General | Posted 13 years agoI'm just not sure what to call this journal. I have lots to say....so, here goes:
First: I just want to thank everyone for the recent birthday wishes! Overall it was good. I wouldn't mind getting older if my body wouldn't act so old!!! :/
Next: I am so touched by the love given to me after I found out my dad's house. I have been talking to my dad's lawyer & we have petitioned the court to allow some money from the estate to be use to pay the back amount due. I have another appointment with the lawyer tomorrow. Hoping for the best.
Next: I'm still working some overtime, but nothing like I did in June. Only 5 to 10 extra hours a weeks. (Not 20 to 25 hours - which almost killed me) Which I'm gonna need soon. :)
Hmmmm.....I guess the next thing is to let everyone know that on top of the house issue, crazy work load, dealing with a teenager (NOT even going into that!!!), my brother had a mild stroke last Friday (the 13th). The doctor believes he will make a full recovery. His right arm has little to no strength/feeling. But the rest of him seems to be doing well. Like most people, my brother has made some stupid mistakes in his life, sadly, a number of his 'friends' have deserted him in his time of need. I am not one to turn my back on anyone...
Happy news now: Despite that I have saved for MegaPlex & then had to loan it all the my brother (the one mentioned above), I have managed to save enough again to go to MegaPlex. My funds will be much tighter now, but I'm still going to be there. I'm looking forward to seeing some old friends, new friends & meeting some online friends for the first time!! There are so many furs that I am looking forward to seeing!!! If I haven't met you yet & you're going to be at MegaPlex, that should change!!!! I will be wearing my normal Hawaiian shirt, bright colors!! And, yes, I will have some cookies to share. The only thing I can tell you for sure is that I will be watching JULIE BUNNY MUST DIE!! and I will be visiting/hugging everyone!!! Otherwise, nothing is set in stone. I'm thinking a game of CRANIUM with my furry friends would be a super way to spend some time (don't know if that will happen yet).

General | Posted 13 years agoI got a call from my dad's neighbor (she's lived there as long as I can remember) today, letting me know that there is a notice in the paper today that my dad's house is being sold on the county courthouse steps at the end of July. Oh yay.

General | Posted 13 years agoOk.....here it is, July 1st, 2012. In less than a month I will be having a blast at MegaPlex!!
I finally got myself, Trebonius & Bubbles registered and I've got a room booked for 2 nights (which I could afford because of 53 hours of overtime!!!)
I'm really excited!! I can't wait to see some old friends, meet some on-line friends in furson & meet brand-new furs!!
I'm sure I will have more to say later.

Since yesterday's journal.....
General | Posted 13 years agoI find this interesting & amusing.....Since my journal of yesterday (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3545070/ ), I have heard back from both artist.
The first one said that my badge had been mailed but returned to him "2 days ago". Which I have a hard time believing. Before I sent the note asking about it (again), on April 25th, 2012, he said it was "scanned & going in the post tomorrow". If he truly mailed it on April 26th, 2012, it seems odd, to me, that it returned to him "2 days ago" - which would've been June 8th, 2012. Not that it couldn't happen, but his creditability makes me doubtful. According to the note I received yesterday, he will "re-send it out today when I make a hit to the post". We'll see. I'll keep you posted.
As for the second one, I did get a reply from that artist also. There was an apology. Also letting me know about some shortness of supplies. My faith is slightly shaken here, but trying not to lose hope.
Lesson learned here: Not planning on buying any art from cons if I can't get a guaranty of delivery before end of con. (Some exception apply) I always try to pay in advance, going on good faith that the artist will follow through. :sigh: Guess I need to stop being so trusting.
Anyway, I'm done for now.

General | Posted 13 years agoI have 2 people that owe me commissions from cons. One is a badge from MFM (September 2011) & the other is a keychain from FWA (March 2012).
The person that I purchased the badge from has said MULTIPLE times that he will send it in the next mailings. He also has stated on his page that annoying or badgering him will only piss him off & your work will become a low priority commission. I have been patient & since September only 'reminded' 3 times. I'm getting frustrated.
The keychain that I purchased, was paid for the very 1st day of FWA. In fact, I may have been the first customer. Since FWA, I have sent one note in April (a couple of weeks after FWA), which I know was read, and have had no reply to. And sent one today (almost 3 months later).

My insane life as of late
General | Posted 13 years agoWell, first of, I've been working quite a bit. Which I'm really glad for. I'm planning on going to MegaPlex this year & somehow, I've got to make enough moneys for that.
Second (and the real reason I'm writing this) is I just need to rant. Bear with me while I try to explain....
As many of you know, I lost both my parents in 2011. My mom passed in March & my dad in December. The way they had things set up was: My oldest brother would get their house. My other brother would get stocks, bonds, cds, 401Ks, insurance policies & monies & would get the house I currently live in (it was my grandparents' house). So...everything goes into the pot (everything, that is that doesn't already have a beneficiary tied to it) & then is divided 3 ways. If someone's portion was higher, they have to make up the difference to the others. So, if the total value is $75,000 everyone gets $25K....but if the moneys only equal out to $10k, then my brother & I would have to make the difference. This (in theory) is fine, however, didn't know that in the will, my parents wanted to leave something for their grandkids. SO....THAT has to come off the top.
Long story short.....no matter how the math is done....I'm screwed! Both my brothers have something that they do not have to put in the pot. And both are nice amounts & would help. But even if they do......I still have to pay. I'm doing ALL the work, they're reaping all the benefits & now, instead of having my house free & clear (which is what my parents wanted), I'm gonna have to get a loan.

General | Posted 13 years agoI'm gonna try to write as much as possible while it's still fresh in my mind. (I'll edit & add icons later)
THURSDAY: Matsi-Wuff & I took off VERY early Thursday morning. We were making decent time, dealing with road construction & other traffic. Got about 1/2 mile from Alabama/Georgia line & traffic just stopped. Found out a semi had wrecked about a mile ahead of us & was on fire. We waited & waited & waited & waited & waited & waited a little more...then an SUV beside decided they were tired of waiting & their GPS had found an alternate route, Matsi asked if we could follow until our GPS had us going the right way again, he said yeah & we were finally off. SOOOO.....instead of getting there around 3:30ish/4....it was more like 6. NOT the best car trip ever. But, got my stuff in my room, got registered & wandered about for a bit before going back to the room & crashing! (I was pooped)
FRIDAY: Got up, wandered about & ran into IsfaCat. We were chatting about & around the corner came Gen & Uriel! I tried to stay calm, but I promise you I was "SQUEEEEEE"ing on the inside! (Greatest con moment #1) The crappy night before was washed from my mind as Gen turned to Uriel & said "Look honey, it's Hollie"! Of course, much hugging followed (I tried not to break Gen). They were in a bit of a hurry to get set up in the dealer's den. Shortly after that, I got a text message from WolfTeller. He was letting me know he was there. So Isfa & I went to find him. I'm looking around & hear, "That has to be a Hollie"! (Greatest con moment #2) More hugging!! After Teller got registered, we took his stuff to my room til his roommates arrived. Then we wandered, talked, visited Gen, met Matt Ebel. Which leads me to Greatest con moment #3...I asked Matsi to take a picture of me & Matt....Matt was trying to do the "hang loose" hand gesture, but ended up sticking his thumb up my nose! I thought I was going to DIE laughing!!!! So a second picture was taken...Matt's being all serious & I'm laughing my butt off!! After that, Teller & I talked, walked, picked up some art from P_Moss & had a good time. Limping Gnome, Charles Marker & Ryan White showed up around noontime (which was where Teller was staying). The rest of Friday was spent talking, walking, laughing, hovering around Gen's table & having a good time. Met TommiCat, Allonthe Cookie Dragon (which we did a cookie trade), RebelSquirel, Shane_LaFleur, and WolfWings. I also got a badge from Uriel!! For dinner Charles, Gnome, Ryan, Teller & I walked to a cafe. It was pretty good & didn't break the bank. After dinner, we got ready to see Matt Ebel's show. Had a great time! Matt said he only brought 30 CDs of his new album, I was fortunate to get #28!! After the concert everyone was pretty tired so "Good Night"s were said.
SATURDAY: Lots more of walking, talking, laughing, and having a great time!! Teller & I went back to the cafe for lunch. We were going to go to the Hard Rock Cafe, but the wait was longer than we wanted to wait. Back to the con & more hugging & loving on Gen. Trips around the artist alley & dealer's den. Watched the fursuit parade. Went back up to Gen's table & picked up Gnome, Charles & Shane. We were going to have dinner with Uriel, but it was going to be a while, so, we went down to the game board room & played "Oh Gnome You Don't". (Greatest con moment #4) The laughter that followed....Honestly, I'm amazed we actually got though the game!! Ryan joined us during the game & was kind enough to draw me!! OH....Greatest con moment #5...TonkaWolf called me!! He's home!!! We finished the game & met up with Uriel. (Greatest con moment #6) Went to the Mellow Mushroom for dinner. The pizza was pretty good. The walk there was...well, I'm glad I've been working out. After dinner, we walked back to con, dropped off food for Gen & went for ice cream. Another LOOOOOONG walk. It was great fun. And I didn't die!!
SUNDAY: Gnome, Charles & Ryan had to leave early. Lots of hugs & some sadness to see them go. Picked on Gen some more. Teller & I went back to the cafe for brunch & he got ready to head home also. I watched the talent show & Matsi won!!! (Greatest con moment #7) (Congrats buddy) Helped Gen tear down her table & SQUEEEEEEE!! Gen gave me her display rat!!! (Greatest con moment #8) Had dinner with Gen, Uriel & WolfWings at The Vortex! (Greatest con moment #9) It was lots of fun!! And I enjoyed it very much.
MONDAY: Had to leave. And after 13 & 1/2 hours of driving....HOME!!
I'm sure I have forgotten some things & I will edit as needed.

Details are very much in the air right now....but one of the biggest obstacles appears to be lack of a place to sleep. I'm willing to pay my share if I'm able to go. I'm not stupid, but I am a bit un-educated in this matter. Can someone tell me what that is exactly? What should or shouldn't I do about this?

General | Posted 14 years agoIn the last week so much has happened.
And before I go on, I just want to say....I wish I could give each & everyone a for-real-life hug!!! The words of encouragement, the cyber-hugs, the willingness to let me just type on & on about everything....Well, I'm touched & overwhelmed by the love!! Most of you, I only know by icons & words on a screen, but you could still feel the heartbreak I was going through & just offered moments of time for me. I can never say it enough times.....but, THANK YOU!! And, I hope to some day, get the real hug..
During the past week, I have spent more time with my brothers than the previous 10 or 12 years. It's a bit strange, but kinda nice too. My oldest brother is heading back to his home (about 2, maybe 2 1/2 hours away) & leaving everything else to do to my other brother & myself. (Well, truth be told, he's leaving everything else to done to me) We've gotten quite a bit done & learned TONS!!! Alot of everything to be done now is waiting....
Anyway, the new year will be here very soon & it's time to move ahead. I will never forget my parents & the good times we had. And I know I will have good days & bad days ahead. Today's the Day
General | Posted 14 years agoWell, today's the day that my family & friends say "Goodbye" to my dad.
Since Friday, my brothers & I have gotten quite a bit done (Surprise Surprise). We've cried at our loss & laughed at some memories. And the pictures.....OMG!!! If that's not a reason to laugh, what is!!
Again, thank you for the love, hugs, concern & all over "I'm here if you need me".

Not the best way to spend a holiday

On Monday (December 19, 2011), I spent the afternoon with my dad. We had a enjoyable time having lunch & doing some Christmas shopping. On Wednesday (December 21, 2011), he was taken to hospital. This morning (Friday, December 23, 2011), my dad passed from this life. His liver shut down & the rest of him just followed. As you may remember, my mom passed on in March.
This is NOT the best way to spend a holiday.
On Monday (December 19, 2011), I spent the afternoon with my dad. We had a enjoyable time having lunch & doing some Christmas shopping. On Wednesday (December 21, 2011), he was taken to hospital. Badnews: It took 2 memory cards & in the dark changing them out, I deleted all the pictures & video I had from MFF & from the First Friday ArtWalk with the Furries....Including Rhubarb & matsi_wuff dancing & Rhubarb playing guitar & singing Christmas carols with some random violin player.
I feel like a dufus....

General | Posted 14 years agoI know, I know...MFF was two weeks ago. So what lame excuse to have for taking so long time?? I've been being lazy?
Ok, well, besides that....here MFF for me:
On Friday, RhubarbTheBear & I got on the road alittle after 8. Which is amazing!! (Rhu's not the early bird that I am) We were driving & making GREAT time...and then...WHAM!!!! Road construction, about an hour & half from the con...no worries, just delay a bit, no biggie....right. Having stopped for the construction, all the sudden Rhu's car wouldn't go into gear. So we had the joy (sarcastic tone there), of sitting on the side of the road for a couple of hours. First, waiting for the Illinois Highway Police & then a tow truck. During this lovely delemia, we're trying to figure out: 1) How are we going to get to the con?
2) Can it be fixed on a Saturday?
3) Will we EVEN get to the con?
4)WHY IS THIS HAPPENING!!?!??!?!?
After many text messages & phone calls: 1) We were rescued to the "Max"!!
maxgoof came in one car for Rhu & me. And 
Maximus-Ursus & 
LoneWolfRaven came in another car to haul all our stuff!! I was SOOOOO glad to see them all again, but seeing them go the extra miles for us...I just love them all even more!!!
2) The car was not able to be fixed until Monday.
3) We did make it the con on Friday. But got there 15 minutes after registration closed. That was a bummer, but, oh well.
4) Why is this happening??? Who knows? But it did & we survived.
Since we weren't registered & it was getting lateish, we found our room & I just crashed!! We shared a room with Matsi_wuff & 
True93. It was also decided that 'WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A GOOD TIME EVEN IF IT KILLS US DAMMIT!!!'
On Saturday, hit the registration line early & went off the have fun!!! On Saturday I met lots of furries!! Including
Dineegla 
MuscleWolf (who I commissioned a GREAT some wonderful art from) 
WeaselZERO 
BlueEyedWolf & 
bigwolfpaws (who I watched the Fursuit Parade with) . I also had the pleasure of meeting (& going to the gym with):

ZakRhyno (I don't want to forget Maximus-Ursus, who was also there for the gym adventure). I also met & got yummy apple-cinnamon bread from 
Sodalite.
On Sunday, more fun & some sadness saying goodbye to new friends. One really happy note about Sunday, for dinner, I got to go with Dineegla, MuscleWolf, WeaselZero, BleuEyedWolf, bigwolfpaws,
tkd_dbull & 
Tevon & had some AMAZING lasagna!!!! And then, YUMMMMMMY pie!!! Thanks for letting me tag along for the super good food!!!

Despite the rough beginning (and the slight anxiety attack I suffered on Monday), fun was still had!! I do have lots of pictures & videos that I hope to get posted very soon!!
I'm sorry if I missed anyone! It was wonderful to meet everyone face-to-face!!! Next year....think I'll fly instead
