Lost at what to think.
Posted 16 years agoI've had a particularly difficult week. Apart from a very dear and important mentor from my teens passing, I've been completely bogged by exams.
But I'm also troubled. What is the most unappealing aspect of my art, or what is a redeeming feature? I've felt so discouraged and feel that my art has... devolved to a certain extent.. especially my furry art.
So question.
What would people like to see? Perhaps it might help me in a direction suitable?

Like 5-6 years.
*How did you find furry?
Actually when I was younger (9 years ago or so) I discovered some galleries of furry art when I first got really involved on the internet, didn't know what it was or that it was a fandom though.
I had always loved the idea of half-humans, half-animals (disney's robinhood, mythology, etc) so when I figured out tons of people were using these kinds of characters as personas, like 6-5 years ago, I had to join in.
*What's your reason for furry(like what interested you to get into the community)?
I like the people, most are awesome people and for the most part insane in the cool way. The art is neat too, the way people choose to represent themselves intrigues me.
*What's Furry to you?
Enjoying the art and portraying myself as this "online/second" persona.
*If someone found out you're a furry and asked you about it how would you respond?
I'll steal hotch's explanation a little because I feel the same way. I feel like I am, for the most part, normal. I dress so, I act so and that furry isn't necessarily a lifestyle, but a hobby to participate in. Not all furries are into the hardcore elicit sexual side of the fandom, and many are just like I, who see it as a way to meet people through a common place of appreciating wildlife, people and art (and consequentially the art that combines animals and people).
*What are your favorite aspects of our community?
The creativity and open-mindedness.
*Do you use any furry terms? (i.e. yiff, paws, murr?)
Ewwww, maybe if I'm drunk and it's appropriately funny/awkward.
*What do you wish furry was NOT associated with?
Stealing this from hotch again: Bestiality and may I say anything to do with the idea of Babyfurs and underage exposure. (It gives pedophiles an out...)
*How strongly do you feel about someone bashing the community as a whole?
It usually offends me because people are so ready to assume things about a "fandom" that they don't know much about. I usually try to interject my feelings about it and mention that furries often get shafted in the way of unfair bias and media coverage. All groups have their weirdos, too bad furs have had the unfortunate privilege to let often the worse people represent us. So, I try to change there conception.
*How strongly do you feel about anyone bashing you yourself for your interest based on the media's aspect of what furry is?
I myself have never been bashed because I like to shed a decent light on what I consider to be the furry fandom. No one ever expects me to be a "furry," much less for me to try to explain it.
There is a wide line between what I enjoy and what, say, another furry decides to indulge in and depending on how severe their taste is... I might decide to join in on some playful joking.
*We all know furries have alot of sexual aspects in this fandom, What's your opinion on it?
I like, love and adore sex. But my ideas of sexual fetishes can be and tend to be very different from what other furries like. Sometimes it's disgusting and disturbing.. and makes me want to consider the inner workings of the odd individual's consciousness... but on the other hand, I can click away from the page and go on with my own business. It also makes me feel better about my own opinion in my sanity.

Rocky Mountain Fur Con 2009
Posted 16 years agoWeee, what a fun weekend. Too bad I'm too deliciously SHY to really push myself out to meet or greet or say hello to strangers, which was like everyone. Though fortunately, in the end, I did meet some awesome Colorado folks... inadvertently through my boyfriend or as a direct result of them saying hi first, or, the alcohol, one of those...
And really, twice on Sunday (which happens to be today), I was asked for my picture in my plain street clothes, no ears, no tail, just as is... really? /confused.
