We're trying to get a dance competition coordinated for this year! We need competitors, and we need judges. Email pandez[at]indyfurcon.com about it. Technically he's our marketing guy, but he's coordinating with Alkali in trying to garner enough interest so we can make this happen :D

INDYFURCON 2014 INFORMATION!!!
Indyfurcon will be returning to the Sheraton at Keystone Crossings in 2014 on Labor Day weekend Aug 29th to 31st!
To preemptively answer some questions you may have:
WOW THAT'S PRETTY LATE IN AUGUST! YOU'VE ALWAYS BEEN EARLIER!
Yes, this is much later in the month than we have ever been since our inception. This is an issue we have, unfortunately, known about for some time. This is why previously, we decided to put it to you, the attendees, if we should change months at all. Since the overwhelming majority of emails/tweets/etc said to stay a summer/August convention we are doing what needs to be done to make that happen. If need be we would have broken contract (or modified it) to switch to a different time of year, but you spoke and we listened. Indianapolis is becoming quite the place to hold events in August. The Drum Corps International Finals competition, GENCON, The state Fair just to name a very few of the many events and conventions taking up hotel rooms and convention space in Indy next August. Short of pushing right back into September, or holding iFC mid july (about 2 weeks after Anthrocon) The Labor Day weekend was our only summer option for 2014.
IS THIS GOING TO BE THE NEW DATE FROM NOW ON?
Absolutely Not! We've always been mid to early August and that's where we intend to be in 2015. We've already got contracts in the works to put us back at an earlier date, though the particular weekend is not 100% final yet. Not to mention there are other furry events that happen Labor Day weekend we do not wish to compete with. We intend to do everything in our power to be on a weekend that does not compete with another event. We want to ensure our attendees have the ability to attend our event AND any others. As the furry community, and number of conventions grows, this will be an increasingly difficult thing to do. But we promise to do everything we can to keep you from having to choose between two popular events.
WASN'T THERE AN ISSUE LAST YEAR ABOUT FURSUITING AT INDYFURCON?
There was a mis-communication last year that we at iFC take full responsibility for. The Sheraton ENTHUSIASTICALLY wants us back. However, we have made it completely clear to the Keystone Sheraton that our fursuiters are a MAJOR part of our attendees. It would be like nobody dressed as batman or wolverine at a comic-con style convention if they weren't there. There are certain legal issues and they cannot allow masked individuals in the BAR area - so you will have to de-head to purchase any alcoholic beverages there, but it IS IN OUR CONTRACT that fursuits are more than welcome in the lobby and anywhere in our convention space .... at ANY time of the day.

CAN WE GET THEM TO NOT HAVE THE KEYCARDS IN THE ELEVATORS - THAT WAS REALLY ANNOYING FOR THE SUITERS!
We are still working on that. The short answer is, probably not. BUT - we've got a number of things to make it easier on the fursuiters in the works, such as a designated volunteer with a keycard on our level at the elevator during peak times who can punch the floor needed on the suiters' behalf.

You voiced your opinions and we listened closely.
The overwhelming majority of emails and tweets and PM's all indicated to stay in August, so that's what we are doing.
For those who did suggest moving months we appreciate your opinion and will keep that in mind for the future and thank you sincerely for telling us what you want.
Details are being finalized as we speak.
We took a look at all available dates and venues to stay in August and the second the contract is signed we will update you all with all available information.
We apologize for the delay - but competition for hotel space for a convention was fierce for Aug 2014.
It seems Indianapolis is quite the venue for a number of different groups next year - hence why we looked into potential alternatives.
We would also like to remind you we are still looking for people to staff and/or volunteer for 2014.
Whatever you're interested in doing to potentially help PLEASE get in touch with pandez[at]indyfurcon.com or ryn[at]indyfurcon.com .
Do you want to help in the games room, watch doors, help with AV setup, help unload our storage unit, help load out monday

(He promises to get your information over to the right dept - Just let us know your strenghts and weaknesses so we can try and find the right spot for you.)
If you have convention experience already that's of course a big plus!

WHEN should Indyfurcon be held?
