love my job but I don't get as many hours in summertime, which puts me just barely on the wrong side of my budget. I can survive without commissions so don't think of this as an emergency, but I deeply appreciate the support and getting to make people happy with my dumb mutant animal drawings.
My queue is currently empty, and I'm planning to remain open until the end of July. Full info can be found here! https://www.furaffinity.net/view/52157445/

Posted 2 years agoSo hey, I just crossed 1000 followers. :O
This is a good fandom. 12 or so years ago I was nervous as heck to join, but it fills me with so much joy to have a space where I can be endlessly weird. I appreciate all of you. Thanks for welcoming and keeping me around, thanks for all the favorites and comments (I read every one), thanks to everyone who drew the frog and the frog's favorite things, thanks to everyone who supported me through commissions, and thanks for being some of the best friends I’ve ever had. <3
