Geckorona.
Posted 3 years agoI felt horrible at work yesterday and took a COVID test when I got home. It was positive.
Took another one this afternoon as my work administrators said and it was positive too.

Mental health stuff
Posted 3 years agoHoo boy, my mental health has been awful lately. I lost/misplaced something important at work yesterday and it made my brain glitch. I couldn't stop thinking about it and the consequences and repercussions of it. But the thought of my brain glitching out also made me think about Meow Wolf and how badly I want to go there again.
These thoughts just would not leave my head no matter how hard I tried to throw myself into my work, even though I had barely any time for a break today. It's like my new ADHD medication, same as my first one, makes me focus on the EXACT OPPOSITE of what I need to be focusing on.
I'm worried (again) that I'm losing control of my life and I don't know how to get it back. I wish I could just take like a year off to focus on improving my mental health, but I have bills and such to pay, so I have to keep working.
I managed to fall and stay asleep easily last night, even though I didn't sleep as long as I'd hoped.

SAVE THE LAZY FOX!
Posted 3 years agoHi friends!
A couple of furs I know, Dreamer Hyena and Free Fox, run a great little bakery, Lazy Fox Artisan Goods, in a small town in Wyoming. The building is being deeded in lieu of foreclosure so this would allow them to buy it outright.
If you can, please donate to their GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/9fb7a64e
Let's support a furry-owned business!

I'm the bad guy.
Posted 5 years agoI hate how I'm always the only one at every place I live who forgets so many little things to do around the house like flushing a toilet or leaving socks or shoes somewhere. I don't know why I do this and that makes it worse.
I also can't watch a show or movie without doing something on my phone, whether it's chatting, playing a trivia game, or reading a Wikipedia or TVTropes article about what I'm watching.
Do I have ADHD or something? I do a great job of organizing things, managing my time, and staying on task at work. It's why I'm being considered for a promotion.
I talked about this with my psychiatrist but I under-reported my symptoms by saying "sometimes" for so many of them when he gave me an ADHD test. I'll have a new health insurance plan next year so maybe I'll change psychiatrists and they can help me out with this.
But I don't want to be on any more pills. I think I'm on one too many but I'm just afraid of telling my doctor that.

Help me out with a fundraiser?
Posted 5 years agoHi friends,
It's been a long time since I posted anything here. I'm hanging in there. Trying to, at least.
You know I've been through so many ups and downs with my mental health and sometimes those downs can be really expensive. Last July I had a terrible mental health crisis while at work and had to be taken to the hospital. After several months of waiting, last month I finally received an itemized bill for the overnight stay in the ER. Thankfully I was able to get it reduced by several thousand dollars, but I still owe about $4300.
If you could support my Free Funder (http://ffnd.co/B3Cfrg) by making a donation and then sharing it with your network, I would greatly appreciate it. I know that money can be tight, so please know that even $5 helps me get closer to my goal! Let me know if you have any questions and Iβll be happy to answer them.

I reduced my anxiety attacks with one simple change!
Posted 6 years agoFor the past several months I was having anxiety attacks on the mornings of my work days. I work a really stressful job and my psych prescribed me some meds just to take on those days. But I wondered if I could do something different to reduce my anxiety attacks.
It dawned on me a couple weeks ago that I typically only have my phone alarm set on work days instead of off days. So I thought maybe the alarm had something to do with it. I went into my alarm settings and changed the ringtone from "Metal Crusher" from Undertale" (https://youtu.be/P0PpyUsvT9w) to the Bach Cello Suite prelude (https://youtu.be/1prweT95Mo0). Then I reduced the volume from 10/10 to about 7/10. Finally I turned off the vibrate function.
Soon both the frequency and intensity of my anxiety attacks decreased! I still have maybe one a week (still only on work days) but only once I get to work, and even then it's just some nausea and shortness of breath.
I don't know exactly why or how it works but it does! I can't believe something so simple changed how I get through the day. Still need to kick the habit of making depression meals for breakfast: foods that I can easily keep down when I feel like throwing up.
Maybe this will help someone out there but I just thought I'd share something that helped reduce both the severity and frequency of my anxiety attacks. π

Still hanging in there
Posted 8 years agoI'm still working that airline job; although my new schedule has me working 4 ten-hour days instead of 5 eights, I'm making less money since Friday and Saturday nights have a bonus couple dollars an hour bonus and I'm now off those days.
So I'm starting to bring my lunch instead of buying fast food at the airport, cut back on my Patreon pledges, and maybe cancel my Netflix and some other stuff.
I'd also like to plug my YarnGecko commissions! You can look at prices here; it says Fall 2016 but the prices are the same: http://sfw.furaffinity.net/user/ianthegecko/
Thanks

Summer is here!
Posted 8 years agoI really hope that I'll have a great summer this year since I'll have 3-day weekends on the actual weekends. I want to go to Ren Faire and Water World and Elitch's. I want to go camping. I want to go see movies and shows with my friends.
I want to finally use my flight benefits and travel somewhere, too. Maybe to Seattle; I have family up there that haven't seen since I was in college. Maybe Las Vegas so I can see Blue Man Group. Maybe LA and the beach. Next month I might be going to see my friend Sleet for the first time!

ATTN: Christian Furries!
Posted 8 years agoHello my fellow
christian-furs !
Many of you, I'm sure, are aware of Furs for Christ, the longest-running Christian furry forum still active today, but many of you may not be! So I thought I'd give it a plug to see if we could invite anyone new into the fellowship! All are welcome to join, even if you aren't a Christian (or a furry, but then why are you even on FA, huh?), though this is predominantly a forum for Christians! We discuss Christianity, furry stuff, and just about anything under the sun.
There are a decent number of Christian spaces in the furry fandom, but FFC is one for all types of Christians. Devout or lapsed. Conservative or liberal. Catholic, Orthodox, Methodist, Episcopal, Baptist, etc. All that we ask is that you treat others with respect, regardless of any disagreements.
We also have an associated Telegram group (ask me @IanGecko), occasionally play games together, and are always open for new ideas for things to do together.
So feel free to introduce yourself, meet some people, and discuss anything you'd like among other Christian furries!

The roller coaster is going up
Posted 8 years ago Work has been getting better for a few reasons. Having more people there means that I'm less busy, and almost none of the flights I work have tons of connecting bags. Since we're between the holidays and spring break there are fewer flights anyway. There's also no mandatory overtime, which is great because I don't get overworked. However, that plus my new, later schedule has resulted in a drop in my hours--and therefore my pay, too. Thankfully I am able to pay my bills and debt as well as put money away in savings with every paycheck.
I guess the vitamin D I'm taking every day has been helping, too, especially since working outdoors at night doesn't give me much sunshine. My meds (one of them, anyway) are finally helping me sleep consistently well, although most nights I still have some crackers, peanut butter, and a cup of milk or herbal tea within a couple hours of bedtime.
Things are going well right now, looks like. I hope it'll last.
