Important information about the internet and its future.
Posted 10 years agoIts been a while since ive posted a journal but I really think this is important for others to know.
In about 7 days the FCC will vote on rules that use Title II to protect Net Neutrality.
This is important because Title II classification protects net neutrality by regulating against against paid prioritization.
Paid prioritization is a subversion of net neutrality through allowing ISPs to discriminate between websites’ data. If allowed, ISPs could charge content providers, the most common example being Netflix, and Youtube, to deliver data to customers through a so-called “Internet fast lane.” In reality the fast lane is going to be what you are getting today though they will be charging twice the cost for it, and you will get the equivalent of dial-up speeds for what you are paying today.
An ISP could slow down its competitors' content or block political opinions it disagreed with. ISPs could charge extra fees to the few content companies that could afford to pay for preferential treatment relegating everyone else to a slower tier of service. This would also destroy and stifle little start up company’s that we all love so much.
Net Neutrality lowers the barriers of entry for entrepreneurs, startups and small businesses by ensuring the Web is a fair and level playing field. It’s because of Net Neutrality that small businesses and entrepreneurs have been able to thrive on the Internet. They use the Internet to reach new customers and showcase their goods, applications and services.
ISPs are by definition the gatekeepers to the Internet, and without Net Neutrality, they will seize every possible opportunity to profit from that gatekeeper control. Without Net Neutrality, the next Google being built in a garage somewhere will never get off the ground.
The ISPs have many politicians in their pockets including the FCCs Chairman Tom Wheeler who was venture capitalist and former head of the National Cable Television Association (NCTA) and Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA).
As of recently they have actually been playing commercials on TV saying how being classified as Title II is bad and will raise taxes and cost you money. Which is bullshit, they are trying to kill the one thing that has stood in their way and that is the people. If they can get people to complain then nothing will stop them.
With the deck so heavily stacked on their side the only thing that has really stood in their way is the public outcry that they have gotten so far. That is why it is imperative that we speak up. I have already contacted my congressmen and said my piece..
And even if you don't feel comfortable contacting them, or speaking up at least repost this, copy and paste it. Steal it and share it I don't care just make sure word gets out. indigo_the_cat ^.=.^ but thats because in reading his journal he pretty much covered everything.
Our sheppie roommate
atfgunner is finally moved/moving out, and going to live in Arizona with his family.
My roomie indigo_the_cat and I are looking for another roommate to replace him also 
sorriz is also our roommate, but he's living here absentee and is just paying rent.
If you decide to replace him, you will take over his lease (which ends in August), but we are both staying for at least one more year, so you could take over his lease before it's up, or just move in August 20th when the next "year" of lease begins.
The leases are individual as well, so for instance say, if I were to just randomly leave and stop paying rent, you would NOT be responsible for my rent. You will only ever pay the 4 hundred some a month that you signed the lease for. My roommie and I are quite laid back ourselves, and don't get too finicky so long as if you really make a mess, you clean it up.
We will accept furries of any gender, sex, and sexual preference. If you are just a furry "ally," that's fine, too. ^.=.^ We are very laid back and would like to keep the laid back theme here, like I personally like to wear collars and usually walk around here wearing mine hehe. Also if you want to move in the living room is already furnished but if you have something to add we can make room/ re-organize also feel free to play my game systems. ^.=.^ (As long as you don't delete my save files lol feel free to make your own tho)
The current rent is $419 per month; this does not include the utility bills. There is free WiFi, but you can pay for your own faster connection if you desire. There is heating and air conditioning, a washer and dryer, full kitchen with a dishwasher, two full bathrooms, two living rooms, a patio, and a 2 car garage with a driveway which has room for 2 more cars outside of the garage. You can also park on the street, since free permits are given for vehicles.
There is a main office area as well a short walk away from our town home. There is a swimming pool, hot tubs, outdoor volleyball area, a small workout room with several machines, computers with printers, pool tables, a couple arcade machines, and of course, the free tanning beds. :P While obviously, you wouldn't be around a bunch of furries here, if you like any of that stuff, you will have access to it.

I am in Minnesota now Mankato to be exact, got my own place to ^.=.^ its like a dorm meets apartment type thing and my roommates are furries! I just got my own bed today still have to get a desk and a few other items, and my stuff from California which I should get here real soon.
Its really good to see Minnesota again, tho its much more cold then I remember god there is snow EVERYWHERE!! Its cool tho ive kinda missed it, cant wait to start going to the furmeets here and to finally be home for Christmas. Oh and party with my friends on my Birthday ^.=.^ its the 22nd. Thats all I can really think of for now not much else to say that I can think of.....

So as of right now im stationed in California about to get out next Friday tho ^.=.^ this Dec 10th. I get to be a civilian again hehe and go back to Minnesota. Im really going to miss Cali tho and all the friends I made here. Sadly im going to miss the next PS for the furs here I leave the day before >.=.< *Sadness* but seeing my friends and family back home is a good bonus to the situation.
Checking out of the military is a biotch to do also >.=.< its like a quest for the legend of zelda trying to get all the paper work done.... but when its all said and done I get to start college and finish my time with the Marine Corps, a lot of fun was had but its not for me.
On a side note I started a new game with a game I heard and seen quite few good things about, the name it Minecraft and its extremely addicting if you want to learn more look it up on youtube or checkout there site at minecraft.net im totally addicted ^.=.^
Well until next time... talk to you all laters ^.=.^

Posted 18 years agothings are a little boring here but im still doin good ive started my classes and so far ive taken apart and pu together the M9 pistol, M107 50cal. sniper rifle, and im working on the M16 and the 203 attachment for it now, I love the classes then agian I love taking things apart and putting them back together and I love weapons. also because im going to miss the minnesota state fair (and im a little pissed about that because I never miss it) im going to go to the maryland state fair thats coming up here but anyway ill talk to all you later

Posted 18 years agosup everybody ive been a little busy lately so I havent been logging on too often but ive been doing great im in maryland doing my MOS training for small arms tech. and I just got out of MCT/SOI a couple weeks ago it was fun -^.=.^- I got to throw a handgrenade, fire the 240golf and shoot the 203 a grenade launcher attatchment for the M16A2 service rifle, among many other things but until I get my laptop I wont be logging on to often leave me a message and ill get back to yea

Posted 18 years agoI decided to make a journal entrie not sure what to talk about but ill think of something, things are going good right now I had the weekend off im on recruiters assistance otherwise id be at california right now. I was at Valley fair yesterday it was awsome it was my first time there I think I had a heartattack lol awsome rides. LOL im listining to Dane cook hes a silly biotch, well see yea I think ill do a jurnal every monday or sunday, later.
