Posted 11 months agoI just don't get how so many people could vote for pure hate. It just doesn't make sense to me.
Things are gonna get a lot worse before they get better. But the light will shine through the clouds again one day. Just please don't give up.

Posted a year agoquick update
Posted a year agoI haven't been feeling great, plus life just keeps throwing new stuff at me I have to deal with. Haven't had a ton of time to draw/write. I have been prioritizing outlining a story, I've had a ton of lore in my head for a long time, and I want to get it down while it's still coming to me.
On my protracted absence
Posted a year agoI mentioned in the last couple journals I was going through somewhat of a slump (if that wasn't obvious). On top of just generally not feeling it, I had some pretty big stuff go down in my life a few weeks ago that really just knocked me out. The trip I went on last week did help a little bit. I went up to Portland and Seattle, which was fun.
Anyhow, I did end up drawing a little bit. But by "drawing", I mean I would add 3 or 4 lines, spend 2 hours procrastinating, then add 3 or 4 more lines. I ended up scrapping and redrawing more things then I care to admit. I posted a few WIPs on my bluesky if you wanna check them out. Ultimately, sometimes you just have to push through and finish something, or you can get trapped in a cycle of redrawing and redrawing.
I'm feeling a lot better now, and hope to post new stuff this coming week (for real this time!!).
<3
PS: if anyone has any ideas for stuff they want me to try and doodle, I'd love to hear them!

trip
Posted a year agoHey all, I'm leaving on a trip tomorrow, will be back the 8th. I hope to post something later today, but we'll see.
I'm hoping this trip will help me get out of the slump I've been in, and I hope once I get back I can get back to uploading semi-regularly.

In the works
Posted a year agoI think I posted on here somewhere that I haven't exactly been in the best mood the last few weeks. I've still been drawing most days, mainly little doodles that aren't even worth posting here. I am working on a couple bigger things I want to post sometime this week. I've been working on a little outline for a little story I wanna write too. I'm hoping it could kinda flesh out my sci-fi universe concept. I have a ton of ideas in my head, but just haven't gotten around to putting them in one place.

rambling about art
Posted a year agoSo, I've been kind of losing steam these last few days/weeks. I try to draw a little bit everyday, even just a few doodles. And I have for the last few months, I've been able to hit that goal. Being basically unemployed gives me a lot of free time. I've really been trying not to fall into the trap of "just drawing" though. That's common advice for beginners, but it's a little flawed imo. Basically, I've found, if you "just draw!" you'll become complacent. You really have to be drawing something, you really should be focusing on trying new things, new techniques, new subject matters, anything. To improve you have to be able to recognize your flaws and implement fixes. I personally have been very susceptible to drawing the same thing over and over again, not really improving or even trying to improve because, "it's already good! why change it?" My old deathclaw drawings are good examples of this. I wasn't trying anything new, just drawing the same head and the same body over and over again. It wasn't until I stepped out of my comfort zone that I actually started making any meaningful progress.
I feel like I've made progress since I (re)started about six months ago. The interesting thing is that, like life, you don't really notice the change until you look back. Day to day, nothing much changes. You can be really proud of a drawing, think it's your best, and look back a month later and see everything you did wrong. I like to look back at my old sketchbooks from waayyyy back in the day (2020-21), when I really first took my art seriously. Every kid goes through a drawing phase, some stick with it, some don't. I fell into the latter category. I tried to draw something, and when it didn't turn out the way I wanted, I would get really frustrated and "quit" art for good. It wasn't until later when I thought: "Ok, I'm gonna do this, I want to get good!" I made some decent-ish progress. My drawings went from looking like a 4th grader drew them, to a moderately talented 5th grader (keep in mind that I was in high school at that point). I even upgraded to an iPad which I used for quite a while. If you really want to see those, you can try to find my DeviantArt, similar name as on here. Anyway, I eventually just... lost interest. In around October of last year, I decided I wanted to take another crack at it. I bought the cheapest wacom tablet on amazon, and got to work. I think you all know the rest.
Ultimately, you're your own biggest critic. That's definitely true for me. Though I've realized that not everything you draw has to be a masterpiece. Somebody said: "You gotta make bad art to make good art." You take what you think made it bad and work on those things. If a sketch isn't goin your way, just finish it up. Study it, figure out what to improve, and work on those things, draw with a purpose.

expressing my gratitude
Posted a year agoI know I just made a journal a few days ago about my watchers but... I've gained 4 since then! I feel so incredibly flattered that many people care enough about my art to hit that little button. I wanna thank my biggest cheerleaders (you know who you are ;>) for giving me the motivation I need when I'm not feeling so good about my progress.
Seriously, every one of you are the reason I keep doing this. Thank you, I love you all.

20(1) watchers
Posted a year agoIt's not many in the grand scheme of things, but it's cool to know I have enough "fans" to fill a small bus or maybe a really big van. Thanks to all of you!! When's the highjumpr convention? <3
BABScon!!
Posted a year agoI'm going to BABScon this year and I'm pretty excited. I'm not exactly a brony, but I'll be there with a friend who is. I missed out on Furcon and this is the next best thing close by.

Low on idearinos
Posted 2 years agoI know I've been drawing too many deathclaws lately. I just love them. I'm trying to think of some new stuff, but still, be ready for more deafclaws.
Sorry!
Posted 2 years agoI noticed tram68 said no shouts on their page right after I left one. That'll teach me to read. If you're reading this, I'm so sorry!!!! Edit: realized I also thanked them for a fav when they watched me. That'll DOUBLY teach me to read next time.
Discord
Posted 2 years agoHey all, I just put my discord in my bio in case anyone wants to add me. Just don't be (super) weird. I also briefly thinking about making a twitter yesterday, probably won't end up doing that though. It would be cool to get my art out there, but let's just say I don't personally agree with the current owner on too many things.
Update
Posted 2 years agoWell, I've had a lot more time to draw lately. I've been sick. Yeah, with my foot and now this, it hasn't really been my month. Oh well. I really like drawing that deathclaw character, I think she's really cute. I'll have to come up with a name for her. I haven't forgotten about that cow character either, I want to do some more stuff with her. I want to draw more stuff and I'm chronically low on ideas so if anyone has anything they want me to try, just leave a comment or send me a note. I don't bite.
More Thoughts
Posted 2 years agoWow it's been a while. Yeah, I'm back. I've been drawing this whole time, not as much as I could be, but I'm drawing. A lot has happened. I broke my foot a few weeks ago, so that's been fun. I've met some people. I want to keep drawing but I haven't had much time lately.
To be honest, I forgot I even had this account for a while. Haha. Anyway, I think I need something to drink.

Thoughts
Posted 2 years agoI wonder if anyone reads these. Today I got my first comment. Someone I just watched. In fact, the only person I watch as of right now. Sibera-the-Wanderer, they do some good stuff. I'm sure they don't need my endorsement though. Oh well. Anyway, my neck has been absolutely killing me all day. I think I must have slept on it funny because when I woke up it HURT. Typically stuff like that fades over the day, but today it was just relentless. Eventually I took an 800mg ibuprofen and that seemed to help but it's still stiff. I'll be more careful how I sleep on it from now on. Enough about that though. I also got a friend to pay me a dollar to draw him something. Does that count as a commission? If so, it's my first one. Yay. I don't think I would feel comfortable charging anyone anything for my art until I'm a whole lot better. I mean, I certainly wouldn't turn down any cash-4-art. I could use a new pair of shoes.
First Journal
Posted 2 years agoThis is gonna be my first post on here (hopefully obvious from the title). If anyone recognizes my name, wow. Just wow. Maybe that one guy who followed my DeviantArt is here now. Oh well. I think my art has improved since then, at least a little bit. I'm still drawing birds mostly. I've got a pretty decent backlog of stuff I want to post on here eventually. Maybe I'll get around to doing that. I took a pretty long break from art (around a year) so I'm a little rusty. Can't be too out of practice if I didn't really practice much in the first place.
If anyone has anything they want me to try and draw, I'm pretty short on original ideas. That is if anyone reads this. I can draw birds and deer specifically. But I'll take a crack at anything, no guarantees it will be very good though.
