RIP In Peace Computer
Posted 2 years agoHey there! It's kind of crazy how I never make a journal unless it's for streaming or commission openings, lol.
If you haven't kept with my Twitter lately, to make a long story short (as best as I can), the computer I've been using to do my art on for over 7 years finally jumped into it's grave. I'm still not even sure what happened.
There was a Windows Update that needed to be installed and like several times before I clicked the "Update and Shut Down" task.
I didn't touch it until the next afternoon and when I tried to boot it up the display would turn on but it wouldn't go through the cycle of actually starting itself up.
So yeah, that REALLY SUCKS. And you know what else sucks? I never backed up my files.
A lesson I keep learning over and over again but still never listening!
I dropped it off to a repair shop this past Friday so I'm still waiting on his diagnostic and price to fix.
He said there's a high chance he could save my hard drive and files but we'll see.
I'm not holding my breath too much. ):
On the upside, I managed to get my tablet to work on a spare laptop I was gifted for my birthday last year.
I tried to install my tablet two times before on there with no luck since the drivers are too old and aren't compatible with Windows 11.
After wiping everything related to Wacom and re-installing it, it worked!
The downside? The display is god awful and hurts my eyes. T_T
Everything is extremely bright with no saturation (weird) and there's basically a blue light/tint to everything.
I tried doodling something and my eyes were strained the entire time to the point I now have a small headache.
I did the display calibration twice and each time I could never find something that suited how the colors of my art are supposed to be.
My art isn't blue and pale, Mio is not lighter Tinky Winky.
I just received advice from a friend so I'll try what he recommended.
Gahh, man, if Paint Tool Sai 1 worked on MacOS, I would've moved strictly to Apple if I'm being honest. ;_;
A bit of a crime, but I almost never have issues with it.
I SHOULD finally grow out of SAI and move on to CSP or something but, if I'm being honest I'm scared my art quality will decrease due to lack of knowledge using the program.
Besides all this happening at the worst time for me, that's the biggest thing that's happened that truly left me mentally and emotionally drained.
A whole lot of thinking will be done with week.
Might have to get a cheap second monitor that doesn't burn my retnas.

EDIT 5/24: I'm truly in debt to all of you guys. ;o; The goal was hit was just in a few hours thanks to all of your help. My mother and I can sleep well for the next couple weeks knowing we'll still have a roof over our heads. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.

Rent is coming up on the 1st of June and we don't have enough to pay it all in full.
Normally we're always able to scrounge up enough to get by but we were really low on money all this month after my mom left her job. She won't be able to start her new one until later on this week. The little money we did have was used for food and bills.
I would take on more commissions but I've already took emergency ones a week ago and those in the queue have not been started on yet. I feel it would be very irresponsible to take on a bigger amount than I can.

Patreon and Commissions
Posted 3 years agoHope you all are doing alright during these times, this year has been a rollercoaster so far and it's only March.
There's a couple things I want to talk about regarding the future of how things will be going for me. The sum of money I was living semi-comfortably on is running out and with my family getting back in the job market after Covid firings, I think it's really time I start putting out some more money as well to make bills and rent less of a hassle for us.
► PATREON SECTION ◀︎
For the last few months I've been off and on debating on starting a Patreon to aid in flowing more income to my household. Art is the only job I feel I can do currently because of a personal matter, so this is the next step up from commissions. Getting a monthly income would help drastically.
Will anything change when I open a Patreon Account?
Nope. I'll still be posting how I've always have. Commission openings will still be the same as well!
But with giving support, you'll get bonus features such as high-resolution versions of stuff and WIPs, stuff I normally keep to myself or with the commissioner. In addition, there will be patron-only livestreams here and there, but public/regular streams will still be a thing too.
The main goal out of doing this is generating more income to live with less stress and worry whether one day our lights/electricity will turn off and being able to feed ourselves.
I'll possibly be launching it once I finish this last private commission within the next few days.

I'll be opening them again probably next week. *I don't have a specific day or time set.*
Furthermore, I'll be collecting slots differently from the previous way, which was first come first serve (whoever messaged me first, or filled in the Google form first got the slot).
To make things easier for you guys AND myself, I'll be picking and choosing which ones I'd personally like to do. I've seen a few artist do this and with the feedback I got with how unfair the previous one was, I'll change it to this way and see how it goes.
How It'll Go: I'll open a Google Form up for a day or two, that way everyone will have time to send in an idea (one idea per person). After the two days are up, I'll close the form and pick out which ones I'd like to do. If you get contacted, you got the slot.
No rush or no set time limit.
I'll also be taking a bigger batch of slots, which does mean:
1. A longer wait time for your commission to be started on depending on where you are in the queue.
2. Commission openings will probably be every couple months (estimating 3 or 4).
Aaaaand, I think that's it! Let me know what you think of the new commission method.

About Commissions (Will Open in Late September)

For the last month or two I've been frequently getting asked more and more when I'll be opening commissions. It's pretty much every other day at this point. I honestly have no solid date yet but I'm aiming for Late-September this time.
I apologize sincerely for the long wait. I know my last opening was in March.
I took on more slots for the waitlist and it was may more than I could handle. It was a bit over 20 commissions in total actually. @_@ I knew taking on more slots would give more commissioners a chance to get art but I didn't expect it to take several months to complete. I greatly overestimated my abilities and again, I'm sorry.
As of right now I'm completing the last 2-3 commissions in my queue. I would've been planning to open in the next 2 weeks but I am going on a trip in the middle of September for a couple days. So with (HOPEFULLY) one final pushback, I will open commissions after I return from my vacation.
Before I open them officially I WILL make an announcement a couple of days before hand!
I will be going back to taking ONLY 5-6 slots at a time, no waitlist anymore. That way I can open up once a month and not every 3+ months.
Again, I am really sorry for long wait. Thank you all for your patience. ★
