All I want for Christmas...
Posted 8 years agoIs a new fursona, I think! I love Tichan a lot, but she's very much a representative of an old me. She's shy, idealistically thin, not very colorful, and very inspired by other fursonas that I admired in my early days of being a furry. Since then I've created secondary fursonas and adopted, like, half a dozen creatures that are more my style. Bright, colorful, deviant and hobby obsessed.
So, I'm saving up to hopefully get a new Fursona created. Probably something Corgi-like, with a sweets theme. I'm still thinking of all the logistics and specifics that I want for my new face~!

Posted 8 years agoIt has been YEARS since I've been here and I want to come back! I couldn't quite wrap my head around doing commission work in the past, but I've definitely had plenty of time to grow and rethink my strategies. So, I think I will return to the FA scene with my decoden work and some custom pony work as well!

Posted 12 years agoWhy does summer always have to grind my nerves the wrong way? Dad goes into the hospital for a week, I've got to mediate for my parents taking my brother to college because they can't talk to him without him getting defensive or shutting down on them, conventions drive me up the wall and then I thought. Then I thought I could get myself a nice present for my birthday in the form of a puppy.
My friend and I got a pair of puppies last month and... well... I'm learning why you have a separate room for your arts and crafts. (and also why you don't bring home two puppies from the same litter)
I came home earlier this week to find that Chuck, my friend's puppy, had knocked over my supply box. I didn't think much of it until I went to work on
sugarcat's pony. He'd gotten into the two bags of hair I had in there, tore the bags open and tangled all the hair beyond repair. Then I noticed, as I was shuffling the bags and the bodies around, that everything was damp. Pee. He'd peed in my box. Not a lot, mind you, but when I hastily scooped the box up from him, I shook all the pee around inside.
I could almost cry I'm so upset, because I'm already stupid behind on this trade and this definitely didn't help. No matter, I'm ordering a new hair tonight. It took everything in me not to scream at him. He's just a puppy, after all, I shouldn't be surprised that my box of odd smelling/feeling things was so damn enticing.
Auuuugh. At least he didn't eat any of the hair. As far as I could see, anyways.
Also, after I get Sugar's trade done, I don't think I'll be doing ponies again, not for trade/commission anyways. I simply don't dedicate the time I need to and that's just unfair to other people. I kept trying and trying, but in the end, I just don't keep myself motivated enough. Bleh.

Okay, so, my work schedule is all messed up and I will not be getting the hours I need to save up the money I want for my upcoming convention. That means cheap (hopefully quick) custom ponies!
And for those of you already waiting on a custom from me, mainly sugarcat, it will be joining me this weekend for a three hour long car ride with little to no distractions!
Awh, yeah. $20 plus shipping, unless you'll be at San Japan next month then we can nix the shipping and I'll bring it to you myself!
What will $20 get you?

Thinking About Selling off A Design

He's suppose to be a shark-snake naga hybrid, but, for whatever reason, this design just isn't what I want. So I'm thinking about selling this current design and saving up the money to get a proper, new design for him.
Things about this design:
-the green stripes were suppose to represent the snake blood in him (just turned out looking gaudy)
-he has the ability to shape his bones around in his tail to either be full naga, bi-pedal plantigrade, or bi-pedal digitigrade (I plan on keeping that)
-thresher shark tail

Might Have to Take a Break
Posted 12 years agoFrom FA. I've been trying to pinpoint all the things that are stressing me out lately and ease back from them. I find that a lot of my problems stem from feeling guilty for things I shouldn't feel guilty about and reinforcing habits that "fix" my guilt, but in the long run don't help me.
In the case of FA, I see all these artists and people that I like who are struggling or need money for this or that this month and I cannot stop myself from buying art or donating. I can't. I feel like a complete asshole when I do, especially when I just want to pop into a stream to relax. It's not relaxing anymore, not when I find myself spending huge chunks of my paychecks on art, instead of saving it up so I can move out of my parents' house in August. It's actually gotten to the point where I feel ill when I'm in a stream and an artist asks if anyone wants art and I don't jump on it. I have to wrestle with myself to not buy all the time.
I don't spend an exorbitant amount of money anywhere else in my life as consistently as I do with art. Shit, I've been wanting to buy new shoes for months now and just haven't. Fucking why? I don't know!
Anyways, yeah. I'm probably going to take a break from FA, or, at least, not check it as often. When I AM on, I'll see if I can't keep myself budgeted.

I'd like to see them drawn with other people's characters, instead of always being by themselves. I have a lot of artist friends who are in need of money and I know a lot of organizations around town in need of money as well. So I mulled these thoughts around in my head and started to formulate an idea. What if I got some of these said artist friends together and did a bunch of ladder auctions with my characters + the bidders' characters? And, with every step of the ladders reach, I would donate either x amount of money or a toy/wish to a local charity?
My parents have told me I've grown out of wanting Christmas presents and they never want anything because they've already bought it for themselves. I still wanna do something nice for Christmas and this sounds like fun.
How it'd break-down:

>I will front the money for the sketch level of the drawing (if it doesn't pan out, the artist still gets paid and hey, I get a picture)

Your Character Here Auctions with a Holiday Twist!
Here's the deal. My family doesn't actually do Christmas presents anymore, but I just love giving and receiving that I still get them presents anyways AND I want to do something for my community. And I'd like your help! I want to offer up my characters to artists for ladder-style TCBY/YCH couples pictures, with the money from the winning bid going all to the artist. Also, while the bidding is happening, I will make either a monetary donation or a toy/wish donation to a charity for each rung of the ladder reached.
The (Tenative) Process:
1. Find an artist who isn't too busy (either by approaching them *meep* or through volunteers)
2. I will front the artist's price for a two-character sketch, so if the auction tanks, the artist still gets paid and hey, I have a picture!
3. The artist will sketch out an agreed upon prepose idea with one slot taken up by one of my characters.
4. Auction begins! The opening bid will be the price I paid for the sketch, then each rung of the ladder reached (sketch, ink, flats, shading, etc) will be marked with me donating either money or a toy/wish to a charity.
5. Auction ends! The artist collects their money, the winning bidder gets their picture, I donate, and everyone has a good time!

Posted 13 years agoOkay, so... my characters aren't even remotely popular. I'm sure I'd at least have a few fans if I ever WROTE anything anymore, but I generally just suck and buy art all the time. But I DO have characters and they all have backstories and such. I refer to them as The Den and they are the characters that appear in this poem:

So, I kinda wanted to do an Ask Tumblr thing for a couple reasons; kill time over the summer, get some signal boostage for some of my favorite, yet lesser known, artists, and to get me back into the habit of writing.
...yeah, just kinda... thinking aloud. I'd have to commission artists to do the pictures for me, since I can't draw and don't have the patient and would rather just give some nice artists some free advertising.
