Name 5 fast food restaurants you enjoy (must be a chain), explain why, and what your usual order there is.
1. Name: In-N-Out BurgerReason: Their burgers taste fantastic, they put spepper on their fries, I'm not bogged down trying to choose from a long constantly-changing menu, their employees actually know what they're doing, and they have a ''secret menu''.
Order: Two double-doubles with cheese and grilled onions, fries, and a vanilla shake to eat in the car. I ask for ketchup but hardly ever use it on the fries. Mostly because of the taste, but also 'cause I'm driving.
2. Name: Wendy'sReason: They have the best ketchup, square burgers taste really good, they have bacon on their burgers, and they have root beer!
Order: A large baconator combo with fries and root beer, a junior bacon cheeseburger, for here. Pumps six little cups of ketchup at the side bar.
3. Name: McDonald'sReason: They brainwashed me as a child, soggy greasy fries, and filet-o-fish!
Order: A chicken sandwich, a double cheeseburger, and a large number 11 (or whatever number the filet-o-fish meal is) to go. Can I have lots of ketchup? Can I have some more? No, more ketchup, please!
4. Name: Burger KingReason: They have the best breakfast fast food; otherwise I don't really like them because of their lousy fries and stupid employees who have never eaten the food there and have no idea of the difference between bacon and ham.
Order: A double croissanwich with ham and bacon. No. I know what I want. Please just listen to my order and don't try to order for me. I want a double croissanwich with ham and bacon. And I want another double croissanwich also with ham and bacon with a medium hash browns and coffee. That's for here. Yes, I'd like some cream. <gets 2 creamers> Can I have some more cream? <gets 2 more creamers> Yes, more cream please? <order arrives in a to go bag> Hey, I ordered ham and bacon on these croissanwiches, not sausage and ham. <sandwiches go back> <sandwiches return> No, I ordered ham and bacon on these croissanwiches, not double-ham! <points at receipt> <croissanwiches finally are made right> Could I get a lot of ketchup? <gets two packets> More ketchup, please? <gets two more> I need more ketchup!
5. Name: Arby'sReason: Horsey Sauce! And I used to work there so I know their dirty secrets!
Order: A Super with extra sauce, a Bacon Cheddar, two potatoe cakes, and a root beer. Everything but Super and root beer is eaten with Horsey Sauce!

Gay Marriages
Posted 17 years agoI stopped by the protest/counterprotest outside of City Hall today on the way home from work. The first legal gay marriage in the state had taken place inside about an hour and a half before.
Both sides had their signs - ''Recriminalize Sodomy'' and ''Ignorant Religious Zealot'' were the best from each side.
When I arrived, both sides were shouting at each other. The gays had a louder megaphone and much better chants. Half of the other side was chanted away and left.
Best line: ''Stop telling us what to do with our anuses...there is no god up there who cares what we do with our anuses!''
LMAO
Very quickly, the freezing cold and free Ben & Jerry's ice cream cooled things down to a debate. A lady dressed in a black and white cow suit with udders extolled the virtues of sodomy. This city sure knows how to do surreal...
The out-of-state religious protesters took down their signs and went home.
I went up to the guy holding the ''Ignorant Religious Zealot'' sign and complimented him on his costume - white baseball hat, yellow hoodie, blue jeans, white tennis shoes. He looked just like one of them out-of-state protestors, but then I would read his sign and realize he couldn't be!
I wonder if they are going to be back again tomorrow...

One Year of FurAffinity!
Posted 17 years agoWell, it's been a year since I joined FurAffinity.
And what a year it's been! It contained both the best and the worst moments of my entire life. But best of all, there's been a lot of change that has happened in my life since coming here.
A year ago, I was afraid to draw. Thanks to your support, I am now confident with drawing!
A year ago, I didn't know where I was headed. Now I have a direction, a main goal, and many other goals. The purpose I found to my life a year ago has born fruit. There were labour pains, and now I am waiting for it to ripen; but good things take time, and I have patience.
Thanks again to everyfur who has supported me in any little way - I really appreciate it!
And I look forward to many more FurAffinity Anniversaries!

Hippos & Crocs/Undercover Hippo
Posted 18 years agoHarmonious Hippos & Crocs/Undercover Hippo
Two fascinating short videos (after the obligatory commercial...):
Harmonious Hippos and Crocs:
Hippos go right up to feeding crocodiles, and start nuzzling them and biting their backs, etc. The crocs don't do anything about it.
Undercover Hippo:
Some crazy wildlife guy makes a kevlar hippo disguise so he can sneak right up to wild hippos and get their sweat, which is supposed to have sunscreen and antibiotic properties...

Wisdom From Grandmaster Tam II

at some point it won't be OK.
–Grandmaster Sam TamWisdom From Grandmaster Tam
Posted 18 years agoSome people know they know.
Some people know they don't know.
Some people don't know they know.
Some people don't know they don't know.
–Grandmaster Sam TamEver wonder what to call a group of animals?
Posted 18 years agoOur weird wonderful English language likes to express the plural of things with a singular noun in front of a plural word - these plural terms are called Terms of Venery.
Most of them were coined in the 15th Century to assist hunters in remembering either a characteristic trait of the animal, or sometimes the animal's habitat. Some are just fun-sounding onomatopoeia, and others are a personal opinion about the animal from whomever coined the term. And some resulted from errors.
The first list are terms that have appeared at some point in general usage, and the second list were made up quite recently (includes many animals not known in 15th Century England, and some terms I have made up). Once you read the ones in the second list, you'll get the general idea of how to make up your own appropriate terms of venery by following the above guidelines (characteristic trait, habitat, fun sounding, personal opinion...and puns). So start making your own, and let the English language continue to evolve! :-D
The lists are alphabetical by animal name; some animals appear in both lists, and for some animals that go by different names (e.g. Dog, Hound, Cur, Pup) there may be multiple entries.
All these terms appear in the most wonderful book "An Exaltation of Larks" by James Lipton from Penguin Books. It has many more terms of venery that apply to hoomans.
LIST #1 - Traditional Terms of Venery
