Awful english dubbing. How can you survive this?!
Posted 10 years agoI just realized something over the last few years, and it's quite... annoying.
How comes that so many english dubs (of usually popular series) are SO DAMN AWFULL? I'm comparing it to german dubs of course, where most voices are more... normal I'ld say - at least in a few cases.
Examples:
Rescue Rangers (I just watched an english episode while drawing the last pic) - holy shit, I couldn't watch it in english. Chip's squeaky, barely understandable noise forced me to stop that video 5 minutes in. In german, the voice is still kind of terrible but a lot more bearable (well, maybe it's the language?).
Then, the same for some games like Baldur's Gate. Imoen is so fucking annoying in english - in german, she's jokey yes, but she doesn't act like a 12 year old child. But Minsc is better I suppose... still.
I know there have been a few other examples lately, but I can't remember the details right now - but it was often enough to ask myself the question how you can enjoy theese strange choices / dubs D:

Dragons are like clowns!
Posted 10 years agoWell, I'm sure the title of the journal already steps on someone's foot, but bear with me here!
I just realized, after drawing the second dragon... dragons are like clowns!
I don't know if it's fact or pseudo-information: But I can recall one CSI episode where they mentioned that clowns register their makeup / markings, and that every clown has an unique marking - even if it's just slightly different:
That's basically the same for dragons! Every dragon looks different! Stripes, horns in different places, ears / no ears, coloring, hair...!
And then my next question was: Does that mean that every dragon is the sum of his (also unique) parents? Like two clown makeups thrown togheter? Or more like fusions in DBZ? :D
I just wasted another 5 minutes of your time for nonsense!
You're welcome ;D

A matter of style
Posted 10 years agoPointless rant ahead - I'm mostly talking with myself here. If you read it, at least enjoy wasting your time ;D
I'm certainly no well trained (or educated) artist, and really drawing is more of a mood thing for me personally. I get some sudden inspiration, from a game, another picture, a film or just a stupid thought - and instantly want to throw it on 'paper'. When I do, my attention span tends to be rather short - that's why I rarely ever get to the coloring: It either has to be finished in one go, or it won't finish at all. That's also the reason why I do really, really poorly with requests and that sort of stuff.
Now, what's kind of bothering me lately - especially when I'm drawing so many things lately (I don't upload most of the stuff since some sketches are just too silly / cheap) - is 'style'.
What do I mean by that? Consistency. Well to be more specific: Every time I sketch something, I just "do it". I don't think about 'hm, how did I draw feet last time?' or 'do I add holes to that nose or not?'. I want to become a bit more consistent with the whole drawing process - one of the major points there, are the eyes.
Now, my thinking was: Alright - get more consistent. How do I do that? Practice of course. But practice WHAT exactly? And there the trouble begins - there are SO many good choices, I struggle to decide (I'm kind of thinking to the future, when a certain style has set in):
Feet This is one of the major decisions. Digitigrade or plantigrade? I obviously prefer digitigrade (and pretty much will continue with that) - but it has a ton of problems: No shoes, socks look weird - and footgear in general should be avoided. Furthermore... every time I'm thinking about an animated digitigrade character running, a Morrowind III Argonian starts running weirdly. This would make the choice quite obvious, right? Plantigrade is the way to go! And yet, I still prefer Digitigrade... And even then, there are mixes: Plantigrade feet walking on paw-like toes, digitigrade with calcaneus, etc. For female characters, the latter actually looks quite good - but again, switching between things lacks consistency. And I like consistency.
Eyes Oh, this is my favorite one. Eyes... I never know how to fucking draw them. Every single time I just randomly put some lines togheter until they look like an eye, but it's basically a reinvention every time. I already figured out that I tend to draw eyes waaay too small, making any real details hard to add. That's something I'm trying to train right now - always going back to the eyes and just making them twice the size. But in terms of style, there are so damn many... anime, realistic, cartoony - I guess I'll be going with a mix between anime and realistic? I have no idea.
Hands Well this one is easy - I thought. I like realistic, human hands - with 5 fingers. But then, Robert HAD to mention that 4 fingers work better for animations - and they certainly do. The "fifth" finger is always something I struggle with every time. It'ld be so much easier to just drop it - but oh well, I'll try to stick to five still. Those "stubby" fingers are quite nice too, but they look somewhat weird when interacting with objects like a human would do.
Fur I tend to add a lot of random pieces of fur sticking out on longer lines, just to break them - but that also makes the whole thing look a lot dirtier, something I actually don't like. I'm trying to loose that habit, especially when it comes to shoulders and female characters - but on the other side, long lines are so boring! I guess that's just something I have to figure out with more practice.
Hips / Anatomy in general Oh boy, I love to add hips. But the way I did it so far is quite inconsistent. And it can almost look like a caricature at some point, but I'm slowly figuring out how I want to do them on females (basically, an upside down heart shape) - still, I tend to do the hips completly differently on male bodies, which makes them inconsistent again!
Coloring Oh fuck, I don't even want to start about this one. I completly lack any right technique to color anything, it's always more of a random thing than real coloring. But I'm positive that I'll have it figured out in about 15 years or so.
Don't ask me why I wrote this wall of text. I'm just in the mood to transfer my boring thoughts into text it seems, hahaha. I can't even remember what point I was trying to make - I guess none at all.
Hey, at least now I can pretend that I actually have a lot to say! ;D Sorry for wasting 10 minutes (or 30 if you're a slow reader) of your time. I'ld refund you for it, but I don't like to give things away ;)

Different artists from everywhere (mainly europe, but some others too), take comissions for different animals. Maybe you'll find something fitting too!

Posted 14 years agoOh well, it was a nice week and I had the chance to see some old friends and talk to some new people ;) Even had the chance to talk to an artist I never would have expected there!
Oh, and since I was there with siobhan it was much more fun too! Alcohol, eating, spending money, talking, dancing... spending money ... everything - besides sleeping. Hell, I even watched a documentary about deactivating the left brain half... ^^

The only downside IMHO was the art show / auction. It's really sad to see that the focus for some people to spend the money, went to some rather 'normal' pictures, but the really great stuff that was there* (the big paintings), didnt get really much (at least, compared to some other 'simpler' pictures). But oh well, I got the two pictures I wanted, from jackrow ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5173602/ ) and
 jackrow ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5173602/ ) and nimrais
 nimrais
Sadly I didnt get everything I wanted ( gnarrrghhhh http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6099914/ .. D: )
* Oh... and this one... I REALLY wanted this one... http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6050718 - that looked sooo fucking great - but I tought 'naah, gets over 1000 anyway' - pfft, sadly it didnt - what a waste! I should have tried.
Anyway, alltogheter some really nice experiences and impressions, and much less money - like every year x3

Ahhh... New energy!
Posted 16 years agoWell, hello everyone!
First of all, I want to say thanks to my newer watcher (yeah, that includes everyone who watched me in the last 2 months) and thanks for the favs! I just didnt manage to say thanks to everyone in time, so I'm doing it here!
Well, now... Since some years ago, I always had some targets in mind when I was drawing, regarding my style / pictures, I had much more energy than now - Lately, I just get too lazy to really draw something, that's one of the main reasons why I need so much time to do so.
But...! At some rare days in the year, I'm so full of energy that I want to change that, and I nearly cant sit still - And this is again, one of this days. Now, many things have changed since I last updated my Journal - I lost work - and I found a new, great job again, and between that I had a big hole filled with constant boredom and bad mood's.
To get to the point - I think, I really want to draw on a regular base again, and so I tought maybe I should try that request thing too, one time. I know I already have requests from some people, and that ones will be done too, but besides them, I want to open 5 Request slots. I only will do a sketch - probably, outlines too, if I like the picture / idea, but I dont think I will color it (I hate coloring stuff >.< ). Well, anyway - the rules are simple: It has to be something not tooo exagerated, a single character maybe, doing something - nothing too complicated. It can be mature / adult, but with some limits.
Well, anyway, I wont take every Idea, but I wont be too choosy either. I would say, first five to ask, will probably be served. But pleeease, give me some interesting Ideas, not only characters that stand there and wait ;P
I will really try to keep it fast* - I hope to do one request, every 2 days (for MY standarts, that's pretty fast!)
And now, to the less interesting part: Yeah, I know what requests I already have to do - for rayvanna,
 rayvanna, trigger12,
trigger12, flookie, and about 100 requests from
flookie, and about 100 requests from pasc - they will be done... I really hope ^^
pasc - they will be done... I really hope ^^
*: Since I still am in the first week of my new Job, I dont know if something unexpected will slow me down, like additional projects - so be aware! Oh, and my lazyness sometimes beats me too... >.>
Well, all in all, I hope it works like I want =3
Have a nice day!
And forgive me my english...

Posted 17 years agoOh my god, I did it!
I had to play the psycho for a whole day, and lie a little here and there, but well, they seem to have believed everything and have send me home after a booring and exhausting day =D
Oh well but not before torturing me with stupid physic- and psycho tests, all in all it was about 10 hours of waiting, 2 hours of listening and 4 hours of testing or so ~.~
Well, anyway, no sensless 18-hour-crawling-in-the-dirt days and such things, only a little higher taxes at the end of the year hahaha
Anyway, good day and so on.. =P

Military ._.
Posted 17 years agoYeah yeah.. military is calling D:
After tomorrow, I will have to go a casern, and then 3 days of psycho and physic tests, bad food and boring waittimes await me >.<
Bah, I just hope I'm able to play the psycho so they dont want me for military and put me somewhere else, like civil defense, that would be muuuch better - but I fear they are too smart to fall for simple tricks D:
I will see... Anyway, I wont be around next week, I guess =/

Finally... done!
Posted 17 years agoWell, well, after 4 Years of sitting around I finished at monday. The final exams are done, and I would say I passed (it was ridiculously simple, compared to the stuff I expected).
And even better, I've 35 vacation days left over, and after one Year whitout holidays I'm using them up now. Yeah I'm kind of a workoholic somehow xD
Well, lately I wasnt really in the mood to do something, but now after everything is behind me, I have more time for myself to draw or do other things I wanted to.
I'm looking forward to my new payment in some weeks hrhrhr xD
