an Update From Puerto Rico
Posted 8 years agoWell, This has been indeed the worst experience ever.
I remember the cat. 3 Hurricane Hugo, September 18, 1989. It was a horrible sight, and scary experience that as a 5 years old i still remember today. A few years after, among other hurricanes that scraped us, Hurricane Georges, a cat. 4, hit us in September 21, 1998. I was 14. I remember the devastation, the months without power.
Now... fast forward to 2017, September 6 Hurricane Cat.5 Irma scraped us and made a lot of damage, partially destroying our power grid. Electricity slowly came back to some sectors, it never arrived on the one i live in thou, cuz on september 20 (it started on the 19th night actually) Cat. 4 (short of 2 mph winds to be officially a cat.5) Hurricane María razed us through the very middle. This was the scariest experience i have even gone through. Holding down the door, pinching it with the fridge and ottomans, and a window that broke. Between the loud howls, bangs and cascades of water the day never seemed to end. My hands and arms hurt, how much water i had to draw out. the force i had to use in a desperate moment. Scary... but what is worse is the aftermath... no one could be prepared enough for this.
Remember, many of us got provisions for Hurricane Irma, Hurricane María didn't give us enough time to replenish or re-prepare. The level of destruction, the power grid does not exist anymore, many roofs and complete houses flown off. Every single communication tower including the radio ones, all but one, were destroyed. No one could not communicate with family nor friends. Could not get to them cuz every road was blocked with trees and debris. I was actually trapped in the area were i live for 3 days. All neighbors united to clear some paths.
Now mosquitoes are the new normal, this humidity is creating a heat wave beyond endurance levels. There was no water to refresh yourself or flush down a toilet. Eating just a can of sausages for the whole day. Its something out of a Mad Max movie puertorrican edition.
I must say I'm tired, so tired. I cannot get a good night rest between the mosquitoes and the heat, is nearly impossible. I made a line just to get gas for my car that lasted 6.5 hours, then a 2 hour line to get into a place where they were serving food. I haven't had a cold beverage in a whole month. Thankfully I had a water filter jug where i was filtering so I was good on actual drinking water.
One week after the devastation a miracle happened. The water cameback YAY! 1st thing was to flush the toilet, get a decent shower and collect some more on canisters, just in case. Little did I imagined, some debris hit a solar water heater on my roof and broke some pipes. Water was pouring out in such a manner the it was actually flooding my terrace. All I could do was laugh, the irony.
About 4 days later the problem with the water flood was fixed but then the water went out again... good thing i collected some more huh.
Now we're living just a day at a time. Every days is a hunt.
-Ok, what do we need? 1st... food... there I saw some food trucks... cash only... ok... there is one ATM working nearby lets go... OMG, the line was so big, there were people standing under the scorching sun for 3 hours and they weren't even half way down. By mare coincidence i found a Walgreens that just opened and had limited access but there was an ATM inside that worked... Thankfully the line i did was only about 45 minutes. Bought 2 citronella candles, one aroma candle (there is a foul smell everywhere) and 4 awkward candles that people use for rituals, a can of pineapple juice and bread... thats all they had T__T
With cash on hand, small on provisions my BF and I aren't so bad. even thou we're just having one meal a day, we stuff ourselves enough to last us till nigh. Hungry, drink a glass of water and go to bed. Heat and mosquitoes.
It didn't help that the government issued a curfew from 6pm to 5am (scalpers and robbers were being dicks and assaulting people for their much needed gas and even stealing generators ... seriously!) the time you had to do everything was short. Too many long lines. later it got moved from 9pm to 5am.
As of today, October 9, 2017, we are still in total darkness. I finally got in contact with friends and family, got water running back at the house, no flooding (must of my friends are with running water too). Curfew got moved to 12am till 5am. The Prohibition of alcohol Law or what we call as Dry Law got lifted. the last two days before i spent the night hanging out at a bear's bar the THANKFULLY didn't suffer mayor damages and were able to open. I laughed, had fun with strangers, Friends I haven't seen since Irma were there. We hugged and cried. We even sang Karaoke.
The recovery is slow, so slow. I heard there is military involvement and such but during this time i haven't seen any. Everything so far has been thanks to the very efforts of civilians and the willingness of people to actually do something and help. Even I contributed in the only ways i could. Gave lifts, had people over to shower and collect water, etc. But government's officials i have seen none.
Then i heard something that disturbed me on the radio... Trump came over and... did he just made fun of us? the officials he thanked so much where are they? What is the media selling to the outside world!? Lies... that much i can tell u.
Why can I write this catharsis of a journal? well, my workplace (where i had to help clear debris and clean up cuz the roof flew off) has a diesel generator and they have a contact who gets them the fuel they need to operate in a minimal but functional way. There is internet too. And here I am. Stronger than ever, trying to keep the calm.
But i'm so exhausted... its been a month and the officials are saying it will be about 8 months to a year and a half ... so here we go. Send me strength cuz for the next 7 months... maybe, and thats a huge maybe we can have some normal and to the very least. have a good night sleep.

Posted 10 years agoHello everyone, Its been a while since my last journal, and a while since I've drastically slowed my submissions. But with work and all and been quite hard to find the spare time to draw and paint. Lately I've been felling quite motivated to make an extra effort (Lets see how long it lasts).
SO HERE IS THE QUESTION.
I've been contemplating the idea of changing Illution's design from a harmless even kinda childish look that he has, to a more mature one, not necessarily aggressive.
I dunno, as I grew alder and mature I feel that Illution should as well. Right now he often gets confused with a donkey, that sucks, so I should give him a more reptile features, still staying true to the fact the he IS a mammal dragon and thus has no scales... but yes body hair... I don't know, so what do you guys think? or any suggestions?

I had EVERYTHING in there. My 3DS with 3 games... my BF's 3DS with all of his games... my PSP, MP3 Player. House keys, sketchbook... Doctor's referral for an appointment I have this Tuesday.

Can't begin to explain the anger and frustration I'm feeling right now. Couldn't sleep last night, and to this very moment I'm still very upset. Hundreds of dollars and sacrifice to to obtain then while in a recessive state... both of us has no jobs and we did accommodations to give ourselves a nice long lasting treat... ... ... ... All lost... Everything... T____________T I'm so angry... So angry.

I'm in a full-time job doing what I love most, Drawing and graphic design. Thou its only temporary by contract, all the work I've done in the company motivated me a lot to keep forward and creating constantly.
Still got no internet back home so that's why I haven't been on at all. Also due to all the porn in FA I cannot peek back at the office I work at hehehehe God I miss porn!...
Anyways I'm waiting for a internet service to be installed. thou its taking for ever... about a month now >__> what the hell could be happening?... So When I gat back up there will be a few surprises for ya'll hope to see you all soon.

Dahte is doing great, he is walking even running, but still not fully healed. I was able to raise the $ to cover his operation and I thank you all deeply for it.
Paypal could be a pest sometimes. They only let me retrieve $500 monthly... I retrieved the first half (gotta wait a another month to be able to retrieved the full amount) That's why it has taken us so long to star the procedure.
The entire fund is Safe in an alternate account for Dahnte's purpose only. BUT!!....
I've been in a financial pinnacle lately. My unemployment insurance has expired... my Car is behind 3 months, gotta pay electric bills, phone among other things. I'm very tempted to use Dahnte's funds just not to loose the car... So here is what I propose...
Someone told me about the Iron artist thingy... which is 100 sketches $10 each... I have never done this nor knows how does ir works...
AS A STARTING POINT. I would like to practice starting with all who donated for Dahnte's sake, There were many people who's E-mail I do not recognize and they didn't ask for anything. So please let me give you at least a sketch as a thank you, practice, example and promotion for this Iron artist... I plan on doing $200 sketches to put my car up to date, pay the elect. bill & internet.
on the next journal I will make a list of the iron artist participants. I dunno how this works... Should I make badges of 25 weekly? Should I put a time limit for participants...

Posted 13 years agoWell We went to the Vet for a check up. He is doing good aside from all the scares this guy gives me. But now it seems Dahnte is having a urine infection. Damn! it never ends >_< but the Vet said the method we're using to take care of him is perfect. All that rests now is to wait :(

Bought a Kernel to keep him from moving around.
Vet said The surgery was not gonna be necessary for the time being. But, in six weeks he is gonna start a different treatment. Its WAY CHEAPER.
now all is left is check up on him constantly, give him his meds. take him out twice a day and clean him up just like a baby ^__^.
Some Refunds are on their way.

Dahnte's new condition
Posted 13 years agoFirst of all I want to thank EVERY ONE, this has been very overwhelming. thank you, I cannot express my gratitude.
To all who donated... please... its not just donation, Its commission, I never pretended to receive money so freely, there has been some debate that this might be a scam... truth is, I should post the bill, yes, but I don't have it, doc never gave me it. So far the bill I have is the one about the hospitalization.
If it help will post that one along the other one.
anyways... Surgeon called today. Said that Dahnte has stabilized, not critical, he still needs surgical intervention but its not going to be a huge a deal as first (thank god) the vet hasn't talked numbers yet... Well first of, I'm working on some iPad games. A cousin of mine studies game design and programming in Korea, now he's back to this shitty island (don't know why but thank you god) he showed me a project he wants to release for the 20th (its free) as a test. I'm gonna be doing the graphics and animation. Everything is 8-Bit (I LOVE IT) so far so good and it looks promising.
Still with no real job thou. This whole game thing can't really charge since we're not selling anything. so yeah, its just a test to see how it goes. If we become a success then we'll move to bigger projects. All 8-bit & 16-bit thus far.
I'm falling behind in my bills thou I don't pay rent but since I'm paying late all the time the interests rates are accumulating and nothing is going down. I have more free time too so please.

So far we get along great! we're very cramped thou cuz grams used to save a lot of crap, newspapers, cards, boxes, figurines etc. plus my BF and I have A LOT of our own crap so we're throwing away what we know we're not gonna use and so on, so on...

Just lost my health insurance (La Reforma, it's like a public health insurance)
Still haven't found a real Job... now my BF just lost his Job... our only support to get by... meaning... we're gonna have to move god knows where... get rid of our children (my little chow chow mutt bitch Kiyomi and the Siberian husky Dahnte) cuz we wont be able to support them... tears are running down my face... Those are my babies... My BF's car... can't pay it... I have a few debts and credit cards to pay up... My phone Will expire in 5 days and have no internet (can't pay it) I'm gonna go crazy!!!! The money situation is getting worse and worse... still got no job (not a real one) I'll lose my cellphone tomorrow or after tomorrow (got the to "be disconnected" message) My last check was to pay only the electric and water bill... $400... yes, cut of the surgery I could not work for a whole month so yeah... now there is some random bill about $186 of god knows what.
Got no food in the fridge.. Can't go out any where cuz I got only $5 in cash a few coins not making not even one buck... and $1 in my ATM account... *sigh* I'm so Tired of this fucking Country where art and anything related is a Joke an nothing to be considered professionally...
The high season for work in a mall or any stupid shop is receding so good luck finding any now... also since my car broke down it makes it harder, cuz I have to relay in public transportation, every shop wants night par-timers... and believe me when I say... Puerto Rico's Public transportation is the worst kind there can ever be... take my word on that!

Posted 14 years agoThe pain still hasn't completely gone.... sometimes I bleed, sometimes I don't bleed at all.... But I'm doing all better.
Past Wednesday I went to my doctor, he Said I had to walk (are you insane!! were my thoughts) but ok I did the effort... that very day after the visit my bath room looked like a murder scene... blood everywhere, dripping, the pain, it was horrible.... but after a while and a hard time eliminating the scent of blood everything was fine.
This past weekend was Puerto Rico's Gay Parade of Cabo Rojo (south west coast area) since The Doc Said I had to walk, oh well.... he prescribed pelco drug... very good one indeed for the pain... I had a great time... with the pain and all...
Sunday around noon I got a horrible chill and a pain felt deep from the heart... my grandmother has passed away... After the crying tantrum... I was already in pelco, one of my friends rolled up some pod... I sucked up two good ones of it, and my fridns gave me quite some drinks... and then the world was beautiful again... but only temporary....
Yesterday was the burial, I hate those... I can to the funeral no problem but the burial is just to painful to watch... my sister somehow convinced me to go... so I went... When they started lowering that box... I almost ran out of air.
I was very closed to my grandma... of all of her grand sons, I was the closest to her...
Well.... I'm sorry I've been gone for a while... but I'm all better now, I can sit down like normal people do again hehe so I'll keep on working and drawing some more naughty stuff.

This past weekend was Puerto Rico's Gay Parade of Cabo Rojo (south west coast area) since The Doc Said I had to walk, oh well.... he prescribed pelco drug... very good one indeed for the pain... I had a great time... with the pain and all...
Sunday around noon I got a horrible chill and a pain felt deep from the heart... my grandmother has passed away... After the crying tantrum... I was already in pelco, one of my friends rolled up some pod... I sucked up two good ones of it, and my fridns gave me quite some drinks... and then the world was beautiful again... but only temporary....
Yesterday was the burial, I hate those... I can to the funeral no problem but the burial is just to painful to watch... my sister somehow convinced me to go... so I went... When they started lowering that box... I almost ran out of air.
I was very closed to my grandma... of all of her grand sons, I was the closest to her...
Well.... I'm sorry I've been gone for a while... but I'm all better now, I can sit down like normal people do again hehe so I'll keep on working and drawing some more naughty stuff.
A Painful Recovery
Posted 14 years agowell... my BF bought a pre-paid internet plan so yay! here I am again....
Surgery Was a success!... Strange thou... It was a weird and frighting experience... when the anesthetic wore off the pain a indescribable... I couldn't move my legs... hell I could barely move at all... I started to toss and turn... Moaning in pain crying like crazy and no nurse came to my aid... There where some other patients sitting far away looking at me... just talking between themselves and pointing... my thoughts were "dammit go look for help" it was until I was able to lift one arm up shaking it that they were like "oh look he's calling" IDIOTS! I've been crying for more than half an hour!! ... anyways... nurse came in injected me with morphine... Pain never went away.... after 2 hours another nurse came in and injected me with more morphine... didn't work either... Also they said they wouldn't sent me home until I pee.... God that was so hard... Serum kept filling me up... bladder was so full it made pressure where the surgery took place... It took 3 rounds of little pee.... around 3pm they sent me home... hungry, thirsty, dizzy and in constant pain...
Yesterday was horrid... I couldn't pee normally, it would just... peeing, stop... peeing and stop... it was so hard i had to involuntarily push... hurting me more. I had to get up (somehow) every 20mins too try and pee due to the serum... this morning I was able to to do it in one blow, ahhh feels so good!... but to get it started is quite hard. I'm still in pain, the pills.. I think they are called ultracep or something like that... they just make me a little drowsy but no pain relive.
Still recovering steadily changing bloody pads and whatnot... I can walk too... but not seat for too long >_<
Can't eat solids, only gelatin, Icecream and soups. urgh.. I want a domino's carbonara pasta bowl!!! hehehe
