QUITTING CRAPPY SHIFT JOB, GOING FREELANCE ILLUSTRATOR/ KNITTING AND CROCHET BUSINESS OWNER ETC. Big stuff. So... I'll be at Rainfurrest! I'm looking to share a dealers table with anyone who can, so if you're interested, hit me up! I will be selling lots of cute knit and crochet things, taking commissions, selling prints, and also selling some adult art things (although they won't be all taking up the entire damn table because I don't like being a creeper to people that don't dig that kind of thing. Moved to Seattle. That was pretty much the big slow process of the year, stemming from events that accumulated last Christmas. After that big ordeal, it was like all of my progress was lumped into the latter half of the year. I learned the basics of cooking and how to do a LOT of everyday things that I otherwise took for granted. I took the bus by myself, conquered many fears concerning exploring my surroundings without being accompanied. I completed a detailed costume, learned to knit, and came more to terms with "myself" on an independent basis, and I like it. c:
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Didn't really make any for last year. Two years prior, I didn't meet the goal of keeping a sketch journal throughout the year, although I tried. I got stressed over trying to put TOO much effort into making "completed" drawings every day of the year, which caused me to drop it. I'm starting anew on that this year, and making it more of a simple art journal; I'll draw some things that are on my mind, keep it rough and freeform, and just write small entries, more like a traditional journal. Less like a big art commitment, more like a thought input station. c:
Oh, and I resolve to floss daily.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope. NO BABIES.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No. There were more deaths of relationships and eras in my life that happened this year, which can be just as sad, in a way.
5. What countries did you visit?
The glorious empire of Portland, Oregon.
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
A college education, or the start of one. Maybe a driver's license? More money, to be shallow.
7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I guess I'll say PAX, if I just have to pick one. It was wonderful just having a completely GOOD time with Lai, costuming, and first meeting the friends I have here now. c:
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Moving away from Texas, and learning to just GET ON with my life.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Putting little/no effort into getting a driver's license, again, and still not having one. B|
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Got sick a few times, even to the point of calling in a day or so to miss work, and being sent home once since I just looked SO BAD, neither of which had happened before.
11. What was the best thing(s) you bought?
Probably my Intuos 4 tablet, which was also the most expensive individual thing I bought this year. I LOVE IT.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Both Lai and I got better at dealing with things outright, and being more assertive towards our goals, and in taking action at getting things done.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Lai's dad, my parents. Lol.

FOOD, RENT, RANDOM SHIT. My expensive-ass tablet. B|

General | Posted 16 years agoSO, I decided since I guess the furry community seems to like TF2 pretty much a lot (seriously, what the hell is up with that), I'm dumping some TF2 art here as well. The TF2 fandom's been taking up WAY more of my time than general anthro art lately, even spreading to rampant cosplay and a private tour of Valve with bros (which was fucking awesome). That's pretty much the reason behind no art here lately.

Feral! con. FURRIES IN THE WOODS.

So, Feral is some kind of furry con that isn't really a con, since it's a camp, for furries. In all honesty, this seemed like a pretty cool concept, since I love running around outdoors and camping, etc. So, I kind of wanted to go -
But in inspecting the scrapbook it just seems like some tremendous circle-jerk for ~otherkin~ or something like that, involving howling in the woods and discussing past lives as a canid. I am sad. Who knows, maybe it's different, but I've never been and I probably never will go.
But, hurm. The only feelings of longing for this seem to be based around me wanting to go camping, or to wander around in the woods, since I haven't done those things in a very long time. BUT I don't really know any other nature-outdoorsy dorks like I am, at least not in Seattle/Washington, anyway. Saaaaad.

General | Posted 16 years agoSo apparently the guest of honor at AC '10 is going to be James Gurney, author and artist of the Dinotopia series. This had me in QUITE THE MENTAL CONFLICT since he is definitely my favorite book illustrator - I still keep my original Dinotopia book on hand and look at it often - and seeing him would really be amazing.
On the other hand, I don't think I like furry cons THAT much. CREEPERS EVERYWHERE. I went to Califur several years back, and aside from there being quite a few awesome people, it was p. much balanced out by the masses of ridiculously socially inept individuals present.
What's more, I don't need something, once again, tricking me into thinking fursuiting is a good idea. Waste. Of. Time (andmoney).
PAX and tf2 cosplay was so ridiculously amazing in contrast, without there being the ever-present undertones of standing-next-to-pedophiles. I'll likely just try to keep my interests and funds focused towards that for next year. (making pyro cosplays for Lai + I yaaayyy)

General | Posted 16 years agoAKA Ily finally stopped hyperventilating, although all previous hyperventilation has been replaced with complete bliss-induced cardiac arrest.
Honestly? This is the greatest movie I have ever seen. I am in complete, utter, blissful love. This is all based a lot around personal preference (but hey, what isn't?), but the cinematic style is perfect, the themes are EXACTLY right up my alley, and the aliens are by far the greatest creatures I have ever seen created, period. Honestly, I am not exaggerating, out of every alien, creature, monster, and fantasy being I have ever seen anyone dream up, THESE are IT.
I just love their structure and form, and they were just so expressive and human. Using the aliens to represent a complete facet of humanity was part of the main point of D9. Maybe it's that fact that caused them to develop into such amazing creatures, since suddenly I've been presented with an alien that's not really alien at all. It's just a complete gift that they also LOOK exactly like I would have wanted them to look. It's like this movie was made for me. :I
I still call them Poleepkwa, since it was the name they were referred to in Alive in Joburg. Non-humans and Aliens seem too ambiguous, and Prawn was a derogative term in the film, so that's my reasoning.
The last time I voluntarily saw a movie still in theaters more than once was X-Men 2 back in junior high, and that was mostly just because I was fangirling over X-Men at the time. I think I saw it 5 times, including going to the premiere in Hollywood (lol fuck I won tickets on the radio). I've already seen D9 twice, and I want to go back over, and over, and over, FFFF~
