Doing the Impossible
Posted 7 years agoSo, I spent much of free time in the last two weeks clearing out my submissions inbox. I had nearly 7 years of built up art, over 85,000 submissions. And today for the first time in....well... I guess over 7 years, I saw the words "No Messages", and it feels good. And no, I did not nuke them. I looked through them and deleted them one page at a time, making sure to at least listen to the more recent music submissions. Actually, I lied, I nuked all the NSFW stuff, and in doing so, I learned that the nuke button can only get rid of 5,000 things at a time.
New year, clean start!
New year, clean start!
Reflections and Resolutions
Posted 8 years agoFirst of all, Happy New Year Everyone! May good luck and fortune find you all this year!
I find the start of a new a year is always a good time to reflect, to recognize the good and the bad, and to use your growth and knowledge from a year of experience to decide how to best move forward. Last year was a whirlwind of a year at our house, with some rather extreme ups and downs. Most of all, it felt like a very long, very full year, which is good, in at least some ways
Sitting on our roof watching fireworks a year ago, I made myself a large list of personal goals. I don’t remember what they all were (I’m going to actually write my resolutions down this year), but I remember thinking only half way through the year that I had already accomplished most of them. While this provided a temporary boost to my confidence and self-esteem, in focusing on myself I feel like I distanced myself from so many people and in turn also partially severed myself from other commitments, and most importantly, my emotions. I disappeared from social media, didn’t plan outings with local friends, missed a lot of other local social events, and barely saw or spoke to some people that I used to see regularly.
So, while I do want to continue striving for a better me, this year I want to reconnect with many people who I feel like I’ve ignored, form even stronger bonds with my close friends, let my emotions take a more commanding role, and try to be better at making and keeping commitments. I want to try new things, go to new places, and have more adventures that I can share with my friends.
The composer Hans Zimmer once said, “What’s the point of getting up in the morning unless you’re going to have an adventure? As the moments of our life are ticking away you have to be aware that it needs to be an adventure.”
So here’s to a 2018 full of friends and adventure!

Furry Network Account and Everywhere Else to Find Me!
Posted 9 years agoFor any out there that still happen to be watching, I just want to let you all know the many places you can find me, just in case if any one of these places happen to bite the dust. I'll still likely be updating all of these places when I can, but the places I update first will likely be Tumblr, Weasyl, Furry Network. and maybe FA.
For starters I just made a new account on Furry Network:
Ikodo's Furry Netowrk
I also have lots of other accounts, some updated more frequently than others!
Ikodo's Weasyl
Ikodo's Tumlbr
Ikodo's Soundcloud
Ikodo's Bandcamp
Ikodo's Youtube
Ikodo's Deviantart
I also have accounts on SoFurry, Inkbunny, Last.fm, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, and probably a few other places I don't remember, but those will likely very rarely or never get updated!
Anyone, I hope all you fuzzies out there are doing well!

Udpates, Tumblr, and Ask Me Anything!
Posted 10 years agoHello to all my wonderful watchers and friends!
As usual, I realized my previous journal was bordering on a year old, so I decided it was high time for some updates. I've been feeling really inspired and motivated the last few days and I want to use that energy to get more involved with the online communities I've neglected for the past couple years, and to start pouring my heart and soul back into a bit of drawing maybe, but mostly music! In recent weeks I have rediscovered the endless amount of music talent that so many people in this fandom possess. I also want to start actively posting more stuff on my Tumblr, where I've lurked for nearly a year now, which brings me to my next point....
I have a Tumblr! Go forth and follow me if you too have a Tumblr! http://ikodomoonstrife.tumblr.com
And I've opened up my ask page, so people can ask me anything anytime, and I'll do my best to answer. I now have an adorable set of expressions I can try to answer with, so please feel free to wander on over to my ask page and ask me some questions!
http://ikodomoonstrife.tumblr.com/ask
As for real life updates, for those that are interested, I finally finished my Masters in Plant Science back in December and I'm now working part time for a new company that grows and sells grafted tomato plants. In the meantime I'm looking for some kind of greenhouse supervisor position somewhere in the country that is less hot and sunny than Arizona. Aden and I would love to move to the pacific northwest if given the opportunity.
Anyway, what's going with all you? I feel like I've been out of touch for far too long, and would love to hear what everyone is up to!

Believe it or not, I am still alive!
Posted 11 years agoSeeing as I haven't posted anything since August, and I happen to have a small sliver of free time during this spring break, I figured it was about time for an update, just to let the internet know I haven't vanished off the face of the planet.
As you all may have noticed graduate school has completely thrown all of my free time out the window. I barely have time to lurk and leave sparse comments, let alone make posts and indulge in my creative hobbies. However, I expected this when I signed up for a masters degree, so I have not been disappointed! That being said, grad school is going very well. Grades are good, my research is interesting, and if everything goes well, I'll be done by Christmas! And then.....oh ho ho.....and then, I'm gonna art, music, and write so hard! And do all the other things I haven't had time for! (like clean our house maybe?)
In other news, so long as grad school lets me, I will be attending RMFC in August!
So that's my life, how are all you doing? What's new and exciting in your life?

Anthrocon 2013!
Posted 12 years agoFigured I'd add to the pile of Anthrocon Journals...
TAILS AND TACTICS TRADING CARD GAME!!!!!!!
is debuting at Anthrocon - come visit our table in the dealer's den! And buy our stuff!
Are you attending?
Duh, why else would I be writing this journal? :P
Where are you staying?
The Westin
When are you there?
The afternoon of the 4th - the morning of the 8th
How are you travelling?
It's a bird, it's a plane!....wait, it actually is a plane
Who are you rooming with?
Aden of course! And maybe another friend if he decides to show up.
Who will you hang out with at the convention?
Probably too many people to list, but likely plenty of time with
Aden,
Bryantfox, and
pedrolerenard
I'll probably either be in fursuit, or helping to man the Tails and Tactics table in the Dealer's Den. Come buy our stuff!
What's the best way to find you and what should I call you?
Just call me Ikodo! Look for a black and white fursuiter, with blue leg markings. If I'm not in suit, I'll be a guy with a black and white tail, so good luck with that! Just look at the badge!
Are you attending any panels or events?
Probably everything I can manage to squeeze into my schedule
How do I contact you?
If you don't already have my number, you'll have to find me! *runs away wildly*
Are you fursuiting?
As long as United Airlines doesn't lose my luggage, then YES!
Do you do free art, trades, commissions, badges?
I is not very good at teh arting, but I have done trades on occasion.
Can I take pictures wit you?
Sure, just try not to surprise me.
Can I talk to you, hug you, touch you?
Talk to me, sure! Hug me, sure, just don't surprise me! Touch me, just sounds creepy. Poking is ok though :P
Can I buy you a drink?
Anytime!
Can I give you stuff?
If you have stuff to give me, sure!

Graduate School!
Posted 12 years agoIt's about time for a new journal, and I happen to have exciting news...
I got accepted into graduate school! I'll be starting a master's degree in Plant Science this coming fall, and I can't wait. Should I be this excited about going back to school (even though I've been trying to get in for the last year and half)?
Other than that, it's June and I'm still in Arizona, so it's stupidly dry and stupidly hot. Being in a humid greenhouse is nice, but still quite warm. How are all the rest of you doing out there? Hopefully I haven't let my internet presence completely fade to nothing.

Help out a fellow writer!
Posted 12 years agoCheck out
threetails's journal here: https://www.weasyl.com/journal/9563
Threetails is an excellent writer whom I think deserves more recognition for his work, so go check out his writing, get yourself a copy of "The Goldenlea", a novel he has been working on for years and just released last month at FC. Happy reading, and if you like his work, spread the word!

Happy Holidays!
Posted 13 years agoThis journal will likely be lost in the deluge of holiday journals, but for any and all who do see it, happy holidays. Whatever it is you might celebrate, or even if you don't celebrate, take some time to remove yourself from the fast-paced commercialized world the holiday season has become and relax with family and friends, and appreciate all the treasures that life has to offer.
I offer my sincerest thanks to all those who are still watching me and commenting on my creative endeavors. I have been relatively quiet this year, but I hope to make one of my goals to change that in the new year. I will also be more active on Weasyl, so go forth and find me there!
Happy Holidays everyone!

Weasyl, Furfright, and Important Question
Posted 13 years agoFurfright, as always was awesome! I was able to furusit on a few occasions, spend too much money as usual, but most importantly, spend time with friends I hadn't seen in a long while! I also made it back to my parents' house in MA safely before Frankenstorm 2012 hit. The storm simply extended our stay in the northeast for three days, since our flight was cancelled, which I frankly have no complaints about.
Anyway, IMPORTANT QUESTION: does anyone know where to download photos from the photo shoot at Furfright? I can't find any info on it. Thanks!
Lastly, Weasyl! A new art site, that already have an account set up on, and in two weeks I will be able to invite others, so let me know if you'd like an invite! Once I upload some stuff into my gallery, Weasyl will become the primary place I post updates, so please watch me on Weasyl! I have the same name there as I do here! Though for now, I will continue updating in both places.

Tails and Tactics! Help support the exciting new card game!
Posted 13 years agoA friend of mine has been working very hard on releasing a new card game called Tails and Tactics; a collectible trading card game featuring light military strategy and lots of puns, as well as an entertaining art drawn by Jan of TigerKnight.com, artist for Swords and Sausages and College Catastrophe. If you went to Anthrocon, you likely got a sample card in your con bag; a sample of the art in the game, and a rare one-time release promotional Anthrocon card, so hold onto it!
For those of you going to RMFC, the creators will be demoing this new game, so be sure to keep an eye out for it!
All of us who have been helping to test the game truly believe that this game will be fun and unique, and we are all very excited and hopeful to start printing some real decks and cards to release to the public, but we need all of your support! Please check out the Kickstarter link below!
So, please help spread the word! Go to the Website! Click the links below! Write a journal about it! Tell your friends! And mostly importantly donate to the Kickstarter if you can!

Back to the Grind
Posted 13 years agoAs always, all good things come to an end. I can honestly say that Anthrocon 2012 was the best con I've been to to date. It even beat my first Anthrocon ever in 2007, which I did not think would be possible. I met new people, spent time with old friends, got to be in full fursuit for the first time, made it to most of the events I wanted to go to, and had an awesome road trip to and from the con as the bonus.
A few highlights:
- Stopping at a wolf sanctuary in Colorado on the way to AC
- Dancing like an idiot on the main dance floor in fursuit 2 of the 3 nights
- Seeing Guest of Honor Sardyuon perform both on stage, and on the roof of the DLCC after the convention was over
- Witnessing so many amazing dancers in the fursuit dance competition finals, as well as at the dead dog party
- Impressing the Dorsai while in fursuit to get a slap bracelet
- Participating in fursuit games
- 2's list of the best two-letter word combinations
- Playing Asteroids on the side of the DLCC
- Seeing Tani and Nightfox be absolutely adorable in fursuit
I had such an amazing time and accomplished so many of the things I set out to do that I have no regrets and I have not suffered from any of the usual post-con depression. Instead, I will just eagerly await whatever convention I will be able to attend next; hopefully FurFright, and if not, Further Confusion :)
If anyone took pictures of me in suit, or finds picture of me in suit, please let me know!
Thank you all for being an amazing fandom to be a part of!

The Mandatory Anthrocon Journal
Posted 13 years agoSo, I'll be at AC! This will be my 3rd AC, and my first convention with a fursuit. Let me know if you want to meet up!
How do you want to be addressed?
Ikodo
Gender?
Male
Age?
25….damn, I’m getting old…at least compared to average age in this fandom
What do you look like?
Black and white wolf (considering I’ll probably be in suit most of the time). Otherwise, I’m an average-height, brown-haired, white guy. So basically, you’ll never find me without a glance at my name tag, or already knowing me.
Where/how can I find you?
I have no idea. If you need or want to find me, you already have my cell number, or you ask for it in a note, and I might give it to you. When I’m in suit though, cell phone might not happen; in which case, come find me in suit! I’ll likely be at most of the fursuiting events. I’ll also post on the room board when I know my room number.
How are you getting there?
By car….from Arizona….yep…ROAD TRIP!
What hotel are you staying at?
The Westin
Which days will you be attending?
Thursday through Sunday (assuming we survive the drive)
Do you do requests?
Depends on the request.
Do you do trades?
Depends on the trade.
Do you do commissions?
I never have before, but if you want to pay me for something creative, I’ll definitely consider it, again depending on the commission.
Will you have prints, CDs, or merchandise?
I will likely have a few copies of each of my music CDs on hand, and if you buy them at the con they will be 5$ each.
Will you have Art in the Art Show?
Nay, I am no good with the arts.
Who will you be with?
Rooming with my mate, and probably spending much of my time with
Aden,
pedrolerenard,
Bryantfox, and a whole bunch of other people, many of which I probably won’t remember until I get there.
What is your main purpose for attending?
Fursuiting everywhere! I’ve never suited at a con before
What/where will you be eating?
Furnando’s, Furnando’s, oh and Furnando’s. I’ll eat other places though too, likely even taking a break one evening to go out for a nice dinner, perhaps at Bucca di Beppo’s.
Can I talk to you?
Sure! I may be a bit shy and awkward at first, but I usually warm up quickly.
Can I take pictures with you?
If I’m in suit, definitely! If not, that’s kinda creepy…unless of course I already know you.
Can I touch/hug/cuddle you?
Hugs are ok, especially if I’m in suit; just give me a bit of warning! Poking is ok too, but any other touching and cuddling is reserved for the mate.
Can I hang out with you?
Sure, if you really think I’m that cool.
Do you go to parties?
Generally, no…not much of a party person…
Will you be drinking/getting drunk?
Though I don’t party, it is very likely drinking will be occurring.
Can I buy you a drink?
Absolutely! In return, I’ll buy you a drink as well !
Do you fursuit/costume?
I will be! Though I have very little experience.
Anything else?
Sweet buttery dishwasher! See all you crazy balls of fur at the con! Also, I suck at dancing, but I’m going to the nightly dances anyway, and the more buddies I can find that also don’t mind looking like fools on the dance floor, the merrier.

My Digital Music Albums For SALE - $1!
Posted 13 years ago...or more, if you're feeling generous, but it's not necessary. More than anything, I just want to share my music with more people.
So both of my albums, Beyond the Dream and Suspended Blue are for sale as digital downloads on Bandcamp for "name your own price" with a minimum of 1$, just click the names above. You get all the songs in any format you'd like, as well as all the cover and insert art for each CD. Go forth and spread my music around the world (assuming you think I'm any good at all :P).
Also, if anyone does want physical copies of my CDs, I still have a few copies of both, and because they cost me money to produce, they are $10 each, or $15 for both. Let me know if you're interested!
Quote of the Day: "“As the world cheered in July [20] 1969 [Neil Armstrong stepped onto the Moon], did the rest of the universe shudder when it saw the virus that was killing its host had finally escaped?” -Tom Phelan, Freeport, N.Y.

Quotes and Drawing
Posted 14 years agoI noticed a while back, I used to include inspirational or funny quotes at the bottoms of all my journals, and I feel like restarting that tradition. It's also a good reason to clean holiday journals off my front page.
In other news, I'm actually drawing once again, so maybe there will actually be something new in my inbox sometime soon, but I won't make promises.
Quote of the Day: "Only those who attempt the absurd will achieve the impossible. I think it's in my basement... let me go upstairs and check." ~M.C. Escher

Happy Holidays and Looking Forward
Posted 14 years agoSo, first of all Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to all your crazy furs out there! Thanks for another wonderful year, and I hope to see many more.
As I look back on this year, I realize it's been a busy year. I got a new job, I moved all the way across the country, I finally bought a house with my mate, and made new friends. Overall, it's been a good year and I'm extremely thankful for everything that I have. It makes me smile at some point every day, but I find myself coming to the end of this year with part of me being unhappy and empty, something I'm hoping some New Year's resolutions and some determination will solve.
I feel as though the past several months have been full of wasted time. Other than successfully completing NaNoWriMo, I feel as though I've completely lost touch with my creative side. I haven't drawn, I haven't written music, and I've barely touched my piano, and my life feels empty without these, and I'm hoping more than anything I can re-kindle a desire to do these hobbies in the new year.
I haven't done much of anything really. I feel like I haven't gone places, I haven't really seen new things. I feel like I've been lazy and afraid of committing to anything new. I get barely any exercise, and I've become very disappointed in the past month or two about the poor physical shape I'm in. I want to get out there and see the world, and I want to be happy about this body that I inhabit.
Lastly, I think Aden and I need to spend some more quality time together. I feel as though we're not as close we used to be, and we don't have as much fun as we used to. Some days I feel like we're just two friends that happen to share a bed and a space under the same roof, and not much more, but I know we are more than that and I don't want to feel that way.
This year hasn't been everything I hoped for, but I really don't want to sound like I'm ranting about it because as I said, overall the year has treated me very well. I will simply take my discontent and use it as motivation to make next year all that much better; New Year's resolutions! :)
So, Happy Holidays everyone! Merry Christmas! Happy New Year! May good fortune find you over the holiday season and in the new year. No matter where you are, and who you're with, take some time away from the hustle and bustle of the modern world, and enjoy the gifts of family, friends peace, and love; may all of these be yours during the holidays and the new year! ^^
TLDR: The year was great, a lot of great things happened, but a lot needs improving in the new year. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year, may fortune find you wherever you are! ^^

Personality meme

I always enjoy doing tests like these, to see what they come up with.
Calm
You rarely become irritated, generally accept people as they are, take things as they come, and feel relaxed in most situations.
You do not let a minor annoyance escalate to a confrontation. You don't regularly snap at those around you or fly off the handle with little provocation.
Cooperative
You enjoy teamwork, play well with others, and prefer getting along to winning.
You're not compelled to win every contest nor to be right all the time.
Upbeat
You enjoy being around others and others enjoy being around you. You have a "live and let live" attitude; because you know that no one's perfect, you are forgiving and happy to give the benefit of the doubt.
You don't feel the need to be controversial or express contrary opinions all the time. You see no reason to go around rubbing people the wrong way.
Aesthetic
You appreciate art, beauty, and design; you know that they are not superficial but absolutely crucial to living the good life. You have good taste, and you're proud of it. Those with a high score on the "aesthetic" trait are often employed in literary or artistic professions, enjoy domestic activities — doing things around the house — and are enthusiastic about the arts, reading, and travel.
You don't think it's pretentious to be moved by art and beauty. You're not one of those who believe it doesn't matter what something looks like as long as it does its job.
Creative
You are good at solving problems, coming up with original ideas, and seeing connections between things, connections that most other people miss. People with a high score on the "creative" trait often are employed in such fields as finance and scientific research, and enjoy avant garde and classical music as well as literary fiction and scholarly non-fiction.
You do not shun abstractions and concepts in favor of the concrete and tangible.
Scrupulous
You are an honest, fair person. You don't lie or cheat to get ahead. You treat others with respect and hope for the same in return.
You do not feel that you are above the rules that everyone else follows; you are definitely not willing to do whatever it takes to get ahead.
Prudent
You look before you leap, think before you act, consider what you're about to say before you open your mouth to speak; that's why you rarely have to eat your words.
You usually don't get excited easily or blurt out the first thing that comes to mind without considering the consequences.
Intellectual
You are thoughtful, rational, and comfortable in the world of ideas. People find you interesting to talk to. You're the living embodiment of the saying "You learn something new every day." In general, those with a high score on the "intellectual" trait are employed in such fields as teaching and research, and are enthusiastic about reading, foreign films, and classical music.
You do not avoid abstract conversation, experimenting with new ideas, or studying new things. It bores you to stick to the straight and narrow of what you already know.
Sympathetic
You have a knack for knowing what's going on in the hearts and minds of those around you, without their having to tell you explicitly. People tend to turn to you with their problems because they know you care, and that you will likely offer good advice and a helping hand.
You do not feel that people with sad stories are just looking for attention, or have brought their problems upon themselves.
Curious
You like to get to the bottom of things. You're not content knowing what someone did; you want to know why they did it.
You don't simply take things as they are and move on; you're not content skimming along on the surface; you don't feel you're wasting time by digging for the meaning of things.

WAGIGAGH!...
Posted 14 years ago...which means "I'm done with class hooray!"
A semester's worth of information and a 10-page research paper squeezed into 4 weeks.....needless to say, good times were had and free time was non-existent. After more than 2 years of not going to school, throwing myself into a graduate level course was.....well.....challenging, but I don't regret it, and plan to take more classes in the future.
Anyway, now that free time is on my hands once again, expect some new music soon (I hope), as well as some lightning pictures, as the thunderstorms are plentiful and awesome down here and Tucson! :)

A real life update!
Posted 14 years agoSo, just as I was starting to get back into music and art and getting my creative juices flowing, real life duties strike once again :P
But its all good news, Aden and I bought our first house!
So, all my free time has been spent doing paperwork for that, and now its being devoted to renovation and cleaning of the the new place. We are gonna re-paint the entire place, as well as put in all new tile floors and carpet, and that's only the beginning of a long list of things we'd like do (but definitely need to save up for). We already this week had the joy of ripping a whole house worth of 45 year old carpet and linoleum, and all the filth that came with it. Fun fun!
It's all very exciting! Maybe Aden will post some picture of his tile floor after he designs and installs it :)

Writer's Meme
Posted 14 years agoI should post some more of my writing up here
Anyways, this was a meme I stole from
threetails, who got it from
kyell, and I figured it would be fun to do, if for no other reason to remind myself of writing projects I've started and forgotten about
Post the title of your upcoming project, along with the first sentence.
Eidolon (upcoming novel, still in early development, still needs lots or revision and completion)
"The black paw pads on Ryou Frostfur's feet dug into soft dirt as he quickly rounded the corner of the building."
Visions (completed short story, I should try submitting it to something perhaps :/)
"I strolled slowly along one of the small side streets of Manhattan."
Dark Matter (upcoming short story, was once completely but is now being rewritten)
"Something had gone wrong."
The Return of the Tree (completed short story, something short and silly, based on a dream.)
"I stood on the tiled floor of my room, in front of my desk of green, yellow, blue, and red hues."
An Afternoon Hike (complete short story, needs revision)
"He knew the motto well; be prepared."
Ikodo's Story (fantasy novel idea, needs a name a lot of work, hasn't made it anywhere yet)
"Ikodo walked slowly through the golden field of tall, waving, grass, his head always turned toward the ground."
The Ways of the Living World (upcoming short story, barely started)
"Tomez Richardston sat in his grungy chair in the corner of his room."
The Woods (completed short story, a cheesy horror piece that I don't like anymore)
"That time of year had come again."
Notes:
*You can't tell much from my opening sentences, so maybe they need a bit of work?
*I'm terrible at finishing things, so the term "upcoming" is used very loosely here. In some cases it can be replaced with "maybe, if at all"
*I like short stories, because there's a better chance of finishing them *is lazy*
And sure enough, it turns out, there was a few projects that I completely forgot about, and I think there might be other short stories that I started on paper that have since been long lost in notebooks somewhere. Anyway, I need Nanowrimo to come around again, so I have motivation to keep me writing. Otherwise, I find it so hard to focus.
Let me know if any of you out there see stories on this list that sound interesting and maybe I'll post them here, or in some cases, try to finish them and then post them here ^^
Anyways, this was a meme I stole from
