It's my Evolubirthday* (or evolution birthday) for my fursona. 11 years ago I became the demonwolf I am today.

(* This was supposed to go up on the 11th, but FA ran into some hiccups, hence the delay. No biggie though ^.^)

But let's take a step back and define fursona. To some it is merely an avatar, an online character associated with them. To others it is something they identify as similar to, or possessing those animal's traits. To others it is more spiritual, a totem of sorts...and it is this last catagory that I fall into.

When I first found the fandom, I was a simple timber wolf. Nothing special, nothing out of the ordinary, no neon orange cock with rainbow hair and electric tribal tattoos. It spoke to what I connected with inside. Wolves were always a favorite animal. (and dragons, but when it came down to a choice between them, wolves won). So...timber wolf.

A couple years later I had a vivid dream, in which I was a colt splashing hoof deep in a crystal clear pebbled lake in verdant valley. The dream remains as vivid now as it did when I was dreaming it, and when I woke I knew that the horse, or more specifically colt, was a part of me. It had always been, and had just then revealed itself. I couldn't explain it...it just felt RIGHT!

11 years ago...things were bad. Depression, moodyness, anger...I found myself lost...until I came across an image that sparked something inside me, made me want to be IT. Once again, like the colt, it just felt RIGHT! So I donned that new form...demon...it matched what I felt inside. Looking back at my Livejournal entries for that time, I cringe at how angsty, angry, dark I had become.

I tracked down the artist,  Jax, and asked if I could use that image as my fursona. Since it hadn't been done for anyone in particular, the artist said "Yes, go for it." I didn't ask him to name it Hunter, or to add my name to it, or to go around saying it was me. It was a personal decision, one that didn't require anyone's acknowledgment. The image spoke to me...and out of courtesy and respect to the artist, I simple asked for his permission to don that appearance, and that was all that was needed.

It took a little time for me to figure out what all this meant. Wolf, colt, demon...it all came together and my furevolution was complete. The wolf embodied everything good about me. The colt embodied everything playful and childlike, my hopes, dreams, fantasies. The demon was my darker side manifest, selfish, angry, destructive.

During this dark period 11 years ago, the wolf aspect of myself had retreated to lick his wounds and heal. He had supported me, given me strength, but things had gone too far and he had used up all he had. So, in order to support me, the demon took over, using this period to take control, to keep me going, while the wolf healed. The colt was allowed to come out and play on occassion, but the demon aspect was at the forefront.

When the wolf had healed, he claimed control back, and I was now a demonwolf. Not wolfdemon. Demonwolf, since the wolf was my primary aspect, my first, and the demon was supplemental. Demon and wolf were my physical form, the colt was my soul, my inner child. So, technically, demonwolfcolt...even though the colt was purely spiritual.

If you wanted to delve deeper...you could say demonwolfcolt with dragon legacy...but that just makes it sound too flashy. The dragon aspect is purely a remnant from when dragons and wolves vied for my favor. Like a child with his mother's nose, or father's chin, or somesuch, it doesn't define the child, but is merely a trait passed down.

This "dragon legacy" or rather, trait, is my love of collecting, hoarding, stuff! Books, action figures, underwear, porn...it is my desire to own this and this and this and that and stash it around me so I can be comforted by my "treasure".

Now I'm looking to create Warrior, Thief and Priest figures...since that covers the basic RPG classes ^.^

So...ideas...what species can you see in those roles? I have my own ideas for them...but it doesn't hurt to pick others' brains :)

Toyota Prius...the pros and cons that you are aware of.

I know the Prius has had a bad rap in the past for being expensive and prissy, but I'm looking for reliable info that is current...not based on 5 year old reports...personal experience would be awesome, but second hand reports are useful too.

I already know that while the repair costs on the Prius are slightly more than average, these repairs are fewer and far between.

Expensive battery replacement...fair enough, though these are hardly anywhere near the multiple thousands of dollars they used to cost to replace...and are good for up to 10 years or more (and savings in gas easily negate the cost of the replacement)

MPG...definitely savings on gas, which is directly proportional to how far you drive..the more you drive, the more you save, effectively.

Any information will be researched online through multiple sources to ensure validity/viability.

From what I've found through numerous searches online, bias towards the Prius is mostly cosmetic, and doesn't take into account everything.

Let's use the following outline, shall we, in responding to this ^.^

So, October 12 is the anniversary of our getting together officially, and July 4th is our official engagement :)

It feels right to have Independence Day be the day we made things official...independence from DOMA's injustice, freedom to actually get to where we want to be :)

You'd expect, with such a large LGBT community among furries, that there would be more mention of the victory against DOMA.

Well...kinda...

Woke up this morning to rain, thunder and chittering. Looking out the window I saw a fluffy black and white moving carpet...a family of skunks...mommy and 7 babies...probably out on their first forage session.

Grabbed my camera...found the battery dead...grabbed my phone...and darted out the front door to film them, sneaking around so as not to startle them. Adorable wet fluffy things...and 6 of them ended up alone after mom wandered off with one and the other 6 didn't notice, too occupied with something on the ground. (She eventually came back)

After a few minutes I got too close to 4 of them and they noticed me...or at least, my feet. I backed away, and I guess to a skunk anything that runs from you is food...so...they came after me, 4 fluffy balls of wet fur scuttling and chirping and I stopped and let them swarm my feet sniffing and nudging and one frisky little guy decided to see if I was edible and nipped at my toe.

Deciding not to risk more aggressive attention, I quickly eluded them and continued filming from some stairs.

The apartment staff then pitched up and attempted to round the critters up...which was amusing to see, especially after mom returned. I guess no one wanted to come face to butt with a family of skunks.

Of course, then I went to google skunks...since I google things I'm curious about..and RABIES jumps forward!!! Great...so now rabies is stuck in my head. So I phoned the department of health and explained the incident and inquired as to my risk. Obviously they couldn't say I would be fine (culpability lawsuits and such) but did say I was at very low risk.

I'm pretty sure I'm fine...the skunks seemed healthy, weren't aggressive, weren't unsteady on their feet, seemed more curious about me than friendly, and above all, the nip was just that... nip...a test to see if I was edible...and it didn't break the skin. Besides, if they had rabies, the mom would have had to have it, and in that case, they wouldn't have survived long enough to make it out the den.

Still, with my mindset it's now there and something that I find myself thinking on every now and again...stupid brain :(

These are not complete, and are constantly under revision. As such they are both guidelines and set in stone.

I would like to point out that my commissioners have all walked away very happy with results, and I have had absolutely no issues with any commissioners to date. These TOC's are simply to protect myself (as some friends have suggested I do, due to hassles they've encountered) and to let my commissioners know how things tend to work :)

After watching the latest episode..."Rings of Akhenaten"...I was left with a very sobering realization during the Doctor's speech near the end.

Tennant would have made me cry during that scene. Smith's acting was too...comedic... to be taken seriously...even Clara's impassioned speech was more emotion inspiring than the Doctor's.

As you may have guessed...I am a Tennant fan...he brought the perfect mix of quirky and solemn to the role.

Smith is ok...but always has the air of a court jester around him which brings the magnitude of the Doctor down several rungs.

I'm trying to get a wonderful sculpting book which will help me improve my current abilities and allow me to experiment more easily with different techniques. This book, however, costs a bit of money, which...I don't have :(
