interest check: pay-by-the-minute commissions + patreon?
Posted 8 years agoi saw someone doing that on furvilla, and thought i'd see if maybe people here would be interested in an option like that from me.
here's how it would work:
rate would be $o.25/minute, with a five minute minimum
you'd tell me how many minutes you wanted to buy, and what kind of art you wanted.
send the money, and then i'll draw for however long it is!
essentially, the more minutes you bought, the better quality it would be. you could ask for a shaded fullbody in 5 minutes, but it'd be trash tier because it was done in five minutes lol. this would mainly be aimed at people who wanted art from me, but can't afford/don't want to pay for the perfectionism i put into my normal commissions.
please note, i'm NOT opening these right now, i'm just seeing if there's interest in them. i have a ton of stuff on my plate already.
and for examples of how long i usually take at my normal quality level, most of the more recent pictures in my gallery and scraps have the time taken listed in the description somewhere.

unrelated, but i'm also considering starting a patreon. no images would be exclusive to the patreon. i personally think that's crap, though other artists can do what they want, idc. however, high-res files might be patreon exclusive (though at a pretty low tier) because i don't care to put them on da anymore, and patrons might get to decide what tutorials i make, and get them earlier.
any input on that idea would be appreciated as well.

Posted 8 years agoi've been stressing out over numerous things irl, and it seems like every time one thing comes close to a solution, something worse pops up. i'm trying to draw/craft/write/etc., but it's just going poorly and slowly. i made a pair of ears (remade the black ocean ones, actually) a while ago, i'll try to remember to take a picture of them and post it.

second round of infogathering! i want to know how to make outdoor fursuit footpaws from scratch (i.e., without a shoe). again, i've seen people say they've done it, so it must be possible, but i can't find out how. i want to make myself a pair of winter boots this year, and i figure the techniques will work the same!
deadline for this is longer, because it was 94 degrees out today, i don't think i need winter boots any time soon :v
'watercolored' (example) half-body up for grabs this time, because i think this info will probably be harder to find. or portraits if different people find different bits of info.

Posted 8 years agoso, i'm trying to make a yarn tail so that i can dress up as bunny for halloween. now, i know how to make yarn tails, i've made them before, not a big deal. my problem is that bunny's tail absolutely needs to be posable, because it's so long it will drag on the ground if it's not, and that's gross. i know that there are people who make posable yarn tails, so of course it's possible, but for the life of me i can't find a tutorial that really describes/shows how and when to add the wire to make it posable, what kind of wire to use, etc. the only posable tail tutorial i've found simply said 'you add the wire now if you want it posable'. and unfortunately my internet is terrible (i only have access through my phone), so it takes a long time to load even a single tutorial.
SO here's where the part people care about comes in. i'll draw a half-body sketch for the first person to find me a tutorial that properly explains how and when to add wire to make a yarn-tail posable. or if multiple people find different bits that help make a whole picture, i'll do a portrait sketch for each person instead.

Posted 8 years agomy mom and i moved into our new apartment about a week ago. everything's still pretty hectic, and i only have internet through my phone, but hopefully i'll be back to drawing again soon. first up might be some outfit adopts, since i've been playing a game that's giving me all kinds of inspiration.

Posted 8 years ago Yesterday had both good and bad news to bring. On the good side, we went to an appointment for an apartment, and we're told that we're pretty much guaranteed the apartment, they just need to go through the formalities. Unfortunately, there were two major negatives as well; the first is that the apartment won't be available until June 1st, and the second from the people who have been taking care of the few of my cats that I was allowed to keep, saying that they can't hold on to them much longer.
So this is where the help comes in. I need to find a place in or around Hyannis, Massachusetts that can take care of 4 cats from essentially now until June 1st. The only semi-steady internet access that I have is my mom's cell phone, which only opens the things it feels like opening, and is incredibly slow. If anyone could help with some googling, I would really appreciate that. And I'm also opening pay-what-you-want commissions, in an effort to pay for a place for my cats. The minimum is only a dollar, and anything helps. It will probably take a little while to upload the commissions, since the only place nearby I can upload from is McDonald's and my laptop battery is dying, but I'll make sure that the wait is as short as possible. I'm aware that I don't have any recent art to show for examples, but I will try to finish some sketches today to upload as soon as I can.

Posted 8 years agothere's really not much new to say, but i promised an update for anyone who was interested, so here it is. my mother and i are still homeless, and have been since the 27th or 28th of december, i forget which. we're currently living in a homeless shelter, which has a ton of restrictive rules and no internet access, which is why i haven't been and won't be online much. i haven't been able to draw much digitally, because i'm only allowed my laptop from sometime after 9am (whenever a staff member has the time to go get it) until about 330 pm. i was forced to surrender most of my cats; anyone who knows me knows that my cats are my children, and losing most of them is the hardest part of all of this. i also ended up losing my printer/scanner and many of my other belongings in my house, so i won't be able to scan the traditional art i've been doing. the one up side is that i have been reading a lot and working on various creative projects. hopefully when all of this is over, i'll have a cool yarn tail set to show off, plus some traditional sketches and a pair of projects i've started that will take forever, but hopefully be cool when they're done. my mom and i have applied for several different places to live, so now we just have to wait and hope that we get accepted somewhere.
that's all for now, i hope that the rest of you are having a better year so far than i have been. and remember to keep your friends close; without mine, i'd have long since gone crazy.Hiatus
Posted 8 years agoI won't be on for a while. My house was condemned and I was evicted from the property. I'm living in a homeless shelter now, and I can't get online with my laptop. I'm only able to write this from my mom's cell phone. I don't know when I'll be able to be on again. Just wanted to post an update so that you guys knew what was going on. Hopefully I'll be able to be back online soon.

Posted 9 years ago just wanted to post a reminder that commissions are open, and info for them can be found here for regular commissions, or here for $20 commission options. if none of those interest you, you can also commission me by-the-hour, for anything you'd like (within my t.o.s.). the price for that is $16/hour, with a half-hour minimum increment. almost all of my more recent images have the time taken in the description, to give you an idea of how much i can usually get done in a certain amount of time. you can pay for more time if you want something more detailed, or less for something less refined. also, the per-hour option ignores all complex character fees, as the only point of those is that they take much longer to draw. per-hour commissions will also probably have a quicker turnaround time, since they're for a set amount of time.

Posted 9 years ago sorry i haven't been on fa much, i spent most of october trying to make myself a halloween costume. november is (hopefully) going to be full of creativity, though! definitely art, of course, but i also want to set aside some time to sit down and write, and work on some crafty things, too. if my internet gets better, i'd also like to get back into streaming again, but i'm not sure when that will be possible.
i think that's really it. october was pretty boring here on my page, but in november you can look to art, new characters i've never drawn before, and possibly stories too :3 idea: commissions for books?
Posted 9 years ago so i had an idea just pop into my head. i've seen that ko-fi or whatever thing floating around for a bit, which is a neat idea, but i don't drink coffee, and i don't care to ask for donations. however, i love reading. loooooooooooove reading. but i'm flat broke and can't afford to buy books anymore, and the less-than-legitimate methods to read books are understandably limited. (plus, i like physical books better than ebooks). so anyways, the idea:
cheap commissions for the cost of a book. i'm not sure if i'd have a list of desired books, or maybe just genres i like, i haven't gotten that far yet. but they'd either be about $10, or an actual book. (i.e., the commissioner mails me the book, or buys it online and has it shipped to me, etc.). i haven't figured out what kind of art i'd offer for them yet (since currently the only thing i have in that price range is portraits, and no one wants those lol). maybe i could have various options, and better art for sets or something i dunno.
anyways, i'm rambling and my thoughts are all over the place right now. so, what do you think of the idea? good, bad? would you be interested in something like that? do you think it'd be cool to be able to mail me some of your old books and get some art in return? ok, i'm gonna end this now, before i get too excited. comments appreciated as always!halloween stuff

Posted 9 years ago my regular ref sheets cost a lot, because they're a pain to do and take a really long time. but i was wondering if anyone might be interested in some cheaper ones. my idea is to use jasmae's base, and edit it to fit the character. for $45, it would include:
~front and back 'nude' view
~front and back of main outfit+hair
~two extra outfits
~two small or one large marking or accessory close-up
~and of course a color palette
an example of the first two is here. edits on that one are new ears, edited face, added fingernails, and tweaked feet (that i remember).

Posted 9 years agohaven't been intentionally ignoring you, it's just really hot, so i haven't been drawing much of anything. and my laptop's off half the time, cuz it just makes my room even hotter. so i'm pretty much just dozing and reading and complaining about the heat, which is why i haven't thanked you guys for all the faves and stuff. i'll get to it sometime soon, probably. sorry, i really don't do well in the heat. and also i'm insanely jealous of all the people going on their pokemon adventures, so that isn't making me any livelier. i'll try and dedicate one day soon outside to replying to stuff.nevermind

Posted 9 years agotitle's explanatory enough. i want to draw, but don't really have ideas for how i should draw my characters. you can go here for any of my characters, but i'm also specifically looking for ideas for a character i haven't drawn before. her name is anastasia, and she looks somewhat like this: on the right. (she has ears and a tail too.) i haven't figured too much out about her personality yet, but she's a doll that was brought to life with magic, a la pinocchio. i figured i'd do some pictures of her for my new commission sheet, and then finally update my prices etc. so yeah, suggestions are welcome, and for other characters in the link above as well! i'm thinking of doing something silly and kind of crazy with the link, but i need more suggestions for that, so add them all!
