AFK For a Bit
Posted 6 years agoHey guys! Soooo due to the weather, Amtrak has changed my trip for tomorrow. Panic mode activate! I'm right around 14 hours until departure. See ya'll on the flip side!
Quick Update: Not that many care....
Posted 6 years agoSo last week I found out that my company is giving me the Paramedic Award of Excellence. Not quite sure how to feel about it, but it also coincides with my leaving the company. So...... it's gonna be made into a "retirement"/award event.
Two weeks to go before moving, so I'm starting to stress out a bit more. There really isn't much one can do in preparation for a move, but I think all my bases are covered for now.
I'm kinda looking forward to taking Amtrak's Lake Shore Limited, Texas Eagle, and Heartland Flyer. I will say the prospect of not having WiFi or phone service for the majority of the trip is rather annoying. Gives me a chance to take in the scenery.
Guess the really sad part for me is that Thanksgiving will be the last time I see my family for a long time. I'm sure I'll be crying. My very close friend Tim and a few of my EMS buddies will be seeing me off at the station, so I won't be alone. It's just nerve racking that after all these years I'm saying goodbye to NY.
All of the experiences, both good and bad, will stay with me forever. Yet, now is the chance to make new memories, experiences and friends. Being with my soulmate will make me the happiest Fox on earth! Excited, nervous, scared... are ALL emotions that hit me at once. But ya know what? I'm happy!
Take care everyone!

Coming Right Up: Good Bye New York!
Posted 6 years agoNext several weeks will be insane! I'm gonna be moving on December 6th to Oklahoma to be with the love of my life! Yeeee! That said, there is soooo much shit to get done in the interim. The one plus to that is the time will go by very fast. I opted to do a bit of exploring on the way, so I'll be taking Amtrak and won't actually arrive until December 8th. But it should be fun! Nervous and excited all at the same time.
Working with my company to hire a new Paramedic to replace me. I'm not 100% sad to be leaving the field, but Nursing is gonna be equally as rewarding and fun. It will also be easier on my broken ass body :P
Sooo..... I guess this is the next chapter of my life!
I won't be doing this alone though! I'll have my lovely, cute, smart
todd-akarui with me all the way!
Thinking of all the packing though.... good lord....

Back to near Full Time
Posted 6 years agoHey Ya'll!
So.... it's been a rough couple of months, but I'm finally back to doing something that I truly enjoy.
It's been awhile since I've been able to actually enjoy life and get back into the swing.
Suffice to say, this has been a scary, major struggle.
I can now get back to helping and saving people, just like my fellow colleagues did for me.
None of this would have been possible without the support of my love

While I'm not 100% yet, I know it will happen, and soon.
Life changes and such are insane but for the better.

Update
Posted 6 years agoSo.... I got rushed in for emergency surgery a few weeks ago. Suffice to say, my ticker is having some issues. I'm doing a bit better now, but still very much miserable.
todd-akarui has been my nurse, looking out for me. I'm a very stubborn fox xD I'll be back in to work in the next few days, so that's a plus. Hope to be better soon!

Awesome Artist Streaming!

Supporting Arctic Foxes
Posted 10 years agoSo I just found a company that supports Arctic Foxes: Fjällräven
When translated it stands for 'The Arctic Fox'
Just ordered my first article of clothing from them and can hardly wait to get it tomorrow.
I think its awesome to see companies doing what they can to support endangered species.
Would highly recommend checking out the Swedish companies website: http://www.fjallraven.us/

Weekend
Posted 11 years agoYup! Took the boys (family friends kids) fishing this weekend! I think I'm in pretty good shape, but those two (8 and 9) got me so tired that I damn near fell down the steps when I got home. >.<
Anybody that has kids... all I can say is... wow. I was only with them for 5 hours, but if I had to deal with them 24/7... I loose my freakin' mind o.o
On the plus side, I got my new gun yesterday!!! :D Won't have time to try it out until later this week, but what the hell; It's nice to look at ^.^
Thank You!!! & Update!
Posted 11 years agoFirst off... I'd like to thank one very special furry for helping out with my best friends headstone!
They want to remain anon, so I won't put the user name down.
He/She (wink) has my very heartfelt thanks for the donation.
Right now my folfy
drust is off on training stuff for two weeks :/ I miss him deeply.
It's gonna be the longest 10 days of my life >.<
In other news... couple weeks before the start of classes and regular ROTC courses.
I doubt i'll be on much during that time, since i'll be juggling work and class and ROTC all at the same time.
Hope everyone is doing well and happy summer :)

Help/Support
Posted 11 years agoHey guys,
I know hardly anyone reads these journals, but thought I'd toss this up given things.
As some may know, my best friend recently passed away. Due to some family issues, his family, there is no headstone of any kind to mark his grave, other than the standard plot identifier. After a week of attempting to persuade Kent's family to agree to even a small placard, they refuse to pay for a headstone.
Right now I'm trying to get funds together in order to purchase a small headstone, so that family and friends have a proper place to visit his grave sight.
So far I've been able to get his brother to help and I've tossed in as much as possible to afford one. Unfortunately, I am still short by about $300.
I usually/never ask for such help but the timing is critical right now.
If anybody could spare a few bucks, it would greatly help me out.
I don't know of a way to repay it, as i don't draw or anything... but you would have my very heartfelt thank you for helping out.
My PayPal is:
j.heyer.212[at]gmail.com
I don't expect much to come from this, as most did not know him. It just seems sad that the only marker is a plastic, fading label. :/

For My Departed Best Friend
Posted 11 years ago(Given at the Funeral) (postponed)
He was my friend... my very best friend. We shared many great moments in our childhood, memories that will never die, nor cease to live on in memory. I could go on for hours about the great moments we shared together, both good and bad. Our snowboarding instructor used to call us the 'untamable two'. Total nutcases in our youth, but we grew up. Not just grew up, we watched each other grow up, which is an experience that I will never forget. Rowdy kids, to teenagers, and all the way to jobs after college. These are experiences that will forever be a part of me; not just a part of me, they made me who I am now. From skiing, to snowboarding, making fun of his little brother, tennis lessons together, skinny dipping in the pond, biking in the woods, and fishing on the Hudson... we were inseparable. Long nights of laying in the grass and talking, catching fireflies... this is how I choose to remember him. Yet I cannot forget the last time I saw him. It is the most vivid memory in my mind and that's okay. I will forever remember his smile, and how happy he was with life, which was taken far too early. A void in my very being exists with Kent gone. For everyone who's life he touched, I want you to know that he loved every moment that he was with you and will be with you wherever you journey to. This is what Kent would have wanted. Live your life and always remember the good times with him and the good times we had with him that has touched each and every one of us. The tragedy that has befallen us will never leave, but we can take the good moments and reflect on how that impacted our lives.

Pretty Upset
Posted 11 years agoIts going to take awhile for me to recover from this...
Last night I found out that my best friend for 20 years passed away
durring an operation to relieve pressure from their brain.
I still can't believe that Kent is gone.
Every part of my body hurts. Can barely eat even.
I know this is not a happy journal... just thought I would put it up anyways.
May Kent rest in peace, with my thoughts of him and his family.
*sigh*

I miss him already and it's only been 10 minutes >.<

Posted 11 years agoJust a quick little update for this month!
I will be involved in three different events this month, which are gonna be cool and lots of fun!
