Lake District holiday finished and heading home in the AM
Posted 4 months agoHi everyone!
Nearly a year since my last journal, I really need to work on being more active rather than lurking in the background. This week was nice as a holiday, only had one day of rain this week then sunny days, today and tomorrow are meant to be rather hot here in the UK so I didn't do the Scafell Pike walk as I was planning to today.
I did however manage to tackle The Old Man Of Coniston and Grisedale Pike as completed fell walks, I tried to do Redpike and High Stile last Sunday but got rained off before I could reach the final summit path. The fell walks I managed to do have shown me that my fitness HAS improved, but I still have a ways to go yet!
But back home tomorrow and returning to work on Monday followed by the gym, but I have been fiddling with an Ordnance Survey app on my phone and seeing some of the lovely comments from the images I've been uploading this week has got me thinking I should really take the time during the weekends to get out and about around the area I live and/or take a mini holiday now and then and explore some more of the South West for photography holidays.
But this week has been fun and much needed, thanks again to all of those that have just started watching me, along to those that are still watching, faving and commenting on my uploads. Its very much appreciated and gives me the motivation to keep uploading.
Thats pretty much all for now, I need to finish packing my gear then early night as I intend on hitting the road by 5am to get ahead of the rush hour traffic before the M6 and M5 turn into carparks!
Take care all *hugs*

So back home and back to reality .. ish
Posted a year agoSo I came back home a couple of weeks ago now, thanks again to all those who watched or have watched and faved some of my uploads, it was wonderful seeing the comments and understanding I still have some knack with a camera.. even if some of the shots didn't come out quite how I liked them.
But anyway, back home and back in the routine of work/eat/sleep but with a twist, recently I joined up to a gym and had my induction this evening to work out what/how/why with the instructor which was fun. I start in earnest on Wednesday with a goal to lose some weight and get my health back where I think it should be, my goal for doing this is to get out more at the weekends and get more photography work in. So health and hobby improvement, sounds like a win-win right?
Wish me luck! Its been .. quite some time since I ventured into a gym but after seeing myself in the mirror and creeping deeper into my 40's I have motivation to DO something about it now rather than just do it as a side hustle/hobby.
Anyway, figured I should update my journal a little more and actually be more active on here, not sure what else I'll journal about but hey .. its a start back to where I used to be, when I was a happier and derpier person :P
Thats all for now! Thanks again for all the faves and such and if anyone fancies a chat, i don't bite :)

Heading home tomorrow
Posted a year agoAfter 5 days on holiday I'm ready to go home, I miss my bed and the regularity of home life. Don't get me wrong this break was very much needed and I've enjoyed every moment of it, but I'm ready to head back South. After hiking just over 26 miles in 5 days, which to some may not sound alot .. but my legs and lower back haven't been overly happy since I got back in from Ennerdale yesterday.
The weather is forecast for high winds and heavy rain this afternoon and into tonight, so I spent this morning visiting a cafe and gift shop at Honister Pass which was roughly a 3 hour round trip. The rest of the afternoon I'll spend packing and relaxing for the 300 or so mile drive back home tomorrow. Last night I was planning on one last hike tomorrow then to come back home on Saturday, but with my legs and back the way they feel now.. I don't fancy driving home on Saturday with aching legs.
I hope everyone has enjoyed the pictures I've uploaded and thanks again to all my new watchers, I think this holiday has been a success and I'm hopeful I'll be able to keep doing photography when I get home as an aside from my usual work/eat/sleep routine .. wish me luck, as I might well need it!

On holiday (Already?!)
Posted a year agoSo here I am on the first day of my holiday and after walking nearly 5 miles on day one over two walks I've come to two conclusions .. the first is I should have done this years ago and the second is damn I'm out of shape! My legs and paws are a little sore but I have this strange feeling, could it be accomplishment?! Gasp! I'e done something rewarding other than work?!
I'll be doing some more walks and will be uploading more images, thank you to all those who have watched me in the past and I hope you enjoy the images. Any fellow photographers out there who want to share any pointers/tips I'd appreciate it, since its been nearly 7 years since I've handled the DSLR and it took a good few dozen shots to get back into the swing of things, but I think I'll need to keep brushing up on those skills!
Thats all for now, I need to work out some easier walks tomorrow .. and check the weather since it rained on and off most of today

Still active, I think!
Posted a year agoSo another birthday just crept up and bit me in the tail today, grey muzzle getting greyer but another year ticked off with not much in the way of my hobby for photography rekindled .. BUT and in sudden news *dun dun duun* I'm actually going on holiday in the next few weeks, for the first time in what must be 7 years. The plan is that I'll be revisiting the Lake District which should force me to start walking and taking photos.
Updates as and when they occur, but I'm still alive and kicking.. just buried under too much work which may, or may not be my own doing.
That's all for now from a lurking Wusky and has it really been over 2 years since my last journal .. oof .. sorry! *wags*

Rekindling my hobby of photography
Posted 3 years agoSo here I am again, it has been a somewhat wild ride the past 6 months and those who know me well enough will know what I've been going through and I'd rather not bring it up on this journal. But in a nutshell I've experienced loss and alot of stress so I've done what I usually do and have buried myself in work, I recently reapplied for membership with the National Trust which gives free entry to their sites.
This morning was a perfect morning, not too hot and not too cold. So figured I would drag my dad out for a drive and a walk around Stourhead Garden. It felt strange holding my camera and taking pictures but I think it has rekindled my love of photography, although I think I need to do some catching up with theories as its been a good few years since I uploaded anything meaningful.
If there are any fellow furs in the UK, let me know if you have any fave spots for photography and walks. I'm based in the South West but would consider driving to places to check things out :)
Thats about it for now, say hi if you like in the comments as I've been lurking for the past few years.. would be nice to catch up with some of my friends on here :)
Hugs

Another year, another candle on the cake
Posted 4 years agoGood evening all,
A somewhat late journal for my birthday yesterday .. 39 years of derp, getting closer to a big number *wiggles ears* but things are going well. I've found myself lurking more and more on here and not actually uploading anything of late, I keep saying to myself I'll do it somewhen soon but that soon never seems to come around.
I think most of the problem is having been buried in work for the past couple of years, I've managed to climb up the ladder a little more at my place of work and found myself in a management position which is great in one way, but the responsibilities and duties that come with that title have been a little overwhelming at times.
Life is starting to get better again, I have plans and ideas which I need to work on for the future (Insert adult stuff here) which I need to crack on and get sorted out by next year! Hopefully and here I go again, I'll find the time .. motivation and interest in getting back behind my camera again, I miss uploading photography and getting some feedback from it, some of the photography and images I've seen recently have left me in awe on FA and I do want to get back into it.
But I digress .. another year ticked off and i'm still here, honest! I might not be as active as I used to be and apologies for those that I've grown somewhat distant from, still love all my friends very much and would love to hear from you guys sometime, even if its a brief hello etc :)
Take care all and stay safe!
Much love
