Posted 14 years agoAfter much debate I decided that I will be posting art shortly.
There will be a few steps before.
1) Hook up the scanner. (It did not work on my other computer, but I'll see what happens on my new one).
2) Download GIMP (for touching up/ coloring my art).
3) Begin creating.
Note that I will start by drawing me. After that we'll have to see.

The word "Don't"
Posted 14 years agoI have noticed that people seem to ignore the word "Don't."
For example: A parent tells a kid "Don't hit your brother." What a kid actually hears is "Hit your brother" and because this is what the parent says the kid follows suit.
Another: In horror movies, there are clearly marked doors that say "Don't Enter." Yet they still enter and are destroyed by some alien radioactive mutant ill-tempered bunny.
So don't use don't which now you probably will not use don't or maybe you'll do use don't because one don't may nullify the first don't which probably means by now that you will do or maybe don't depending on if you count the all seven don'ts or this eighth one I said and... (passes out from "Over-Don'ting").

Why Art as a name?
Posted 15 years agoSo some of you may be wondering why I chose the name Art.
It actually is for three reasons.
One, since the furry fandom is a celebration of furry arts (drawing, writing, fursuits, ect.) Art seems appropriate.
Two, since I'm a lover of all things art like music and movies, it also seems appropriate.
Third, Art is actually a joke as people would always mistake my name, calling my Tom or John. When correcting them, they said I look like a Tom or a John, whatever that means. I decided that I should just give up and change my name to Art.
Plus, I don't think many furries can forget or mispronounce my name!

I think that this is an American or even a human thing. To establish a sense of control over our universe we tend to label and compartmentalize things. This goes for people especially. We try to put people in little boxers.
The problem is we are not one single definition. We are complex.
Take me for example.
I am not just a furry.
I'm a writer, LARPer, moviegoer, lover of all things fantasy, power metal fan, amusement park fan, video game fan, addicted to dark chocolate, Anime fan, etc.
I try to incorporate everuthing into my life, however tiring it can be to make time for everything I want to do.
I think that this is an American or even a human thing. To establish a sense of control over our universe we tend to label and compartmentalize things. This goes for people especially. We try to put people in little boxers.
The problem is we are not one single definition. We are complex.

How I became a furry?

Well, it was a dark stormy night. I was working late in a laboratory when I accidentally spilled some chemicals onto me. Soon I began to grow purple fur and claws and a tail and...
Wait a minute. You want to know how actually I became a furry, as in the member of the fandom, eh?
Well, looking back to my childhood, I would prefer watching cartoons that had furries like Looney Tunes, Mickey Mouse, Animaniacs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, etc. Then I had a reawakening when in high school I began searching for fantasy art which led to furry art. This was pre-YouTube, pre-DeviantArt, and pre-FurAffinity. Searching for art required time therefore, looking at each artist's website. Then I found my first metasite for art, Furnation. There I found lots of new artists and art. Eventually I found others which led to here. I also over the years gathered some furry friends together which allowed me to expand my fandom experience.
So for me I've been a furry for much of my life, and I continue to do so over the next years.

What it means to be a furry
Posted 15 years agoI think a great icebreaker for my newish channel is to tell a little about me, starting with what it means to be a furry.
For me a furry is either a character with both human and animal qualities and a person who likes these characters. Let's break it down into the two parts. I take a broad view of what a furry is character wise. A character has to have to have human and animal qualities. Furry. Is it a cute fox girl? Furry. A Sonic-esque character? Furry A bird creature? Furry although the more correct term would be an Avian.
Really anything goes with a few exceptions. One is of Anime catgirls, doggirls, etc. Sticking ears and a tail on a character does not for me constitute a furry but an Anime character. The other includes a regular animal that talks like a human. I see this as a talking animal rather than a furry.
It all comes down to balance between human and animal qualities. The more a character is 50% human and 50% animal is the closer that character is towards what a person would call an undisputed furry. Once someone gets to the 90% 10% ratio, things get grey as to whether this is a furry.
Now this is not a slap to those who think than Anime characters with ears and tails or talking animals are furries, this is your preferance.
Next part, what does a furry mean in terms of a person in the furry fandom. This is also broad for me. Do you draw furries? You're a furry. How about writing or role playing or going to conventions or fursuiting? Furry furry furry furry. Everyone who just has a great interest in the fandom, whether they create something or not is a furry. No art medium is better than the others.
So there you have it, my view on the furry creatures and fandom.

Now that I have taken care of that information, let me welcome you to my site for those who haven't visited here.
I am a writer by trade, mostly because writing comes naturally to me but also because drawing does not. In time I may be able to draw, but that will be a while.
You will soon see some short stories about several of my characters which I hope you get to know them.
