Just theory, and possibilities...
Posted 11 years agoThat is all we have when it comes to the unknown and the unknowable. Something that I have brought up with friends, family, and random strangers that would listen to a random person's thoughts. If you care to read my thoughts, please keep reading.
**Warning**
**I will be talking about a subject that involves religious views and scientific views. Not everyone wants to hear what others say when it involves such topics. Now that you have been told. I shall continue.**
**Warning**
First of all I would like to establish my views about what evolution is, and what it involves. I have heard a few people's idea of what evolution is supposed to mean. The thought that one creature can give birth to something entirely different is not logical, and not possible in nature. What is possible is the small mutations that can lead to small changes in the offspring. These mutations can benefit the organism, provide no benefit but not hinder the survivability of the organism, or hinder the survivability of the organism. An example that could be considered in regards to the proposed evolution of the human race could be something involving the legs of a monkey.
Take this scenario into consideration as just an example and not truth.
A monkey has a good ability to use it's arms and legs in the process of climbing and gathering food as well as to defend itself to a degree. This monkey has a baby who has a mutation in it's legs that resulted in the development in more muscle than normal. It can still do what the other monkeys can do, but it can also stand on it's hind legs longer than the others allowing it to look more intimidating to the group. It even has the ability to it's arms to carry things like food without needing to use it's arms to get around on the forest floor. These kinds of things might make this monkey more appealing to have children. Another monkey could have had a mutation that resulted in the loss of some movement in it's foot thumbs, but without other features this mutation becomes hindering to the survivability of the creature.
Now with that said I would like to touch on the other part of my thoughts. Of course I am not the only person to have had these thoughts, but I wanted to know what other's think.
Say that we were created by a higher being. Whether it was the God that a lot of religions believe, or not. We were created. This being also created the wold and universe we live in. If it was how it is written, then we were created as a man and woman. Man and Woman instead of babies, or even children. We were created with age. The stars in the sky were also created old so that their light was already reaching us. This would mean that all of the light was created in the path to it's destination from the beginning.
Now if we could be created old, and the universe could be created to be old... could that not mean that a pre-written history couldn't have been created as well? Scientists look at the world and see a history, and they try to peace it all together. Sometimes there are things that don't fit with the picture that they thought to be true and such information is often locked away for undetermined amounts of time. Sometimes new information opens up other possibilities that create other details of the story that make more sense.
Finally, if we were created, and a history was pre-written when we were created, then the the improbable chance that we could become was already determined by the higher power. How unlikely the chance that we would become what we are was already determined to happen. This then allows evolution to be part of our pre-written history. This also allows it to become part of our future. Currently there are people who are observing changes in various species to see if it could be true.
Two examples that I have seen used that are more recent examples of evolution involve birds who live on a bridge that we created, and elephants who have been getting killed by poachers. The birds on the bridge have had their wingspan change because the birds with the shower wing span have been able to dodge the vehicles on the bridge easier allowing them to survive and multiply while the birds with the longer wings have a harder time surviving in that environment. It is still an environment even though it was created by man. Nature tries to live in places that have opportunity for life to live, and so it adapts to what we do to it. Sometimes for the better and sometimes what could be looked at as dangerous for our own survival. As for the elephants, they have learned to reject the elephants with longer tusks and prefer the elephants with shorter tusks. This is because the elephants with larger tusks are killed while the elephants with shorter tusks are left alone more-so until they are the ones with the longest tusks. In both of these cases the kinds of mutations are as simple as the size of a body part. A gene that determines the length of the wings, or the size of the tusks, changed just a little in the offspring which turned out to be beneficial for the survivability of the creature.
In these creatures, it is thought that the changes that we are seeing are happening quicker because of the changes we are making in the environment around them is pressing down on them harder than they have been exposed to with their normal predators and environments they live in.
If you wish to ask me to expand on anything I have said here, please leave a comment. I might make a few updates, or add an extra note at the bottom of this journal if any common questions or whatnot comes up... not that I expect to receive many replies. xP
Thank you for taking your time to read one of my journals, have a great day!

Posted 12 years agoYour result for The LONG Scientific Personality Test ...
ENFJ- The Teacher
You scored 55% I to E, 42% N to S, 19% F to T, and 37% J to P!
Your type is known as the teacher, or the educating mentor. You also belong to the larger group, called idealists. You tend to bring out the best in other people. You lead without seeming to do so. People are naturally drawn to you. You expect the very best from people which takes the form of enthusiastic encouragement which is so charming that people try their best not to disappoint you. You share your personality type with 3% of the population.
You need to feel a deep and meaningful connection to your romantic partners, and go to great lengths to understand and please your mate. Harmony is vitally important to you, and you often put others' needs before your own. You have a pretty thin skin and are easily hurt. Although you strive for harmony, when your values or ethics are violated, you can be very emotional, confrontational, and even punishing. However, you are very insightful about the underlying cause of conflicts, and an excellent communicator, so you have the tools to bring about a quick and peaceful resolution as long as you can keep control of your facilities. You want to be appreciated for your thoughtfulness and compassion. You need your partner to make a real effort to get to know you. Above all, you need to be able to express your feelings and have them taken seriously.

Don't Ask Don't Tell has been removed
Posted 15 years agoOk, I don't know how many people have made journals regarding this, but I'm making one anyways... O_O
The don't ask don't tell is finally gone! HOWEVER, regardless of it being removed it'll take some time before the military fully incorporates it. As said during the signing of the law, " Now, the old policy remains in effect until Secretary Gates, Admiral Mullen and I certify the military’s readiness to implement the repeal.".
Now all there really is in regards to gay couples is the privileges that gay couples would get compared to straight couples.

When you don't know anyone around you
Posted 15 years agoI recently was sent to South Korea. So far I like it hear as far as how nice the locals are, and how nice the surroundings are that I have seen. The traffic may be a little too much for me for the time being, but if I can master driving around here (when I'm allowed to drive here) I think I'll be able to drive anywhere in the US. x3
Anyways, despite all of this I've found myself unable to really get to know anyone really. I've run into a group already that I can see that I don't want to hang around much if at all. I'm slowly getting to know some of the soldiers I'll be working with... It just seems so hard for some reason. I'm noticing something about myself that I didn't really think was as bad as it really is. I have a hard time getting to know new people. I tend to just stick to a small group of friends that I can trust rather than making new friends. For now I'm pretty much forced to try and make new friends if I don't want to be a "barracks rat", or go places on my own. I plan on learning Korean, so I'll have an easier time talking to the locals. For now I have other things I have to be doing though, so it will be a while before I can say too much in Korean.
Being told that I should expand my social network is something that I have always needed to do, but didn't pursue because I didn't want to risk certain things. I see now that I need to be more active in meeting new people so that I can minimize the time that I feel left out, and alone. Doing this will potentially increase my chances of finding someone I can connect with on a deeper level. Eventually finding a mate in the long run.

Last month before my life starts a new road.
Posted 15 years agoThis is the last month I'll be home with my parents without money of my own, and a body that is in shape. Actualy, less than a month... 21 more days. I'm shipping out to another state halfway across the US to start my basic training for the Army for 9 weeks, and then later my advanced individual training for a grand total of about 6 months. After that everything is unclear for the most part. I don't know if I'll be going anywhere spacific right away or if I'll be able to come back home and go to PT at the local base to do pt every so often.
At first I was excited to be going for several reasons. First, I am going to be working on computers, something I like quite a bit. Second, this is going to be my first real job, and it's going to pay quite well for a single guy (by the way... a lil update about this part down at the bottom). Finaly, I'm going to be able to things with my life rather than be a bum at my partents house living in their basement... that is if they ever were to have a basement, but you get the idea. Anyways, now I'm getting to be a little nervous for no real reason I can think of.Well... it could just be that I'm anxious about it all. I've been having dreams that are leasing increasingly twords army things. This morning I started resighting the army ABCs; Alpha Bravo Charly.. All in all though... I'm trying to not loose my head at all.
PS: Anout the girl I was dating a while ago I was talking about in my last journal... she and I broke up because we were both unhappy. Me because she couldn't be happy, and her because she wants to have me close more often, but couldn't. The distance was too much for her, and she went a lil crazy. I won't get into the details, but she got too much for me to handle. For now I plan on just making friends, and sticking to my work unless something comes up... but I'll deal with that when it comes.

Christmas & New Years
Posted 16 years agoA few weeks before Christmas I fall in love with a dear friend of mine whom I have known for a few years through thick and thin. She goes by the name Fae. The night before Christmas eve I get stuck with my sister at her friend's house. It's about 9:30pm when I get off the phone with my gf, and shortly after I run around the apartment building. Right after I round the corner I trip on the grass and fall breaking my hand (second metacarpal in my left hand). This is my first bone I've ever broken in my life so far. o,o Anyways I flew over here to AZ to stay with my gf on Christmas eve to spend Christmas with her. It wasn't filled with presents, but we had time with each other. ^-^ In a few days it will be New Years. We don't really have any plans for it other than possibly staying up to watch the fireworks. As far as my hand goes. I got it checked out again the other day... It looks like my bones moved a lil further apart. x_x The doc changed my splint for now. When I get home I'll have it checked out again, and I'll look into getting my x-rays from my first visit so I can show it off :P That's really it for now. I'm gonna get back to some other things I was planning to do on the computer before heading off for the night. :3 TTFN
PS: Exploring Arizona is fun! (It's been 10 years since I was last even in Arizona)
