At some point in the past few years, furry has stopped being fun. I would try to argue that it's less fun in general, but for sure just for me.

At one point, furry was a thing that the weird kids made fun of you for being into. The anime dorks made fun of you for being a furry. Remember that big diagram where the highest tier was "Published sci/fi artists and writers" and the lowest tier, below absolutely everything was "people who write erotic versions of Star Trek where all the characters are furries, like Kirk is an ocelot or something and they put a furry version of themself as the star of the story"? That was like, what furry was. Yeah, it wasn't fun to be the lowest of the low, but I always felt ok there, because (at least for me) punk rock was always like, embracing being the scummy, shitty person who everyone hated, so it worked. It wasn't that you were a loner and a loser sitting alone with your weird interest, once you found furry, you were among your people. There was power in community. There was solace in not being alone.

But now, it's like all the nerds have decided that they're not nerds anymore, and they can they reshape this into a hierarchy and can they themselves step on some heads?. Most of the people I know absolutely hate someone else who they have almost everything in common with. If they went to the same high school, they'd be best friends, but since they're in this one weird fandom, they fucking hate each other - usually for something that happened like 10 years ago that they refuse to talk about. Everyone fucking hates everyone else. And since it's mostly a left-leaning fandom, it's not like 50% hates the other 50% for obvious reasons like the rest of the country - it's like people arbitrarily fucking hate each other for the dumbest shit. I honestly can't even keep track of who hates who and why anymore. The gossip and drama is so overbearing, its crazy.

And now to make this into a personal thing: this has nothing to do with what happened with ANE. This is just everything in the fandom. I just don't fit into it in the same way anymore. I have enough bullshit in my real life that when I hop onto twitter for a few minutes and I see who the new pariah of the day is, I realize how disconnected I am from it all. I used to say "I don't care" but I did. Now, I really don't care. I "car crash care". But I don't care. I don't think I have it in me to clamor around and try to impress anyone in this fandom. I don't have it in me to try to reason with children, literal or figurative. I definitely understand why people disappear from the fandom.

It's been said that you can't really quit furry. I think if you find furry in an organic way, (you liked one cereal over another because of the mascot when yo were 4 and didn't truly understand why), your favorite cartoons were only animals, Robin Hood gave you that funny feeling, etc, then no, you can never really "stop" being a furry. But I certainly can see how people are like "fuck this fandom, I'm out". The first party I went to at my first con there was someone who was saying "this is my last con" and it really made me feel like "but why? I'm just meeting you now! This is so depressing, this is night one of the rest of my life." And I get it. Too much bullshit. At some point, you just gotta bounce. Or step back. Or something.

So, MFF was something else, I had a fucking great time, some painful hangovers, was woken up by someone for that Chlorine thing, had some weird experiences, met some new people, made a complete retard out of myself more than I'd care to admit and probably more things.

Unfortunately, this will be the last con I can go to until at least AC this summer, and even that I may miss. This cop came to my house at midnight once because of a call of an alarm going off the previous day. He told me to be more cognizant of my surroundings and when I asked him how to be more cognizant of my surroundings when I wasn't there (bam/whoops) he lost his marbles at me. He took us to court. Judge threw out the ticket and he contested it. I hope he is dead now. For real.

Uhhh right now I usually drive a Chevy Express 15 passenger van and a bike. And I would like to drive a hybrid if i had to have a car.

I'm absolutely not a superstitious person at all but after having some shitty times recently, I'm hoping to be moving on and up into better times.

So what I mean by the whole superstitious thing is that saying "bad things come in threes". Well if bad things come in threes, those three would be Unemployment, Probation and Car Accident. Not all happened at the same time, but at one point all three were going on at the same time.

So I'm off probation. No worries about money or getting in trouble or anything anymore. Got that off my back so that's a step in the right direction.

I'm also doing some freelance screen printing jobs and research studies while looking for a job. Going in for an interview at a local pet supply store/doggie day care. I have some experience working with animals and I'd (obviously) love to work with dogs again (duh). So hopefully tomorrow will bring some good things my way. Tomorrow, I also hope to get unemployment squared away, which would seriously help me out.

And lastly (and also having to do with tomorrow), I'm getting my collarbone looked at by a doctor that my lawyer (something of a Saul Goodman character) hooked me up with. He made the appointment for me and everything. I'm hoping all of my bills will be taken care of, my bike fixed, my glasses fixed and some cash for time that I wasn't able to work.

So yeah, bad things happen to good people and sometimes bad things even happen to average people (me). But I'm pretty optimistic about the next few weeks. Here's to hoping.

P.S. I just got a new iPhone from my super rad buddy  basil34 and a twitter account. So now I can be even more annoying to all of you fine, furry folks :3

I'm gonna try to type with both hands but it's hard with a broken collarbone.

Today while riding my bike down Huntington Ave at around 8AM, passing by 2 lines of cars stopped on my side of the road, a woman in a gray SUV took a left turn from the opposite side of the road directly in front of me and i slammed straight into her rear door, going a pretty decent speed. My front tire turned off to the left and I launched forward, smashing into the top of her car breaking off something that was plastic with my shoulder. I fell back down on the street and lay there for a second.

I was pretty dazed and shaken up and when I got my bearings there were already 3 people there willing to help me out. They got me up and out of the street to the curb with my bike (that I think is still in pretty decent condition). One called 911 for me, a girl bent down and wanted to see if I needed anything and stayed with me till the ambulance came and another guy checked to see if I was hurt and then got the information from the woman for me.

The ambulance came and I was strapped in and everything and taken to the hospital. Yadda yadda yadda, its all boring hospital bullshit from here on out but yeah, I have a broken collarbone and I'm on drugs. Yuck.

Wear a helmet when you ride.
