Work Update
Posted 11 years agoHey all, sorry for being so distant.
I talked to my manager and the owner of the business (who consequentially are now my only co-workers). The owner was on my side about the whole deal and more than willing to help, and thanked me profusely for coming to her first, instead of my hotheaded manager.
When I talked to my manager about the issue, she basically told me that her problem was about my co-worker that quit, even though the letter was clearly addressed to the both of us. I think she was feeling guilty and so the rest of the conversation, she tried to turn it around and make it a hate fest about him. I think I maybe got a sideways apology in there somewhere, but I think I got through to her.
This ridiculous note business is hopefully over with, and I've been told by customers, family members, and even the owner that my manager needs to learn to communicate more effectively (and less rudely).
TL;DR
I'm working at least 40 hours a week now due to the absence of my coworker, hence my inactivity. I'm still finding time for artwork, and I'd like to get my promised adopts out before school starts in a couple weeks here, but it's going to be a bit slow.

Probably Quitting my Job. [Help?]
Posted 11 years agoI hate to make rash decisions, but I have been so stressed out with how my manager has been treating me, and my co-worker found a letter and quit today.
It reads, and I quote:
"Please Understand-- The Customer is important but you have other duties too! Leaving things undone time after time is childish. Not only does it breed bad feelings but creates and "I don't care" atmosphere. Several customers have commented on both of your lack of ownership.
No more sitting on your phones behind the bar. unless it is a medical emergency phones are prohibited while on duty."
This note was written on the back of a printed itinerary--something I have yet to have seen while working at this place for two months--describing what each day should be and what special events we are supposed to have been doing each day (which is kind of hard without knowing these things from the start).
Also, Kevin and I occasionally leave things undone--but they're things that don't need to be done. Like wiping off tables no one uses, not vaccuming the floor if no one has sat there all day, etc. I find it very hard to validate doing everything when even my manager, the one who wrote this letter, by the way, doesn't do things intentionally either, and then gets on our cases about doing the exact same thing. That's hypocrisy. An example just the other day: manager doesn't clean the grill, and I show up the next day, wondering what to do. We always clean the grill, but her reasoning was "I just cooked one brat on it, that was all so I didn't clean it". She is literally getting on our cases for doing the exact same thing that she is doing.
Kevin is also on his phone a lot. I started to check my messages recently, because sometimes we have hours where no one is in the bar. The manager usually plays cards. That's why I started drawing for you guys during my free time at work, because I figured being on my phone wasn't okay.
Time and time again my manager snarks at us for things we were never told to do, or things that even she doesn't do herself, and this note is the last straw. Should I quit? I don't know what to do =___=

RIGHTS & CREDIT
• Purchasing an adoptable gives you full rights to the character/outfit/adopt.

• You may make small edits to an adoptable you purchase, provided the design is still easily recognizable as the original.

REFUNDS, RESELLING ETC.
• I am willing and able to hold any of my adoptables for you for a short amount of time. I do not however, accept payment plans for any of my adopts.
• Reselling and re-trading of my adoptables is OK as long as: 1) you are the original owner of the design, or you have purchased the rights to the design from another user and 2) it is at or below the price you paid for the image--but please notify me first if possible. In rare cases, I may want to purchase the design back from you.
• I would prefer to be notified if one of my designs changes hands.
• I will not allow refunds after a custom adoptable has been started or created. If you no longer desire the design you have purchased and I have not started work on it however, I will refund you.

As someone who just recently moved in with her significant other, this really hits home for me. I would be terrified if I were in her situation, so if you check out her gallery and like whatcha see, go give her some support!
She has 6 more slots open for full body commissions but I'm sure if they're out of your price range she'd do icons or something as well. But then again I can't speak for other artists :P

Serious Work Concern and Adoptable Info
Posted 11 years agoI say serious but at the end of the day, money isn't nearly as serious as other things could be... At any rate.
My heart just sunk into my stomach--got a text from a coworker that work (I serve/cook/bartend at a local german brewpub) is thinking about putting our tips toward the business itself and not the workers. That would mean a 60% + drop in my income at that job, and on top of it, I'm pretty sure that's illegal. Anyone know the laws regarding tips and minimum wage and whatnot in Wisconsin? I'm about to leave for a little while to go chat with my co-worker about what he heard. Maybe it's just a nasty rumor the brewer started spreading, but I don't know...
Regarding the egg adoptables--I'll be posting them once more tonight, and I'll leave them open for an hour before I let them go to thevultures rest of you guys. After an hour is passed, any remaining eggs will be open for purchase by anyone, regardless of previous adoptable purchases.
Cascade, the watery themed egg, will be put on auction. I don't know if I've made it too clear but I lovelovelove water (I have a water themed tattoo on my back) and I'm REALLY excited for this design, I want to make sure that the person who winds up with it cares enough to allow me to put a good amount of time into the design! I can hope x3
Anyway, off to work for a second, wish me luck...

I'm glad that you guys are watching, thanks for the support! I hope I can get some nice stuff out for you all to enjoy.
Dash and I got our mattress a little less than a week ago and OHM'GOD is it so much better than the crappy futon mattress we have been using. I have no more back or neck pain at night! Unfortunately work (RL work) has literally been a pain in my neck, but I won't get into that now.

Tomorrow's Lineup
Posted 11 years agoMore for my reference than anything, I've got quite a bit I can work on tomorrow, so I'm going to start a queue. I'm happy to say all of my adoptables have sold but one, which was an overwhelmingly better response today than any other time I have ever posted them, so I'll likely be doing more when the mood strikes me!
Anyway, on the list for tomorrow;
•Scan and color Stray's $3 Sketch of Jude.
•Headshot of Sew, an offsite character, for Beloved.
• Separate Aria Jackal and create a simple NSFW reference sheet for Scarlet_Aura.
• Separate Ginko Jackal and create a sumple NSFW reference sheet for raisay.
•Tan/brown/Blue egg adopt for Minimoo93 (Horned Eastern Dragon; Female; Playful)
•Purple/gold egg adopt for Scarlet_Aura (Sergal/Shark; Female; Devilish)
• Tan/teal egg adopt for sevenKalmia (Furred Dragon; Herm; Exquisite) (10)
• Orange/white egg adopt for tentaclelovegoddess (Maned Wolf; Female; Cute) (10)
• Yellow/white egg adopt for raisay (Liger; Male; Fabiotastic/Adonic) (20)
• Teal collared egg adopt for hodgepodgepawsie (Otter; Male; Freckled) (40)
• Purple/Green egg adopt for Scarlet_Aura (Bat; Female; Adventurous) (40)
Hopefully sometime in there our MATTRESS will be delivered tomorrow, man I am so sick of back pain from this crappy futon mattress. It's time to move in once and for all! After this mattress all I need is a desk and then all of the furniture is taken care of~
'Night all, seeya tomorrow!

$3 Ballpoint Sketches (Revamped)
Posted 11 years agoAll rightie! Well, now that I've done a few of these and have gotten a decent amount of interest, some things are going to change a little accordingly. I'll be keeping a lineup here, which I will only really be able to update when I have access to a computer (not my phone which I'm limited to at work).
$3 Ballpoint Pen Sketches.
• Headshot ($3) or Fullbody ($4).
Headshots will have more detail, because of the space I'm confined to on the paper.
Fullbodies will not have as much detail because of space constraints.
Feel free to provide me with an expression!
• SFW 'Nude' or Simplistic Clothing.
These MUST be safe for work, literally. I'm doing them at work.
• I choose the pose,
Or you can request one for $1 (for fullbodies).
Requesting specifics adds a lot of time to an otherwise quick doodle.
• Comment here to request a slot.
Send payment to bohemianbutterfly49@yahoo.com.
TL;DR
$3 for a headshot sketch.
$4 for a fullbody.
$5 for a fullbody with a requested pose.

Bored + Stuck at Work-- $3 Fullbody Sketches
Posted 11 years agoHey guys! Off work now, but I'll continue these sketches tomorrow (when I work again) and I'll post the few others I have done in the morning. Thanks for the interest!
We had no customers yesterday, today's looking just as slow.
I'm limited to ballpoint pen, that's why these are so cheap.
$3 per character if they're naked or simply clothed (I'm at work so naturally these will be SFW).
No slots, request as many as you like, send funds to bohemianbutterfly49@yahoo.com. Comment here please~ Basically doing this in place of the tips I'm not getting, hahah.

ONE Free Icon
Posted 11 years agoThis is currently closed, but keep an eye out for icon commissions coming soon!
Hey guys! I'm thinking about doing a batch of icons here sometime soon, but all of my examples are quite outdated. I have two icon types planned out, one being the general run-of-the-mill headshot type, the other being a smallish chibi sort of icon, where the entire character fits in the frame.
I'll be making myself a headshot icon, but if you have a somewhat simple character you'd like to have a 'chibi' icon of, post it here! I'll be drawing an icon of the first reference posted by someone I don't know (i.e. someone I didn't meet offisite/know well enough to chat with on skype).

Terms of Service and FAQ
Posted 11 years agoTerms of Service are Below. Please read before commissioning me. Adoptable-Specific Terms of Service are here.
When you commission the artist Inkmaven, you agree to the terms addressed below.
GENERAL
• The Artist (Inkmaven) reserves the right to send a refund/cancel a commission due to poor communication, rude or inappropriate behavior, or inability to communicate effectively.
• The Client (commissioner) agrees to only contact the artist about business related questions or requests via email or in some situations, Notes. Communication via IM or other channels is strictly prohibited. For various commission openings, the artist may post a list of acceptable communication methods.
• Artwork will not be started until payment is received, period. Larger-scale commissions are the only exception to this rule ($100+) may be started once at least half payment is received. No commission, YCH, or adoptable will progress past the sketch stage until the full amount due is received by the artist.
• Refunds are given on a case-by-case basis and determined by the artist. If the commission in the lining stage or before, or if less than 25% of the commission has been completed, a partial refund will be sent. If the artwork has been started, rights to a full refund are forfeited. If the commission is cancelled during the process of the lineart or after/ after 50% of the art is completed, no refund will be issued. If a commission is cancelled due to rude or inappropriate behavior, the commissioner will be blacklisted and barred from future commissions.
• Work will not contain depiction of illegal activities, excessive gore, or hateful images. Explicit and fetish material is considered on a case-by-case basis. The Artist reserves the right to reject any commission for any reason.
• ALL rights to commissioned work belong to the artist, including the right to make prints and merchandise. While the client still retains rights to their characters within the art, the artwork and all rights belong to the artist.
• Commissioners for large scale works (more than $100) are allowed to request WIP (Work in Progress) images, but may not always be immediately offered by the artist, with the exception of reference sheets and large scale illustrations. Work in Progresses will not be shown for commissions amounting to less than $50.
• When WIPs are shown, the commissioner is entitled to up to 4 small changes for free in total (i.e. 'change the hair color', 'fix the tail size', 'move the arm') but any more than 4 small changes will result in an extra labor charge ($20 per hour). The artist is not responsible for mistakes where a reference sheet is not available or the artwork provided does not clearly reference the necessary material. Extra labor charges must be paid before the final deliverable files (and all other applicable materials) are given to the commissioner.
• By sending payment for a commission, you agree to the Terms of Service and the contents explained in the FAQ below.
PAYMENT
• Unless otherwise specified, art with payment of less than $50 is taken in full before the commission begins. This secures your space on my queue. In the case of adoptables, All payment is taken immediately after a claim is made, before any extra work is done or any files are sent.
• For commissions larger than $50 if the commissioner prefers, payment can be split into two halves. One half (at least 50%) must be paid to secure your spot on the queue. The second half of the payment is expected when the first WIP is delivered to the commissioner. If it is not, the finished piece will be uploaded and watermarked until all payment is received. No high resolution images, unwatermarked files, or original copies will be released to the client until all payment is received.
• If a commissioner drops out of communication during their outstanding commission which is not fully paid, the commissioner forfeits their right to final deliverables (high res images, unwatermarked files, or originals). The artist will send at least two reminders via email or FA.
• Due to Paypal's recent ToS changes, I will be sending invoices for commissions larger than $50. If your commission is smaller than this amount and you pay me without an invoice, please only include your FA username in the comment section, nothing else. If your commission requires a payment plan, an invoice will be sent to you.
FILE USAGE
• You may repost my artwork that you have paid for in full on your personal furaffinity gallery, provided that you link back to my original post containing the work (if one exists) or back to my user page.
• You may NOT post my artwork on offsite galleries where you cannot link back to me, or where it is automatically copyrighted under your or another person's username! This includes sites like Deviantart. Sites like Toyhou.se that allow for a 'guest art' function are okay with proper credit and linkage.
• Commissioners may create up to two personal prints of their commissioned work, but may not sell them for any reason. Commissioners may not distribute high resolution files or other deliverables to parties who have not read and agreed to this ToS.
Frequently asked Questions Are Below.
These questions should tell you a little bit about how I operate.
When you commission the artist Inkmaven, you agree to the terms addressed in the questions below.
• How should I contact you if I want a commission?
Please contact me about commission related questions or requests via email (listed on my profile) or FA note. I will not accept commission info via any Instant Messaging client, period.
• When will my commission be done?
Your turnaround time varies on how much outstanding work I have to do at the time, this includes work outside the fandom as this is usually not my only job. I will generally notify you if it's any longer than a few weeks, but sometimes it can be as short as a few days or as long as a few months. I add work to my queue based on when it is paid (at least 50%), and so how prompt you are with payment also has an effect on turnaround time.
I post frequent updates on my commission status via journals. If my turnaround time is longer than 2 months, I will offer refunds to those waiting on art, if desired.
• What do I get when I commission you?
Depending upon your commission, you will most likely get a full resolution of the file. with icons, I post the large resolution file and you will receive the 100x100 gif image. With larger commissions, I post a resolution within FA's uploading requirements and will send you the larger files. Sometimes you may have to specify to me that you want the higher resolution files, I will not send them automatically for lower cost commissions. Sketches, for example, generally will not warrant any larger resolution files to be uploaded.
• When/how should I pay you?
When: Please refer to the Terms of Service 'Payment' Tab.
How: I take payment over paypal most of the time, in $USD. But I will also accept payment through snail mail. With snail mail, you must realize and agree to the fact that you run the risk of losing that money. If you send payment through the mail, I cannot guarantee it will arrive. In the instance that I do not receive payment, I will not complete your commission. Snail mail commissions will be started only once payment is received at my mailing address.
I also may take payment through trades for goods. Not an artist? I often want to purchase vidoegames, merchandise, and other things I can only get online. If you are interested in bartering for my art, ask! I'm always willing to entertain a trade for goods or other art.
• What if I can't pay you anything right away when I ask for the commission?
When it comes to commissioned work, if you approach me with an idea but cannot pay half or more upon inception, I will drop you to the bottom of my queue as a 'pending' commission. It is here that your commission will stay until I recieve 50%+ of the price. Just like with all of my other commissions, I will add you to the queue when I have received payment. I will not start a commission until it is 100% paid, with the exception of large scale illustrations where sketches/thumbnails may be delivered when at least half (50%) is paid.
• Do I need references of my character, or can you work off of a description?
References are INCREDIBLY helpful. While I do not require a reference sheet I heavily recommend and appreciate it. References as well as descriptions are even better. The more information you give me about your character, the more I have to work with, and the more accurate your commission will be. I will not be responsible for missing something on your character that you did not mention and I will not make changes to a piece of artwork where I was not given a clear reference sheet to work from. Therefore, if you want something added or changed, you will be subjected to an extra charge. See below for more information on edits.
• What if I want something changed?
If you see something wrong with your character and your art is still a WIP, feel free to let me know and I will change it. However, I will only make edits to a WIP (sketch or lineart) twice before I will ask you to pay for each additional change. Charges will depend on how major the change is. I will not make changes to a finished product unless a) I have not sent you any WIPs and the commission is over $50 or b) you are prepared to pay for it.
I am not responsible for missing important attributes of your character if you do not provide me with a clear reference sheet and if you ask for edits I will refuse them or charge you for them. If you wish to avoid this make sure that you provide me with a clear visual reference.
• What will you draw/not draw?
I like to believe that I am a very versatile artist, and I can try just about any species or setting you can throw at me.
However, there are some hardcore fetish materials that I am not comfortable drawing. A general rule is if it's illegal, please don't ask me to draw it. For anything else, we can discuss via note. I reserve the right to deny any commission that I am not comfortable doing.
• Do you accept trades?
Yes! Sometimes I may have other things to focus on, but I'm always open and able to accept trades, unless I tell you otherwise. Even if you aren't an artist, sometimes I trade for goods or services as well.
• What rights do I have to the art I've commissioned?
Your commission may contain characters that you have created, but ultimately I still own all rights to the images I create. That means if you commission me, I may use your image (and by default, your character if it is in the image) to advertise, or to post on different websites. I am not comfortable allowing anyone else to make profit off of my art at this time: that means you cannot resell my art, with the exception of adoptables and other designs (which you may only resell up to the price at which you purchased them from me).
• Can I edit your art?
No. If I have left something out and it was completely my fault, I will change it for you. If I left something out that you failed to tell me or you have changed since I created your artwork, I will offer to fix it for additional charge. You are not allowed to edit my art period. This is different for unfinished art--if I have drawn you a sketch or lineart, you or another artist may color and shade it--however No edits to the lineart or sketch may be made by you or the artist.
• May I repost your artwork to my gallery?
Of course you may! Please always credit me in the description however. See my ToS 'File Usage' above for more on this.
• What about refunds?
If I am not able to complete your commission, I will refund part (if work has been completed) to all (if nothing has been started) of your commission. Sometimes I may be unusually busy, but I will usually notify you unless something is wrong. Refunds will be discussed on an individual basis. In the instance that something happens to me and I am unable to draw, I will contact you and we can discuss the status of your commission further.

Before Anything Else
Posted 12 years agoA few things need to be said.
I have all but abandoned my old Furaffinity account,
seishukuumou. It is a source of great stress for me, I can barely check my notifications without having a panic attack. As you may remember if you were a previous follower of mine, the workload I had at college was overwhelming and I had to make some adjustments to my life to accommodate, one such adjustment was to drop my activity here on Furaffinity.
While my GPA has gone from a D average to a B average in the past three semesters, I do not feel comfortable enough to take on commissions, past or present, at the time being, in fact, the only reason I am making this account at the current point in time is because I need to upload some art for a dear friend and I've just finished it for him. I hope there are no hard feelings between myself and any commissioners I had to put on hold, and if there are, please do not hesitate to either send me a private message here or email me at emily.dillhunt@gmail.com.
There are other reasons for the creation of this account, of course. But I'll get into that later.
As a general caution, I'm still on semi-hiatus and will probably post here very rarely, if at all, and only take on commission work when I have ample amounts of time. That's still more than I will post on my old SeishukuUmou account, so if you're interested in following, follow me here.
Any general questions can be commented here, but if you need something more specific of me, please see above.
