PC is fucked
Posted 13 years agoLook, I know i said i'd bve uploading a lot more art a while ago, and I've been meaning to honest I have. My Pc started chugging pints of dust you see, and that burnt out the graphics card, I think, I don't really know much about computers only how to make to make them do what I say, not how they do it.
The drawing side is going great though,. I'm sketching on a more regular basis and working on my detail, drawing furries and monsters and weird shit all the time.
I even had a crack at drawing some porn, though it's the tamest thing you've ever seen. Hopefully I'll get the compy working again soon so I can start uploading some of my stuff.
Love to all my friends

contest results!
Posted 13 years agoNo one won.
Seriously no one gave a single right answer, but then seeing as only two people entered that's not surprising, somtimes I wonder why I bother.
As a thank you to Funky and Therian however for bothering to take time out to reply to the contest, they'll be getting sketches anyway as a thank you.

Win a free detailed Pencil Drawing!
Posted 13 years agoThat's right, I'm holding a contest where you can win a free, very detailed pencil drawing from me! All you have to do is answer these eight simple questions. Now to stop the quiz being too easy I've desided to take the David Mitchell approach, and offer questions to which there is a definate answer but which you can't really find on google. All answers must be in reply to this journal, poles close on next friday and the winner will be the person with the most right answers, in the event of a tie between two or more people I'll offer a tiebreak question.
Here we go
1. Who was the best Batman?
2. What type of biscuit best defines Grandma's everywhere?
3. What is the best song ever written?
4. What is the nicest flavour of crisps, and for a bonus point, what brand?
5. When playing and Elder Scrolls game, what race should you pick?
6. How many cups of coffee per hour, is too many?
7. What's the most appealing quality in a potential intimate partner?
8. What's the best animal in the world?
and as a bonus tiebreak question, incase we need it.
). How many billiard balls can I fit in my mouth at once?

The tail
Posted 13 years agoShould I phase out the metal tail? No one really seems to like it anyway and it seems difficult for artists to draw.
Star Trek a-go-go!
Posted 13 years agoWe've started playing a Star Trek pen and paper RPG on our monday roleplaying nights. We were origionaly flaying around in a Nova class but I've convinced my GM, because the Nova class is fucking ugly, to let me design a new type of starship based on the Vesta, but smaller. Would anyone be interested in seeing it once it's done?

New job, a little too late.
Posted 13 years agoFinaly got a new job. That was a difficult period I can tell you, there's only so long you can sit at home wanking and eating expensive German biscuits and it seems that six months was getting to be the limit.
So I'm doing my usual, waiting and barman. My new place though has stellar staff, and good man as the boss, and a total lack of cocktails, though they want me to work them out a cocktail menu of sorts so at least I'm indispensable.
Alas however, it all seems to have come too late. Confuzzled is only a few weeks away and far too late to register for, and the manchester meet is moved to a very inconvenient time indeed, I wasn't even aware it'd moved and it's reasoning for doing so is frankly offensive.
I get the feeling that even though I now have the money to finaly have some fun, there's going to be little fun to be had.
This summer is going to suck.

More Arcade Fire!
Posted 13 years agoReally getting into their stuff in a big, big way, they're good to have on in the background whilst I'm doing my homework for my teaching course. The suburbs is a brilliant album, now if only i could focus on the homework instead of procrastinating by looking at Fa and making journals.
New money for Old Rope
Posted 13 years agoDear Fandom.
Can we stop this now please? It's getting to be a joke. More and more artists in the fandom now a days are offering pre done poses, or pre made sketches, or in some cases even totally inked images with the idea to 'insert your character here' and asking remarkable amounts for them. I've personally started unwatching people that do it now and I'll tell you for why.
Firstly It's bad for creativity for one. If people are willing to pay you $100 for a piece of artwork you've basically already finished, and i don't mean an original piece at an art-show or a first print, but a sketch that you've already set out the pose and the species and all the other real major details, then that's all you're likely to do in future, if you can get that kind of money for something you were going to do anyway, why do anything else. My best work comes from outside influence, from my friends saying "oh this is cool, draw this" or from when a person who commissions me asks for something i wouldn't have thought of before. If you just go colouring in finished sketches as some one's else's character then you've cut out a big part of that creative exploration.
Secondly, if you want a piece from an artist and they're not doing the animal you want because it's easier for them to just do endless canine sketches, or big buff chaps, or females, or just males if you're one of those women out there, then that's eventually influence you to changing character, not because you want to, but because the people you really want to get art from will never do what you want. I'm not trying to have a go at artists here, I know how hard a job it can be to create something from scratch and how long it takes to go from sketch to finished product, I've done it, but this is just such a lazy option I think it's really insulting the the fans of your work, to the effort it takes to produce that work in the first place, and to the fandom as a whole.

Why even bother?
Posted 13 years agoI've taken quite a few people off my IM lists today. I've decided just not to bother with people that don't bother with me any more. I think it might be part of my quickly plummeting bullshit meter but I'm just not fussed how popular a person is any more or how good their art is or their music, I just want them to have a genuine desire to talk to me or hang out with me.
Those people who're close to me you know you're not effected and I still love you guys. Those peeps that blow me off last minute dispite having a month to plan and saying they'd do so, bye.

Birthday today.
Posted 13 years agoGoodo!
Party time tomorrow.
Posted 13 years agoBirthday party starts tomorrow and ends on Sunday. Drinking, eating and smoking things my mother wouldn't understand will be par for the course.
What is wrong with some people?
Posted 13 years agoI've recently developed a low bullshit tolerance. I keep seeing artists on here asking for disgusting amounts for work they've already half way done, or in some cases almost totally finished and would likely complete even if no one paid for it. I'm getting angry at idiots unwilling to learn even the basics of a subject when confronted with facts and I'm really really sick of friends that blow me off all the time as long as something better is available.
Hopefully this is me turning into more of a cunt as I get older, and not a brain tumour the size of a duck egg.

Open for watercoloured sketched.
Posted 14 years agoI'm opening for commissions over Christmas and Newyears. They're watercoloured sketches and I'm not restricting content or subject matter. They'll be scanned coppies of the real-media final product.
Oh, yeah, they're £10, £15 for two characters.

Oak is dead.
Posted 15 years agoHe died last night at around 9pm, whilst I was out bowling with fioxy and Jason was asleep. Jason rang fioxy as we were driving back to say he'd found him dead at the bottom of the cage, luckily I was only afew minutes away. He was laying on the bottem of the cage as though asleep, actualy as though he was drifting off to sleep because his eyes were still half open. He was so cold and stiff, rigor mortis had set in I think, i couldn't bend his body or head or any of his limbs and I was so filled with dread at the touch of him I had to take my shirt off and use that. Once I held him in my arms though, the frail thin ratty, He'd been loosing weight for weeks prior, I couldn't help but cuddle him directly. He was so soft feeling but his body was hard, really hard, and he was so cold it seemed like he was even colder then the air around him.
We couldn't find anything to use as a coffin so I made him a shroud from some brown matterial, that I used to make the poppet that hangs on my door from, and sewed it up with blue embroiding thread, inside it with him I put some smokey quartz, a symbol of dead, and a feather to carry his soul away to any God who will take it. I kisses his little head, closed his eyes for him and rolls him up in the fabric, then stitched up the edges so it wouldn't come unrolled. Then, once it was secure, I painted OAK in blue water colours on the top, blue so you could see it best against the brown, and told him stories of when we first got him as I did so.
He was my ratty at the petshop, I saw him an imediatly wanted him, Jason wanted Ash because Ash is albino and he felt sorry for him, but I wanted to frightened little brown thing at the back, and that was Oak. He'd always come and find me when we let him out of the cage, and have his tummy tickled, and lay with me when I was alseep on the couch. He'd try to clean my teeth too. Even when he was old and loosing weight he'd still stand at the edge of the couch and wait for me to pick him up and I feel so sorry and stupid to havemissed his death, I don't think I'll even forgive myself.
He's burried in the back garden now, right at the far end under what I think is a sicamore tree, deep enough into the earth so that the cats and fox's can't get him easily. I don't I've ever cried so much digging that grave with the tiny purple plastic child's spade we found abandoned in the garden. I dug the first part and Jason dug the last, then I handed his little shroud to Jason and he cried more at how light it was and how our rat felt in his hands, he'd refused to touch his lifless body and I don't blame him for that. I put him in the ground and sprinkled some food around him incase he got hungry, and then put on that first spade full of earth and just broke down, I've never cried so much seeing my little boy go into the ground, I wanted to pull him out of that shroud and cuddle him back to life and not put him in the cold dirty earth, I wanted to protect him but I couldn't. I did the only thing I could do, put on another pile of earth, and another, and another till you couldn;''t see his shroud anymore, it was somehow easier once I was just piling soil upon soil and not onto the fabric, it hurt less and I cried less. Though I don't think I've cried as much writing a livejournal.
I can see him from my PC, out the window I can see where I burried him, I hope he's ok where ever he is. I miss him so much.

I love you.
