With all the recent things I've been subjected to, yes I'm fully aware that I should just suck it up and take it like everyone else, I'm finding it a little difficult to get back into making art.

I feel like my activity here has stalled hard enough that I don't really know what to do with my page. At the moment, I'm just atoning for my crimes by uploading the stuff I deleted, but after that I'm just going to... Stop...

I'm not finding the motivation to draw. Well not quite. I'm itching to get back into it but... I just don't know what to do next. I have a few ideas, but I don't think any are worth developing into something to post here.

I even had a few large scale trial projects, like a literature slot to be raffled off or an adoptable series, but I don't think any of that is where your interests lie when you come to take a look at my page. If you even still visit anyway...

Hmm... A raffle... Interesting...

Ok. things seem to have settled enough for now that I can start to return back to this. Forewarning, this is a little venty.

This is both an admission of guilt and an apology.

The recent events in my life have stretched who I am as a person to beyond breaking point.
Some of those events had provided an introspective into just how wicked and vile I had become.

Long story short, I quit my job.
Working 10+ hours a shift as a waitress / Cafe all-rounder with barely a break wasn’t worth the $300 a month.
If you’re scratching your head at how I wasn’t making enough to live on, good. I am too.

And I would be out on the streets, starving without government assistance.
But that bought it’s own problems. A story for another time.

It made me a very bitter person, even if it could not be seen on the surface.

Fear. Paranoia. Anger.
I felt like everyone I spoke to had an angle. A reason they were interacting with me, they wanted something I had.
And I had very little to give.
I was waiting for people who I was becoming closer with to me to stab me in the back like some had done before.
I could not trust anyone.
Still... Can’t.

I can’t even believe the words of encouragement people leave on my art here.
I dismissed it all as another attempt at manipulation.
Furthering their goals using the pieces of mine. Setting me up to fail yet again.

Fast forward to just last week and the relative I live with goes into hospital for emergency surgery.
I’m informed it’s a routine thing, appendix removal.
Supposedly went 'routine' as well.
I worked my last shift at the cafe and on my way home, my neighbour informs me that overnight my relative’s heart had stopped 8 times.
She’s in the ICU in an induced coma.
And the hospital couldn’t be fucked calling me about it.
Even being next of kin, emergency contact… whatever.

Things… are going better for now.
She’s expected to make a decent recovery over the next few weeks.

Art had become the only thing positive in my life in the last two years.
The only thing that would get better, evolve and not have any catastrophic failures.
Yet…

I treat this hobby like crap.
Holding unreasonable expectations, deleting previously posted art just because I felt it wasn’t good enough for my followers.
Thought it would be some form of salvation. Obsessed with improving.

I am a disgusting person.
And I deserve all the suffering I have been through.

So... I wasn't lying about my ability to find out when my art is posted elsewhere. And especially when I haven't done it myself. I think a few of you know what was reposted, and by who, and where you found it. I won't reveal any of that info publicly. Put the pitchforks away, they're not in trouble.

I'm a solid believer in learned skill. Natural talent isn't a real thing. You're simply shaped into your craft, trade or diploma purely by learning it and developing passion & motivation for the subject.
Sometimes however that skill needs to be tested. Not as in a simple and sweet little quiz, I'm thinking a fish out of water kind of thing. I've gotten used to digital art.

My Pc fried itself playing too much cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing. My drawing tablet has a hole in it and the pen is in another dimension. Don't. Ask. It was a wild weekend.
And so I must resort to blowing the dust off of my art books, and pick up a pencil to make art while I wait for my completely fictional excuse to do things traditional resolves itself!

To effectively fix this predicament, I'll need to draw a headshot of a character. But which one? That's up to you! It is a vote after all!

So Easter is coming early and I have an eggcellent idea for it! Too bad, I left it in Schrodinger's box with the cat. I have tried to include my watcher's input in things before and with mixed results, so consider this a similar attempt but with more anonymity to encourage people to join in. Is... Short.
I don't think that many people realize just how short it is for us humans.
Imagine how short it might be for animals. Our pets... Our... Family.

All life in the end is finite... Painfully so.

Today... I watched one of my beloved pet- No... A member of my family, pass on.
It... Is something that is now burned into my memory. An image I simply can't forget.
An experience that even I can't describe what it's like to see...
Only those who have witnessed an event like that can ever truly know.

Every spark of life shapes the world upon which we stand on. No matter how bright it shines,
no matter the size and shape of the creature it came from.
He leaves behind a little sister that too is also mourning his loss.
The acknowledgement of death and loss is not a distinctly human trait...
Everything... Feels the impact. In their own way.


I... Have to be the bigger sister for her. My apartment and all lives within is currently my sole responsibility
while the relative I live with endures a six week hospital stay.
I have already failed once today. I... Will. Not. Let anymore lives be lost while this home is in my care.

Been looking over places like DeviantArt, Inkbunny, E621, A few startups I have an account on etc.
I know the dead bird formerly known as twitter is effectively the wild west and prone to AI scraping your art so it's an absolute no.

I mean, I've put in the effort to learn all this and I'd rather not have some software engineer pose as an artist by feeding my work to a machine...

So, if you read my new year goals journal you'll know that I have a ton of things I want to attempt by the end of the year. By chance, a blind leap and a mistake, one of those is complete!

I'm now the owner of a Lenovo Legion T5 gaming Pc. How? I went looking for a new office chair. TLDR, chair sold out. PC on sale. First actual desktop pc that wasn't old, inherited, salvaged or otherwise acquired. It's well... mid? I mean the LEDs on it make it look like it's overcompensating for something. Who even has LEDs anyway!? Aren't they consuming power that I'd rather have going to my graphics card? If I designed a gaming pc, it would have an industrial style, function over flair. Get down to business kind of thing. Selling point? The build components, nothing else. No... I'm not a nerdy girl...

But hopefully I'll get about... 10 years out of it? We'll see. There's room to upgrade it if I learn how. Can't be too hard, just switch out components, make sure they're compatible... Don't snap your RAM in half etc. Need some time to set it up and give the old mare a good send off. She'll be my laptop backup. For a casual weekend or travel. She's still good to keep. But I'll be using the new Pc for my art and the games of course.


By the way, any computer nerds out there? Should I keep it in the open or in the pc compartment of my desk? I'm worried about dust buildup and ventilation... And what's a cost effective method of keeping it clean?

Of course all this program installing and file transferring is going to affect the 3 part latex hypno drone sequence I'm working on... But hey, that's a secret and nobody reads these so it's not spoiled or anything~ ;P

I do have a smaller project to work on in the meantime, but I'm not sure if I should upload each part separately or all together as one sheet... It's an 'impawsible' dilemma. Hint hint~

You will be pleased to know that my rather loyal wacom tablet no longer resides by the window I planned on throwing it out of and is an important tool in my creative arsenal. It now lives in it's own designated space on a cupboard. it has not paid any rent for that space... yet... And don't get me started on the wild parties it throws... Tangents and humanization of mundane objects aside... It's time for a few updates and goal setting.




New Way of Doing Things

Juggling my waitress job with it's early starts and random shift schedules with a hobby with the intent of turning it into something close to a professional thing in some way is for me at least quite tiring. I often feel like in order to balance my mood with my art and not starve I need to make more day in my day. Which in itself isn't healthy. lack of sleep, High intakes of caffeine... All the bad stuff. There's about 30mg of caffeine per coffee shot and I'm pretty sure my average per day was 200mg. Trust me. I make cappuccinos for a living.

So from now on, finished art will be uploaded when it's done. which means it could be a week or two between posts. But the benefits mean I get to live healthy and put more effort into making it look even better!


New Things to Learn

Feral Characters

I have a rather large... Pound... Cage? Kennel! Of feral characters that I'm mostly unable to draw. I can to some degree but I really would like to learn how to draw them properly. I often feel guilty about owning a huge number of character designs and since commission budgets have become tighter, I can't freely commission others to draw them. in other words the perfect excuse to learn! So I'm on the hunt for materials, tutorials and examples to learn. If you know of, or have made some really informative ones I want to know!


Males and Masculine Bodies

Hey boys~ It's your time to shine this year. I have a few male characters but they suffer the same fate as my animal Ocs. I seem to struggle with torso and genitalia the most since it's different to what I'm used to. But learning how to work with them will prove beneficial. F-for... Science!? O-of course! So I'm on the hunt for materials, tutorials and examples to learn. If you know of, or have made some really informative ones I want to know! And no. You didn't just read the same line twice. It's that head injury from when you hit your head that time back in high school... >_>



New Projects

As someone with a fairly creative outlook on life, I have many ideas and projects in my mind and in sketches with many more being created day to day. So a bit outside of art, I would like to focus on my worldbuilding projects. I have three-ish somewhat established already with a forth and fifth as fragmented ideas and characters. This year, I plan to work further on them, expand their lore, make them more cohesive and add some visuals like maps and scenery concepts. At least one day a week to improving and writing for them. Outside Stuff

Outside of art and creativity I want to hopefully save up for a nice desktop gaming rig to replace my trusty laptop which I run almost everything off of. Had the old thing for 8 years and it's time for a replacement. The , , and keys no longer type and she likes to blue screen when I turn away.

I also want to fix the more... Private problems in my life and get rid of some of the shackles around my paws...

I found a weird 'feature' of this site with that. It turns out that FA likes certain, words. Words that if you place in the description, NOT the bit that controls the tags / keywords of the submission, the site just decides to use that word as a tag anyway...

So tell me, how many of you frequent the keyword 'Adopt' in your searches? Take a look at that submission's tags and see if it's there. It's not. But if you search through the adopts on here, you'll find it. Why?

Because I used my words and vocabulary. And considering the adoptable market on here I can only conclude that's where all the interest came from. While the extra eyes seeing my work is nice, I can't help but feel like it's an exploit. No other work in my gallery has anything close in terms of stats so I feel like it's misleading and certainly not normal.

I'll leave it up for now but still, I did find this silly thing interesting! I wonder what other words it picks up?

The closing weeks of 2023, a time of gift giving, chaos, celebration and reflection...

Step into my time machine for a sec. Let me take you back to an evening on the 15th of January 2018...

I was staying at a relative's farm in the countryside. Summer holidays. (the southern hemisphere that is) Just helped feed the horses. And was watching the local tv broadcasts. Still to this day, I don't know why but I picked up a lined notebook and a pencil. Guess this city girl was just that bored I guess...

That was when I drew the first piece of my first ever OC, The Iron pawed lady, Luna.
And no. you won't find that doodle in her gallery. But I still have that notebook...



Fast forward a year and a bit into the middle of a college Barista and coffee making class. it's vocational training technically, but I was doing while still in high school. I had to extend my study for an extra year to add these courses in. A fellow class member asked me to doodle something for them after seeing me draw before class. I drew a red haired wolf-girl. Who would later become The Sly seamstress, Akane, Luna's younger sister.

Think I lost that piece of paper unfortunately...



Let's skip to 2019 and about 5 art books in and possibly 100 loose art doodles. I made it my mission to improve my art since I first started. Practiced every day for a solid year. While looking for a job. And by now I started with Furry art. I've been lurking in the community for a while on my old account. commissioned a few artists, bought a few adopts. One in particular was the design that would become Hex... It's... the only design I've connected with on such a deep level.



Now to this year. June 2023. I abandoned my old account. All the rep I had acquired. watchers. everything. Wanted to start fresh. Wanted to do something for myself. Wanted to become an artist. And so Hyaenidhex became my username and my new profile. Posted two of my best traditional artworks at the time and...

Nothing. No one was interested...

Years. Years of hard work. I thought I was going ok. But sharing my work put everything into perspective. My hard work and dedication to this hobby... Was mediocre. I gave up. Until September.

In September, I spent $119 on a cheap digital art tablet. Last one in stock. A pure impulse buy. And I swear, it was a learning curve. The horrific abominations I first made... It was completely alien to me. Someone used to pencil and paper. But I persevered. I extended the time I was awake to accommodate practicing with this new toy of mine. I was waking up 2am, practicing art. going to work at 6am. coming back at 4pm. practicing more until 10pm. Then falling unconscious. even at my desk.

But the results of this nightmare, can be found in my gallery. A comparison between both my old traditional work and my new digital art. I got used to using the tablet. I practiced making my poses look better. I got confident in my skills and in drawing more than just a half body.

Now, I'm working on the next artwork to upload to my gallery! I'm typing this in a bit of a break time~

Yep. I started with nothing more than a lined notebook and a HB lead pencil. And look at where I am now. Not far from whence I came, but feel like I'm on the right track now.

The main take away from this recount is that anyone can make art. There's no mention of an art class or anything of the like because I never took one. I learnt simply through trial and error. And my message to anyone who might see this and be interested or inspired or whatever, just go and do it. Your first attempt is almost guaranteed to be crap. That's not the point. It's whether or not you take a look at it, see where you went wrong, where you can improve and try again. Don't look at where you are now, but where you want to end up. And it goes for every endeavor a human may undertake.

Never be afraid of failure. Be afraid of never failing.

It's funny how once silly, pointless ideas seems to hit it off over here... I'm talking about my both of my Nightstalker doodles, which I honestly didn't even think would be worth the upload buuuut... Here we are I guess.


The pair of them rate well within my highest faved work. Why do I even go through stats anyway... I don't really care all too much, I just draw what I feel like and post it. but when the faves in the notifications section goes over the display I just tend to want to look at an actual number and not a list of names to sift through to count them all...

I'm still very much small fry in the art department, and very forgettable, but every little win is still a win right? Doesn't matter if you gain 5m or 5cm you still gain. I really need to start thinking like an artist... (Those numbers are 16 ft & 1.9 inch respectfully for those who speak in freedom. I joke. Americans are fine~ ;p)

Now to the main event! How about a little interactive activity!

I'm collecting ideas, themes and the like for the next little doodle to smooth out the wrinkles in my visual cortex and cleanse my visual palette.

Character will be the one and only Hex, As the Nightstalker mom.


Anything goes as long as it meets the following

- Must involve the main character only (sillouettes and chibis allowed for the purpose of the idea, Oc inserts are fine too but must have a visual reference or really detailed description... like a paragraph or more)

- Must fit a half-body or a pose that hides most of the body

- Must not be too complex

- Must not contain too many objects or background features

So... I went through the stats of my submissions. In hindsight, it's like I discovered what happened to Schrodinger's cat. Which is very much alive and well. Thanks for asking~

I noticed that pretty much the entire sum of my Sfw art is completely eclipsed by the 2 Nsfw images I've done!? I mean it's not bad or anything, I'm actually quite surprised at how well received they are, especially the one with Akemi! Since in my opinion I can't draw genitalia to save my life...

But what it does do is paint what I thought what was honestly ok in a different light.

So the question I'm asking is: which do you prefer? Sfw or Nsfw. And why?

& why are you all SO horny!!?
