FA Leadership, you have recently decided to allow for third-party adult ads to be displayed on this site.

Now, regardless of the fact that any money that these ads might have earned the site is negated by the increase in users who will now browse with an ad-blocking service...

You should be ASHAMED of yourselves for allowing the use of ads that use such DEGRADING and SEXIST language.

Human pornography is one (controversial) thing; but the "hookup" ads that DEMEAN, DEGRADE, and OBJECTIFY women are incontrovertiblly unacceptable. Stop rationalizing and justifying that it's acceptable to allow half of the world's population to be treated as second-class people in the name of generating income. You are not merely allowing this atrocity to perpetuate; you are profiting from it.

FA Leadership, stop contributing to the marginalization of women; do your part and REMOVE these ads IMMEDIATELY.

There is no debate here, only shame.

And because you have asked for your shame to be served with a side of hypocrisy, the following is from your own Code of Conduct:

1.8 - Do not engage in malicious speech. This includes bigotry and disparaging remarks about anyone’s race, ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, and sexual orientation.

If repeated ads using "bitches" to refer to all females does not count as malicious speech based on gender, then I do not know what does.

FA Leadership, it's time to step up and own up. Leaders are tasked with uniting those beneath them in doing something greater together than they could have ever imagined by themselves. Do not misuse this responsibility that the community has given you (yes, "given", as your users are free to leave you at any time); instead unite with them to take a stand against this system of abhorrent marginalization and, commit to the banning of these reprehensible ads both present and future.

Bloody Sandy is seriously making a bee-line right for my house. Dragon is not pleased. I live 300 miles from the coast and this is two years in a row that I'm facing flooding in my basement and up to a week without power because of a hurricane.

I'm doing all I can to prepare for the storm, but it's pretty much assured that, starting Monday, I will not have power for a day or two or... Well, in either case, I just wanted you all to know why i won't be as visible as I ususally am!

A big 'good luck' to the rest of you in the Mid-Atlantic area who are in the same boat (it was a good pun)!




But if there's another hurricane like this next year, I'm moving. Seriously.

After two very long months of fighting the cancer, my mother passed away tonight.

It was very hard to watch her decline and also very hard to be her sole caregiver especially in the last weeks when her needs were greatest. However, I was richly rewarded tonight when she passed away storybook-peacefully in my arms, my months-long mission of keeping her comfortable and pain-free having been completed in the most magnificent of ways.

I shall miss her terribly--and far more even in the following week when it all catches up with me, but, for now, I revel in her finally being at peace an in a far better place.

Thank you all for you continued understanding and support these last few weeks. Many of you were extremely supportive to me, and I must give my deepest grattitude to  DMA , especially, as he continually lent an ear to my sadness, frustration, and confusion. I couldn't have gotten through in one piece without your friendship, I hope you know.

It'll be a long time before things are back to anything even close to normal--whatever this new 'normal' will be, but I am sure that with all of my friends' continued sujpport and care, I'll get there in one piece!

Normally, when I write, I carefully consider my words, revising them numerous times before being satisfied. Normally, I can keep my thoughts focused properly so that my words clearly and succinctly express my thoughts and feelings. Normally, I can keep it altogether and at least feign some semblance of control and poise.

But normal ended for me when I found out my mother has advanced cancer.

We don't know where it started; we don't know everywhere that it is now except that it is in her liver and 'should be' other places based on test results. We don't really know how long she has 'officially' but she' seems to be deteriorating pretty quickly. We don't really know what to expect--nor when to expect, and I am having to arrange certain things that I thought I wouldn't even need to think about for decades.

So, I just wanted to ensure my friends understood why, at times, I might not seem to be acting quite 'normal' as of late. I might not choose the right words to express myself and I might not choose the best ways either. There's a lot of frustration, sadness, and helplesmess (and not the good kind) here and I apologize if I'm not the best company right now. And sometimes there's just nothing left for me to give at the end of the day. I just feel awful that I often don't have enough of myself left to give to my friends here.

That being said, however, please don't think that I want to just be left alone--no, I need everyone's support even more now than before! Just allow me to apologize in advance if I seem distant or unresponsive at times; I assure you that I'm glad you're there.

Hello, all.

I'm new here and to most of the community, I believe. Sorry I don't have more here; but, as a non-artist, I'm not sure there'll be much more later either.
