The library is asking for donations to help with to restore the library and also add new items for their shelves.

This early morning, a line of very strong thunderstorms in a bow echo came stampeding through my area.

Lightning was going like mad! The wind was bending the trees this way and that! And the rain was like we were in a hurricane! My walls in my bedroom was vibrating that I felt it through my bed frame and mattress!

Thankfully, we kept power, but just a block away and even around us is without power! It was CRAZY!!

My dad had to take several ways just to get home from work, because all of the debris and from the police tape that had been strung out.

THE HIGHTEST WINDS THAT CAME FROM THIS WAS: 103 MPH!!!

And here is the real kicker, this storm happened on the same day as the 20TH ANNIVERSARY of the July 7, Derecho in 1991 that had blasted through town. I still can remember that day. Me, my mom, and my brother were at home and my dad had been at work. It was night time just like the storm that blew through this morning.
THE SKY WAS SOOOOOOOOOO GREEN. GREEN THAT YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE. The wind was howling, rain was coming down like we were under a waterfall and a lightning strike hit our tree and a big branch landed within centimeters of the family car's bumper and the front of our house.

Hey All, with a green thumb

I have a question for you.

I think about from time to time to plant some flowers on an old garage pad in my back yard.
The garage was taken down a few years ago and all that is left cement block base wall and the dirt floor.

So, my question is, can I plant right in that same soil. Or should I remove some soil and put down new dirt before I plant any thing?

The soil in my back yard has the top soil layer, but then its clay underneath that.

Do you have any plant recommendations that would work, with what I have?
