MFF Meme...cos everyone's doing them ^.^
General | Posted 14 years agoWhere are you staying?
I'll be in the main hotel.
What days will you be there?
Thursday through Monday
Who will you be with?
Coopervulpaw,
peps6g73 and...whoever else is in da room.
Who will you hang out with during the convention?
I have a few planned hang outs with folks, but most of the time will play it by ear.
Are there any panels you might be attending?
I dunno, yet. If any panels strike me as interesting, I may go.
Will you be suiting?
Yes I will ^.^
Do you do free art?
Sometimes...it really depends on a bunch of stuff...
Do you do trades?
Sometimes...as above.
Do you do badges?
No...my artform is sculpting, not drawing.
Do you do commissions?
I doooooooooo ^.^
What is your gender?
I have a penis.
Can I talk to you?
Definitely ^.^ Love meeting new folks!
Can I touch you?
I like HUGS! But please make sure you've taken your shower first...
How can I find you?
I'm easy to find in suit...big, red and fluffy! Out of suit...um...brownish leather jacket, likely a red wolf t-shirt, and a badge or two saying "HUNTER".
Can I visit your room?
Yup...but I may not be there...so best to wait for an invite :)
Can I buy you drinks?
If you really want to.
Can I give you stuff?
If you really want to.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Hugs are awesome...snuggles are cool too, but more situation dependent.
Are you nice?
I like to think so. Come to think of it, lots of folks seem to think so too. ^.^
Do you have an artist table?
Nope.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
A tap on the shoulder, calling out my name, these are things that work well ^.^
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
Around the con...I don't have much in the line of specific plans.
What/where will you be eating?
I have no idea yet.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
If there is space, sure ^.^ (Car space will be limited if we need to make use of a car.)
Can I look in your sketchbook?
I don't have one.
Can I take your picture?
If I'm in Fursuit, go crazy! If not, ask first ^.^
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
I've learned that goals set for cons rarely pan out, as they're replaced with other goals...so I'm just gonna wing it. ^.^

Talking whilst in fursuit...
General | Posted 14 years agoQuite simply...if you're a fucking anthropomorphic dragon, or a wolf-fox hybird, I can fucking talk.
Not talking in fursuit is NOT a rule...its a guideline...much as with every other guideline for fursuit performers.
The only times you shouldn't talk in fursuit is:
a) personal preference - limited to yourself in your own fursuit
b) you're performing in a well known character suit, like Donald or Goofy or some such, where your voice would obviously be very out of place in that character, who already has a defined vocal style (unless you can do the voice spot on, of course.)
c) you're performing in someone else's fursuit and they don't want you talking in it.
d) you're under contract not to do so
As for removing your head in public...personal choice once again (unless you're under contract from the organization to whom the fursuit/mascot you're wearing belongs.) While I'll endeavor to remove my head or suit out of public eye, if I have to do it in public...so...be...it.
Don't like it? CONGRATS! You don't have to! But your dislike is in no way, shape or form going to change my outlook on it.

Anyone else aware of this sinister organization...
General | Posted 14 years agothat exists in every tabletop roleplaying game, story, mission and campaign, who's power stretches across the fantastical realms of existence that make up the roleplaying cosmos, from D&D to Shadowrun to Cthulu to World of Darkness to GURPS, working closely with GMs and DMs the world over?
They are...
the Knights of the Red Herring!
The Bane of adventurers and heroes everywhere!!!

I just trolled Munchkin, the card game ^.^
General | Posted 14 years ago4 players (Me, Cooper, Devon and Loaf)
All of us at level 9.
All of us needing only one level to win it.
Me denying victory turn after turn after turn (lots of card that denied victory in my hand)
The first trolling action came when Devon was about to win, and Cooper was asking him to let him help (him having the Elf card, which would give both of them a level, causing both to win). I managed to convince Devon to let me help him, that way he would be the only winner! (Btw..he didn't need anyone's help to win, but my earnest argument made him forget that fact) When I joined him in the attack, I used Charm (me having the Wizard card) and caused the monster to flee...causing no level gain.
Then, during my turn to win it, Cooper pleaded with me to help, so that we would both gain a level and win. I agreed, and played Charm once more...denying us both victory.
This caused Loaf to win.
I just wanted to make the game more fun! And Crazy...oh...and earlier the session I did play the Net Troll. ^.^

VigLink drama
General | Posted 14 years agoAnother example of furries making a mountain out of a molehill.
Harmless linking code gets added to FA so they can make a little extra revenue.
Some fur finds out about it and goes "OMG you didn't tell us! Our privacy rights have been infringed upon! FOUL!"
This cry gets whipped up by the horde of furry idiots who react out of ignorance and respond with an avalanche of "Neer's wrong!" "This is bullshit!" "Our privacy is invaded!" "We're being screwed over!"
First, let it be known that similar linking code is well implemented among most websites. Hell, Facebook, Twitter and countless other social networking sites utilize much more intensive tracking code than this harmless little addition to FA.
Numerous sites track info that can actually PLACE your location on a MAP! Down to the city, suburb and even post code!
And here people are getting upset over some trivial code that "tracks" an infinitesimal percentage of a percentage of data that has no bearing on you, who you are, where you are, or what you do.
"But Neer should have told us boo hoo boo hoo."
You see Google or Facebook or anyone else TELLING you they've got tracking code implemented? You see your IP TELLING you they've got tracking code implemented?
Grow up, furries.
Code implementation: molehill
Typical butthurt furry response: mountain.

For the most part, pretty accurate. However, there are scattered inconsistencies in the outcome of the profiling, bits and pieces which aren't set in stone or aren't exactly as laid out below. But this is the problem with a few minute online profiling test. The questions leave little room for exceptions, or incorporate usually similar statements together where in truth only one of those statements are correct.
Scrupulous
You are an honest, fair person. You don't lie or cheat to get ahead. You treat others with respect and hope for the same in return.
You do not feel that you are above the rules that everyone else follows; you are definitely not willing to do whatever it takes to get ahead. (There are times where I will do what is needed to get ahead, and where the rules will bend, or break, depending on the situation.)
Calm
You rarely become irritated, generally accept people as they are, take things as they come, and feel relaxed in most situations.
You do not let a minor annoyance escalate to a confrontation. You don't regularly snap at those around you or fly off the handle with little provocation.
Introspective
You like your own company; you're a very interesting person. Tracking your own mental processes, knowing what you're thinking and why you do what you do, is important to you. Often, what's going on in your mind is more compelling than what's going on outside. For the most part, those with a high score on the "introspective" trait enjoy reading, taking long walks, learning new things, and other solitary activities.
You are not someone who is constantly looking to be among a group of friends; you never feel bored when you are by yourself. (Ironically, this is both true and false. While I am comfortable being alone, I also yearn for that close knit camaraderie of a close circle of regular friends.)
Buttoned-Down
You like to know that everything is in its place; it's somehow empowering to know that the world around you is neat and organized. For you, schedules and timelines are great ways to stay on track, and mowing down the items on your "to do" list is a source of happiness.
You do not believe that a clean, orderly desk is the sign of a person who doesn't have enough to do; you don't thrive on a sense of personal anarchy. (I believe there is a place for everything, even chaotic messes, though I do, for the most part, like things clean and orderly.)
Original
You are constantly coming up with new ideas. For you, the world as it exists is just a jumping-off place; what's going on inside your mind is often more interesting than what's going on outside.
You don't feel that the road to success is to be a realist and stick to the program; you never stop yourself from coming up with new ideas or telling the world what you're thinking about.
Solitary
You are a private person, not very comfortable in a big group, and view excessive socializing as a waste of time. (I do not view excessive socializing as a waste of time. While I will, at first, be a little discomforted in a large group, especially a group of people I don't know, if the group is familiar to me, then I am comfortable.)
You not prefer hanging out with others to spending time alone; you do not tend to feel at home in a crowded room, club, stadium, or auditorium. (False. I do not prefer either one. Both are fun, both are acceptable, both are comfortable. It really comes down to my mood at the time.)
Cooperative
You enjoy teamwork, play well with others, and prefer getting along to winning. (Yes and no. Teamwork in paintball or overcoming an obstacle...yes. Competitive in a game or contest...yes.)
You're not compelled to win every contest nor to be right all the time. (A contest to me is about the battle to achieve combined with the fun in striving for the finish line first (or whatever the victory condition is). I will be compelled to win any contest I enter, but if I don't, it was still likely fun.)
Upbeat
You enjoy being around others and others enjoy being around you. You have a "live and let live" attitude; because you know that no one's perfect, you are forgiving and happy to give the benefit of the doubt.
You don't feel the need to be controversial or express contrary opinions all the time. You see no reason to go around rubbing people the wrong way. (Unless you start it...in which case I'm damned happy to end it...or at least piss you off on the way. ^.^)
Responsible
You fulfill your obligations and responsibilities, are true to your word, and generally obey the rules. While the majority of those who have a high score on the "responsible" trait enjoy traveling, they are usually very happy to return home — and don’t mind staying put for a while. (LOVE traveling, and I'll obey the rules when they make sense.)
You're opposed to making hasty decisions, you don't insist that you're above the rules, nor do you feel compelled to color outside the lines. (Above the rules...color outside the lines...depends very much on the situation. While it is true, there is always the exception.)
Organized
You like to think a task through before you embark on it. If it's the slightest bit complicated, you make a list (even if it's only in your mind) and methodically work your way through it. When you have a goal in mind, you're not satisfied until you reach it.
You are not one of those people who ignore the details, and you don't understand how anyone can get anything accomplished without thoughtful planning ahead of time.

Advice for anti-virus
General | Posted 14 years agoMy current antivirus of choice (NOD32) is updating its software and forcing me to pay for the upgrade.
I need options for free anti-virus. So far I've been told AVG and Avast. Of these, which is better? And any other suggestions appreciated :)

Thundercats (Cartoon Network)
General | Posted 14 years agoJust watched the remake of the Thundercats...and I'm impressed. An interesting outlook on the characters and a lot of changes from the original which (a) are refreshing and (b) don't do injustice to the original.

How the furry have fallen..AKA..Corruption within the fandom
General | Posted 14 years agoMake a pie chart of the fandom, and you're likely looking at a pacman type image...where pacman = sex.
While prominent figures continue to state that Furry does not equate to sex...they, and any who agree with them, are sadly naive, ignorant, blind...i could go on but you get the gist.
Furry used to mean SOMETHING! And to a degree it still does. But a large part of the newest waves of furries are merely a blight, a pestilence on what furry used to mean. They bring with them new blood, but along with that comes rudeness, arrogance, ignorance, immaturity and stupidity.
Forget about a rational debate...its either their way...or you're a faggoty troll fur-hater!
The fandom clutches greedily to itself anything remotely of furry interest and brands it as its own. Bolt? FURRY! How to tame your dragon? FURRY! Over the Hedge? FURRY!
There is still a core of meaning, of value, at the heart of the fandom...getting to it just requires you wade through rank layers of corpulent flesh to get there.
For the record...I have nothing against furry porn..let's not sugarcoat things with "Adult artwork" tags...its porn...its created to arouse and garner interest in its sexuality...very, very rarely is it a form of artistic impression.
Furry porn is an aspect of the fandom...just like cons, just like fursuits, just like plush toys, just like acceptance, just like fun, just like support (furry generosity is often extremely touching)...but porn is not my alpha and omega.

Winner of Superhero/Supervillain Sculpt Contest.
General | Posted 14 years agoFREE SUPER FURSONA SCULPT UP FOR GRABS! ^.^
General | Posted 14 years agoTime to challenge myself, and the randomly drawn winner of this little contest gets ART! In the form of a mini sculpt...much like those in my gallery.
How does this work?
SIMPLE:
STEP 1: comment on this journal with a link to your fursona (need a reference pic to work from) AND choose TWO of your favorite Super Heros! (Or Super Villans)
STEP 2: Once you have done this, make a journal entry on YOUR FA page linking THIS journal.
Yup..its one of those advertise me and you can get free stuff...journals.
Next Monday I'll randomly select someone (who has done both steps) and attempt to merge their fursona with their fave superhero in mini sculpt form! I ask for TWO superheroes so I have a choice in what I can do ^.^ Feel free to specify which superhero you prefer, and I'll do my best to choose that one!
Now, if you are HAPPY with the outcome, and would like to receive the sculpt, I WILL ask for a $2 paypal donation to cover postage (unless you are attending MFF later this year in which case I can get it to you then..if you'd like) To be clear, the $2 is ONLY if you like the outcome and would like to receive the sculpt, and only for postage (not making anything on this)
EDIT: Had it asked if the $2 was for global shipping as well! So...editing this quickly. $2 for shipping within the USA! For international shipping, it would vary depending on country, so between $2 and $5 depending on where in the world you are. Feel free to note me for specific country postage prices
I will not put myself to a time estimate on this challenge, as commissions take precedence, and life can get in the way...but I can guestimate approximately a month before this is finished, if not less.

Let's be concise:
sportypup has Valvular Heart Disease, and if not treated, will cause heart failure. The surgery will cost $40,000, but needs $16,500 up front just to have the surgery and essentially survive.
They're currently only at about $3,000 as of writing this (2/4/11), so they're a bit away from the $16,500 goal.
Donate what you can, $1 or $100 or whatever. Anything helps.
I don't know the guy, just heard of him today, but if I were in trouble, I'd hate to have to beg for money, but I'd want help too if I needed it.

Get your art promoted!
General | Posted 15 years agoThe first 10 people to comment in here get me to look through their galleries and find my three favorite pics of theirs. I will then make a journal promoting them. BUT, there's a catch, if you comment you MUST do it in your journal =^.^=
Also be sure to look at the pics that will be promoted on the next journal, that's the whole point of this ^.^ to look at others' work. You may even find someone you didn't know about and you love his/her stuff ^.^
So, post here and I'll pimp your art/commissions!

Follow up to last ranty journal...
General | Posted 15 years agoSince that post I got several notes and IMs gasping about how mean a post it was.
Tough.
People on FA LOVE to jump the gun on things and go running around like a headless chicken before thinking about the bottom line...and that is one of three things.
1) You're an artist and FA is ANOTHER PLACE to display your work and possibly make some money.
2) You're a fan and enjoy furry art.
3) You're a troll.
Apart from trolls, why should you care what drama or drastic event takes place outside of the first two points?
If you wanna leave (or claim to leave) just go...but you're shooting yourself in the foot.

Folks leaving FA.
General | Posted 15 years agoThanks to an inundation of similar journals from my watch list I'm going to say this...
Really, screaming like whiny bitches and running off to other sites cos OMG the site got hacked and OMG drama and OMG something something up my ass...
ARE YOU FRIKKING KIDDING ME?
I for one will NOT be following you to your next port of call.
Like FA is the only site that's been hacked in the history of the interwebs.
Like FA is the only site suffering lag and downtime and such after a hack in the history of the interwebs.
So yeah, run away, cry, piss off...whatever.
If you use a site such as FA...or Sofurry...or Inkbunny...or Furnation...or whatever else for social purposes...guess what...there's gonna be drama. Deal with it and shut your whiny pie holes.
I have no use for these sites as social networking sites...I have IMs for that. These sites are to display my art and possibly get commissions, but hey, its obviously wise to run away from a site that can GET you WATCHES and COMMISSIONS just cos some shit's gone on that really...doesn't have much to do with you in the first place.

USA set to Censor the internet.
General | Posted 15 years agoIn the United States, a new law proposal called The Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA) was introduced, and there will be a hearing in front of the Judiciary Committee November 18, 2010.
If passed, this law will allow the government, under the command of the media companies, to censor the internet as they see fit, like China and Iran do, with the difference that the sites they decide to censor will be completely removed from the internet and not just in the US.
Please see the following article from the Huffington Post for more information.

And if you are a US citizen, please take the time to sign this petition http://demandprogress.org/blacklist/
Remember to contact your representatives to let them know your opinion on the proposed bill. To find out who are the senators on your state and their contact information, you can visit the Senate website.
