Little Update!
Posted 10 years agoSo I've been a little absent in the furry community lately and I just wanna say I still LOVE being a furry and/or fursuiter as much as always. It's just recently my life has changed drastically and I currently do not have a way to make it to local meets but I hope to have that issue resolved soon when I get my license and a car. Along with that, I also intend to start working very soon, I mean I have been for the last year or more, but I have something lined up that just might work out. *Knock on wood* So I will soon be working as well and shortly after that I plan on going to art school and what come next after that depends on the direction life heads but I sort of hope to end up in New York. While I'm in art school I also intend to take up practicing bass guitar, start a band and perhaps even balance a tattoo artist/piercing job as well. The next few years of my life are going to be really busy but I'm sure I'll be able to make it to events when I have the time. Especially when I am in the area for art school. (Sheridian is my goal.) I just wanted to say that I haven't abandoned it since I've been absent since I use to be one who made it to almost every meet and now I'm barely making it to any. Posted 10 years agoWith my birthday being the literal day before the Thursday of AC weekend, I am so so sad that I can't be there to celebrate it with you all. But it just wasn't in the cards for me. Lack of funds and with the recent loss of my dog, I'm not even sure I'd go if I had the money. But enough about me, I want to talk about you. I hope you all have so so much fun. Have extra fun for me since I wont be there. I wish you luck in your travels and I hope everything works out and you all stay safe and happy. I appreciate every single one of you and welcome new watchers with open arms. It makes me feel really good that you all like my suit enough to watch me and I would love to meet you guys future conventions. Here's hoping for MFF in December and seeing some of y'all there. <3

Posted 10 years agoIt seems things didn't want to work out in my favour so I unfortunately won't be attending Anthrocon. I will definitely see you all at MFF though, if anything changes, ( though I really doubt it) I'll just post the day of leaving for AC iF I end up going. (But again the chances are minuscule.) I'm kinda really sad about it cause the Thursday of AC is the day after my 21st birthday. (July 8th) it sucks so much. I wanted to spend my birthday there. I'll just sleep the entire weekend of AC so I'm not brooding. LOL. Jk. Im really looking forward to MFF now though, and at least it means ill have more money toward my AutumnFallings or Pheonixwolf suit. Regaurding Leaving Or Not

Posted 10 years agoOh man, where to start.
WELL, it started out rocky due to a sudden last minute change of plans, so a lot of time I spent by myself floating around, conversing with people here but that was fun too. The main rockiness came from a lack of ride on Friday. The people I did converse and hang out with from time to time were GREAT. Thank you all for interacting with me even if I'm not the BEST socialite quite yet, lol. The only other downsides were 1) My suit took a little damage from the games. 2) I think I may have blocked a few people in the parade group photo with my wing and it was an accident and I'm really really sorry. 3) I wish I had entered the dance comp. The dance comp, I do plan to enter next year with choreography prepared well in advance. The fursuit games were SO fun, I'm glad I entered. Even if my team only won third. Buttcon was fun as well. And I appreciate ALL the people who told me they loved my suit, and the like. All in all it was a great con and I cannot wait til next year! Furnal Equinox 2015!

The best gift this year is all the fuzzbuts I've met and made friends with this year. Thank you all for befriending this bat. And of course those who watch me on here too. You guys are great. <3

Posted 10 years agoAlright. So these plans are kinda working in steps, so I'll start running through them.
Phase 1: I plan on getting myself a birdcall squeaker because I feel that the sounds it makes, are really similar to the sounds a bat makes. I understand that a lot of people for some awkward reason, will be quick to call "Telephone copy" but I can assure you, that is FAR from my intentions, and I'm not even an Angel Dragon. As I said, it makes sense for a bat to make bat noises, and it will help me bring out my character more as being a silent suiter isn't much fun, and being a talker isn't my thing. :3
Phase 2: I plan to hopefully do some refurb on my suit. I plan to make the ears less side set, and more upward, I plan to fix some markings and make new four-fingered rounded paws. I don't know exactly when this will happen, but most likely/hopefully between now and FE.
Phase 3: THE MOST EXCITING PHASE. I plan, and fingers crossed that I can accomplish this, to get a job, save up 4000-5000 dollars, and get myself an AutumnFallings suit of Salem within the next year or two! Just a little thank you.
Posted 10 years agoI noticed my watcher list is slowly climbing. I'd like to thank everyone who's watching and/or will watch me. It makes me feel appreciated and warm and fuzzy and a very happy batty that you all like my fursuit enough to watch. I appreciated every one of you, and I appreciate those to come as well. <3
I look forward to maybe meeting some of you at potential conventions in the future. And forgive me for the shameless plug here, but I also have a Twitter under SALEM_BAT if you'd like to hear more from me. n///n
I'd also like to give a big thanks to those who make my experience in the fandom a positive one. I have pretty bad social anxiety and a nasty habit of assuming most people are evil, so those who have been nice to me and been there for me to make sure I have a good and non-lonely/awkward time at meets are very important to me. It means a lot to me because while I will never be miraculously cured of my social anxiety, you guys have shown me that I can be a little braver. Thank you all so much. The only complaint I have that makes things a little difficult, is when people mistake me for a female out of suit. But alas, that is the downfall of being a feminine male unfortunately. But I love being a "fem boy" for lack of a better term.

Little update!
Posted 11 years agoI know there's a surprising lack of photo's from Halloween. That's because I didn't take any of my own, and the ones that were taken are not yet posted. But eventually I'll have them up. On the topic of holidays, I can't wait to getting around to doing some Christmas photos. I have a lot of ideas. x3
I'll be attending the FE Christmas party. I'm in the process of making a really cute Christmas outfit for my fursuit to wear, and I plan on attempting to bake cookies for everyone. Kinda sad I wont be at Howl this month though. It's the only month aside from July that I wont be there. Pokemon ORAS comes out and I got priorities. I will be attending actual FE in March. I'm pretty excited for that. That being said, I may or may not participate in the dance competition. I may compete for fun or I may compete seriously. I'm not sure. It depends on what kind of routine I nail down in the coming months. I believe sammypanther, TalonBat, and Atreynu are having a meet on the 29th of this month. I may attend that if I can. I tend to try to go to as many local events as possible. So when one pops up there's a decent chance I'll be in attendance.
My fursuit is in need of repairs at this point in time, and a possible refurb. The only repairs to be made are to the wings where they attach to the arms/body. I think the stitching needs to be a little more reinforced, and to the feet. They got really dirty on Halloween, and they need a second wash. In the process of the first was a paw pad came off, but that's easy to fix. The refurb I'm planning isn't so much necessary, but it will be nice. I don't have any set date for this, but I'm thinking after December. I plan on redoing the ears so they are less side set and a better shape, re-doing the under eye triangles and making them a bit bolder and even, and making new rounder handpaws. I might also re-fur one of the feet, because one of them was done wrong, and I learned the trick when I furred the second one.Fursona Question Thingy.

Salem is a Fruit Bat in every aspect except the tail. He gets the long tail from the Mouse-Tailed Bat. The horns are a out of spices characteristic. Neither bat has them, but I like them so I added it to his design.

Most of the people in my "favourite artists" section.

I have a strange sexuality. I am both sexually and romantically attracted to men, making them preference. But I can be romantically attracted to women. There's no real sexual attraction unless there's love involved. I am very RARELY sexually attracted to a women without a loving relationship involved.

At some point in my life.

I ACTUALLY DO. I'm not even making that up. A few people came up to me at Anthrocon all excited and called me "Sempai." It was the greatest.

Loooots of things. To sum it all up, the unknown and lack of control. I have lots of fears that stem from those two main fears.

Salem, when he even wears clothes at all, dresses the same way I dress/the way I aspire to dress. That's kind of like a mash up between a black and white version of Pastel Goth and Nu Goth. He's also just like me in the aspect he does not care about gender roles and what articles of clothing are for which gender. So you will often find him him dressing "femininely" in over the knee socks and shorts, chokers, things that are apparently "girl things." (They aren't. No clothing is gendered. It's made up. If you like it wear it. Who cares.) I myself wouldn't cross into skirt or dress territory, but Salem might once in a piece of art. But no commonly.

POOOOUTINEEE, pizza, and McDonalds.

Posted 11 years agoTo Midwest Furfest. It's a looot of money to go. I don't think I have that money right now. As of right now I still live with my parents, so I could possibly see if they can fund that trip for me as a Christmas gift seeing as it's in December. But there's also other complications such as when I get a job. I need to save up as much money as possible with a job, while still having enough to spend on personal desires here and there. Taking time off doesn't seem logical at this point in time. I'll still consider it a possibility, but it's mostly a no. I want to have a least close to enough to put toward a house saved up before I start school hopefully in 2015, 2016. Speaking of school I'd like to explain my plans now that I have them sorted out.
I was going to go into graphic design. But I decided I loved art too much to do it as a job and potentially have it lose it's flair and dwindle my passion for it. I still have it as a second option if my first option doesn't work out. I've decided to try to go to university for Zoology. It's a pretty big dream since my academic history is... lackluster to say the least. I don't have my high school diploma, but I can make up the missing credits and/or bump up my existing credit grades, through a program at the university. It's a really big step for me considering my academic past, and I'm proud of myself for going after this. It will be a lot of work, but I'm confident I can do it. It's a job I can see myself doing forever, and my passion for animals since childhood helps. It also helps that it pays 35,000 annually minimum, and 61,000 at best. I'm considering the University Of Guelph as I've been told it is a very animal oriented university and offers a lot of courses pertaining to animals/animal care. n_nI already have Halloween plans. I've decided he's going to be a witch. Because Salem... Witch... BRILLIANT I KNOW. (Pointy hat witches tend to be female, but fuck da police. Salem can be a male pointy hat witch if he wants to.)
I'm going to get a mini witch hat to pin to the hair, a cape, and carry a witch broom. It's going to be the cutest.
In terms of how I hope my Halloween goes:
I want to do like.. everything possible on Halloween. I want to hand out candy to kids in my fursuit for a little bit, I want to trick or treat myself a little bit I don't care if I'm "too old", and I want to go to a furry Halloween meet or a furry Halloween party. I also want to go to Halloween Haunt at Canada's Wonderland, but that's before the actual day of Halloween.
I LOOOOVE Halloween. Halloween decor is everyday decor for me. The only thing I love as much as Halloween, maybe a sliiiight bit less then Halloween is Christmas. Potential fursuit updates + MFF + Islintonmeet/life updates
Posted 11 years agoAlright. So hears the deal. I made my own head for my fursuit. Most if not all know that. (I also made the feet and hands. `s lovely work the rest of the suit, harness, tail, etc.)
I am far from satisfied with my own work. I am hyper-critical of my own work and I see way too many flaws. I'm just not happy with the quality of my work. On top of that the plain resin blanks don't appeal to me. I find my head is far too expressionless and much less toony then I had in mind for my character.
That being said I am more then likely going to commission a head from 
sometime between when I first start my job this month and like.. October tops. I hope to get it before MFF in December.
The style I am going for is that of this head (link below this paragraph). The ears and expression will be similar. The muzzle will most likely be slightly shorter and more bat/chibi like, The hair would be longer, about as long as it is on my current head. Horns, pointed tongue, the medium sized fangs I couldn't do on my current head. And obviously all my characters colours and markings. Nothing in the design is changed.

About MFF:
I'm pretty sure I'll be there. I PLAN to at least. It's just a matter of if everything works out. If we can get a hotel successfully, plane tickets, etc.
If I make it there, I hope to do something a little special. For the first little while I will probably be carrying around either a Halloween pale, or a Christmas pale (Most likely Christmas considering the theme and date, but I do really love Halloween..) full of tiny rubber bats to hand out to people I interact with. Just a little gift to remember me by. x3
Islington Meet/Life updates:
As for the whole new head thing, I WILL STILL be suiting in my head at the Islington meet. Like I said before this, the current head wont stop being used until when/if the other is done and gets here. I will hopefully most likely be going to the Islington meet. I have a job opportunity coming up. My potential workplace said they would call me sometime this month and that I'd most likely be working weekends and nights. So with that being the case, just as long as the dont call me to come in the weekend of the meet, or if they do the allow me to start following the meet, then I will be there for sure. As for what job I'd be doing, I'd be working most likely cash, but potentially supervisor at Shoppers Drug Mart. x3

Upon building my suit, I decided to very minorly change an aspect in Salems design. I'm dropping the tail floof completely. No more tail floof in his design. I like it much better this way.
I'm hopfully going to try to get to MMF in November. Then after that probably nothing aside from local meets and FE2015 and hopfully AC again next year. I wish there was a con like.. every month in close proximity to me. Or that I had enough money to throaw at conventions and get to all of them everywhere.
I failed to update this when it was decided. Salem is in fact a fruit bat, mouse-tailed bat hybrid. This is because I love the faces of fruit bats, not so much the leaf nose on the mouse-tailed bats, but I love the loooong tail that comes with being a mouse-tailed bat. I didn't WANT to put fruit bat in him since it's a common choice, but they just so fucking cute.
Anthrocon 2014 Recap.
Anthrocon was by far worth the money and the 5 hour drive. It was AMAZING. I had the best time and it will surely be missed.
It was a dream come true interacting with all of you, meeting a few of you for the first time. taking photos with you, and meeting my small group of fans as Klentir calls it. I like to joke that I have a cult following. It was a pleasure and certainly a confidence booster. I was beyond ecstatic to meet Telephone, Tayerr/Lamarr(AlbinoTopazz), Shia, and everyone else that I admire in the fandom. I missed a few of you, but maybe we'll see eachother at future cons.
When it comes to suiting, as some of you know, I had a partial suit before I had Salem. Before I changed my fursona. I'm 1000000% glad I did. Suiting before was amusing, but suiting now in a fursona that I connect with so much in terms of species and design is just... wow. Amazing. I don't even know how to put it into words. I felt one with Salem. He was me and I was him. I didn't feel like I was suiting, I felt like I was just... me in the form of a fluffy little bat. (This is not a therian rant, as I am not a therian.) Before it just felt like a costume. This time around it felt like I was brining a whole nother me to life. I was concerned going into about the heat, but once I was "strapped in for the ride" so to speak, I barely noticed until it got realllllly hot and I HAD to take it off. I suited for 20 hours MINIMUM, and I loved every second of it. I suited until I couldn't even walk anymore and it was WERF IT.
Another really big part of the appeal I felt in that suit is the amount of attention I drew in. It was quite a bit, and as a REASONABLE (meaning I wont seek it, but I love when it comes to me) attention whore, I absolutely LOVED it. I love the camera. I'm just really confused about the amount of photos and videos I was in, but I can't seem to find ANY of them aside from the parade videos.
There was one instance I could do without. The few encounters with 2 groups of drunk people. One put their hands on my suit in a way I didn't particularly enjoy, (Trying to fuck up the hair) and the other group insisted it was about sex. How anyone thinks I can have sex in something with huge wings reinforced with PVC pipe, thats hotter then the depths of Satans asshole, I will never know. Aside from that it was all GREAT. The city was friendly and welcoming, and just down right beautiful.
My only regret was the fact that I might not have interacted ENOUGH. I need to work on bringing myself out of my shell more. I need to talk to the people who approach me, rather then saying "Thank you" and making a hasty escape, or pantomiming gratitude. I wish I would've been more open. It's a little difficult dealing with social anxiety because people have and still do continue to wrong me when I establish a sense of trust. Or they send these mixed signals that I'm possibly inturperating wrong. For example, if someone listens to what everyone else has to say, but tunes out when I start talking, I assume they don't care much about me. Or if someone takes photos in a group and tags everyone else, but not me despite having me on FB, I assume I wasn't even wanted in the photo. If someone takes photos of everyone else they know, but not me I assume they don't like me. If someone seemingly purposely puts themselves between me and my SO I assume they don't like me, and want to steal him. (>_>; Stupid yes.) And those are just minor things. The more severe the worse it is. I wish people would be more clear in their intentions, and I also wish I didn't have this problem with jumping to conclusions because then I wouldn't have the problem of worrying that what I do when I open up is being judged. Eventually I will get there. My goal is to be able to openly talk with people and establish friendships easily without worry.
All in all Anthrocon was the time of my life. I was sad to see it end, but I'm looking forward to next year. Maybe next year I'll reach my goal and sort out my social stuffs. n_n
