Update Update Update
Posted 14 years agoAgain, apologies for the lack of updates here. It's been a busy couple of weeks but we're slowly getting stuff together. We're finalizing the storyboards and pencil tests, and we're getting started on walk cycles very soon!
In preparation for all that, I point you to two brand new Facebook pages I've created:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Neonh.....81545471914179
NeonHouse Productions is the company created to back Survival Instincts, as well as future projects, whenever we get to them.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Survi.....02634983175707
The official Facebook page for Survival Instincts! I'll be definitely updating that sporadically, and more frequently, since, well, as much as I love FA, I need to start pushing this venture to communities outside the fandom. Also, since the name is completely different, in time this place will become defunct. I'll still post a thing or two here, but the majority of bigger updates will go to the FB page.
We also have a new email address: neonhouseproductions@gmail.com! The old one - internal.instincts[at]gmail.com - still works, but again, the name is wrong, and will be phased out as well in time.
Hoping to have more to showcase in the next two weeks. I do apologize for the wait, but things are happening!
Massive upload!
Posted 14 years agoHope everyone enjoys the massive upload of character sketches and concept art. Like I've said, there's been progress, just slow. Had some meetings in LA, and things are looking fairly positive. Nothing in stone yet, but I have my fingers crossed on good things happening.
As always, comments and suggestions are welcome! Also, if there are questions, just ask away. :D

Reminder! Tomorrow! Logo Design Stream at 3PM Eastern!
Posted 15 years agoLivestream session for the logo design and apartment layout is a go!

"One of the things I want to do is, every so often, host a session like this, so people can watch and discuss the going-ons of the production as it gets moving. I'm hoping that this will be a learning session, not only from Fossil and I to those that stop by, but also for watchers to discuss and make suggestions on what works and what doesn't.
We can also talk about cartoons, animation, design, entertainment, and so on. I would like not to talk about TOO much furry, if only because I may want to record the session and send it out to other non-furs, just to show them how it turns out. But I suppose talking a -little- about it would be okay.
I encourage people to ask questions about everything, especially about the details of the webtoon! I need to be absolutely ready for every single aspect and question that may come up for the pitch."
Hope to see you all there! Time is 3PM Eastern till... whenever, but more like 6 or 7PM.
Logo/Home Design Stream - Saturday, Nov. 6!

Shameless Shilling - For a Reason
Posted 15 years agoAs I mentioned, the VO session went well, and I'll be meeting with my animator/art director

In the meantime.... well, through various discussions, I met with a person on Facebook who is also willingly helping to spread the word of KaboingTV. She created a fan page and everything. To that end, we decided to start a semi-daily feature for the page, where we showcase well done indie or individual animations from around the web so that fans of the page can see them. The most popular will probably be sent to Joe Murrary himself. Yes, this is all real.
Yeah, in a way, I feel like this is the internet equivalent of being an intern, a gopher. But there's no way to make it in this kind of industry without doing something you don't like. And in a way, bringing attention to great, aspiring animators and wonderful animations is a reward in itself.
So, if there are any animations out there you know of or feel like you'd like to have appeal, let me know or send a link my way. I'll speak to the animators about it. Keep in mind, it needs to be PG-13 by Facebook rules. I'm actually inquiring about featuring

So, yeah, again, it is a bit of shameless shilling, but at the same time, it's for a good reason in the long run.
Let me know what you find! Here's the Facebook link, in case you're interested: http://www.facebook.com/KaboingTV?ref=ts. The animation request should appear sometime later today.
VO Record session - Flawless Victory
Posted 15 years agoI thought I'd give an update, since it's been a while.
Over the weekend, despite me having the stomach flu and

![[koh] [koh]](http://a.furaffinity.net/20250911/[koh].gif)

We're making progress, but it's slow, and it's tedious. I want this to be a good, quality piece of animation. Well designed from the ground up, good SFX and funny if endearing characters. Considering that it takes the average animated show 4 years to even complete a pilot, we're on a decent track. I might try and release some rough-ish voice takes, just to have people give a listen.
Next up: a meeting with my animator/art director to finalize the 'look' of the show, with color palette and banner/icon designs, pacing and flow and themes and all that fun stuff you never really think about in a cartoon. :) Then it's putting together scratch tracks of the audio to work on pacing, timing, and the 'sound' of the show, as well as putting together a SFX list that we'll need. Then... storyboards! Followed by animatics with a pitch packet and then... well, the animation of course, but there's a pretty nifty connection I'm trying to work in January that should really make things shine for the show in the long run. No guarantees, but I'm pretty confident.
I'll keep everyone updated!
BREAKING NEWS FROM BEHIND THE SCENES
Posted 15 years agoCast member Dylan Montgomery has just been reported to have "really, really, thoroughly enjoyed tonight's episode of Futurama," but "didn't quite feel the ending was 'justified'."
Chase, in response, just punched Dylan in the shoulder. Dylan then responded with an "ow."
More breaking news as it develops.
Ultra-Asplosion of Interest!
Posted 15 years agoWell, thanks to
[koh], looks like a few more people came to watch us. Excellent! Stay tuned here for updates. :)
A lot of people expressed interest in voice work for the webtoon. While I would LOVE to listen to what everyone has to offer, right now we're in pitch mode, and have set in stone the main characters. In the future, if and when this thing takes off, I'll be definitely looking for more voices.
Now, that being said, if you still would like to try to voice something, I suggest you take a look over at
buckhopper. My good friend and all around awesome dude set up a fictional NBA of furries (the FBA), which emphasizes fun and exciting storytelling with a sports center. Don't know anything about basketball? Don't worry! The FBA accommodates all newcomers and, with 24 teams of 12-14 players, an upcoming draft, plus coaches, management, and "sport announcer" types, there are plenty of opportunities to lend your voice to one of the many, many choices during the many, many FBA podcasts that come around.
(And yes, I will be listening. ;) )
So thank you for coming by, and I hope this clears things up for everyone. And do at least give the FBA a lookover. It's a lot more fun than you might think. :D

Results of the VO auditions! *DRUMROLL*
Posted 15 years agoBefore I announce the three people who were chosen, I would like to say a few words.
First, I would like to say this was freaking HARD. Seriously. No joke. I had a ton of voices and reels and mp3s and wavs to sift through. Everyone sound so good. I had to revise and retool the list so many times. I feel really bad that I'm not at the point where I can use everyone for a voice (although I hope to get to that sometime very soon). Please keep in mind, though, that I still have everyone's samples, and will use them for auditioning future voices.
I originally wasn't going to judge anything other than beyond the samples given... but it was impossible to do so because of the great quality of voices I had. Probably.... 90% of the samples could do Dylan, 50% could do David, and 15% for Chase. I couldn't move on until I started getting pretty detailed with what I was looking for, and added elements of accessibility, coachability, experience, and other elements that I was forced to, or I wouldn't get anywhere.
Again, I wish I could have -everyone- do something. But for now, I have decided on the following people for the cast of the three main characters:

![[koh] [koh]](http://a.furaffinity.net/20250911/[koh].gif)
Thank you so much for everyone that offered their voices. In time, you will be given some kind of role once the webtoon gets cooking. But for now, please offer these three here your congrats!
Final Call for VOs!
Posted 15 years agoI believe I sent out the mini-script to all those still looking to audition for the characters. If not, please note me or leave a comment here requesting to see it and read for the parts.
I have a few submissions already, but the more the merrier, as I can always stock them up for later.
The final model sheets are on their way, so if you're still eager to try, let me know!

More VO opportunity (semi-redux)
Posted 15 years agoSo, due to the increasingly difficulty of the VO auditions I received (and the few who have yet to participate but would like to), I have put together a really short, one page, brief script for auditioning the main characters. You can read it (and the characters) however you'd like, and record all the voices together in one sit down, or for a specific character (get one of your friends to read it the other parts!)
This is also a good opportunity to get some emails from the people who want to try out, as I failed to get them when we hosted the actual VO session (I have some of them, though). If you want to give it a go, send a quick poke to internal.instincts@gmail.com, and I'll forward it to you. You can send back a mp3 or wav at your leisure, but the sooner, the better.
I think this is also a little fairer, as it'll give everyone a good chance to "read" the characters themselves instead of the vague task of just dropping random voices on a audio program. It'll give people motivation and junk.
Again, I have a few listed already, but just let me know if you want in and I'll send it over. But please, send back what you can as soon as possible. You don't even have to read the whole thing. :P
Last chance to donate!
Posted 15 years agohttp://kck.st/9U2xiZ
Joe made his goal, and then some, but any little bit extra will help the network - which will indirectly help the cartoon in the long run. Things are happening in the background, but I'm technically sworn to secrecy legally, but once I can I'll bring you in on the details.
Show-wise, model sheets are almost done!
KaboingTV donation link!
Posted 15 years agoCurrent statues: Final VOs, KaboingTV, and New Title(?)
Posted 15 years agoThe model sheets are coming in now, so if you still want to try your hand at voicing a character, just shoot an email to internal.instincts[at]gmail.com of a zip or mp3 of what you got. Looking for any kind of voice you can give, including accents and dialects. When the final set of model sheets arrive, I'll make the EXCEEDINGLY TOUGH decision of who will voice the three main characters. (Seriously, though, you have no idea how great you guys sound!) And remember, just because you aren't chosen for the main three, doesn't mean you lost out. There will be PLENTY of other characters coming onboard in the future.
Also: please, if you can, donate to Joe Murray's KaboingTV and Frog in a Suit idea! The online network is where this show will be pitched to if it goes live (as well as the usual promotion fun), so show the Rocko's Modern Life creator some love! Plus, a minimum five dollar donation gets you access to a screening of his first episode of Frog in a Suit, and believe me, it's amazing. :D
Thirdly... while "Internal Instincts" is the in-progress title, there is a potential for a name change. Some criticism had pointed to the idea that Internal Instincts sounds too dark, like a thriller or murder mystery. I'm considering "Nature's Calling", but I'm also open to suggestions, too! I'm aiming for something that deals with the animalistic nature in everyone, while also touching upon our pursuit for living within modern society. Also, maybe a pun. Or, whatever you feel can work! Try me!
I know things are moving slowish here, but these things take alot of time, but this can, and will, happen. :) Thanks ya'll!
Internal Instincts Formspring account!
Posted 15 years agoI started a formspring account for the Internal Instincts webshow! Any questions you may have about it, ask away. I'll try an answer them as best as I can, without revealing too much in terms of (potential) spoilers.
This is also a good way for me to think about and approach any possible questions when it comes to the pitch, if and when it may pop up in the future.
(Still waiting for model sheets. >.>)

Support a potential new animation venue!
Posted 15 years agoI am not asking for money. But Joe Murray is.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects.....aboingtv?pos=1
Joe Murray, the creator of Rocko's Modern Life and the severely underrated Camp Lazlo, is looking to produce a web-based cartoon channel, KaboingTV, where he can showcase his newest cartoons, as well as open up an avenue for other animators to showcase their work. It's geared to be a mostly independent channel, so the content won't be altered for demographics and advertisers, but should be fun and wacky, like the 'toons of the 90s.
A couple of points:
1) It was actually me who suggested kickstarter to Mr. Murray. I will be remiss, however, if I didn't thank

2) Kickstarter is safe, in that unless Murray's goal is met, you do not lose any of the money you pledge. If he makes the goal, you are charged what you pledged. If he misses it, you lose nothing. It's a nice security measure. Plus, you get nifty bits and trinkets for pledging.
3) If successful, this will be the main avenue in which I will be pitching Internal Instincts through (along with the festival/convention circuit). So, yes, I do have a stake in this as well, and I will be investing a good amount of money into this.
It's a great investment into something that's looks fun, and rewarding, and you don't even have to pledge that much. Whatever the motive is - for Joe, for the show, for the proliferation of fun animation again - I would hope you at least check it out. :)
Thanks!
VO Results
Posted 15 years agoHoly crap! The VO audition was great! Thanks to everyone that came out to lend a voice, or just sit in and listen! The participants were all excellent! Man, you'll be surprised how many people really have great voices that just sound amazing!
To those who couldn't make it: if you'd like, you can send an audio file to internal.instincts[at]gmail.com with various samples of what you can do, in terms of accents, dialects, and impersonations, as well as your normal voice.
I wish I could use pretty much every single voice - and in time, I probably will, or

But thanks again for coming and listening! Hope everyone had fun!

Post #7 - VO Auditions Rundown!
Posted 15 years agoReminder that the VO Auditions are this Saturday, April 10th, 2pm to 9pm Pacific, 5pm-midnight Eastern. Here's the link to the livestream:
www.livestream.com/internalinstincts
No password.
Okay, so this is how I have it planned: Basically, you jump on livestream when you can. Early on, B-hop and I will probably shoot the breeze a little, as more people filter in from reality. Then I'll sort of talk about the idea and feel of the cartoon and field any early questions people may have.
Then the auditions will begin. The first part will have people call in via Skype or AIM Chat. We'll talk with you a bit, ask a few questions, just to get an idea of who you are and how you sound normally. Then we'll ask for any impersonations, accents, dialects and so on, that you can provide. Just talk with what's on your mind, or read some generic website. This is just to hear you and what you can bring. Very light, very easy, maybe 5-10 minutes per person. This way we can work through everyone, and everyone gets a chance to at least be heard.
THEN BREAK FOR LUNCH/DINNER/NOMS.
When we come back, I'll pick and choose certain people to read from some set scripts I wrote. Again, I'll set up some conferences via Skype and have everyone read it (I'm not sure if I should sent out snippets of the scripts or just showcase it on the LS screen, as the text may be small.) That's really it. Nothing strict or set in stone, so it should be easy going. And if you wanna listen in while you work on other things at home, go right ahead.
I'm pretty much looking for... well, EVERYTHING. II will make fun of a ton of stuff, so it's great to have a well of talent to draw from. I'm looking for dialects of every region and accents from every country, but in particular, impersonations from not only TV shows and movies, but video games and internet, uh, viral things as well. I'm up for anything, really, but in terms of specifics, it would be great if I could find:
Braveheart from the Care Bears
Sunny Gurlukovich from Metal Gear Solid 4
Daniel Day-Lewis
Orson Wells
Anything deliciously obscure
One of the Dr. Who's
So, that's pretty much everything. Once again, if there are any questions, note this account or email internal.instincts@gmail.com. Should be lots of fun!
Hope to see you there!

Post #6: NEW DATE FOR VO AUDITIONS!
Posted 15 years agoI know I keep changing this, but something always comes up! (This being an Easter weekend).
The new date is now April 10th, Saturday, 5pm - 12 midnight east coast (that's 2 - 9pm Pacific). I'll be linking here a ustream/livestream address very soon, so stay tuned for the details! Have your skypes and mics ready!
Post #5 - Looking for storyboarders! (And general update)
Posted 15 years agoSearching for potential storyboarders! (And general status update)
First thing first: We are searching for potential storyboarders!
The good news: You will be paid. The bad news: Probably not as much as "professional" storyboarders.
As many of you know, 2009 was a bad year, financially, and as such, finances are difficult to come by. There is a steady flow of money coming in, but it's not much, especially as I deal with the usual set of monthly bills, as well as my other set of side projects and any emergencies that crop up (crossing my fingers for a good tax return).
That being said, the cartoon is still a go, so we're looking for, ideally, students/individuals more interested in creating a demo reel or having a solid piece of work for their resumes/portfolios. Again, you will be paid, so this is not a typical, BS, "do-it-for-yourself!" scam that's notorious around these boards. However, the pay isn't much, but decent, and negotiable.
This is more or less a give-and-take project. Everyone involved is primarily doing this for the love and the desire (and the desperation, ha-ha) over the money, to produce something that we can be proud of, something that showcases our collective talents and ability to produce something that can be enjoyed by the average audience (and something that can be put on all our resumes/portfolios. It's a tough job market out there nowadays). I hesitate to call this a 'furry' project, mainly because of its connotations, but essentially it is.
FYI, there is also a few services that may provide solid financial backings to assist with the development. We're looking into them, but at the moment, we need to have a very controlled and detailed pitch ready for it, which consists of voices, artists, animators, writers, as well as model sheets, location designs, and some basic animatics. I would also love to have a short, fully animated piece (3-5 minutes), which would really wow the investors/donation folks. (That means reimbursement.)
Please note, that projects like this take a lot of time. We are talking months - and with people being with their main jobs and lifestyles, it could be years. It's about commitment, organization, perseverance, and, mainly patience.
So, again, in terms of storyboards and storyboard artists: you will be paid, just don't expect this to be a PAYDAY kind of arrangement. If you are interested, or know anyone that would be interested or eager, please link to the journal or send an email to internal.instincts@gmail.com. Reels, samples, and past projects are a good thing.
