Back from Vacation
Posted 8 months agoI'm back from my vacation, but I've still got a ton of photos to edit. I'm hoping to have a lot of them ready for upload in the coming weeks, and I'm stoked about them. Don't worry, though. I didn't forget any of the other duties, either. I'll be back to drawing soon. :)
Proto Piracy Q/A illustrations
Posted 10 months agoI'm going to be doing some Q&A style illustrations around the comic after page 27 of the comic. If you have any questions about the world or the characters, feel free to ask them below.
Minor Delays
Posted a year agoLast week, I unfortunately ran into a hard drive failure which caused a significant slowdown in my system. I've spent the past week trying to get back up and running, but then hurricane Helene kinda knocked out my power for around 36 hours and pushed back a lot of the progress I gained. Fortunate for me, this relatively minor inconvenience was the worst I experienced and I'm exceptionally grateful for that. However, all of this has caused a slight delay in the comic, which I haven't had much time to work on in the past week. I should be able to get back to working on it this week, though. :)
Where else to find me
Posted a year agoI am happy FA is back up and running, but in case this happens again, I wanted to remind everyone you can find me on various other platforms. I upload my images here on FA, but I also upload them to Inkbunny, e621 and Furry Network (though FN sometimes runs into errors with my uploads and I cba to fix them right away). I also have a discord that I will be opening up once I get my SS and Patreon online, but that might take a while (at least until I finish this comic and have time). Hope you all enjoy the site being back online (I know I will). :)
Thinking About Doing Comissions
Posted 2 years agoI've been thinking about doing commissions but want to push out some content to try and drive some attention toward it. What sort of art would you guys like to see?
Signal Boost
Posted 5 years agoI know I don't write journals too often, and I'm not that prominant on this platform, but please check out this artist. I randomly came across one of their pieces and they have way too little watchers for the quality of their art. This isn't for some giveaway or lotto (i don't need any art). This is just trying to spread the word of an underexposed artist with incredible skills. I hope my meager influence (if there is any at all) can help compel some to at least check them out.

Mystery_GlowwormsMandatory Recognition of Absence: An Explination
Posted 5 years agoTL;DR: Shit's been closed and it sucks.
Apologies for the lack of activity. Due to this pandemic, I haven't had much luck in terms of photography since all the zoos around my area are either temporarily closed or have policies in place which make it more difficult to get the shots I want (the NC Zoo has totally shut down their aviary for the time being). Even a lot of national parks are locked down so I can't even do any camping. Plus, wildlife/animal photography in the summer has always been more difficult due to the heat. It's not only uncomfortable for me (which I'm fine with as long as I get a good photo), but it's uncomfortable for a lot of the animals. They become more reclusive and stay in areas which make them more difficult to see. All this makes it more difficult to convince myself that waking up early on a weekend, driving 1.5+ hours to get on location, spending the entire day sweating, and having trouble breathing with a mask over my face while hiking with 30+ lbs of equipment to get lackluster shots is even worth it. Hopefully my photography will pick up more in a few months when it starts to cool down, the animals are more active, and (god willing) we restrictions start reducing. In the mean time, I plan on doing more digital art. I have a few ideas and will try to post a new piece once every 2 weeks (although, this goal is optimistic and very likely to change).

100 Watchers!
Posted 6 years agoEdit: Just noticed I don't actually have 100 followers, but I have had over 100 people follow me. I wrote this when I saw the notification bar at the top of the website hit 100 watchers, not when my list of current watchers said 100. I think this is a result of some people either unwatching me or deleting their account, but me not deleting the entries in my notifications.
Thank you guys so much for all the support you have given me over the years! As I've always said, it means the world to me knowing you guys enjoy the work I do and it's you guys who help drive me to improve. You have made all the difference for me on this site, and I can't thank you enough for that. <3
Obviously, most of my photos are of animals because they are fun to shoot and you guys seem to enjoy them. Plus, I've heard some people even use them for reference material (which is fantastic to hear. If you ever do that, please let me know. I would live to see your work :3). However, I'll be experimenting with a new genre of photography soon (hopefully I will have the first shot uploaded by next month). Don't worry, it won't be replacing all of the fluffy critters you see infesting my gallery. In fact, it will probably only be the occasional photograph (maybe once or twice a month). However, my concern is that my photography will become too repetitive. This is why I plan on taking photos of something other than animals. But again, and I can't stress this enough, there will still be plenty of wildlife photography to come.
Secondly, I want to stream more frequently. If you are unaware, my streams are consisted of me editing my photos and explaining my post processing (and of course to chat with you lovely people :3). They are also a place for other photographers to come together to share their work. If you ever see a journal of mine announcing I am streaming, please stop on by and say hi. I love chatting with you people and seeing what you guys are doing. :3
Again, thank you guys so much for all you have done. Here's to the next 100! <3

Photo Requests
Posted 6 years agoHeading to the NC zoo tomorrow. Any requests on what you want me to shoot? :3
Image Size Question
Posted 6 years agoI try to upload the largest possible size images I can to ensure you guys are able to view the highest resolution possible, but FA isn't designed to work with images that are 5184 or 6720 pixels wide so if you click on the image to enlarge it, it breaks the layout of the page. This means if you want to see the image in full resolution, you need to click download.
Since I upload these pictures for you guys, I wanted to ask if you prefer the larger images or if you would be fine with the standard 1280x853 resolution?

A Brief Rant On The Name "Super Blood Wolf Moon Eclipse"
Posted 7 years agoThe words "Blood" and "Wolf" mean absolutely jack shit in terms of naming conventions and supermoons are not as special as people think they are.
The "blood" part refers to the red hue the moon gets during an eclipse (a by-product of the earth's atmosphere filtering out the other colours, similar to how a sunset turns the sky orange), but it's just there because it sounds cooler than "total lunar eclipse." Total lunar eclipses produce these warm colours every time because that's how they work. There is no need to have the word "blood" in this word salad of a name.
The word "wolf" in this context refers to it being the first full moon on the year, but, in my opinion, it's just a way to make it seem more special than it actually is. There was a full moon last month, and the month before that, and the month before that. "Wolf" moons are not special.
Finally, a supermoon is when the moon is at it's closest approach to the earth. The difference in size (~7%) is indiscernible to the human eye when compared to the average moon. If someone didn't tell you, you would never know it was a supermoon. It simply doesn't matter.
I think the point of the name "Super Blood Wolf Moon Eclipse" is to generate as many clicks as possible on news articles and various other websites, similar to the word salad you see on Amazon listings (those posts which have as many words tacked onto them to catch any sort of filter). I have no idea why they can't be happy with just saying "Total Lunar Eclipse." It's an awesome event which does not need pseudo hype to make it more exciting.
Anyway, that''s just my opinion. Does anyone else feel the same way or is it just me getting annoyed for no reason?

Confessions of Gratitude
Posted 7 years agoThis is something which has been on my mind for quite some time, but I wanted to wait for Thanksgiving to make this post (as I thought it would be fitting).
I made it a personal goal of mine early on to ensure I express my gratitude to every person who is kind enough to show their appreciation of my work by either favoriting one of my submissions or watching me (if I'm lucky, both). At first, I started off with a simple "thanks for the fave," but quickly decided against it. To me, a true expression of gratitude necessitates a meaningful, well thought out message and it seemed cheap and halfhearted to just say "thanks for the fave." I'm not saying people who say this aren't sincere, just that it didn't accurately convey the how thankful I am to someone. I didn't want the same copy-and-paste response, where the person who had (maybe unknowingly) done so much for me. As a result, I began to not only thank them, but also explain how much it means to me when someone favorites a picture of mine or watches me. However, after thanking hundreds of people, I seemed to have fallen into the same issue I started with, except it's now longer. The following is usually what I post to someone's page after a favorite or watch:
"Hey, man. I wanted to stop by and thank you for favoriting my picture. It means a lot to me seeing that other people enjoy my work and it's simple things like that which keep me doing what I do. :3"
If you remember my post to your page, it probably looked almost identical to this. This was a result of dozens of revisions, carefully constructed to show you guys how much I appreciate your kindness and really does accurately represent my feelings. While I still type out every word, it's become repetitive and seems procedural. Because of this, I must apologize.
Thank you all for your support. Like I say in those posts, I don't know whether or not I would still be doing photography if it were not for the support of every one of you.

New Hobby: Flying
Posted 7 years agoSo, I did this today:
If you go to the YouTube page (just click the title of the video), you can watch two other video in a playlist. The second video is me halfway through the run, and the third is me landing. :3
I'm hoping to eventually get good enough to bring camera equipment with me and take some pictures.

No Lunar Eclipse Photos from me. ;n;
Posted 8 years agoIf you followed me because of my solar eclipse photos in 2017, I am sorry to announce I will be unable to take photos of the total lunar eclipse. This is because I live in North Carolina the eclipse won't reach totality until after the moon has set. Furthermore, the little bit of the eclipse I will be able to see occurs so close to the horizon, I doubt I will be able to see that either. ;n;
I Graduated
Posted 8 years agoI don't post journals too often on this website, but I'm figured I would give a quick update. Today, I graduated from UNCC with a degree in Computer Science and a focus in Cyber Security. I'll be spending most of my time in the coming weeks focusing on finding a job and getting certified for several things, but for right now, I'm just trying to relax.
I might post some more space themed digital art, but I don't know. I want to challenge myself art wise so I might open up for requests or collabs (if anyone is wiling to do so). Let me know what you guys think. :3

Photography Requests/Ideas
Posted 8 years agoAs you guys know, I love doing nature photography (especially macro photography). I wanted to know if there was anything you guys wanted to see that I haven't uploaded yet.
Also, I got a new lens! It's Tamron's SP 150-600mm Di VC USD G2 lens and I love it, but holy hell is it heavy (~4.5 lbs)! I plan on using it to photograph the solar eclipse in a few weeks and I hope to expand my nature photography with it as well. I might also be uploading some pictures of the moon and maybe some of the sun (I have a $100 solar filter for the eclipse and I need to experiment with it ;3).
Anyway, let me know what you guys want to see photography wise and I'll try to make it happen. :3

Macro Photography Tutorial Upload Tomorrow
Posted 8 years agoSometime tomorrow, I will be uploading a tutorial showing how I take high-magnification photographs (specifically, the past few macro shots I uploaded). Let me know what you guys think of it! :3
Where are thew updates?
Posted 9 years agoI'm sorry I haven't been uploading the rest of my images from my trip. Lately, I have been really busy with College stuff (primarily a cyber defense competition) and haven't had the time to edit my images. Although, after I finish uploading the pictures, it will probably be some time before I upload another set of images since I don't take them too often (usually only when I got on vacation).
No More Spam!
Posted 9 years agoAnd with that, the upload spam is done. I will upload more pictures tomorrow, but they will be new, never before seen images from my latest trip. :3
