Update
General | Posted 4 years agoHere stands the tall grass...
Currently, I can produce film in 720, until I buy a new computer. The irony is that they are filmed in 4k and don't need any editing done with the exception of trimming.
I have filmed 6 videos so far with 1 of them being uploaded to YouTube in private mode, while I work on editing the others.
Its funny how a 15 minute video takes longer to edit, save and upload and render than watching My Fair Lady and Once a Time in America combined...
As of today, The Dark Culture Series Inklings volume 20 is about 95% complete.
I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things, but most of the materials I have attempted to cover have left a bitter taste in my mouth. While some of the beers are to blame, the bulk of my annoyance has come from the film industry.

Moving forward with upgrades
General | Posted 4 years agoOver the past month or so, I have been playing with the idea of creating videos. Unfortunately, my computer is so damn old that it can't convert a damn thing properly!
My 4k videos look like they're slightly better than 480 when they have been converted, that is if they play with video at all.
Regrettably, this means that I must break down and buy a new computer. I really didn't have any intentions of dropping nearly 2 grand, but I may be forced to do so.
I'm not happy about it, but if I want to expand my business it might very well be the case...
Since my videos when converted look and sound like they were filmed on a potato, I really don't have much of an option...
Expect delays...

Brief hiatus
General | Posted 4 years agoAs some of of may have noticed, I haven't written much of anything lately.
The short answer is I'm frustrated with the delays related to production. The long answer is just a stretched out FUUUUUUUUU.... I will leave the rest to your imagination
I also had some issues with one of the breweries I bought beer from recently... That one takes a year to tell...

Posting schedule
General | Posted 5 years agoHi everyone,
As you probably noticed, I have been releasing less articles recently. Don't worry, my health is fine and everything is okay. I've tried to set aside 3 to 4 days a week to work on creative pieces. Unfortunately, being a freelance writer, people don't realize that I actually have a schedule. That being said, I haven't been able to get anything done, due to other people...
Hopefully, I will get a chance, as the stream of ideas haven't stopped.

A thought on creative criticism
General | Posted 5 years agoI just read an abhorrent fanfic that ended with the clause of not wanting to be criticized. I’ve been writing for over a quarter of a century and I can tell you one thing. The inability to accept criticism in any of its forms closes the door on growth.
Now, that’s not to say that all criticism is useful or even pleasant, but if a writer or any artist for that matter, cannot discern the importance reflecting on their past mistakes, how will they ever evolve?
If you don’t want your work to receive any form of criticism, don’t publish it on a public art site. Better yet, don’t write it down, unless you intend to lock it up in a secret vault, but there is the chance someone might crack it open. So, you’d better set it ablaze and release the ashes to the four winds, that way no one will ever witness your secret shame.
Or disable comments...

Looking for additional sites to post
General | Posted 5 years agoGood afternoon to everyone,
I just want to make it clear that I'm not going anywhere and I will still be posting primarily on FA. I was just hoping to spread my influence around the net a bit. Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of the other sites are particularly obtuse when it comes to creating multimedia articles.
One of the biggest advantages to FA is their uploader with the categories automatically listing the acceptable file types. I tried working on SoFurry, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to upload a PDF there and the same with Deviantart.
I was considering deactivating both accounts, but then I thought better not, so I can keep others from using my brand name
I thought that they said technology was going to make our lives easier...

Today's submission is a video
General | Posted 5 years agoI was debating on whether or not to write a article for today as my good friend Jeff from Reckless Adventures posted a video we did a little while ago while we were at the Bostwick Pioneer cemetery
So, here we go (watches the Internet explode...)
I apologize for anyone that is seeing journals pop up and go away, this is a learning process that's worse than pulling teeth for anyone that has never used basic coding. Hopefully it will work this time

Potential phishing / maleware new FA watcher accounts
General | Posted 5 years agoThe following journal comes from Teiirka
"HEY! Anyone have this happen to you here? Recently I got a new watcher and I happened to click on them to see what they were about.
The page hesitated a bit so I clicked on it again and I got a pop-up window saying that the device I was trying to access was possibly some vector for spyware or malware and asked if I wanted to proceed or decline. I just backed out of there instead. I then tried clicking on the same watcher again and immediately got the same warning so I backed out again and removed the watcher." Teiirka
They do not remember the name of the watcher, but if anything like this happens to you, make a screen shot, report, and delete the mention so you don't accidentally go to their page. Since this seems to be an issue of redirection, I would suggest not touching their link period!
Take care

Short Rant
General | Posted 5 years agoYeah, as the title implies, I'm going to rant for a minute
So, one of the biggest issues I have with writers posting their works on FA is the spamming. When they break down their pieces into a whole bunch of chapters, or simple character reference sheets then flood the submissions board. I don't think it is fair to their fellow writers / poets etc who are already having a hard enough time getting eyes on their work.
while I also feel this way about art, it's significantly easier to browse through dozens of images in seconds, unlike writing were we have to manually click the icon to see if we're even remotely interested in going any further.
For those that create comics, I would suggest that we petition FA to create another submission category where comics / graphic novels get their own section, much like how crafting and fursuiting did.
So please be respectful of our fellow writers
Thanks

FA search tags
General | Posted 5 years agoI had an issue recently with one of my submissions not being able to be found through search period. It seems that the search tags were completely inoperative. I must have lost 4 to 5 days, which on here might be considered eternity when your not drawing prawns and are successful.
So, I would suggest to anyone that posts anything here, make sure that you work can be found period. It's probably pretty rare, but I have encountered library cataloging issues on other sites before. Like when I was working with Ebay and it would only appear on the American site and not the Canadian for items listed on both versions.
If they fail to come up, I would suggest sending a support ticket or just delete and resubmit the work
